[F9-PP] Stoking the Flame (Training your friend) Yui's Grace #2

Recommended Posts

The plate now rounded and set, Griswold takes it to a stone mimic of a human torso and latches it over the shoulder. It fit snuggly around it rather well, and what happens next is Griswold beckons Vulcan to his side, feeding him another piece of quicksilver. Taking the superheated bar of metal away with a pair of calipers he starts to hammer away for the next piece of the plating he was building. Out of the finest quality metals, this piece would surely be powerful once done, but plate armor had a tendency to be resource intensive. As was his cobalt full body, although this was a partial covering it would stake quite a number of sections. "Keep working at it, Rome wasn't built in a day and that tired feeling is simply a burn showing you're close." Griswold offered Elda, for if it was his blood running through her she'd hardly give up so easily.

With a small grin, she glances at Griswold saying "I know this, I aced History. Okay Raserei, we are close. Let us try it again, flame up, and hold it." Eruda gets to her feet and Vulcan after being done with what he was doing he walks a bit closer to investigate what was going on. Raserei stands to her feet as well and gives a small growl but it was not a mad or irritated growl. It was more of a determination noise as if she wanted to do as she was asked of. Eruda watches as Raserei's breathing gets a bit heavier. Vulcan walks to the other side of Eruda as if he knew where Raserei was going to land, to meet her on the other side of the firey drop. Raserei turns to her transparent form and takes one last deep breath before her body bursts and blue flames start to dance around her. "Good Raserei, hold that and let it build up. We are so close, you can do it," Eruda balls her hands into fists as if waiting for the feeling that she knew was coming.

Bending and twisting a now hammered flat piece that mirrored the first, Griswold tosses it into the trough of water and heats another. He was content working steel while Elda worked on teaching her beast as she had, offering his mallet to his own to keep it burning hot as well. Griswold could not help but notice the similarities between them both. Flames and shields, to those that would look on it, would become rather obvious that they were related which begged the question of why neither had noticed this until now. With the corner of his eye with a shower of sparks, he kept working while subtly watching little Elda work to earn her magics from the wolf pup. Pride firmed his grip with a grin, for she was just as thick headed and determined as he was and from what he'd seen prior just as tenacious when it mattered most.

When Eruda though Raserei held it long enough, Eruda gave a nod toward her and the moment she goes to jump toward her, the flames fall and Raserei turns back to her solid form. Instead of going through Eruda, she crashes into her chest and Eruda quickly catches her wolf pup in her arms. Raserei gives a winning sound as Eruda says "It's okay little one. We have time, we just have to work at it. We can't give up yet." Raserei being in Eruda's arms looks slightly up and gives her a small lick on her cheek. Eruda smiles and places her head against her pups as she closes her eyes. She knew that this wouldn't be easy to do but she was not ready to give up until she saw the final results. Taking a small breath of comfort between the two she says "Let's take a small break and recoup then we will try again." The pup gives a small coo as Eruda hugs the pup and sets her to the ground. Eruda takes out a small bottle of water and a dish and fills it letting Raserei drink from it.

A couple more sections of plating added to the bath like the ones before it, they were beginning to pile up. Placing his mallet down and leaning down to scoop them out, he begins to puzzle them together across the mannequin before adding an occasional rivet to connect them. "It's comin' together nicely, don't you think?" Griswold asks of Elda, his meaning less derived toward the armor's construction. The blonde took to feeding and offering respite to her pet, a show of respect for the difficulty and the follow through to continue. "Just a few more pieces and I think it will do nicely." Griswold comments with it now shaping the front half of a half plate, spinning it around to begin work on the back. A smith through and through, he was making pieces of equipment at a staggering rate and they all seemed to be focused toward someone.

