Nisahime 0 Posted 4 hours ago #1 Share Posted 4 hours ago (edited) The dew strewn crevice a glittering stone, white wall and roaring with bleeding waves. A large hexagonal room that has since fallen silent. Where many like it would be lit and known, this had fallen black and forgotten. Just outside, the pyre lay dormant and cold. None knew of this place, and even fewer had the gull to seek it out. The wave of a wand to forget, and the cast of a conductor to make it remain. Trapped. Empty. But as time would tell, all things are subject to change. The wind itself seemed to carry this lesson so readily. As it roared so too did the thick and muggy trees of the jungle, carrying with them a murky and humid scent. The dense blanket of foliage sprung to life to join its companions. The stark contrast in white hair would slide too and from, a singular pair of goggles strapped to a cap upon her brow. Outstretched from a pair of clenched fists, the gleam of metal in a jagged and bent lightning bolt. "Knock knock, I know your still... Bingo." A flash of color on these small rods in her hand, and the temple would spring to life as if renewed by magic. Sam 0 Posted 3 hours ago #2 Share Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Sitting there against the old cracked up building, there was something about it but was unable to place her finger on it. Sounds of a water fall, visually it was beautiful and very loud. There was something relaxing about it though, helped keep concentration on her new found focus. A base guitar, it seemed beat up in more ways that one. Legs crossed half in front of her as she played a tune that she was very familiar with. One that would be on repeat, blasting while she gamed her eyes out back in the day. Sam wasn't very good at playing it but anyone who new the song would get the gist of it, besides, practice makes perfect right? A sudden burst of light as everything around seemed to become brighter, more vibrant colors than two seconds ago. Sam stops strumming for a moment to glance around. Not seeing a whole lot, the music continues. It sorta had a punk rock sound to it. Nothing really happened around these parts which is why she liked it around here so much. Whatever was going on on the others side of the building, it was none of her business until it was. Rose let her hair flutter in the light chilling breeze as she tried to focus. Freyd 0 Posted 3 hours ago #3 Share Posted 3 hours ago (edited) "Seriously?" Greyed brow rose with mixed confusion and consternation. No one came to this floor. Ever. Except if they were after that puma thing, but that was way on the other edge of the castle. Only esoteric foragers ever came this way, and they'd all been scared off by Cardinal's latest broadcast. The inns were full to overflowing, everyone seeking shelter or drowning their sorrows thanks to that glitched quest on twenty nine. As soon as the masses figured that one out there were hardly any players left sober across all of Aincrad, save a few stoically stubborn souls like himself. So a short sojourn to the depths of the heart of darkness sounded like the perfect break and refuge. Clad in armor too dark and practical, in any pragmatic sense, Kayaba's rules set countered such things easily enough through careful selection of skills and loadouts. The armor was practical for other reasons. But his choice of weapons was tailored to strike fear into a different brand of foe. The deep forest green of the mallard-headed grip looked antique and faded, not to mention kitsch as all hell. It might have belonged in the 1950s. Freyd loved the fishing rod nonetheless, especially the trials and nostalgic tenderness imbued in its rich heritage. Merely a tool, yet altogether so much more. Except someone had beaten him to his out-of-the-way hidey hole, where no one was supposed to be. "Guitar?! Who comes to the middle of nowhere in a jungle to play punk rock?" A quick ping and check confirmed that Shiina was causing mayhem on another floor, likely actually fixing someone else's goof ups in the process. Following the sound led him to a lanky, semi-familiar figure slumped against a basalt basin wall. "Sam?!" Where was the beanie? Where was the frump and awkward need to shrink in upon herself? Or the distraught, destructive self-reflection that had followed her break-up with Kat. That had lasted an eternity. In fact, she might not even recognize him, it had been so long. He'd changed quite a few things himself, or had them changed against expectations. Life was just... funny, that way. "What are doing here?" He knew enough not to waste his time tracking her. She was always too sneaky for that, which made her invaluable in O&I. Before their conversation could progress, the ruins next to them suddenly shimmered with a golden glow, shuddering and shaking off the overgrown tangle of vines to reveal what might have one been someplace marvelous. Freyd was worried they'd just triggered another dungeon and lifted his arm protectively, only to recall what it held. And then the redcap appeared, complete with googles and something resembling a dousing rod, held proudly in hand. The last vestiges of whatever proc it had just finished, clearly linking it to the ruin's renewal. Freyd was too busy glancing suspiciously at the wielder, thinking there was something uncannily familiar about the girl. What could possibly have brought together such a trio of odd ducks to this place on a Sunday afternoon? *** Assisting Nisahime: Level: 34 Paragon: 31 Tier: 4 True Tier: 18 +10% Final EXP reward True Light Lantern | +1 ACC / +1 LD to party *** Note: CS (Shades of the Gemini) and CSA (Beckon the Void) are in use. Nisahime 0 Posted 2 hours ago Author #4 Share Posted 2 hours ago The insistent chattering birds and rhythmic plucking of a stringed instrument worked wonders to ruin the tranquility of the forest. A jaded old warrior and a girl seeming to no longer be suction cupped to whatever hole she'd like to bury herself in for