[SP|F11] <<Nature's Treasure>> Drops

Recommended Posts

Having heard of a good place to farm, albeit hesitantly, the boy decided to make a bold move and teleport to the eleventh floor. With a somewhat discouraged expression he stepped out of the teleporter, keeping Blizz close to him. "There's meant to be a garden not too far away from the town that monsters with good loot sit around at... With Blizz' help, maybe I can start getting some materials for tier 2 for me and Shay. It won't be long before we reach it anyways, I'm just two levels away...", he thought to himself as he silently exited and moved outside of the safezone, headed towards a more vegetated part of the fields to the side.

There was a forest by the side with ant-looking humanoid creatures, so it was best to let them be considering just how strong they could be in comparison to everything he'd fought thus far. With his focus on the garden, his companion in one hand held close to his chest and his other hand onto his sword's hilt, he eventually arrived at the garden with a small smile and let out a sigh of relief. Monsters existed there too, but if what he'd heard was right, they wouldn't attack unless he provoked them first. That was a relief. Deciding to buff himself up, he took out his lunch and started digging right in.

Needles to say, the boy shared some of it with his friend, watching him dig right in without much trouble when given some of the rations he'd packed from that trip he'd taken the other day. "Ready to go at it, Blizz? We can find some mighty good loot, I'm sure about it. Just try our hardest and fight together, yeah~?", he encouraged his companion which responded with a croak. That was enough for him, to be honest. "Alright then, let's give it a shot.", the bluehead got up and dusted himself, feeling much more confident with the buffs of his food.

He knew that some monsters were alone here, but he wanted to try taking on more than one at a time. His new weapon would make up for any range that he'd lose, and he already had plenty of Area of Effect attacks unlike his partner rogue. As he stepped further ahead, he noticed two plant-like monsters sulking about in the garden together, taking a battle ready stance and gesturing for Blizz to do the same. It wasn't long before he plunged at them and tried slamming the pommel of his sword into them.

Having successfully stunned them both in quick succession, he grinned as Blizz hopped onto the flat of his blade that he held by the side, quickly creating a thin layer of ice over it before shifting back onto his partner's body to let him slash freely at them. With a deep breath and a loud heave, the boy swung his blade at the two Nepents that were just now snapping out of it, playing the encounter as carefully as he could to not risk his life. He wouldn't want that, especially without Shay around to save him if things began to go south.

With his new sword art coming into play, under the thin ice his blade began to glow a bright green and he sent six angular strokes right their way, damaging one by quite the hefty amount, although the other appeared to dodge the strike before returning quite the hit itself. "Tch, that's nothing!", the boy shouted, jumping back and trying to quickly regain his composure for the next attack. He'd probably use this sword art again, aiming to take the almost dead one out and to cripple the other.

The ice on the boy's blade had shattered, but without even asking Blizz, he took the chance to hop on the sword and give it another layer of sharpness whilst the bluehead was resting shortly. With a quick shake of his head, he took the same stance as before, letting his blade glow a green brighter than before and putting on a much more savage glare on his face. "Thanks for that Blizz. Let's finish this!", he said in a pumped up tone, running towards the Nepents and beginning to unleash the same flurry of angular strikes as before, one after the other with little room to dodge in between.

The weaker of the two monsters got wiped right out, which was good. It appeared handling two at once wasn't that far out of Chase's reach, as the loot window appeared. With a quick glance, he dismissed it and focused all of his attention on the remaining enemy in hopes of taking it out swiftly before it could put him in any real danger.

Although he was sure it was within the range of a basic attack, the boy held back slightly and simply sneered at the enemy, deciding to take the safe route of using a sword art to chip off the last bit of HP that it had. Going back to his starts, he used a low rank one as his blade began to glow a bright purple, gripping the hilt of his blade tightly and swiftly covering the gap between the two with the thrust of his attack. It felt as if time was slowing down once more as he began to realise the hurdle he was just about to overcome, and how far this would get him in terms of a headstart, even in the second tier.

