She looked around the town of Urbus. She'd actually never left the first floor, well except for that wedding, she wondered how Koga was doing after being left standing there. That wasn't something entirely for her to wonder or investigate, though she did feel bad. She looked at the black panther beside her, and she smiled lightly, placing her hand on the panther's head. They were going to see what they could do on this floor today. Neph knew that there were some quests here, and well, since she's done all the ones on the first floor, except the dragon, she wasn't going to attempt that just yet, she needed something new to do to gain some levels. If she wanted to actually be able to help others, she needed to level herself, get stronger. Of course, this was only if she was able to actually break out of her shell and join others on their adventures. She has joined one or two, but nothing really came from that.

She shrugged that off though and just started to walk the town, looking for any NPC or marker stating that there was a quest that she could grab and do. That was when she noticed that there was a notice and a quest on it, but she had to find the merchant handing it out. She headed to the pub, leaving Bast outside, no need to scare the patrons after all with a giant black panther, and she looked for the NPC named Gatsly. She found it amusing on how if she were to change the order of two letters in his name, he'd have the same name as a ghost Pokémon. Funny how her mind thought of that at the moment. She walked over to the NPC though, and listened to him.

Some wolves were causing problems, that shouldn't be too hard. She looked at the antidote that he handed her when she accepted the quest, and she put that into her inventory. She'd hold onto it and use it if she needed to.

Nephthys gained <<Antidote>>!

As she and Bast walked out of Urbus and toward the forest, she started to think. Three wolves and an Alpha Wolf basically. This didn't seem like it was going to be such a horrible thing in her mind really. But, that could change very fast in this game, she's seen it happen. She was wondering though if and how she could break out of her shell to start partying with other people. Being alone with her thoughts could be depressing, and quite honestly, kind of annoying.

But it was the chance that her partner could turn around and try to stab her in the back, just like with Lethia, that held the fear of partying up to settle there forever. She'd partner up with her brother, but she had no idea where or what he was doing. Possibly for the best after all, she still hadn't told him about the fact that she had almost been murdered right when the announcement came up.

She rolled her head, hearing a few gentle pops, as she sighed. She really needed to find a partner that could keep her out of her thoughts and memories.

She could put up a notice stating that she was looking for someone to party up with. But that was a sure fire way to grab unwanted attention at the same time. Why was it just so hard to feel like she should be able to trust someone new? Oh right, because the one that she had trusted with her life, attempted to take her life. That would do it, wouldn't it? She rolled her eyes though, and continued to walk to the forest on the floor. She was curious to see just how big and bad these wolves could really be.

Plus, she hadn't fought anything in a bit, and well, this sounded like a good way to get back into the role of doing things. She blinked several times once the light dampened a bit, causing her to look around and notice that she had reached the forest. Okay, so that was a fast walk, but now came the part of finding these wolves.

As she walked the forest, she really wished that Gatsly had an image to show her of these wolves. Sure, she could look in the guidebook, but she didn't want to right now. It wasn't because she was stupid or headstrong, but more because she didn't trust what could show up in the middle of the forest. There were a lot of things that she didn't trust, and as she ventured alone doing these things, she started to figure out more and more things that she didn't trust.

The list was growing too large possibly, and that scared her a little. She wanted someone to talk to, but between her asocial nature and her trust issues, that just made things harder. She looked at Bast for a moment, only to notice that the black panther was ahead of her, and sniffing around. It made Neph curious on what it was that the panther might have caught the scent of. Honestly, it still amazed her sometimes on how well Bast could track in general.

There was one thing that she wanted to know though, why was it, in every game that she's ever played, that every forest turned into a random maze? She usually didn't mind being in a forest, but for some strange reason, when she is playing a game, she gets lost trying to find what it is that she was looking for. For instance, right now, she can't find any sign of the wolves that she was hunting. Even Bast was unable to find their scent, which was never a good thing really.

But, it wasn't like there was a true rush on this, right? She knew that there was thought, because lost caravans were never a good thing for a merchant. But, if this mutated wolf didn't want to show itself, then there really was nothing that she could do at the time. She just had to keep looking, and hope that she finds the wolf soon.

Perhaps, while she was looking for this wolf, and it's pack, she could try to find herself some more materials at the same time? It would make life a little easier so that she could go back to crafting after all. But, as she walked, she figured out that it was just too dark for her to find anything really, and that wasn't a pretty thought to think. This was the moment when she really figured that having someone around would be best, because that would be a conversation to make the time go by faster.

Noise to draw more attention to them to try and find these wolves. Of course, these were all just speculations in her mind, but she really did need to figure out if she could find at least that one person that she could be able to trust to level and travel with. Again, all things that were just passing in her asocial mind that would probably never come true.

