"Oh I see, it's still impressive that you were able to upgrade it into a better weapon." Ozwald praised the tall blue haired man that was standing beside him, having just finished explaining his unique sword. "Let's go find Ol' Pete" Ozwald said walking along the bank of the lake in order to find the old and decrepit fisherman.

Upon locating the fisherman Ozwald handed over the package saying "the young artisan Hannah sent me to give this to you." Ozwald waited for the old man to speak again patiently "Ah thankyou," Pete said opening the package to reveal a sturdy fishing rod "This is for catching big fish, but I need a strong man to help me. Do you think you can help?"  Ozwald gladly accepted the quest eager to once again prove himself to his frontline companion, looking back Ozwald waited for Chase to join him be Pete.

Despite all the fidelity with the menus that Ozwald had shown, he still didn't realize just how simple using an Essence of Steel was. You pick your item, upgrade it into one rarity higher, and pick a normal enhancement. There was nothing fancy about it, same way there was little impressive from getting a guaranteed unique. Then again, impressive or not, they still both carried their weight in Chase's arsenal and that's ultimately what mattered the most. "Right.", he nodded and followed along over to the old man, just waving at him. When they all got onto the boat, the bluehead sighed and took a seat around the back.

"You start fishing, and I'll row the boat. Get started as soon as I get us out of the lakeside.", he told him and picked up an oar, pushing the boat further away from the outskirts of the lake and further on inside. Once they were a fair distance away from the shore, it seemed as if they would be able to fish fairly easily with how shallow the waters no longer were. Many shadowed figures could be seen swimming down below, some alarmingly larger than others. Thankfully though, Oz had little reason to be afraid as is.

Joining Chase in the boat Ozwald pulled out the fishing rod he had been given, waiting until they were deep enough into the water for him to cast his line. Looking into the water below Ozwald could see the varying sizes of shadows swimming around underneath their boat, not at all worried at the size knowing that Chase could deal with anything they encountered on the first floor.

Once they were deep enough into the water Ozwald pulled back his fishing rod and let it fly far out into the water. waiting and watching for any sign that something was biting on the fishing line. Several moments passed when finally the line bounced as something bit. Ozwald began reeling in the line as fast as he could, noticing a rather odd lack of fight coming from the fish that he was pulling in. when the end of the line reached the boat a tiny fish was all that was attached to the line squirming trying to find air. "I don't think fishing is exactly my forte." Ozwald remarked freeing the fish and throwing it back into the lake.

Chase chuckled and just nodded, continuing to slowly row around the middle of the lake. They'd need plenty of deep waters if they were to catch the real deal- no tiny fish. Of course, it wasn't the King of the Lakes either, but it was something not to be underwhelmed. A sword-fish, and a dangerous one for a game all about swords. "I'm not good with it either, you're fine.", he joked and continued to let them go around the center of the lake while Ozwald's future attempts to catch the damn fish would work. It was now slowly starting to strike Chase.

All this time, he'd been pumping through quests day in and day out, never taking one to rest. The biggest break he'd taken were the two days worth of travel that he needed to do to get over to the Cerberus' Lair back with 'NIGHT'. "... It's surprisingly relaxing to come back here for a start, isn't it?", he thought to himself and lifted his head, looking up at the sky while rowing very slowly. He didn't want Oz to lose balance just because of him and fall into the waters, where it'd be more probable the fish would find him rather than the opposite.

Looking over at his pensive friend Ozwald decided that he would keep quiet and just enjoy the peace of the lake. Once again raising back his fishing line Ozwald cast the line far out into the water watching it sail like a bird on a string before splashing quietly into the water. Ozwald didn't think he would manage to catch the fish Ol' Pete was looking for this time, but he still hoped.

Feeling another bite on his line Ozwald began reeling in the fish, knowing instantly by the pull the fish was capable of making that this was not the one that he was looking for. Finally reaching the boat Ozwald grabbed the line and pulled out what was the most comically small fish he had ever seen. The fish couldn't have been much bigger than his pinky, Ozwald sighed once again releasing the unwanted fish into the water.

