Lessa 1 Posted Wednesday at 02:59 AM Author #21 Share Posted Wednesday at 02:59 AM Helpless, Lessa watched the vines snag Jomei, then drag him up beside her. His body bumped against hers like some horrifying human windchime, but instead of the sweet twinkle of wind through steel, the only sound she made was a guttural "oof." He hung quite a bit lower than she did, and realizing where her face ended up, she did her best to twist away from him. All her attempt earned her was a slow, lazy spin on the end of her green rope. "Listen," she began as she came around to face him, moving at a glacial pace, "I don't mean to be offensive or anything. But we look really, really stupid right now." And they did. Jomei was draped in yards of green fabric that hung around him like some man-sized chrysalis. Likewise, Lessa's arms dangled like a pair of limp noodles - it was nothing short of a miracle that she managed to maintain her hold on her sword. Her sword! It shouldn't take too much effort to swing herself up, slashing at the rope with the blade, and freeing her ankles from the vine's hold. Right? If she could fight bosses, scale floating towers, and demonstrate fantastical feats physical strength, she could absolutely do a single situp. Giving herself only a second to muster her courage and strength, she then did her best to hinge at the waist, her blade arching through the air... and coming nowhere close to the vine. "Yeah no," Lessa admitted on a hard exhale. "I guess the game system can't work miracles." She swayed there for a second longer, doing her best impression of a deer on a buck pole. Finally, she concluded with, "Remind me to look into Crossfit when we get out of here." Craning her neck to avoid staring at Jomei's groin, a new, slightly better idea came to her. "You're lower than I am," Captain Obvious stated. "Do you mind if I-? Er, sorry. Hold on, I'll just-" Wrapping one arm around Jomei's leg, Lessa (carefully) tugged herself upright just enough to get her sword pressed to his vine. "I'm going to cut you down first. It's probably going to be a rough landing." With a hollered "sorry!", she slashed at his binding, and felt him slide out of her grasp.
Jomei 0 Posted 2 hours ago #22 Share Posted 2 hours ago Despite their predicament, Jomei could not help but laugh. Only their luck would leave them suspended by their ankles, slowly rocking back and forth like a pair of human pinatas. At least there was no one with a bat trying to knock their treasures loose. Though, if someone else were here, they could probably cut the two loose with no issue. Slim chances of that. "Doubt your armor is doing much to make it any easier." Jomei commented as Lessa tried to crunch at her midsection and cut herself loose. Definitely better than he was doing, at least, his rapier fell out of his hands and was now sitting in the dirt a couple of feet from them. Much too far away for him to reach. Though, he would be hitting the ground again much sooner than he anticipated. Using the ginger's leg to assist her, Lessa was able to position herself in such a way that she was able to cut Jomei's bindings. Suddenly, air was rushing past him as he quickly plummeted towards the grassy earth below. He fought to try and tear the now severed vines from his body so he could attempt to land softly, but that was not the case. Hitting the ground with a loud thud, Jomei lay there for a short moment. There was no pain, but that didn't stop the wind from getting knocked out of him. "Ow.." he instinctually mumbled, before sitting up and removing the rest of his bindings. "Alright, now let me just.. uh.." Lessa was still dangling above him, higher up than he was. How exactly was he going to get her cut down? "Give me your hand, let me see if I can climb up." Thankful for his height, Jomei was able to grab Lessa's wrist after jumping straight up. "I'm sorry, I'm just going to have to-" Cheeks flushed pink as he pulled hoisted himself up, literally climbing Lessa. Armor plates provided plenty of places for him to grab on to.. he just needed to make sure to not grab anywhere he should not be. "I'msorryI'msorry-" he repeated over and over as he carefully positioned himself; using one of her many belts as a foothold and holding onto her ankle to steady himself. Left hand awkwardly pulled his rapier from the scabbard on the same side and twisted it in his hand before slicing at the vines. Now they were both free.. but he wasn't exactly thinking about the landing. A mess of arms and legs flailed as they fell back to the ground, landing in a position atop one another that definitely didn't help with the awkwardness Jom felt using Lessa as a human ladder. "Sorry." Jomei apologized once more after separating himself from her (though he definitely lingered a little longer than he'd like to admit. The grove was quiet now, though the Guardian's presence was still present. He could feel its cold, peering eyes upon the two of them and the constant droning of distant insects made his skin crawl. "Looks like-" Jomei checked his inventory, "We only have one left to grab..." Finally looking Lessa in the eyes, he would shrug his shoulders. "Think we can do it?"