Was that a howl? She looked at Bast who was looking in a single direction. Nephthys took that as a signal that the wolves might be nearby. But as she walked, something caught her eye, so she bent down and picked up the single piece of material. Perfect, this is a good thing. She put the material into her inventory and looked at Bast. The panther was curiously sniffing around a tree, and it made Neph chuckle a little.

As long as the panther was enjoying herself in the forest, there seemed to be nothing that could potentially go wrong right now. There was some rustling of the bushes, but no sign of the wolves that they were hunting yet. That could be considered good or bad, she didn't fully know, but she had a feeling that they were on the right track, hopefully. She had a stroke of good luck though by finding the piece of material that she had.

Nephthys found 1 T1 Material!

A material under her belt and some of this forest explored, she was starting to get really bored. Something that normally didn't happen, but since Bast wanted to explore the forest a little more on her own, it meant that Neph didn't have the company that she was used to. Funny how things worked out like that, it was taking a familiar being a little distant to tell you that you need a friend. Now that she thought about that, it was kind of depressing.

But, she wasn't in the mood to turn around right now, so she was just going to have to deal with this quest alone. After that, then, well, she'll just bite back her fears and she will attempt to find someone whom she can level with. For now, she resigned to just trying to find some materials while she walked. She took a quick glance around though, just to be sure that she wasn't about to be ambushed, but, alas, there was nothing for her to find.

She was starting to think that she was getting closer to where the wolves were. She was only guessing by how often Bast kept trying to steer Neph into a single direction. That was fine, she didn't mind listening to the panther. If the game was giving Bast the same sense of smell that panthers have in real life, then it was going to work out perfectly for her. So, yeah, she was going to follow the familiar that was trained to protect her, that sounded like the best option right now to try and find these wolves.

Was that another howl? It seemed to be much closer than the last time, so she had a really strong feeling that they were on the right track. Now, she just had to follow the howls and try to find the actual wolves and take care of the threat there. But, it was still the hunting down the wolves that was the hard part.

Bast was getting more and more nervous, was this a sign that they might have found the wolves? While Neph looked around to try and figure out where the wolves were, Bast was laying down and just staring at a trail that seemed to lead a little further into the forest. While Neph figured that she *should* go down that trail, she didn't want to just yet. She wanted to see if she could possibly find another piece of material first. She needed to go back to crafting after all, and she can't do that without materials.

But, after a few minutes of finding absolutely nothing, she sighed and looked at Bast. "Alright Bast, lead the way, and I'll follow you." The panther stood up and started to lead the way on the trail that they had found. As they walked, Neph started to feel like something was watching her, and that had to mean that the wolves were near.

The hunt for the wolves proved to be easier than she thought once she was on this trail. Before her, she saw the three wolves that were usually found with the Venom Snapper, but no sign of the Venom Snapper. She actually thought that this was a good thing though, because that meant that she wasn't going to have to deal with four monsters all at once. She knew that she had some AoE skills, but she didn't want to put all of her trust into them.

But right now, while she had the sneak advantage, she went for the first hit. Charging her sword art, the blade on her spear started to turn sky blue, a sign that the art was ready. So, she let it go, and watched as two of the wolves instantly died, while the other managed to dodge her attack completely. She wondered if that one had managed to hear her coming? She didn't get a full moment to stop and think on that though, because she moved quickly, attempting to dodge the wolf's attack.

But, she still managed to get hit, losing a chunk of her health, but she watched as the wolf lost a chunk of his health as well. Serves the wolf right.

Well, she at least took down two of the wolves, that was a good thing. This meant that she only needed to dodge one wolf attack then. Which, judging by how she couldn't dodge that first attack, these things were faster than normal wolves. Were all of them in this pack slightly mutated? Or was she just slower than normal today? She really didn't want the answer to that question, so instead, she just focused on the wolf.

Charging another sword art, she let it go the moment that her spear's blade was sky blue once more. Only this time, instead of the wolf being able to dodge it, she watched as only two health points were left on the wolf's bar. That kind of sucked, she would have rather just killed the wolf and have been done with this interaction. She did see the wolf's attack ahead of time this time though, and she was able to easily dodge it. So the first time was just a fluke it seemed like.

It made her happy to know that she wasn't as slow as she thought when the wolf hit her the first time. But of course, there was nothing that she could do to change what had happened. But, what she could do was make sure that the wolf didn't get to live long enough to try and hit her another time. So, she attacked first again, and as soon as she let go of her sword art, she watched the wolf die.

There, all three of the basic wolves were dead. That should make things a little easier for hunting down the mutated wolf. She stopped and looked around though, swearing that she heard something near her. As she looked around, she heard a twig snap behind her, and spun around, only to see that it was Bast. Nephthys sighed lightly and got ready to relax, when she heard a growl from behind her.

