Raidou 1 Posted April 12, 2020 #1 Report Share Posted April 12, 2020 Waking early in the morning knowing that Raidou has more work to accomplish, Raidou gets out of bed with a small yawn. Gathering his equipment and knotting his red robe to the scruff of his neck, Raidou heads out. With the same actions as before, hiding behind corners of the building and staying out of sight from prying eyes that would look upon him. After knowing the coast was clear from other bodies, Raidou skitters quickly to the pad that would take him to the floor he was destined to go to. As his right foot touches the teleportation circle and a muttering voice coming from his mouth saying “Floor 21”, a familiar feeling flows through his body. After a moment of feeling weightless, Raidou arrives in the cave he has been in many times before this through the small opening. Following pursuit from before, Raidou unties his robe and proceeds to walk to the patch of multicolored herbs. Lightly touching each stem and leaf trying to figure out which herbs are moist and throwing aside the ones that are too dry to use. With a gentle picking of a few and some tossing of others that prove no use to him, Raidou gets to his feet and places the few herbs he was able to collect on the proper pouch and ties it back to his belt. With a quick movement of his head, finding his next target. After a moment, Raidou's vision peers to another patch in the distance. With a small adjustment of his glasses and a rub of his brow, Raidou picks his robe from the ground and places it across his arms. He begins to walk to the next gathering place. Once again he drops to his knees in front of the colorful littered herb patch. Excitement flows through his body as his fingers touch the fragile stems and the softened leaves of these herbs that he loves so much. Each movement across the tips calculates the good from the bad and the dry from the soaked ones. Picking carefully from the damp ground he continues to decipher one from another quickly as it is what he knows how to do best. Realizing after a bit that there were no other good herbs in the patch, he gets to his feet and places the ones that he was able to collect in his pouch. Picking up his robe and swishing it in the air for a second to get the extra water off. Twirling it to the back of him, Raidou ties the robe to his neck and proceeds to walk quickly to the glowing stones that caught his eyes before. Crouching down in front of the glowing crystals, he places his hand carefully on one of them and begins to move it ever so slightly back and forth to loosen it from the stone. After a moment and taking his time to not shatter this, it eventually breaks loose with no harm. Still crouched, Raidou waddles to the other side of the rock to let loose a few other crystals. As he gets to his feet and places them in the pouch he hears two different giggles, looking up to see a pair of blond girls sitting in front of an opened crate that had somehow found their way in his hidden cove. After glancing around quickly, Raidou tries to walk as silently as possible around and in the back of the girls to get to the crystal set he intended to gather from. As his feet hit the ground softly he unintentionally listens to the chatter and laughter that echoes throughout the cave walls. Paying more attention to the destination than where he was walking, Raidou's foot kicks a stone causing it to skip across the ground and hitting the walls with an echo around them. At this point knowing that he was made, Raidou almost hops the rest of the way to the crystals. The moment he reaches his gathering spot, Raidou crouches down toward the rock and begins gathering what he could hope that the girls were too busy to pay attention to him. As he takes a few steps toward that crate, the familiar chime from receiving a message once more echoes around the three of them. Raidou stops to make sure it wasn't his guild as he opens his HUD but nothing. Moments later a voice clear as day "Freya you promised. You said you would spend the day with me." Raidou walks past the girls to the crate and pulls out the Black Star. "I know Eruda but I also promised him. He says it's really important and that it can't wait." Raidou hears a small sniffle but chooses to leave them be for now as he sticks the tip of the sword inside a crevice to break it open. After little effort, Raidou breaks the top of the crate and gathers its content of different color bolts of thread into the bag meant for such items. Seeing another medium sized crate nearby he walks to it trying to avoid eye contact. "I'll be back, I promise Eruda..." hearing from behind him now. "Don't do that. Don't make promises you know you can't keep. You are going to hang out with your boyfriend and forget about me again. So just go." Raidou sticks the Black Star in a small crack of the crate and uses force to pop the top off again. "Eruda I'm sorry that I..." but before she could finish Eruda yells "LEAVE, IT'S what you're good at anyway" as her voice violently echoes against the walls in this small cave. Freya stands and runs off, out of the cave through the opening. Hearing this girl crying now, and sniffles followed. This makes Raidou on edge a