[PP-24] ... A Far Cry w/ Baldur

The familiar silhouette of Cordelia came into view; her figure sat silently on a tatami mat placed on the floor next to an open window.

Her once platinum hair had been dyed back to a soft blonde, reminiscent to the shade she had entered the game with all those years ago. It was a spur-of-the-moment decision, really, perhaps caused by her life turning upside down once again, but not even Cordelia herself had a sure answer as to why. That seemed to be a recurring dilemma the girl was having lately; her always being at a loss for simple answers to seemingly simple questions. Part of her seemed to have just accepted the fact that she was never going to know why, but another part of her refused to accept defeat so easily, constantly pushing her to do what seemed impossible. Her mind certainly was a funny one, wasn't it?

Unfortunately, her mind seemed to be the only company she had nowadays. Despite now residing with Baldur and his kohai in his more than large estate, she found herself to be quite lonely on most days. They were often out and about, exploring the now much different world of Aincrad, going against foes that had yet to have been ever seen, and really, just living their life in general. Cordelia had tried to take a page out of their books... multiple times in fact, but she could never find herself going too far from the estate. She was scared, that's for sure, though she couldn't quite place her finger on exactly what. Was it change? Was it fear that she would be thrown into a world completely unknown to her again? Or was it fear of familiarity? Somehow, just somehow, the thought of meeting her friends terrified her more than the idea of going against a boss she knew nothing about.

It was pitiful.

Cordelia couldn't help but let out a long, bittersweet sigh, burying her face into her hands exhaustedly... There she went again; she had lost herself to her thoughts for the upteenth time. Perhaps it was time she should start concerning herself with a hobby to lure her mind elsewhere. Launching herself into a camp of mobs was out of the question, and she wasn't sure how much more ramen she could make before she went crazy, but she was certainly nearing that point.

Another sigh escaped her. Maybe she was just... hopeless. Completely and utterly hopeless.

"You sure are sighing a lot, Cordelia-chan." Baldur rounded the corner of his home, sprawling across a lagoon with several bridges linking the smaller islands which held gardens and rooms for not just his guild mates, but his friends and those he had taken in to his home. He was ready to expand it for more, but was surprised when after the boss fight, Cordelia had come calling. Without hesitation, the gaijin samurai had welcomed her. It filled his heart with joy that she had come to him. Ever since he had stumbled upon the girl, he had felt a bond with her. Not the normal bond he had experienced with others, but something akin to a partnership between the two of them. Inspite of having many other students, Cordelia truly felt like something akin to a daughter. Not as if she was his daughter that he had raised from childhood, but someone who had grown under him as a Sensei, and may some day carry on a piece of his will.

Still, the philosophy was something he needed to pass on as much as his sword play.

"Would you like to walk the gardens with me? I would enjoy your company." He gave her his patented warm and charming smile. The one that seemed to make people trust him. It wasn't really the smile, but the sincerity behind it. When Baldur's eyes held their steely blue, people knew he meant business and a fight was immanent, but when his eyes held that ocean blue, it meant that he was happy, and you had become the most interesting person in the whole world.

"How are you handling the change? I know everything has been so sudden, perhaps even dizzying, but have you been comfortable here?"