As he ended up behind his opponent, he looked over his back to see it split in half and turn into blue shards, disappearing into the air. After yet another deep sigh, its loot window appeared in front of Chase, which got his attention. Now that he was no longer in combat, he read it at his own leisure and let Blizz look at it too.

Once he'd dismissed the window, the boy turned to his familiar now seated on his shoulder, giving it a small smile and placing his broadsword back in its sheathe that was now on his back. "I don't have a feel for the weapon yet, but the damage I took was way too little. Are you alright little guy?", he asked only to receive a croak and have the pangolin nuzzle his neck slightly, giving a chuckle. "I'll take that as a yes then. Let's sit by the side for a while, yeah?", the boy proposed as he moved back to the void of monsters spot where they had lunch just earlier, taking a seat and whistling.

It was then though that he realised, if the monsters are passive to begin with, it was a good time to find some materials while regenerating his health points. "Oh, right. Look around for anything that glows, tell me if you see so-... Eh... Run at it and I'll come over. Alright?", he grinned as the duo began to look around.

As he spotted something, both him and Blizz began to head on right towards it. The boy picked it up and stashed it into his inventory, grinning at the amount of items they had managed to gather already. It was by no means bad, and it certainly would help get them quite the gear by the looks of it. "C'mon, let's keep this up until we're a bit more rested and then let's take two more monsters down, alright bud?", he laid the plan out, making sure he'd at least done his best to warn the familiar of their course of action. This was certainly going to be an effective attempt at churning out some items for the small party that was forming with the familiar having joined in on the fray.

"So it appears the rumors were true... It's easier to find something around these parts, but definitely not drowning in materials. That's alright, as long as Shay doesn't have to strain herself too.", the boy's thoughts continued on and on.

It wasn't hard for even him to notice just how often he ended up monologuing, be it with himself or when trying to 'talk' to his familiar that reminded him more and more of a pet rather than a tamed and befriended monster. This got him thinking more and more though, about what Shay's familiar would and could look like when she finally got one. "Say, what animal would even fit her? You haven't seen her, so you don't know, huh?", he looked down at Blizz who simply gave a confused look. Yeah, he probably couldn't make the connection whatsoever, but it only made sense. It was hard to understand Chase's speech, especially about someone whose name he'd only heard as another word.

This led to a segway on what Shay would think of Blizz, in Chase's mind. He wasn't sure since she'd never really talked about monsters in Aincrad, let alone familiars, but he came from her home floor at that. Maybe she'd appreciate the cold about him and like it more because of it, or maybe not. He didn't know her well enough to be able to tell, really.

Picking up the final material he spotted for their small break while finishing up his thoughts, the boy noticed two more Nepents further ahead with a smirk on his face. "You good to go?", blue asked his familiar who, in return, climbed onto his clothes and eventually seated itself atop his head on its own. "I'll take that as a yes then. Let's try to practice the same combo I kind of failed before. Tempest, then Calamitous Destroyer.", he mumbled lowly to himself. It would be a question of why he does that if he hadn't noticed just how much this helped him focus his mind on the task at hand.

With a brief moment of collecting all of his focus, he shifted his weight onto his legs and began to run at his opponents, taking his sword out and attempting to slam its pommel right towards their 'heads', so to call them, in order to daze them and keep them still for the next attack to be chained perfectly.

Having successfully hit the both of them, his stance shifted. Blizz jumped right off of his head, rolling slightly in the air before trying to land onto the two enemies one after the other and provide some additional damage to his partner using its scaled tail to slam right into them with its back side. The synergy between the two was beginning to grow, and it wasn't hard to tell that it would definitely only get better over time. He himself launched the same area of effect sword art as before, slashing and hacking at his opponents wildly, but doing all in his power to avoid hitting Blizz at all costs.