That growl belonged to the Venom Snapper, the mutated wolf, and she was staring at it as she slowly spun around. But, Nephthys didn't have a chance to attack it first, because the mutated wolf was using an attack against her. She was able to dodge it as she watched the attack hit a tree that was far away from her instead. But it wasn't just one tree that had been hit, but a couple of them. So, it had AoE attacks, that probably wasn't a good thing for her.

But, she wasn't going to just sit back and take the chance of being killed by the wolf. So, she instead charged a sword art before charging the mutated wolf and using that sword art. While it didn't kill the mutated wolf right away, it did take a good chunk of it's health away instead. She watched as the wolf's health dropped to the yellow, and she had a feeling that this fight was going to be over a lot faster than it had taken to find it.

So, this was the big bad, mutated wolf? It's AoE missed her. Of course, Nephthys probably shouldn't be trying to tempt the fates and make her life hurt, but she was just too confident in her mind right now. Possibly all because this boss wolf missed her. Either way, she kept her gaze on the mutated wolf, because she wasn't really in the mood to get poisoned, so if she dodged its attacks enough and hit it herself, she should be fine.

As if the wolf was reading her mind, it went to attack her again, but the wolf's AoE attack went wide once more, making it easy for her to get out of the way, allowing the trees to take the damage instead. Once the wolf wasn't moving, and looking quite annoyed she might add, Nephthys attacked it once more, her spear's blade glowing sky blue with her sword art. Once her skill hit, she watched a slightly larger chunk of health leave the wolf's health bar, and she knew that this fight was almost done. Perhaps just one more hit?

So far, she has done all the hitting, and she was kind of glad about that. So her confidence was starting to grow more and more, making her feel possibly too confident. She easily saw the wolf's attack coming, the same AoE as before. It almost felt like this was the only skill that the wolf knew, was it expecting a larger party to come and fight it or something? She didn't know really, but having it used against her twice before already, made it easy to dodge it a third time.

What she didn't expect though, was for the wolf to dodge the attack that she sent back at it. That hit would have killed the wolf, and instead, it dodged it almost as if it knew that it was coming right at that moment. This made Neph a little mad, but she pushed that aside and instead just focused on the wolf. It was still closer to death than herself after all.

So, the wolf has missed every attack it's used against her, and she's missed only once. So far, she wants to say that the odds were in her favor, and that was a good thing. She wasn't feeling as confident as before, but she still had a strong feeling that she was going to win this fight. So she had no fear there. She was just starting to think that this might take a little longer than she had originally expected.

While she was thinking, she completely missed the fact that the wolf was rushing for her, until she felt its talons claw into her right leg. "Shit!" She stumbled back and away from the wolf before she glared at it. Bad thing for her, it hit her. Good thing for her, she watched as the mutated wolf lost some of it's health from attacking Nephthys. This made her quickly decide what to do, as she just stabbed the wolf with the blade of her spear. She watched as the wolf died, and the quest item was placed into her inventory.

The panther seemed to purr before she laid down beside Neph, getting comfortable against the woman's outstretched legs. She replayed the fights in her mind as she sat there, trying to figure out where she had gone wrong, and how she could have done better.

Basically, she was trying to find a way to make herself better by reviewing what it was that she has done. Of course, that wasn't going to be the same as if someone were to actually tell her, but, she didn't have that training partner to tell her. Perhaps soon, she figured that after this quest, she really should go about trying to find someone to level with. She slowly rose back to her feet after a bit. She had wanted to make sure that she had enough energy in case she was attacked by something on the way back to town. Furthermore, she knew what the hardest part about this adventure back was going to be, getting out of this darned forest without going insane. Or at least, any more insane than she might already be. But that was a topic for another day in her mind. For now, she just needed to focus on leaving the forest, and making her way back to town.

As she and Bast walked, it actually seemed to be easier to get out of the forest, than it had to get into the forest. She always found that interesting. It was almost as if the game knew what her intentions were, or that the quest was basically finished. The game was molding around her, or at least, that was what she wanted to think as she walked back to the town.

Before long, she saw the town of Urbus, and she was crossing into the safe zone. Once that happened, she slowed her pace so that she didn't feel like she was rushing back to Gatsly. The wolves were dealt with, so it wasn't like he was going to lose more caravans right now. Once the wolves respawned, then possibly, but she wasn't going to be able to help with it. She knew that. Not all quests were repeatable after all.

As she walked up to the doors of the pub, she had Bast sit outside, just like when she went to pick up the quest. She didn't want the panther to scare the daylights out of anyone, or get tempted to defend Neph. Then things could go bad. Nephthys walked over to Gatsly and showed him the Venom Vial from the Venom Snapper. The NPC seemed very grateful and happy to pay her what he could, and since it was preprogrammed, she couldn't decline the rewards.

Instead, she accepted them, and walked back outside, and with Bast by her side, went back to her shop on the first floor.
