The threat had its intended effect.  Gru-Shu quickly grabbed the missive and re-read it aloud, confirming that it gave away the location of the chief and the route that Uso-Tsuki intended to take to reach him, bypassing most of his defenses in the process.  Calling up his maps of the floor, Freyd had to grudgingly admit that they were far from complete.  Still, it looked like there was at least one bridge span where he might be able to isolate and ambush them.  The man would likely have guards.  There was no time for reinforcements.  

"Well, Persi, looks like this will be just you and me."  A cool shiver under his jacket suggested that she was as eager as always.

He traded Gru-Shu his rake back for the missive and helped him down off the wall.  

"Thanks for the help," he added, nodding his appreciation.

"Same to you," the old man said, tapping the shaft of the rake against his bald head in some sort of strange sanitorial salute.

Persi and Freyd raced out of the Colosseum, bound for their chosen ambush site.  It would be a tough slog to make it in time, which was, of course the moment where they ran by a side alley full of treasure chests, all conveniently marked down by 20%.  Someone was having a sale on chests?  The place was a housing accessories vendor's shop apparently, but Freyd couldn't help thinking that it would be the perfect place to hide a real one... or an entire gaggle of mimics.  Right.  Next time.

Turning back towards his original goal, the Whisper in Shadows became just that, finding darkened shortcuts and hidden passages to help speed his way onto his next mission, or the next part of this one.  Whatever.  There were always going to be more quests ahead.  This one had offered more leads.  Perhaps the next one might offer answers, or even the next after that, and so on.
