The spear was set to connect with the little dragon, the tip almost piercing the hide and leaving its mark upon the creature. Her eyes almost didn’t catch the movement as it dipped, sliding a hair’s breath away from the blade – causing Nari’s strike to miss, but also saving her from a retaliatory strike in return. Her scowl returning as she slid past and around to face the creature again, she set herself into her ready pose, her arm quivering slightly as it pulled the spear up and into place. Her eyes glared over the edge of the shield as she waited for the little dragon to complete its wide arc to bring it back around. “Morríghan, hear my call. Head my voice, and guide my strike as I thrust my spear. Connect it with that which stands before me, and let me end its existence in a fell strike. Bring forth your fate, and welcome it with open arms.” As the creature came closer, Nari readied herself, allowing her muscles to relax. At the last second, she thrust the spear forward, the violet colouring on the air trailing behind the blade. The creature seemed to freeze in place as the ice slowly covered it, and Nari watched as its health bar dropped further, her own only raising back towards its original filled setting. She knew that her luck likely wouldn’t hold forever, however, and forced herself into motion. Letting her shield fall slightly to the side, she pulled back her spear, as if preparing to toss it. She held her pose for a moment, waiting until the little dragon had begun to thaw, before letting her body follow through with the motion. Her left foot slid forwards, her hips twisting to match the movement, bringing her torso around as her shoulder’s followed. The tip of the spear lashed outwards, a trailing arc of soft violet against the air as the sword art activated in her grasp. Pulling up her menu and placing away the armour and weapon, she turned her attention back to the garden itself. She could see before her varying bushes, trees, flowers – everything that could provide beauty. “Nemo truly does provide a haven of beauty, doesn’t he Yuki?” The fox had uncurled itself from her shoulders, yawning before dropping to the ground now that the fighting was done. Almost unconsciously, she began to let her hands wander, pulling aside the grasses closest to herself in a natural searching manner. Her mind was considering a number of things, from NIGHT, to her home on floor twenty seven, to the future. For the first time, in a long time. As she worked, she continued talking, enjoying the ability to speak aloud her thoughts to the little fox. Beside her, Yuki had stretched out in the grass, enjoying the ability to uncurl for the moment. “It’s just…I know things could get bad, so I restrain – I stay away from the hope of goodness. But…maybe that’s why things go bad? I know Brigette is watching over, and the Morríghan, and they’ll do what need be done – I cannot argue that. But…sometimes I wonder if it always has to be so hard.” Her fingers continued pulling as she fell silent for a moment, no response coming from the fox. “I don’t know, what do you think?” The fox stared at her, no sound coming from it. But she could she its nose twitch, the micromovements in its face that bespoke to the fact that it was listening. Perhaps we should remain where we are, and not move back to your winter wonderland then?” The response was almost immediate – a collection of angry chirps from Yuki as the fox raised its head from the paws it once rested upon. Nari couldn’t help but smile at the response, her teasing having worked perfectly. “Oh, so you do have an opinion then? Fine, I’ll take it under consideration, but maybe you should voice it more often.” Another collection of chirps, followed by a heavy sigh as the fox seemed to slam its head back down onto its paws. Nari let out a giggle at the sight, the whole thing reminding her that the fox was somehow more than just a small collection of code designed to respond to her every whim. ‘Just like us, she has…not quite a soul, but certainly a personality, a lifeness to her. This was different, a despair that would leave her sad at what she had lost, but a reminder that she had enjoyed it all while she could. “Maybe that’s what Brigette creates…a desire to enjoy, and to miss that enjoyment – but to realise that it isn’t the loss that matters, but the memories it creates…” Her hands paused as she glanced over at the fox, wondering if she had any input. Instead, Nari was simply viewed through beady little eyes, which seemed to be content with listening. “You’re right, it’s likely beyond my comprehension, of course…but I guess it makes it all easier, in a way? But as she saw the shifting of light in the sky, she knew that she would eventually have to make her way home – especially seeing as there was much to do now in order to get prepared for everything to come. “Come on Yuki, let’s get going shall we?” The fox gave a large stretch for its small frame, yawning as it rose to its feet before following along behind Nari. Making her way across to the exit, she gave a quick wave towards Nemo, before stopping to speak to the man briefly. “Thank you for inviting us again, I always love coming to visit. And…I hope that someone comes to see you again, soon.” She passed some minor pleasantries with the NPC before eventually stepping into the teleporter that would take her home, disappearing in a blink of light and leaving the garden behind for the next comer.