bit, for this was someone that he vaguely remembered seeing once before. Without looking at her, he glances around for another node to collect from. After a moment he sees a hole in the wall with jagged edges to it and having a metallic blue glow around it. Walking to this crack and shoving his arm into it, trying to feel for anything round that would be gemstones. Raidou’s comes across a small rounded object. Taking it in hand, pulling it out from this opening knowing that it was a gemstone. Placing it in his pouch and repeating the process a few more times to make sure he wasn’t missing anything. Without looking, Raidou says building the courage in his belly as he couldn't take not saying something “A-Are you a-alright?” his voice is soft and a bit reluctant with a subtle stutter. Eruda glances up to meet Raidou's orange eyes. "No, but I will be" with this Eruda stands up still with tears in her eyes. Raidou quickly looks around for another gathering spot. Spotting a rock with multiple colors reflecting from in, he walks to it and pulls the Black Star out. With some issues, the sword is pulled over his shoulder. Raidou uses his momentum to pull the sword off his shoulder to the ground against the slightly glowing rock. Underneath the blade, the rock breaks open leaving a few shining bits littering around. Putting his sword away, for now, he gets to one knee and sorts through gathering the small gems laying in the broken down pebbles. His words fall silent as he searches for another gathering spot. I couldn’t bring myself to do it.” Raidou sees another rock but different from the last one. It had many blue distinctive lines across the surface. Taking the Black Star out once again as it hits the ground from the weight. Lifting it just enough so that it didn’t drag, Raidou walks to the ore-filled rock and uses all his strength to lift the sword over his shoulder to bash it against the rock. When the sword connects with the rock, it shatters into multiple different sizes of ore. Putting the sword away, Raidou goes through to find which ones had the most ore strands flowing through them. "You were the first person to see me as a normal human being, and then you were just gone." Eruda says and at this point, Raidou glances over his shoulder after gathering what he could from the rubble obviously distracted with the thickened emotion in the room. Raidou responds “W-Was that your s-sister” as he gets to his feet, placing the ores in his pouch as he glances around for another ore node. Seeing another on the wall a few feet from him, Raidou pulls his sword back out and walks to it with his sword now dragging in on the ground causing sparks behind him. “Yes, Freya and she is a huge jerk” Eruda says a bit angrily. “Freya promised things would be different in this game since we are stuck here but nothing has changed.” Raidou now being close enough to the ore, he uses his momentum to swing the sword upward toward it with a bang. The rock shatters to the ground causing several ore pieces to scatter beneath it. Checking through the materials he has collected, Raidou comes to the conclusion that he needs to find food for his chef. Raidou turns his head to meet Eruda’s watery eyes. Without saying anything being unsure what to say and didn't want to screw it up, he adjusts his glasses on his face and turns away to walk further into the cave. Eruda walks with a distance between them following behind him. Seeing a patch of what looks to be growing mushrooms, Raidou removes his red robe from his neck and proceeds toward this patch. Placing the soft fabric on the damp floor of this cave, he kneels on top to investigate which of the mushrooms were ripe enough to pick. Doing his best to pick out the good from the bad for this was not his expertise. Raidou 1 Posted April 12, 2020 Author #13 Report Share Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) Gathering his thoughts, not wanting to say the wrong thing, Raidou says “H-Have you tried talking to her.” Eruda was silent at the words he spoke when his words glanced outside his more standardized english while he was trying to get a point across "How would a heartbeat without blood to feed it?". Glancing back at Eruda, she is leaning against the wall with her arms folded across her chest with her eyes closed. She didn’t seem to be crying anymore which made him a bit relieved. His eyes dart around the cave to find more products to collect. Catching his eyes was a few rooted leaves growing from under the ground. Picking his robe up off the ground and tying it back to his neck, he walks to these stem like leaves and starts digging around them. Eventually, his hands come into contact with a potato. He does the same to the others littered around collecting what he could. "I have tried more times than I can count. My words don't seem to get through that thick skull of hers" Eruda says with a soft voice seeming to leave his second phrase seemingly unnoticed. I still can’t figure out why it’s always been so easy to talk to you.” Raidou glances her way trying his best to not trip up and second guessing his responses, still leaning against the wall watching him as he puts the potatoes in his pouch. Looking through what he has gathered