The only thing that snapped Chase out of it was Oz' comically tiny fish. He chuckled a bit awkwardly and dropped the oars by him inside the boat, keeping both hands behind his head and continuing to look up. Hell, if no monsters were around he would even dip his hand in the water and enjoy himself to the fullest- he wouldn't though, not because he was scared but because the image of a fish biting him was enough to get him to feel the pain and get uncomfortable. "... It's very quiet here, isn't it?", he finally said with a smile on his lips, seeming at peace.

Maybe this was one of the only days, if not the only one, that he felt like he was at home in Aincrad. He knew every floor that he'd crossed except for a fair few, he'd done most quests there were to do and by now they were completely delved into. He knew the ins and outs of this world he considered a prison even a few weeks ago, and didn't mind staying around any more. At least he didn't feel like he was being held hostage anymore. "... You're familiar with the menus and all, right?"

"It is kind of peaceful isn't it? reminds me of home." Ozwald reminisced until he heard Chase's second question "Yeah I taught myself how to use them fairly early on, back when this all started." Ozwald talked about SAO like it didn't really matter much to him that he was trapped in this death game. Loading his fishing hook with more bait Ozwald silently cast his hook back deep into the water.

"It's odd I almost feel as though i am more comfortable here than I ever was in the real world." Ozwald remarked mostly to himself. feeling a bite on his line again Ozwald began reeling in the fish. The force on the line was much larger this time, and it was really a contender for the big fish they were looking for. Finally struggling to pull the fish to the boat, a giant sword fish leaped high into the air out of the water, spraying the boat with shimmering droplets of water "But now isn't the time for reminiscing" Ozwald said sliding his sword out of its scabbard.

With the swordfish jumping out of the water, Chase slowly started to dust himself and stood up in the boat, one hand resting on his sword and the other on his hip. He waited to see what Oz could do, and if he could land another successful attack. After all, that was their deal. "Hit it once and I'll do the rest. If you can take a hit for your start as a tank, that's bonus points.", he instructed and watched the two silently. As the swordfish still lingered in the air, its body splashed left and right. It was starting to align itself with Oz, quickly maneuvering in the air and turning to face him.

Now was the time to see- would the swordfish land an attack and knock him off balance, would they exchange blows or maybe Oz is the one to fend the swordfish off with a slash? It was good to see somebody as low leveled as him to get stronger progressively- maybe even too fast, for whatever reason. He went through the same incredibly quick growth after all, too.

Ozwald smiled at the reference to bonus points, looking at the Swordfish high in the air Ozwald could tell that it was going to try to stab him as it flew past into the water. preparing himself Ozwald waited for the fish to fly at him so that he could make his counter attack. After what was just a few short moments the sword fish flew at Ozwald, aiming to pierce him with his sword like nose, Ozwald sidestepped at the last second taking his sword and stabbing into the side of the fish letting its dive into the water do all of the work for him. Ozwald's blade left a line of red all the way from its head to the tip of its tail, as it splashed back into the water, once again splashing the boat with gleaming water drops that reflected the sun overhead. Jumping back out of the water the fish prepared for another attack, its wound not quite fading.

Although Chase was ready to draw his sword and slice and dice the swordfish, he noticed just how much damage Grimm had dealt in a single blow and even the status condition he managed to afflict it with. There should be no problem given his damage output in taking the damn thing out, so he might as well change his plans. "That's a strong blow. Keep it up- you can take it down on your own. The first attack hurts but it shouldn't even scratch you past that.", he nodded to himself and watched the swordfish plop back inside the waters.

Even while submerged, he could see its health bar staying just above the waters, having gotten chopped to barely above half. What a surprise, it had taken so much damage from somebody that had invested literally nothing into his weapons, too. "If the bleed keeps up, he'll wipe it out if it lands a single hit. His armor's no joke- I didn't remember tier one being this dangerous... He's barely got the starter gear, yet he's holding his own ground pretty well. Hm."

