[F6-SP] A wind blown through a forest of turmoil (Gemini)

Recommended Posts

Gaius stares down to the small female child who like a rattler a piercing glare jumps to his. Unblinking and almost feral Setuna’s gaze meets his giving him a bit of a startle as she offers this plated glove to him. “I will, uh ‘consume the beast’?” Gaius remarked a bit confused at the meaning but wasn’t about to question the strange phrase from the girl who had seemed to have been through a hell of a fight littered with scratches and cuts. Pulling the belts tight as he equips this glove a bit small around his left arm Gaius takes one final glance at the girl while chugging the orange liquid provided by Simmone, drenched to the bone in a rainstorm that had not reached where he had been resting. A quick glance back to the collection; Griswold, Simmone and Setsuna Gaius shouts “Well, I’m off let’s see what the hell we are dealing with that’s kicking everyone’s a**”

Gaius didn’t show it outward but was intrigued and slightly excited to test his might against this challenge set before him. Moving out of sight as the players sat there at the falls, Gaius finally leaves enough that they leave view as the trees shift to encompass him in a labyrinth of a green maze topping the dark brown wood stands they protrude from. Picking up speed and starting to sprint toward a possible encounter he was interested in saving every second in travel toward it.

Lunging over the roots seeing a few prints along the bog of water pooled in them the rain of the forest seems to have just died down leaving these small lakes of footprint shaped bodies of water littered about more than likely his guild mates steps. “Dang, we are definitely leaving a mark...Good!” Gaius being slightly exuberant at the prospect of leaving something to be remembered for.

Dropping down from one of the large coiling serpentine of roots from the massive wooden structure of a tree, Gaius finds a small mound of vines communed in a piled like fishnet of them piled independently of the trees around them. Taking a quick peek with the turn of a head, Gaius pokes at them with his glaive not wanting to get to close and have it bite at him. “Hmm…” Gaius takes them in intently jabbing at them with the end of his weapon, sifting through them little by little before concluding that it may not be what he’s after here in this canopy.

“Nope, doesn’t look like what is trying to kill people.” Gaius chuckles a bit with a grin, the vine attached like spaghetti to a fork dropping from its tip with an audible *flop* to the forest floor Gaius twirls his blade and sheathes it and retracts and heads on.

Bouncing and vaulting left and over, down and around large roots and trunks of large spires of natures bounty Gaius hears a bit of ruckus. Dropping down and taking a peek around one of these massive pillars of eternity, Gaius spots two kobolds fighting over a scrap of meat. Lunging out and cleaving wide dispatches both with ease, Gaius leans down and claims the flank of food. Taking a bite, before dropping it from his gullet in disdain with a *pbth, pbff* Gaius coughs and drops it “ick…”

His eyes scan the area, noticing the lack of footprints and comes to a similar conclusion as before. “Nope, not here either, the hell Is this thing,” Gaius remarks vaulting off the tip of his spear back toward the path he deterred from a bit confused if he was on the correct path or not but decided to press on and go with the flow.

The water pooled together in a small marsh plain of mud and glimmering water on the forest floor, Gaius taking care to avoid falling into it shoving his spear into one of the trees and using it to vault over the body of moisture collected underneath him. Dropping off the landing with a loud *thud* as the area is still slick from the rain. Gaius looks up exclaiming “ouch…” the leaves dancing down as the vibration knocks them free. Opening his eyes a small collection of mushrooms in an abnormal straight line underneath the large tree’s roots just out of sight and in obscurity from the sunlight.

“Never know where your path will lead.” Gaius chuckles picking one and consuming it but leaves the rest alone given there immaturity. It tastes wonderful slightly salty and a bit of hazelnut, Gaius licks his teeth and smacks his lips a second savoring the small morsel taking a mental note intending to come and take the rest at a later date.

Vaulting from his prone position and heading deeper having his mind wander too much was focused on that sweet sweet fight. Heading into darker shaded wood following the steps laden in the soft suctioned mud underfoot Gaius catches a small patch of lime green lizards skittered around a small pool of water with small tongues taking sips from it with wiggling tongues.
Gaius’s eyes narrow, its belly rumbles as he thinks of the salted lizard from the tavern on floor 1. “I wonder how forest lizard tastes compared to plains lizards?” Gaius was eager to try it.

Heaving his glaive in a quick and rapid motion the blade flies from the distance. Slamming at the ground where the lizards lie. They scatter however and all seem to retreat away from the attempt into the cover of foliage around them, being fast is how these creatures survive. Gaius sighs and retrieves his spear from the forest floor, a bit downtrodden that he missed the chance to partake of such an interesting meal.