As Raserei rests and takes to the water placed, it became empty. She refilled the dish with the remainder on the water in the bottle and looks to the work that her father at managed to create in just a short time. "It looks great and I am sure that it will be amazing when it's finished given that you made it. I never actually thank you personally for your equipment. So, thank you." She gives Griswold a soft smile and walks to the pieces placed already. She runs her fingers across the smooth surface of the almost completed armor with sincere eyes gazing upon it in amazement. "This is surely going to be a masterpiece when finished." Vulcan walks to Eruda and looks up, it seems that he was starting to grow fond of her as well. Giving a pet to his head as she hears Raserei behind her give a small howl. Looking behind her saying "I guess that's my cue," as she makes her way back to the young determined wolf.

Unending he begins to shape more of the sections that would make up the plate, allowing Elda the focus to train her beast fully without his distractions. It was nice to share these subtle moments with the girl, having just put a moniker to her name being able to support her like this was more than adequate. "Aye girl, anytime. I am glad that I got to forge your gear. Can't have you rushing into battle with garbage strapped to your arm, this way I know you're safe." he goads a bit at his competition, knowing that there were some that could reproduce something similar but they were few and far between. When it came to metalworking Griswold held himself upon a pedestal, finding nothing that would be less than amazing would ever leave his shop. He'd sooner melt it back down into molten mineral then place Tristram steel's insignia upon it.

"Honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. Your armor is better than everyone else that may produce the same work just for the simple fact that you put your heart into every piece. Others may just see it as something to bargain with. This is what makes you different than all the others." Giving him a small smile, she was starting to feel the warm feeling that she craved from her father all those years ago, it was finally happening. Standing in front of Raserei now she looks down toward her as her fists ball up again. A small blue flame appears under Eruda's feet, as she was starting to get used to activate it on the spot. "Ready girl," shes says as Raserei gives a small excitement howl and turns transparent once more. Vulcan starts to walk around Eruda once again like he knew something that she didn't but Eruda decided to ignore it for now and focus. Blue flames begin to form under Raserei as they prepare once more hoping for both that this time would be the big moment they were waiting for.

Griswold whistles trying to get Vulcan away from the pair, appearing rather nosy and pushy being the third wheel. The elemental doesn't budge, Griswold lifts some pooled slag. A roughened hunk of waste produced when ingot's were refined into a more pure form, Griswold chucks it at the fire hound. It bounces idly off his butt, seemingly unfazed and unaware that it had happened. "Damn pain in my a**." Griswold comments, just allowing him to stand until Elda was finished. He'd drag him away after, shaking his head as he applied a couple more panels to the under construction armor. Vulcan watches on with a burned out glow lightly emanating from him, fixated on the duo rather heavily. The smith had never seen him so driven with intent with a pause of his hammer, usually a slothful pile of stone and fire. With a raise of one brow, perhaps it knew something he had not.

An intense gaze between Eruda and Raserei leaves the blue flames dancing around the contained building. She hears behind her, Vulcan huff as Raserei lets out a howl like none other that she has done before. Moments laters Eruda grins with a nod toward her. Raserei takes a few steps backwards to get a running start before making a swift jump toward Eruda in her transparent flaming form. The moment Raserei enters Eruda, she could feel the warmth, a sort of bond between them that wasn't there before. Raserei lands on the ground behind Eruda with a sliding halt as a large burst of flames illuminate from both of them this time. With Vulcan being in the blast Radius, he consumes some of the blue fire himself and changes slight form. Eruda looks herself over and she was still in a firey state as the flames from the burst between them had stayed. Glancing toward Vulcan who gave out a bellowing howl, took on a bluish hue as the same flames danced upon him as they did on Eruda. "Wow," Eruda manages to say as all the flames fade and Vulcan stays lit in blue, burning brighter than normal. Raserei turns back to solid form and Eruda drops to her knees in awed not able to say anything.

Eruda spends the rest of the day at her father's shop making up for lost times and eventually, Vulcan fades to his normal form and temp. This was a day that Eruda would remember, cherish, and hold onto in battle knowing now that anything is possible.
