Alec surged into wakefulness with a guttural roar and a wild flailing of massive arms and legs as he thrashed and slammed around. “WHAT?!? WHO?!? WHERE?!?!” The titanic man bellowed as he gulped lungful's of cool air his massive chest and broad shoulders and back heaving with each gulp of air. “RRRRAAAUUUGGGHHHHRRRRR!!!!!!” Alec let out as he threw his head to the roof of his natural stone bedroom and slammed his oversized fists into the giant bed he sat upon. The massive man lurched to the edge of the bed as he drew his tree trunk like legs under himself and stood up stretching his thickly muscled arms wide and stretching them out to sides. The monotony of waking every day and doing the same thing was really starting to take its tool on the large mans psyche. He had tried for a few months to break up the routine by stopping everything. He had stopped questing, he had stopped going into his friend and mentor Macradon’s Blacksmith shop to train. He had quite it all he had needed a break and now he was going stir crazy.

Alec stood up and spread his arms out wide stretching with a soft groan as his aging muscles and joints creaked and popped. Luckily for him it was no where near as bad as it used to be sleeping in all those rented rooms on the First Floor. Now at least he had his own house and his own oversized bed which accommodated his oversized frame. With a heavy hand run over his hairless head and his through his lush beard the large man made his way out of his bedroom and through his living room to his kitchen where he poured himself a large mug of steaming coffee which he happily sipped as he looked over the interior of his house. Alec needed to get out and get moving he thought to himself as he made his way over to the couch and slumped down kicking his feet out onto an ottoman before him his feet warming at the coals from last nights fire as he finished his mug of steaming black coffee.

Even if he wasn’t actively leveling which he hadn’t been in some time he always tried to keep his ear to the ground for and interesting tales of new monsters and threats on the various floors he perused. Lately he had heard some rumblings of a large bear like creature on the 8th Floor that had been giving local players some problems so this seemed like as good a time as any to hop onto the old proverbial wagon and get back into the saddle. With his mug of coffee finished the large man looked down to the soft lump of soft fur stretched out before the cooling embers and smiled as he opened his mouth. “So pal. Ready to get back out there and find some trouble?” The large man asked the fuzzy lump. “Humphrey?” The large man asked as he nudged the American Black Bear cub lying there. The bear cub rolled over with a grumble and swatted at his bare foot playfully eliciting a smile from the usually dour man. “Yeah, time to get up bud. Lets go look into this bear like thing on the Eighth Floor that’s raising a ruckus.” The large man offered.

With days decision made Alec quickly reached out and equipped his travelling clothes with a swift jab of his index finger. Next Alec reached out and selected his adventuring gear quickly equipping his Vanquisher Heavy Armor and watched as the deep green and black shoulder guards wavered into existence fitted and secured perfectly on his shoulders. Next he tapped the icon for his Forearm Axe and watched as the weapon appeared affixed to his arm in its customary position. Finally he touched the image for his shield Mirror’s Embrace and watched as it too wavered and appeared affixed to his opposite forearm. With his weapons and armor properly set up the large man reached out and touched the picture for his Luck Stone and dragging the image to his Battle Ready Items Inventory slot and placed it there. As he looked at the four empty slots the large man made a mental note to himself to stop by a shop later. He would need some healing potions or healing crystals for future excursions. So far he had been pretty lucky but Alec sensed the future held some more difficult quests and he’d need every edge and boost he could get his hands on.

With that Alec made his way across the floor of his living room with his Familiar Humphrey in tow. The pair exited the house and entered the cold snowy terrain of the Fourth Floor where Alec made his home in one of the far remote corners of the Floor. The pair made their way across the floor through mounding snow drifts and the ever falling sheets of pure white billowy snow that were omnipresent here. The cold wind bit at Alec’s exposed skin but the chill was barely felt by the burly Tank as he walked on. Humphrey took every possible opportunity to crash through massive piles of fine white snow exploding from their far sides like a white clad missile as the fine particles clung to his thick black fur. The sight of his playful young companion always brought a wide toothy smile to the normally stern mans perpetual scowl. After nearly an hours time the pair enter the main settlement of the Fourth Floor where Alec made his way straight to the Teleport Circle in the middle of the town. Once he arrived the large man stepped onto the disk and spoke the name Florenthia, the main settlement of the Eighth Floor and watched as Snowfrost disappeared from his sight.

