[F22-SP] Hunting for Rare Materials

Recommended Posts

Rebekah made her way on to the twenty second floor of Aincrad via the teleportation gate. As she took a step in the small settlement of Coral, she knew today would be an awesome day. She had came this way to help look for rare materials such as shards or scales. It was also a perfect excuse for her to visit the Lake of Reflection for the first time. She had not previously visited this floor before, but she has heard good things about the natural wonder and beauty of the lake and the surrounding forest that straddled the coastline for areas.

As she made her way around the floor of Coral, she stocked up on some last minute supplies necessary to make the trip work. She had also bought some desserts freshly made from her shop to enjoy. She was going to have to burn off the calories today by either searching or fighting monsters to obtain the necessary materials. It was a chance for Rebekah to show up what she had learned with the new forager profession that she just learned.

As Rebekah left the small village, she was on the lookout for anything she could attack or collect.

As Rebekah made her way into the Forest of Memories, she knew that she wanted to head towards the lake, and visit the Lake of Reflection. However, in order to get there, Rebekah would need to walk through the forest situated between the town and the lake.

Rebekah could sense trouble was brewing, as she noticed several giant bears had been watching her this entire time, looking at every step of hers. Rebekah wanted to control the situation before it got out of control, especially before any other bears would come over and join this battle. That would be completely dangerous. Without waiting for them to react, Rebekah took out her trusty rapier, and made her way towards the bears. She was hoping she could surprised them with an attack before they cornered her in a drastically more dangerous situation. As her saber turned into the familiar shade of bright blue, Rebekah activated the sword art that she always used to start a battle against multiple monsters.

She was a lot more confident from her battles from last week, and hoped this time, it would show. She moved swiftly but as quiet as one could be in this situation.

Rebekah launched the first attack against the bear but it dodged her attack. However, she was determined to hit the second bear, and managed to get it as it was also trying to get just out of range of her rapier. It was not fast enough, and Rebekah managed to stun the second bear.

She wanted to curse.

It was not the first time she had missed a perfect opportunity for a stun on a monster. Rebekah knew that she had missed a golden opportunity in this battle. Now, she will have to deal with a discontent bear that is ready to attack her with its giant furry paws and mouth. Rebekah wanted no part of the bear that was trying to swipe at her.

She knew there was a chance she could potentially evade this attack completely, but that will need to depend on her movement of her feet. She had been training hard since her return to battle, and she knew that the only way to succeed is to apply the concepts of dodging or evading an attack. All she needed to do now was to show the bear what she had learned.

As the bear lifted its paw, Rebekah saw the movement happening and instinctively moved her feet and body in one perfect motion. She managed to jump right out of range of the paw, and avoiding the damage from the sharp claws. "That was a close one." She said.

It was now time for Rebekah to counter. She knew she would be able to hopefully defeat the first bear to make the situation a lot more manageable. After all, it was playing with fire if she had to defend attacks from multiple bears attacking her at the same time. Therefore, the only way to counter this is to ensure as many monsters were defeated as quickly as possible.

She made her move, hoping that everything is a lot smoother since she had cleaned up her footwork since her original experience last month. Rebekah is hoping the bears are able to drop rare shards or scales that she can then used to upgrade her equipment. This was the reason why she was headed towards the lake. It would provide a much better foraging area, or at least it was what she was told.

Rebekah tries to attack the bears but whiffs on the execution of the attack. "This is a disaster." She spoke. She was not prepared to attack as she was unable to position her rapier in the right position to begin executing the correct sword art. By the time she got the saber into position, the bears had easily saw her attack coming and easily dodge out of the way.

As Rebekah got ready for the worse scenario which she wanted to avoid. She would have to see if she can skillfully dodge both of the bear's attack at the same time. She had one chance to dodge both attacks skillfully. She looked at both bears trying to judge which one she should focus on first. At the end of the day, she knew she needed to dodge the first attack to have any hope of dodging both successfully. As she glazed into the bear's eyes, she was trying to get a read on this battle, or gain any type of insight.

Rebekah continued to hold this stance until a bear finally made a move. She began moving her body to ensure she was either completely able to dodge or at least block the attack with her shield. Rebekah kept her focus on the first bear to move. She was able to anticipate its attack and manage to dodge it easily. However, she had forgotten to focus and pay attention to the second bear which was attacking her immediately after the first attack. It had landed a clean strike on the girl.