The fish dived out of the water heading straight for Ozwald, leaving him no time to respond to Chase's statement. Ozwald grabbed his sword stepping forward in order to stab at the swordfish, but the slippery floor of the boat caused Ozwald to stumble and he was able to neither attack nor defend against the swordfish's attack. Flying through the air the swordfish stabbed through Ozwald's arm, being torn in the side by the tendrils of darkness coming out of Ozwald's armor. The fish landed in the water, its health bar slowly draining as it swam around underneath the boat, jumping into the air presumably for one last attack the swordfish burst into an explosion of blue particles that showered down on the boat much like the droplets of water had before. Ozwald grabbed his sword and slid it back into its scabbard turning to face Chase, a smile showing on his lips.

Chase didn't have much to say. Instead, he dropped both of his arms and clapped, returning a small smile before sitting back down on the boat and grabbing both oars. They had little to do now that their target was down, so back to the docks they went to get Ozwald's reward from Ol' Pete. "You're good. Didn't get hurt any, right?", he asked to check and gave a small smile while they were still rowing back, looking over at where the fish had hit him. While it had already closed, his health hadn't fully regenerated yet. It was interesting though, seeing him absorb so much damage.

Tanking could really take you somewhere- he hadn't gotten hit by the fish using a stun and then direct attack when he was onto the mission, but his mitigation was non-existent. It surprised him, to watch people push tier one to its absolute limits like this. "Oh, and... Before you level way too much, there's one more quest we should do. Venomous Warg. We'll go over before you move on to the rest, okay?", he laid out the plan the same way that Shay had for him, waiting for his response.

"Venomous Warg. . .? I haven't heard of that quest at all." Ozwald said racking his memory for any mention of this quest "I will follow you boss, you know best." Ozwald reclined lazily in the boat, dipping his hands into the water and closing his eyes, listening to the sounds of the lake, waiting for Chase to reach the shore.

Hearing and feeling the thud of the ship hitting beach and sand Ozwald opened his eyes staring at the vibrant blue sky and the clouds that were moving across them, they may have been virtual, but they were still beautiful. Ozwald stood up, and stepped out of the boat. "Wait here, I'll go find Ol' Pete" Ozwald told his new blue haired friend walking down the beach to where he though Ol' Pete might be. Finding Ol' Pete Ozwald told him that they had caught the fish that he had wanted, and escorted him back to their boat where he could grab the swordfish that was lying in it. "Thankyou" the old fisherman said handing Ozwald his rewards for the quest before wandering away.

When Ozwald returned from delivering the quest, Chase thought it better to start making a plan on what quests to tackle for him to level up while they were at it. They still had some time to spare before they got over to killing the Warg, however. "Let's get everything in line. I've time to spare so I'll help you out. So let's put some quests in order.", he began while they slowly marched over back to the settlement, scratching the back of his head. He opened up his quest log and thought that while a big plan would be too much for now, maybe planning the next one or two quests in advance would do.

"Right now, we're off to tackle the Venomous Warg. The quest was intended to be done in pairs, but right now it'd be too dangerous for you, so I'll give you a hand with weaker sword arts. After that, we should do... Earning a Living, to get you a profession so you can start crafting for yourself, and Secret Medicine of the Forest. If you think you can handle gathering a few materials on your own, we'll let you do Earning a Living later down the line on your own. For now, Long Live the Queen and Medicine of the Forest can do once we're over with the Warg. Any questions?"

"No I don't have any questions." Ozwald said walking alongside his no longer new compatriot "It all seems fairly straight forward." Ozwald walked slowly back to town following Chase thinking about how much easier all of these quests had been having a friend along the way. Ozwald rested his arm on the handle of his golden sword letting the other one fall at his side. Finding his gaze slowly drift towards the sky as it alway seemed to do when he was thinking. "I do need to buy some things before we go out to our next quest though." Ozwald said opening his inventory looking over his current equipment. "I need to find a shield and I was thinking about trying out a different weapon." Ozwald's gaze left the sky above and instead stared at the town slowly coming into view in front of them. "Thankyou for all of the help. I wouldn't be as far as I am right now without your help."