As Alec’s vision cleared the settlement of Florenthia appeared before his eyes. Florenthia was designed to appear as an old English style village. The town was situated in one of the few forest clearings of the floor. Most of the buildings were two stories. The first floors were typically constructed of stone, to provide a solid base for the second floors which were built with a combination of wood, wattle and daub, and clay. Some of the larger buildings also had basements or cellars. A large river ran through the town, resulting in the construction of several large stone bridges. A large amount of commodities are available to the players at this settlement, including several taverns and inns, restaurants, armorers, blacksmiths, tailors, and various other shops. Alec casually made his way through the streets headed for the heavily forested floor outside the walls of the town and his current destination deep within the woods of the Eighth Floor.

Alec began his search of the thickly forested terrain of the Eighth Floor in search of the hidden cave of the giant bearlike beast known as Kumatetsu. Alec had heard that beast and its lair were well hidden so the large man had little faith in stumbling immediately upon it but hey crazier things had to have happened right? The large man thought to himself as he patrolled the forest looking for the well hidden cave from which the creature was said to strike at unsuspecting players and non player character livestock. Alec swore to himself that he would do everything within his power to ensure that this wild beast hurt no other players. He hadn’t heard of any Players dying by its claws but he wanted to make sure that didn’t happen. He would find this beast and destroy it. Alec spent nearly an hour hunting for the hidden lair but failed to turn up and clues as to its whereabouts. With a shrug he looked to his companion Humphrey for any ideas.

“Well pal?” The large man asked with a cocked eyebrow as he turned toward his companion and friend Humphrey. “Do you have any ideas where this bear like thing is hiding at? I mean you are a bear and maybe you can sniff him out or pint out someplace you’d like to lair up if you were him?’ Alec asked with a cocked eyebrow in his deep baritone rumble. Humphrey merely stood up on his hind legs and raised his paws into the air in a very comical rendition of the old Polish salute. “Thanks pal. You’re a great help aren’t you?” Alec asked with a chuckle. “Well I guess it’s my own fault isn’t it?” Alec asked in a laugh. I did train you after all to be a healer and not a Treasure finding familiar. Didn’t I?” Alec chuckled as Humphrey proceeded to break into a hysterical over exaggerated up and down head nod. “Fair enough pal. Fair enough.” Alec concluded with another laugh.

Alec continued his search of the Eighth Floor in search of the bear like beast known as Kumatetsu or something like that the large man thought to himself as he continued to walk through the forest. This quest had a made Alec think back to another time he had been forced to search for another creature. That giant freaking snake on the Sixteenth Floor he and Kit had searched for. They had done well fighting that creature other than it kept disappearing on them and hiding both under the water and in the trees as well. That had been tedious, but those gorillas had been something entirely different and a big reason he had stopped questing for so long. Had it not been for the Hikoru guy popping in to save Kit then ghosting mid fight and finally Bahr showing up out of no where to save his butt he would have sure been forced to cash in his chips and then he’d be no where. No here not with Gwen and Danny, he’d have been dead. He  owed his friend much and vowed to himself that he’d pay his friend back!!!

Alec continued his walk through the dense forest of the Eighth Floor in search of the lair of the elusive Kumatetsu, the giant bear like creature which had been terrorizing Players and non player characters on this floor for some time. Alec was just beginning to ponder taking his search to another area of the floor when he heard a deep rumble from deeper in beyond a ticket bush in front of him. The large man gently lowered himself into a crouch and crept forward as he opened his inventory and quickly equipped his Forearm Axe swapping out his Luck Stone to be ready in case a monster decided to jump out of the bush and try to surprise him. As Alec spread the branches of the thicket apart he spotted a giant bear like creature standing in a small clearing before a large dark cave. Alec slowly let the branches back into place as he looked over to his friend and motioned with a finger that he had seen the monster they were looking for. Which was really more of the large man waving his index finger around in the air then pointing at the bush.