"Owwwww." She cried. That had hurt a tiny bit. She knew the pain tolerances had been set to low in this game, but being hit in battle does still hurt, as she was unable to get her shield, Unbroken in the way, and the girl was not wearing any armour.

Now it was time for Rebekah to extract her revenge on the bear. She had taken a laid back approach to the battle so far. But it was time to get serious. Everything was fine until she began losing health from the bears. But first, Rebekah needed to erase the memories of her last attempt at an area of effect attack. That had been a disaster. She knew what she had done wrong last time, so this time she concentrated on not making the exact same mistake.

As Rebekah visualized her steps again in her mind, she knew the exact steps she would take to activate the sword art cleanly this time. Opening her eyes, she was determined to ensure the attack would hit both bears. Now, it was time to make it happen. She ran towards the bears, and with her rapier, preformed the simple area of effect attack once again. It was a clean hit to both targets. The first bear had lost over half of its health points, while the second bear exploded into the familiar blue pixels when a monster would die.

It was time for Rebekah to be on the defensive. She knows that all she needs to do is to dodge the bear's attack with its giant and sharp claws. It would then be on her to end the battle with a clean attack from her rapier. That would finish the battle. She would like to get this over with as soon as possible before additional bears come for reinforcements and corner her.

She had heard the bear roar in the forest and it would not be long until multiple bears show up to help their fallen friend. This was it, Rebekah only had one bear to contend with, so she should be able to pour all of her attention to trying to dodge the bear's attack. As she thought about how strong the bear was, she knew the only way to get out of here safety was to kill the bear. There was no point in trying to run away now.

As she waited the bear to make its move, Rebekah could already hear the rustling of the leafs in the forest. It would not be long until she expected more bears to join it. She would have to kill this bear as soon as possible, so she can either regroup. As Rebekah was thinking, she did not notice the bear charging up to her and swiping her with its paw again.

It had hurt very badly, as the claw hit her on the legs. She was not wearing any armour so Rebekah had taken a lot of damage. She knew never to make the same mistake again.

Her body continued to ache in pain from the two bear attacks that have landed against her nimble frame. Rebekah was seriously considering putting on some additional armour to be safe. She could see the shape of round eyes watching her from the shadows of the forest. Rebekah was almost certain there was at least another bear in the vicinity, ready to pounce and attack her when the moment arises. She knew that her chances of survival would depend on this single move.

It was a lot of pressure to be facing especially when she is already feeling the effects of the two strikes that had landed. Luckily for Rebekah, she had battle healing and survival, so she would be able to naturally regenerate some of her health at a slow rate. But she was losing health faster than she was regenerating. This was the issue.

Rebekah decided upon a different tactic because she was only aiming at a single bear, she no longer had to contend with multiple targets at the same time. This made her a lot more confident at the move she was about to unleash next. A single target strike that she likes to name linear. It was the first skill that any rapier users would learn in this game, and also the most popular.

She had practiced this attack countless times on floor one when she just started out. It was one that she was always familiar with using. Rebekah lunged towards the weakened bear, and it had exploded into the all too common blue pixels that she enjoyed. It was a sign of a good battle.

Rebekah wanted to take this opportunity to take a break and to read the notifications that she had received after defeating the first two monsters for today. However, that will have to wait. In front of Rebekah were several bears that had just arrived as reinforcements.

"It looks like I am not alone today." Rebekah said.

She had two options, either wait for the bears to group up and attack her, or she should take the initiative and attack them before they get prepared. This was not a difficult decision for her to make. The girl knew that in order to survive, she would have to get out of this dangerous situation alive. As she scanned the horizon, exactly four bears showed up to greet her. It was time to get the battle started.

Rebekah began to quickly walk towards the bears, ensuring that she was not drawing any attention. When she got close enough, she broke out into a run, and began attacking the bears with the best sword skill she had for this position. She hope she managed to attack all four bears in the same strike.

However, as Rebekah attacked too early, the bears were not grouped together close enough. As a result, only the two closest bears were in range of her attack, while the other two bears were easily able to dodge her attack as they were just out of range.