Pressing on through the canopy Gaius follows the tracks of the guild. Without care or caution coming into view, a small run-down shack of sorts in disarray laid to rest deep within the cover of the wood. Pushing the small enclosure open with the tip of his weapon, Gaius peers into a shack with a caved-in roof staring back at him. Pots in pieces spread across the floor under a layer of dust, having been abandoned for quite some amount of time. Gaius tilts his head and sneezes the dust agitating his nostrils. Releasing the door and retracting his polearm Gaius moves along sure this isn’t where he was supposed to be.

Gaius’s impatience was flaring a bit, his stomach turning for a moment most likely in hunger. “Where the hell are you, come try and kill me already would yah!” Gaius shouts to a quiet forest killing the silence for a moment as it echoes off the wooden walls surrounding him.

The silence returns, an echo of the falls still audible behind him despite the distance Gaius has put between himself and the point at which he’d started this journey. Gaius wasn’t sure if he’d been walking in circles here and wrapping himself back around to the beginning or was actually making progress. However, he wasn’t the sort to dwell on any possible failure and disregarded any potential possibility of discouragement.

Gaius, however, does scale to the top of a tree to get a vantage point, trying to solidify his barrings and get a sense of which direction he should be heading. “Hmm, not really in my wheelhouse…” Gaius remarks softly peering left and right while trying his best to decipher the path he must take. With most of his surroundings simply appearing as a reflection of the other, it was clear that his only and best bet was going to be just following the steps that the others had taken before him.

A storm brewing on the horizon visible overhead the trees in a billowing puffed collection of black moving along the sky creeping over the jungle almost ominously crawling to blot out the sky. Gaius takes notice and chuckles “Explains the water…” the storm scares him not but does see it as unwanted turbulence which could slow him down. Hopping down from his vantage, sliding down the trees rough surface surprisingly graceful as a bit of the bark comes loose and follows him down while he grinds along its surface.

Tracing the steps of the other members, following the semi-cold trail where they may lead Gaius finds a slightly larger pool of water, hearing a rustle in the trees which sets him on guard. Twirling his polearm and scanning the direction intently wanting this blood he sought. However, this wasn’t what he was here for, breaking into sight around long drawn branches is a decently thick python paying him little mind. Shrugging Gaius moves past undisturbed.

The trail seems to pull Gaius to this section of stone, drawn pillars jutting from the earth in man-made spires of tan brick seeming to have been standing here for quite some time. A few lays crumbled Gaius taking a close look at one, taking notice they may have fallen recently given the smaller pieces which would surely have spread with time still littered around their base.

Then taking a scan around only one seems to have fallen long ago the other two just recently fell having succumbed to the elements swirling around this forest. “Wonder what changed?” Gaius remarked with small interest pushing some of the small pieces around by hand before dropping it for he wasn’t one to dwell on it. A crack of thunder signaling to the dragoon that the storm was here over him like an announcement for him to press on lest he is buried under the coming waters.

Another crack of electricity taking hold in the horizon in a charged burst across the inky darkness above him, and then it came: Rain in a flurry hard and fast. The water tore into his hair but Gaius was no stranger to these elements chuckling and embracing it looking up with a squint as the water found his eyes. “Guess we are here now…” Gaius flips his hair back to remove its attachment from his face wiping the remaining moisture from his forehead.

The prints seem to take on a frenetic barfy mess of incoherent jumble at the base of some mountain. Looking down Gaius takes this with a slight tilt of his head sure this is what he has been seeking, it looks like a battlefield to him. “This is it, people just don’t walk around in circles.” Gaius remarks looking up the surface of this mountain seeing black burns along its surface claiming the coloring of the stone for their own.

The storm seems to strengthen around him casting a thicker drain on the light. From the rain falling, a subtle outcry of its impacts along the stone surface in the area being obscured by this shadow that creeps over. The same shadow that robs Gaius’s sight from him leaving only a 10 to 20 ft section of light able to be made out. “oooh ...Spooky, shame I don’t scare easy.” Gaius chastises getting the sense that this was intended by something to frighten him. Drawing his glaive from his back, a similar sound heard from the depths of the storm just out of sight. “No, we don’t do we?”

The voice sounds the same as if an echo of the dragoon’s being cast with a different phrase with a twisted second voice matching it like a mockingbird latched to them as well. Two tones of sound spoke together in an eerie choir of spoken language.

“No, we just eat and eat, burning everything we own to do so. It’s interesting how we prey upon everything to fill our bellies, and It's the sole thing that drives us doesn’t it?” The creature taunts. Gaius chuckles and twirls his glaive before halting it with a gleam under popping lightning. “Yeah and? What of it, if that’s the best you have you are going to need to try a bit harder then telling me what I already know.” To most facing yourself this way would trouble you. but for Gaius was strange and abnormal in that he had nothing to hide and accepted the insult with purity and no regret. Gaius moves and leaps, eager to get this battle started swings into the darkness with the creature jumping out of the way right before the blow lands. The shade chuckles at him as it finds footing underneath the cover of the storm.