Alec stepped out from behind the bush with his reflective shield held up before him and his Forearm Axe hung ready at his side. As the large Tank came forward he brought his arm up ready to swing but as he tried to activate a Sword Art nothing happened causing the large man to growl and shake his arm around as if that might activate the failed Sword Art. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” The heavily muscled man growled as he took his eyes away from the giant bear like beast. Kumatetsu took advantage of the mans distraction and stood up on its hind legs towering over the now smaller man and throwing its head back and its massive paws wide letting out a roar that shook the very forest around it, blasting the man with a force wave of fetid breath that roiled over him and froze him in his track Paralyzing as he stood with an arm to the sky like some sort of disco dancer frozen in mid dance move.

As the giant bear like creature Kumatetsu reared up on its hind legs it let out a ferocious roar that rattled Alec’s bones down to the fillings in his teeth freezing him in place. “NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!” Alec screamed within his head as his muscles froze it was the damnable Lovers fight all over. He swore if he spent the entire fight a statue again because he’d once more forgot to bring and use his Trinket which kept him from getting Paralyzed he might just find a way to shoot himself once this fight was over. As the Paralyzing effects of the bear like creatures roar began to wear off Alec fought to regain control of his body. Slowly his limbs began to relax and just as the large man drew his arm and shoulder back for a swing Kumatetsu let out a second ear splitting roar that shook the trees of the forest and very nearly Alec’s inner core locking his muscles up again and leaving him once more Paralyzed.

Alec stood like a statue his muscles locked in place and refusing to respond to his desires and commands. The gigantic bear like monstrosity Kumatetsu had once more let out a forest deafening roar that had shook the very ground the large man stood upon. The effect had caused his body to lock in place becoming Paralyzed. Alec strained and fought but failed to force his body to move by sheer force of will. The seconds he was forced to wait were excruciating. As if he were a prisoner within his own body. The heavily muscled man fought and fought but still his body refused to respond to his desperate commands. Impotent Alec was forced to watch as the huge creature dropped back to standing on its four legs and began a slow meandering walk towards him. Desperate to regain control of his body Alec strained against the bonds the computer system applied to his massive frame as he sought any sort of relief or reprieve from the hell he was trapped in as the Kumatetsu stalked forward and reached out swiping a massive paw across Alec leaving a mere scratch across his arm.

Finally Alec regained control of his body. First it was a finger, then a toe, then his hand, a foot followed at a snails pace before finally Alec was once again master of his own body. The large man watched as the beast stalked closer and closer as he held his shield before him. As Kumatetsu came within striking range Alec focused all his will activating the Sword Art Ukon Kirves. The heads of Alec’s Forearm Axe began glowing as he lashed out faster then the eye could track striking at the bear like form 11 times in the side. Just as the axe heads were about to strike the beast shifted and swayed dodging Alec's perfectly timed and aimed attack. Kumatetsu let out a thunderous roar of triumph as it reared up onto its hind legs and lashed out with a massive clawed paw. Alec quickly raised his shield into the way of the strike deflecting the blow and only receiving another small scratch as the razor sharp edges of his shield slashed into the beast opening another wound in it’s hide.

Alec shifted his feet adjusting his stance after his last miss. He didn’t understand it. That should have resulted in a Critical Hit but the beast had flowed out of the way like water. Gritting his teeth the heavily muscled Tank readied himself for another attack. Alec reached out once more attempting to activate a Sword Art, but once more the game refused to respond to his wishes. As Alec swung, his attack slowed by the failed attempt to active a Sword Art, Kumatetsu easily dodged out of the way of the awkward fumbling swing. The bear like beast reached back a massive paw and swiped out again. The large Tank was barely able to get his shield up in time to block the blow as the paw connected with his shield and the dagger like claws pierced his skin. Thanks to his high damage mitigation the attack let another nick on his flesh as his razor sharp shield cut into the creature again slicing a scalpel like incision in is flesh.