This was Rebekah's worst nightmare. She had only landed half of her attacks against bears without good reflexes to dodge her extremely accurate strikes.

It was time for her to be on the defensive. The two remaining bears had made their attack towards Rebekah. Rebekah needed to dodge or block their attacks. It was going to be tough to see if she could handle it. The giant bears were just a little too much for her to run away from. Therefore, she will take the only method that she knows, which is to stand and fight.

As the bears charged right at the girl, Rebekah had no choice but to stand her ground. These bears would want revenge for their fallen friends, so there was nothing she could do other than to dodge and get into a good position to attack all of them when it was her turn to fight. As she looked around, she noticed that she could try jumping into the air so she can launch herself at the bears. She was going to try that. It was now or never.

The jump work as she was now in the air and successfully dodged both attacks in the nick of time.

As Rebekah was now in the air, she needed to flip and turn around so she can launch herself at all four bears using a strong attack. Luckily, she had always been good at snowboarding and skiing so she was able to preform tricks on a halfpipe. This was very important skill as it allowed her to twist naturally in the air and change the way she would land back on the ground.

She tucked her arms in and began to twist, so she could get the perfect angle to launch herself into the four bears waiting for her below. As she moved, she knew that she needed to tag all the bears with this attack for it to be perfected. There were four moving targets below. She needed her aim to be accurate. Her snowboarding skills came in handy as she turned just enough and as she was falling, aim the sword with a sword art at the bears.

Only the first bear which was stunned saw her the entire time, so it was able to manage to run just out of range. The other three bears did not suffer a good fate, as Rebekah launched herself into them with the sword art.

As Rebekah landed hard into the ground around 3 bears, she knew this would be a tough task to be able to dodge all three attacks. But not doing anything was not an option. "I guess you three would want a piece of me." Rebekah said.

Rebekah jumped quickly onto her feet, since laying down was not an option. This would allow her to more easily dodge the remaining bear. She wondered how strong her shield was. There was only one way to find out, and this was to try to fight. She knew this would not take long, but hoped she was able to finish the battle before anything else would happen. As Rebekah looked around, she knew nobody was coming to help her. She was all alone, and she need to finish this quickly.

She made a defensive stance and watched as the bear charged right at her again, only this time, she was not so lucky. She was too focus on dodging the second bear which meant she was not watching the first or the third bear attacking her in this group. She had been hit twice. This had hurt quite a bit, and Rebekah had now lost about a third of her health. She will now need to be careful and needed to finish this without taking more damage.

This was it. Rebekah could use a break from fighting after this battle was over. Facing multiple monsters at the same time is very tiring, and she knew she will need it as she almost lost over half of her energy. With only three more monsters to fight, this makes it easier than last attempt. However, she cannot let her guard down. She was stronger than the other three bears, and she will need to prove it to them.

It had been a long time since she had felt comfortable in battle. She was still slowly getting back into a rhythm as she was looking to hunt for a rare shard. If she could find it through other means, that would work too, but her goal today is to obtain one. She knew that if she could defeat enough monsters, she should come close. Someone told her that she had a one in thirty chance if she is lucky. She had only killed three today, and she was hoping for more.

Rebekah strike had connected with the first and the third bear, the ones who had sturck her last turn. She missed her attack on the same bear that dodge her original attack. This was fine. It was not the result she was looking for, but it also was not the worst result.

The remaining bear watch as all of its friends had died. That had been 5 of its friends slain by the tiny girl with pink hair. It needed to do something fast. There was no time to think, but only to rely on instincts. It tried to scare the girl, "ROAR!".

It was a loud sound, and hope to catch the girl being distracted. The bear then launched itself at the girl, hoping to injure her even further and to deter her from making these attacks on their friends. The bear raised its paw and try to swipe at the girl making sure to get her with its sharp claws.

Rebekah was waiting for the attack to strike, and as she heard the roar, she was confused. She was not expecting it to make such a loud noise but it must be a plan to draw her attention. Then at the last minute, she saw the attack from the bear. Rebekah was unable to dodge in time. The attach had directly hit her and it had hurt. She knew she needed to do better in the future as her focus was not strong enough in battle.

She should have saw that coming.

