Clyde pulled a worn, dusty tome from one of the shelves on the wall behind the counter, and handed the book to Calyx. As he did, the book remained behind on the shelf as well as in Clyde's hand, as though one of them was a just ghost copy of the other. It made sense, of course, given that they were in an MMO. Calyx can't be the only person to take this quest and become an alchemist, so Clyde couldn't hand him the only copy of the book he'd need. Calyx smiled to himself at the discrepancy as he took the ghost book. He took pride in understanding video games well enough to be able to see seams like that.

Calyx began absently flipping through the pages of the book, skimming over item names and ingredient lists. There were potions for healing, curing poison and paralysis, and even crystals for taking screenshots! This was going to be a handy profession. And he hadn't even almost died this time! Calyx stared into the book for some indeterminable amount of time until Clyde finally cleared his throat and spoke up. "Are we concluded, then?", he asked, mildly impatient. Calyx was still in the shop and that meant that Clyde couldn't really leave him here without fear of being looted. "Oh, yeah, sorry, I'll be on my way. Thanks for the help!, Calyx managed, still half buried in his new book as he headed out the door. "Hm.", Clyde grunted as he followed Calyx out. He gave the impression of being a man with a lot to do, despite probably being on his way back to the gardens, forever waiting there to help some other would-be apothecary in their quest for glory.