once. "Could you all pipe it down?" an oddly younger sounding tone that worked to muddy her identity even more then the normal more mature one. "I'm sure I got a pot and pan if you wanna make it official." she'd meander past the duo and slide up the ruins staircase causing her white hair to pool past in its length that damn near went to her knees, which had achieved a much more renewed vigor. The stone would appear to have traveled back in time, or more realistically mended itself once discovered. The rough sandstone now nearly glossy with this revived vitality. A small pencil and slip of paper, and she'd start to scratch away with her tongue poking out. Holding up a thumb as a gauge of scale, the sketching finishes in two fair shakes of an ankle. "Since you all invited yourselves... A girl can't do anything without bumping into one of you lot I swear. First the blonde twin, now the black haired worry wart." Her eyes link to Freyd, the messenger and the mockingbird. "You got real old, but it wasn't my doing. Don't start blaming me. Also when did you become a stick in the mud?" Spoken with a fold of her arms, allowing the rods to poke out the spaces between. Rustling around in her bag on her hip, she'd muster the rods back into it and pull free a pair of brass knuckles and seem to grow into a right gauntlet embossed with blue gemstones as the left remains nothing more then rings. "Least you can do is give me a hand before you actually wake the dead. Also Sam, get better. If my ears could bleed I'd be deaf." Into the now illuminated ruins, the blazing flames glowing in a vibrant orange that crackled with life. A scattering of ancient statues and stonework, depicting all manner of shapes appearing avian. "Huh, not what I expected but its surely old enough." The chick starts to run her hand down the front and sides of structure looking for a mechanism or lever. A tried and experienced hunter of such things, this wasn't her first rodeo.
Sam 0 Posted 2 hours ago #5 Share Posted 2 hours ago Hands now completely stop playing, as just eyes turn to the familiar voice. Freyd's... Head turns to see the aged man wondering this way. Pupils widen as the old rusted building was no longer what it was. "What the..." getting to her feet now. Backing up to get a better look. Without a second glance at the man being awed by what was missed, "Please call me Rose." Rubbing her eyes with the one free hand she had. After realizing that this was real, glancing at the old fella with the caps voice. "Aging doesn't look good on you, you should figure out how to undo it," saying with a small unintentional laughter. Watching the younger version of NISA... The woman walks past them, "To be far its hard to play something without notes in front of you. I'm playing it by ear from years ago now." Twisting the base around to her back now, as the strap slides against her chest. "I was thinking it was the most peaceful spot to learn but now I'm not so sure." Giving Freyd a smile as she began to walk backwards toward the now ruined area that Nisahime has apparently created. Why was she not surprised. Walking into the mysterious place, it was unlike anything she had ever seen before. "And to think, I was leaning against this thing for weeks..." Looking around unsure what how this place even existed and how it manifested in the first place. "Where are we and how can we help. THAT IS IF THE OLD MAN IS COMING!" The last was yelled out with hands cupped to her mouth outward of the ruins so that Freyd would hear.
Freyd 0 Posted 1 hour ago #6 Share Posted 1 hour ago Like so many men before him, Freyd was snared and tugged along in the wake of feminine hijinks. At least, thanks to Elora, he'd finally learned to just go with it, rather than bashing his helmetless head against fate. in this case, literally. Of course it was Nisa. It was always Nisa, everytime things went especially weird. Groaning internally, eyes dulled and looking nowhere in the way guys get when beset by female natter on all sides, he soon swapped his rod for his sword. Ironic, considering some would accuse him of just having surrendered his balls. Wisdom and wife taught compromise, or at least better awareness of which battles were worth fighting. Not quite sure what to make of the whole instrument thing, he just nodded along like it all made sense. The 'husband nod', he'd come to call it. "Thanks," he offered insincerely, to her suggestion about his looks. Elora liked the look, so it wasn't going anywhere. As Sam, now Rose, bellowed her taunts back at him, he flinched and mentally batted away the idea of just locking them in here and laughing it up back at the bar back in.. whatever the settlement around the portal was called. Even he couldn't remember it. At least the drunks would have a good laugh. "More roses? Am I a magnet for Tudors now, or something?" The historical reference fell flat, mostly because masonry has no sense of humor. "It just sits there, witless, mor'arless." Pun delivered, solely to his own benefit, it was enough to buoy his spirits and delve into the depths after the pair who'd already plumbed ahead. Somewhere, they'd been a drumroll and clash of cymbals. He was sure of it. "Why are all the women in my life insane? I swear... not one of them is normal..." Muttering as he descended the winding tunnel stair into the ruins, this sorts of spelunking was always easier when he wore less bulky outerwear. "Wait... isn't Sam...err... Rose an archer? And Nisa usually ran around with bear hands, wielding her entourage as edges, bludgeons and pokey sticks." Another groan, yet he hastened his pace all the same. Close quarters were a death knell for a ranged fighter, and Nisa was... well... Nisa. By the time he cleared the stairs, the white-haired dungeon diver had already lit several braziers from her torch to reveal a cavernous central chamber. "Harpies? Aaracokra, maybe? I don't quite recognize the markings. This one looks like someone crossed a toucan with a platypus."