Rebekah had another chance to defeat this bear. She saw her health points and energy get dangerously close to fifty percent. That was the place at which Rebekah knew it would become very dangerous for her to continue for too much longer. She knew that both skills will take her some time to passively regenerate but that is only if she can finish her combat as early as possible. She needed someway to distract the bear's attention.

Perhaps, Rebekah should try a faint. After all, this was the bear that had been hardest to hit. It was able to dodge several of her attacks, and she knew that it should not be this strong. She wondered if the bears got smarter over time, but decided, she was more intelligent. It would be a disappointment if the girl had died right here, after this battle.

She decided which skill she would use, and Rebekah decided to make her way to defeat this final bear, so she could start her recovery process. Rebekah did go for a faint and faked and attack. The bear fell for the attack and Rebekah was able to activate the attack at the place where she predicted or forced the bear to duck to with a quick stab. She had finally defeated six bears in a row, and it was time for her to take a break by resting.

It was finally time, her battle with the bears is over. It was now time to head down towards the Beach and relax, while searching for collectables. It had taken her another 15 minute walk from where she had fought the bears. It was a beautiful place to be. Rebekah was very tempted to switch into her bathing suit and just sun tan. However, she was here for a reason, and began searching for materials on the beach.

Rebekah was looking for some seashells that she could collect. This was a fresh water lake, so they would not be as pretty as those she would have found on the 24th floor ocean beach. But this was what she was going to do. It was hard, as the seashells blended in with the colour of the sand below her. She was now walking bare foot on the beach. The sun was beating down on the sand so it felt warm to walk. It was not that hot, but she may want to go swimming later. It was a beautiful day to be out.

Rebekah had found some seashells. However, she was not stopping here. She was determined to find more as she knew the beach would be full of them. The difficult part would be trying to navigate around the crowds of players and NPCs having a relaxing time on the beach. They were sitting everywhere, building sand castles, or going swimming. She almost tripped over several players as she was not watching where she was going.

Rebekah continued to look around, it was going to take some work to find more but she knew she could do it. She was a natural at searching and gathering materials since she has done it so many times already. As she walked up the tiny dune made of sand, she could see vast stretches of land out there. Rebekah continued to walk, hoping maybe there was something in the lower parts of the beach. Hopefully she was correct.

As Rebekah continued to walk, she noticed that her health and energy had fully recovered. However, there were no monsters nearby for her to attack, so she continued to search on the beach. This was the best thing she could do at the moment, which was to see if she could collect all the materials before the crowd of people moved closer to her over here. This was prime real estate on the beach for sun tanning.

As she continued to walk along the water's edge, she could feel the cool lake waves passing over her feet. It was such a nice feeling, especially since it was a departure from the sand on her bare feet. As she stepped forward, she noticed another shell that she could collect. She wondered if this was possible, having more materials on the beach. There was only one way to find out, she would have to walk towards it and see if she could pick it up.

She was going to keep searching on the beach. Rebekah had been walking all day, and she was slowly starting to feel tired. Perhaps it was time to leave the beach and head back into the forest. At least there was some shade there, and it had made all the difference in the world. Rebekah was no longer in direct sunlight. She was still near the beach but not just far away enough that the trees were blocking all the sunlight.

Rebekah continued to search for materials, but this time at the edge of the treeline overlooking the lake and the beach. She had turned to looking for flowers, herbs or fruits that may be useful to a chef. As she continued to walk, she noticed an Apple tree. Perhaps she could collect an apple from the tree. If she could find an apple already on the ground that is ripe. There was nothing to be found.

Rebekah walked back out to the beach. She had a hunch that there may be a treasure chest located around here. Rebekah knew that she needed to be careful, there were a lot of players around. She decided to pretend to build a sand castle, but in reality she was going to dig in the sand for a treasure chest.

She wondered if anyone else would notice, but nobody ever did. Of course, she could not fake a sand castle, so she decided to start building parts of it, such as a few walls. This took her back to her childhood sitting on the beach playing with her family. She wondered if she will ever be able to see them again in the future. They had been stuck in this game for seven years, and will likely be stuck for a very long time before they reach level 100. It was not looking hopeful. The only thing she could count on was time passed faster in Aincrad than in the real world but she did not know. Rebekah continued to dig.