A bit flustered the monster tries to demoralize Gaius dredging up more of his issues: “We also perceive ourselves as better than everyone else, even when we are not are we?”. The goad flies like fire hoping to scorn Gaius enough to break his spirit but Gaius’s spirit is tough and honest “Yeah, I have to agree. Mari kicked my a** and I’m sure she won’t be the last, but you know what.. I am still here and I am still fighting so prepare yourself.” Gaius remarks with a soft laugh as he moves in to attack again completely unfazed by the attempted insults and dredging of his inadequacies. Another flash of light and Gaius connects to the creature’s glaive with an honest look of confusion painted on its face. Blocking the player with the handle in a shower of sparks as the green fades from his blade, leaving them both in the dark.

"We just keep attacking, do we not listen...We do not fear death or finality…” The words stick to the copies tongue like glue as it starts to understand that Gaius won’t stop. As if coming too late from the cardinal’s data banks, Gaius stares it down with a piercing determination as its words are drowned under Gaius’s will to fight and the enjoyment of it. “Are you done? Good then shut the f*** up and let’s get to it then.” A quick twirl of his glaive and drawing the spear up above his head, the flash of elements gleam across the metal of his weapon and the guild master’s glove on his left arm. “And we will see if you are worth wearing my face. Why don’t you prove it to me.” Gaius boasts egging his own copy on to the attack with a smile forming on his face enjoying every second of this encounter.

Gaius and the mirror collide under the crash of thunder and the beating of falling water. Gaius flurries his glaive and slams hard against the creature and they are deadlocked exchanging blows against polearms. Both attackers are skilled enough to parry the incoming head with the small rod handle as it ascends before an unforeseen burst of flame juts from Gaius burning away at the beast. Gaius looks at his attacker with a tilted head "The hell was that just now." not understanding that the immolation potion had kicked in.

Gaius took a hefty swing while the creature was consumed in fire. The creature blocks it well and skips its spear across the plates on Gaius's arm in rebuttal but neither makes full contact on the other. Sliding apart and with a quick hop to build more distance they both draw up in a mirror of each other and begin to charge another art.

Both breaks from the ground with hyper-aggressive force, leaving a trail of soot in there wake as the cardinal assist tears them to the other in accelerated and cataclysmic force. The blades connect with an accenting sound of thunder as they slam together haphazardly with a *slam* of metal on metal and a shower of sparks lighting up the area with the connection. However, the beast seems to have a trick up its sleeve, shifting its hand away from the weapon sending Gaius off his balance before it jabs him with a toxin that robs him of movement.

Falling to the ground Gaius looks up to the creature and spits "Look at that, you are a damn cheat. Enjoy it because I'll be beating your f*** a** when this wears off." Gaius struggled to keep his footing as his joints began to lock up and disable his ability to stand up.

Gaius fights against him locked up muscles as the creature flourishes its polearm around "I'll kill you and become me!" A twisted smile painted on its grim face in the darkness of the storm overhead. Slamming the weapon into Gaius's exposed back with ease the blade glances instead of striking true, the grin fades as it realizes that the trick had failed as the odds were stacked against it. Followed by the detonation of the immolation again, "And you accuse me of being a cheat." it remarks while retracting its weapon in a twirl and a jump away as the paralyze it had applied began to fade away.

The paralyze fades a bit earlier than the clone had expected and Gaius exploits this opening. As the creature retracts Gaius latches the blade under its heel and pulls back knocking its balance offset. A quick pivot and shift as the monster start to lose its footing, Gaius twirls rotates his body and like a backward home run swing slams the blade against the creature hard leaving a decent size ark of a green crescent. The beast, however, pulls its spear up and blocks with a bit of expertise staving off most of the force from the aggression with a block of his weapon. The pair slide apart as the creature flips backward vaulting off it's left-hand landing squarely on its feet and recovering its balance. Gaius does a few sweeps before dragging his left foot to his right knee creating his pose with a grin on his face enjoying the fight.

Again they slam together with the crash of the storm above them drawing the whole fight like an act in a play, like an orchestra performing to an opera. A wide cleave from both as both Gaius and his clone strike weapons together with glowing trails of green and yellow. Each combatant drenched to the bone under the drenching water but neither seemed to dislike the conditions and lived for the fight. Another and another burst of slamming strikes, each just as aggressive as the previous like cars slamming together.

"Let us finish this." The creature glared at Gaius its face contorted with disdain and fury.

"Sure, I'm getting a little hungry and a little bored." Gaius yells against the backdrop of heavy rain with a grin painted on him.

The weapons glow again for the final swing as both intend to end this with this last attack in a silent acknowledgement.