At the humble remark, he sighed and shook his head. "Nah. You killed the swordfish on your own, and the Cave Guardian would have been no different. You would have stared it down until it died off of your thorns, however long it'd take. I'm just trying to help you out cause I've been there too, and I couldn't do it myself. It's not the same for you.". He wasn't saying this to compliment him or put him above himself. If anything, his build was much better suited for the first tier's needs. He could cut down the damage he took on his own, he dealt damage back and had a weapon with good damage to boot.

Chase instead just had a good weapon and relied on dodging rather than blocking- much riskier, but it got him into the groove of combat a lot easier. "So we'll head back to Town of Beginnings and get you whatever items you need. Then we'll move on to do Warg, the quest giver is near the fields. Sound good?", he asked with both hands now stuffed in his pocket as they walked down the dirt trail, stretching his neck in the meantime.

"Yeah that sounds good," Ozwald replied glad to have someone to accompany him on all of his quests. Glad to not be alone in this dangerous world. Ozwald found himself daydreaming about the day that he found himself trapped inside of this world. He had just gotten off of work, barely able to help support himself and his aunt anymore, it was one of the few times he had been able to relax and play a game. At first Ozwald had wanted nothing more than to return and help his aunt, but over time he thought that maybe, without having to support him, she might have been able to live a better life. Snapping out of his thoughts Ozwald found himself coming up to the gates of the Town of Beginnings. "Finally we're here" Ozwald remarked glad to not have to walk through the rugged terrain anymore, and finally being back onto actual paved pathways.

With Oz having said little of what he needed to buy to Chase, the blueberry just watched him enter and let him take the lead. "You wanted to buy something? I'll follow behind, don't mind me.", he offered and gave him the lead, sticking to a slower pace. Definitely not what he was used to, but he knew the sense of excitement that probably took over Oz by now. He too, felt very happy the first time that he was strolling around the Town of Beginnings with Shay and Ariel, looking for his gear and finally getting it all from gran. Well, Simmone was her name, but Chase enjoyed giving nicknames to those he felt warmly about- if only the same thing could be said about her.

"... Since he's going to be a tank, probably heavy armor, shield and my trinkets. At least I can keep him all good on that front.", he noted in the back of his head. Initially, he became an artisan to support the frontlines. It ultimately did mean he'd support the frontlines even if he helped somebody new get started- they'd end up there sooner or later, in the end, so why bother getting stuck on the specifics?

"I need to pick up a good shield. I was thinking about becoming a merchant first though." Ozwald said thinking to himself about the pros and cons. "I could identify my own gear that way, I have a few pieces that I wouldn't mind using if I identified them. But I wouldn't want to force you onto such a boring quest. I could do it real fast and then meet you at your shop." Ozwald pondered thinking while walking further into the bustling streets of the first town. Thinking about how far he had already come excited Ozwald, it had only been a few days but he was already level 8 and that much closer to the frontlines, his goal as of the last few weeks. "I think that would probably be the most efficient thing to do." Ozwald looked over at Chase, waiting for his opinion on the matter.

With a nod, Chase let him move on towards the alley with all of the crafters for the earning a living quest. It appeared he wanted to pick up his profession first, which gave Chase some time to rest easy in his shop and send a few messages around, see what he could do and how to plan his day so he could both help Ozwald out and continue leveling all the same. "Hm. Sounds like a plan. I'll wait in my shop then, the crafting master you're looking for to become a merchant is... Right there.", he said and pointed towards a few shops- he wasn't sure himself, so maybe this was for the better.

Worst case scenario, Oz would just step in a shop, realize it's the wrong one and then move on to the next. If Chase's map game was good, his buildings and quest givers game was sloppy as hell. With them being NPCs though, there was nothing to worry about- embarassment and all were non-existent by now. "Tell me whenever you're done.", he huffed and waved him off for now, moving on to the district with his shop to wait inside behind the counter again.
