Kay 0 Posted January 3, 2014 #1 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 I started a thread awhile back on this but since it's not devoted to profession skills I thought I'd start a new one. When I brought this up we agreed a player has to be honest about what they have and if enough time has passed they have to change it. I'd like to pose an idea to tighten it though and I'd like others thoughts: It's simple an item be it armor, weapon, accessory, or potion (I don't think Crystals can break) has a time limit it lasts five threads. After that they have to get something new or have it repaired. If not they roll a die and if depending on the number landed it may or may not "break" what it looks like and does is up to the user. What do you guys think? Quote Report
Shark 0 Posted January 3, 2014 #2 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 Sounds like a good idea but I think weapon and armor durability should last a bit longer. Quote Report
Kay 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Author #3 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 For better gear I agree but for starter gear this should do nicely I think. Quote Report
Shark 0 Posted January 3, 2014 #4 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 Yea sounds good. But then that brings another issue into the equation. Weapon/ Armor leveling. Quote Report
Kay 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Author #5 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 I don't think that's necessary. We either repair or change it as they run out. I think we just run off "it drops you get it, you get it you get it." Levels complicate things. Quote Report
Shark 0 Posted January 3, 2014 #6 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 Ok so your basically saying that the item will always stay in the inventory but once the durability runs out then you can't use it until its repaired? Quote Report
Kay 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Author #7 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 When durability runs out they repair it immediately or with the next thread it may break and that's it it can't repaired at all. Quote Report
Shark 0 Posted January 3, 2014 #8 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 What if this is in the middle of a boss fight? I take it the player is out of luck. Quote Report
Kay 0 Posted January 3, 2014 Author #9 Report Share Posted January 3, 2014 Durability is between threads. But it breaks on a boss thread then yes they are. Quote Report
Crim 0 Posted January 4, 2014 #10 Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 I only remember a few occasions in the Anima/manga where they had to repair gear.. even on major MMO's, durability could last for a long time even on shanty gear XD. That being said, who will keep track of the durability or will it be up to the users to "self manage" there gear? I think the option of Durability should be left up to the person RPing if they feel like they are able to manage it themselves and track it. I also think that Durability of an item would be close to repaired. That's assuming they found the Boss Room and waited to gather a party to fight the boss. If they just run in after clearing a floor, then one would assume there durability is mildly used XD Just my two cents ^^ Quote Report
Kay 0 Posted January 4, 2014 Author #11 Report Share Posted January 4, 2014 I'm thinking it should be self managed. As for the 2nd issue. To be honest I'm not sure how to handle it. Quote Report
Shark 0 Posted January 5, 2014 #12 Report Share Posted January 5, 2014 In my solo RP I tried to self manage the durability in my shield. Take a look and tell me what you think? I think that the system I used was pretty good. Quote Report
Oske 0 Posted February 11, 2014 #13 Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 I agree with self managing. Users should be able to say if their stuff breaks or not, depending on how it's made. They probably shouldn't be allowed to say something like, "OH, MY SWORD IS MADE OF SUPER STEEL SO IT WON'T BREAK EVAR" but I'm fine with them having a very strong sword like Kirito (if a smith made it and rolled a 12 perhaps) Quote Report
Aoife 0 Posted February 23, 2014 #14 Report Share Posted February 23, 2014 Okay, so what about Mavis's Music box and her stuffies? Would those break? Quote Report