Although he landed one of his strikes, he missed the other and got punished with a critical from one Nepent, as well as a weak strike from the one that was low on health, which finished itself off like so due to Chase's immolation potion. It didn't take long before the loot window appeared, although he quickly dismissed it.

This was the first time that Chase had seen his health reach this low, practically just barely above the yellow zone he didn't know existed. Hell, he'd never seen his health bar reach yellow or red, and he'd probably freak out if that happened. With a cautious look in his eyes, he began to withdraw slightly and looked at Blizz who was fast to return by his side, giving him a subtle nod. His sword began to glow red as he charged back in for a finishing blow, lifting his sword above his head at an angle and after taking aim, slashing down to cut the Nepent in half and put an end to this swift encounter as well.

With the monster getting cut successfully, maybe too effectively at that, it disappeared with the familiar blip. That was enough to let Chase sigh deeply, both out of relief and a sense of accomplishment. He looked at the loot window that popped up, hiding his blade back inside its scabbard once more.

Deciding that keeping his health this low wasn't going to do him any favors, the boy opened up his inventory and quickly took out three Rare Health Potions he was packing all this time, popping one open. Except for that Safeguard potion and the antidote for two specific quests, it was the first time he ever had to use an item in order to recover or protect himself from harm, and saying it felt weird was just an understatement. With a deep sigh and a shrug though, he had no choice but to chug them down one by one if he wanted to feel safer in regards to his overall health.

One after the other, his health progressively kept increasing more and more, until it was almost back to full again. Still green, for sure, but much higher and closer to his maximum limit. He could probably off another pair of enemies alongside Blizz, who surprisingly didn't seem that tired. Come think of it, his HP was there, but it seemed as stagnant as ever, never dropping or raising any.

"Give me just a minute and I'll be ready, alright? I'm just sorting out my inventory. Don't worry about the monsters if we aren't in a fight together, okay?", blue quickly reassured his partner before going to sorting his items better so that he could access them faster, even if they weren't in his battle-ready inventory, which was beginning to empty up quite quickly with all of this fighting going on and on. That was alright though, he'd made more money than any single quest had given him before thus far, and all that with just four takedowns in half the time it took him to usually finish a quick, easy quest solo.

This spot was really doing wonders, and if that was anything to go by, he hoped it'd continue to do just that. Hell, he'd even grown quite unlucky with his drops by the look of it, with most monsters dropping quite low-rarity items. But seeing as they were of the higher tier, he didn't mind that a bit. Even better, they were his first 'grabs', even of such caliber.

Given just how many materials he'd collected, he was certain that they'd be enough at least for one person's set of gear. Meaning that if he came back and farmed a few monsters just like he did now, he'd not only get a good amount of Col ready, but also get more materials to start making some proper trinkets himself once he got more familiarised with the profession system and ranked up so his chances were improved ever so slightly. "Say, with these materials, Shay could make some of her songs too. I wonder just how many she knows how to play."

There was incredibly much to do and think about when it came to this field trip, or any further field trips like this to follow. Perhaps with Shay, since he was going to be getting them both some gear, they could come together from here on out and split the loot amongst themselves when they took some time off of quests. Having rested properly, the boy shrugged it off and signalled the familiar to move along with him, so that they could get back to taking out the final pair of mobs for the day.

He could see two Nepents laying around the exit of the Garden, looking down at Blizz to make sure the duo was on the same page. With a thumbs up, the pangolin croaked at him and they took off to engage with the Nepents. Trying to perfect the combo from group combat that Chase had learned, he took a deep breath and whilst taking his sword out, held it so that its pommel would meet both of them right away in quick succession to lift them in the daze. All the while, Blizz ran ahead of him to try and use his frost breath for a slight burn on their roots.

The attack landed on both, getting a screech out of them and allowing the duo to quickly reposition just a few steps back. Although he'd had quite bad luck given how much he had taken care to avoid letting any windows for evading between his attacks, every try thus far was unsuccessful at perfecting the combo on all enemies.