thus far, Raidou decides that more potion materials wouldn’t hurt. His eyes search carefully in the low lit cave for more herb patches to collect from. After a bit of time and focus, Raidou’s eyes catch a glimpse of several patches littered across the ground further into the cave. Removing his robe once more, he walks quickly to the herbs and places his robe on the ground in front of them. As he picks the robe up to move it to the next patch he says “To be human is to fear, to overcome fear is the human condition. To win war soldiers need to learn to use terror as a weapon.” Placing the robe down in front of the next patch which now he recognizes and blue herbs. As before Raidou kneels down on the fabric and slowly moves his hand over the patch of blue herbs. After some time of focusing Raidou takes his time to pick out the best looking ones from the bunch. Eruda watches him with keen eyes. Intrigued by Raidou’s motions and pure focus, she walks a bit closer to stand against the wall next to him making sure not to step on any of the herb patches littered around the cave grounds, watching him as he works. Placing the robe on the ground in front of the now noticeable yellow herbs, he takes to the ground once again. Slowly moving his hand over them, focused on the task at hand Eruda speaks again “Even if you don’t speak much, it’s still nice that you're not like the others. I know that we only just met a while ago but I feel a form of comfort around you.” Eruda drags her back against the wall to sit. “I’m sorry if I am bothering you,” saying as her words fall silent. After some time Raidou picks the good quality herbs and gets to his feet. Placing the yellow herbs in his pouch he repeats the process. Picks up the robe and moves to the next patch. Getting to his knees, like clockwork, both hands move slowly above the golden herbs. These herbs have a slight glow to them. Almost like the torches of crystalline light on the walls were reflecting off them. Eruda watches his process of elimination with these herbs and notices how happy he became after seeing them. Eruda crawls to the other side of this patch and in a small voice asks “How do you know which ones to pick.” Without a moment of thought, Raidou begins to explain in almost a monologue from an instructor "A simple brush yields a glowing golden glimmer on the peaks of the leaves, see how they shine for a second when they spring back upright?". Placing it once again in front of a small white herb patch, he kneels down and begins again. Eruda gets up and follows sitting across from him on the other side studying his movements. Raidou begins waving his hands above these metallic pure white herbs that also seem to have a slight glow to them. Some time passes before he can decipher one from another but he eventually starts picking the herbs from the softened soil. He does this with such elegance as he knew exactly what he was doing. Eruda smiles at this as she watches him pick the herbs with a graceful movement. “Will we meet again?” Eruda begins to get sad again. Not knowing what she would do after this. Placing the robe on the ground once again and kneels down in front of the dark purple herb patch. “The stars will align in all constellations, eventually the lights in the sky find the same point.” Raidou speaks as he looks in her direction. Eruda gets up and follows pursuit, sitting on the other side of the patch. Raidou’s hands begin the elimination process. These herbs have water droplets dripping from them. It seems that water is dripping from the ceiling of the cave. “Well regardless, thank you for listening. Keep up the good work Raidou. I really do hope to see you again” she says with a small smile that wasn’t very convincing even to her. Eruda gets to her feet and begins walking to the exit. Eruda turns to Raidou to meet his eyes before exiting who Raidou shouts a final word "Eruda, thanks for the robe. I wear it every day." As she falls below the wall and exits. Raidou not knowing what to think refocuses on the herbs. With little effort, he recognizes the good from the bad and picks them carefully. After a bit of time, Raidou gets to his feet and places the herbs in the right pouch. He ties it back to his belt and picks up his red robe, shaking off the water before tying that back on. Raidou 1 Posted April 12, 2020 Author #20 Report Share Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) He was finished and found a bit of emotional turbulence that was uncommon to be found in him, Taking a quick gander about to look for a chest before exiting as the cardinal had a nasty habit of dropping one at the last minute. His sights set on a hidden container behind a rose stalagmite stone pillar from the grotto floor. Checking it carefully to the best of his abilities it seems to have no rigging that shows it to be trapped and intended to do the nomad harm. The box was old wood that looked as though it was splintering at the gapping between the iron trim that encompassed the paneling that composed the entirety of it. Lifting the lid and running his hand along the seam to check for any wires that may have something inside waiting for an unknowing victim to haphazardly opening it and setting it off.