So far Alec was finding this gigantic bear like creature incredibly hard to hit. Every time he swung the humongous beast shifted ever so slightly and Alec’s attack went wide. Thankfully his armor was heavy and thick that coupled with the razor sharp edges of his shield was the only thing whittling away at his opponents health, but that was Alec’s fighting style. Let them hit you absorb and heal the damage and let them kill themselves attacking him. Wars of attrition not speed bouts like some of his damage focusing friends. Alec shifted his feet and swing out again once more slowed by his failure to activate a Sword Art and once more Kumatetsu dodged out of the way. The beast shifted back and swung round with it’s massive paw again and again Alec raised his shield intercepting the attack mitigating the damage down to nearly nothing and once more the razor sharp edges of Alec’s shield sliced another ribbon in the the creatures thick hide releasing more red pixels simulating its blood flowing from the newest wound.

Another attack from the large Tank Alec and another miss as his once more slowed swing was easily side stepped by the beast. As the bear like creature shifted its weight Alec became over balanced due to the effort he had put into his last attack causing him to flail and stumble tripping over his own feet and toppling to the dirt of the forest in a pile of his own arms and legs. Thankfully his weapon and shield were firmly affixed to his body so there was no chance of loosing them in any of Alec’s many tumbles and spills he’d taken since he ended up trapped here in this virtual world. Never in his whole life had he been as clumsy as he was here. Kumatetsu took the advantage given to it by the large mans blunder and reared up onto it’s hind legs letting out another forest rattling roar that shook the trees and the very ground Alec was lying atop of. The roar coursed through Alec’s body locking him in place on the ground Paralyzing him once more.

Alec lay prone and defenseless on the ground his muscles and body frozen in place from the giant bear like creature Kumatetsu’s latest Paralyzing Roar. Once more the large man found himself trapped within the confines of his own body a prisoner within his virtual meat shell. Alec continued to strain and struggle to will his body to move as the beast Kumatetsu lowered itself once more to all four legs. Finally the heavily muscled Tank began to gain feeling in his extremities. Fingers, toes, arms legs. As Alec regained control he began to stand up but the giant beast would have non of that as it let out yet another hellish roar causing the entire world around Alec to  shake and quaver at the rumbling roar. As Alec rose to his knees with one leg bent ready to rise his body froze and locked again Paralyzing the large man in place in a one legged kneel as if ready to be knighted by a king.

Paralyzed again Alec thought to himself as he knelt on the ground before the giant bear like beast Kumatetsu and fought and willed as he could Alec still could not move a muscle. It felt as if the giant beast was playing with him as a cat would a mouse. Luckily for Alec he was a tough mouse and not one easily damaged. As Alec knelt his shield held before him the great beast Kumatetsu lashed out once more. It’s boulder sized paw raised at a painstakingly slow pace as Alec watched before it came falling down like an avalanche. Thankfully Alec’s shield was partly raised and caught the edge of Kumatetsu’s paw is it struck. The massive claws raking across the Tanks hardened skin nicking him and leaving a mark barely worth being called a scratch as the razor sharp edges of Alec’s shield sliced into the meat of the bear’s arm slicing deeply into the flesh beneath leaving another bright red streak across it’s body.

Alec fought and strained his muscles bulging against the effects of the massive bear like creature Kumatetsu’s Paralyzing Ferocious Roar. Still Alec’s body remained locked and rigid refusing his commands and desires. As the effecrs of the latest roar wore off Alec finished his stand stood eyeing the beast as he shifted his weight and prepared for another swing of his Forearm Axe. As Alec once more tried to activate a Sword Art and fail he swung out slowed and lethargic from some many Paralyzes. Kumatetsu easily swayed out of the way of the ineffective and lethargic attack. As the beast brought its clawed paw around for it’s own attack Alec raised his shield and deflected the blow high and wide of his body. Stepping back the large man took a series of deep relaxing breaths to steady his nerves and his mind as he tried to center himself and ready himself for another attack which he hoped deeply he’d finally be able to connect with.