With that in his mind, he had high hopes in this final encounter that he'd successfully strike them both with this next attack. He hadn't used it enough to get accustomed to it, but every other sword art he'd used he'd usually get a feel for relatively quickly. Now taking a deep breath as per usual, he cleared his mind of all thoughts and switched his stance to shift his weight onto his front foot, sliding the other behind himself and kicking the ground to lunge right at his opponents. Then, he began to unleash the same flurry of strikes as every other time, one after the other with as much strength as he could.

Heaving at his attacks, his voice drowned out once he'd heard the familiar blip not once but twice. He hit critically on both strikes, effectively taking the both of them out before they even managed to get an attack on him- even if they hadn't been killed, they'd be paralyzed from his attack. "W-Woah..."

"We outdid ourselves, Blizz.", the boy chirped with a wide grin from ear to ear at his familiar, picking him up and putting him on his shoulder as he let out a deep sigh. On his way towards the exit of the garden, an idea came to mind as he turned to look back with a smirk beginning to form on his face. Ever since picking this little guy up, he began to grow a bit of a habit, and no better place to exercise that habit than here, the spot with the best luck when it came to drops and loot. "Nah, actually... Let's leave in a moment. For now, we have to look for a few more materials and then, a treasure chest for our efforts, no~?"

He jested before seeing the blue mammal simply tilt its head at his words. It didn't quite get what he had to say, but that was alright. With a bit of good luck, Blizz would understand and Chase would make it out of there with all that much more loot. For now though, he turned his attention to the ground where he looked for materials that could have spawned around.

An idea came to mind, as it usually does, and Chase silently looked to the side at the pangolin once more, rubbing his chin with an eye cocked up. "Can you actually look for materials? Or is that some form of 'training' you gotta do and you do that instead of provide me with damage buffs? Probably the latter, but... It'd be cool, right?", he went on another monologue to receive no answer whatsoever from the little fellow who was pretty much following him around. In the meantime, Chase moved further to the side and kept on looking for something, squinting his eyes. "Maybe killing all the monsters pushed the material too far into the grass to see..."

"And maybe some just didn't get knocked away~.", he snickered and crouched to pick a shiny rock up, rubbing it with the sleeve of his jacket and making it glisten before stashing it away in his inventory. He was certainly going to make a jewel worthy of its material like this sooner or later.

After he'd attempt to find one more, it was about time to begin looking for the treasure chest. With a crack of his knuckles, he prepared himself to bust it open in case he found it using his sword like he had done with the last two, but he had some time to 'warm up', mentally and physically until then. Funny that he tried to warm up after having killed six monsters, but it is what it is. "Let's look for one more, then it's time to hopefully find some more goodies in a chest around the garden, alright Blizz~?", the boy chirped, only to get a croak in response.

He was beginning to question whether or not the pangolin was croaking as an attempt at agreeing with him or just a response to the overall noise he made, but... Oh well, that's an answer he'd never get. Unless he found a way to talk to it, which probably wasn't the case, even if he thought it possible due to game logic and the like.

And now he understood the true joy of this repeatable quest of sorts, the true 'Nature's Treasure', as he marched towards not one, but two materials that he spotted on the ground. Two identical gems that he could turn into rocks just like the latter, shining brighter than ever. With a huff, he puffed his chest out and picked the two up, stashing them away in his inventory as he realised just how many second tier materials he'd collected in this simple trip compared to his first tier ones. The tier two count was now higher than the first, to his surprise.

With this good spirit at hand, he began to look for a treasure chest once he took Blizz in his hand and made sure the sword was secured on his back in its scabbard, beginning to hum a low melody to himself. Sadly, nothing came into sight. That's not to say they didn't get out of there empty-handed though. "That's alright, let's head home and tell Shay of all the loot we got, yeah~? Time for you to meet her too.", he teased, keeping Blizz safe in his hands in a hug as he marched back to town to turn the quest in.
