Ciela had only just recovered from her last visit to Floor 5. The scorching sun, the endless dunes, it was basically a sandy sauna with monsters. She, Wulfrin, and Astra had somehow managed to take down both the Sandshark and Avalanche in a single chaotic day. Just thinking about it made her want to drink three gallons of water and take a week-long nap. The desert was not her favorite place, but it had what she needed: another Terra Firma Scale.

With a sigh and a roll of her shoulders, she swiped open her menu, the soft glow of the interface flickering against her fingers. An idea had struck, clear and sudden. She didn’t have to suffer the dunes alone. She tapped out a quick message to two players she trusted, ones who wouldn’t mind diving back into the heat with her for a solid cause. With that, the plan was already in motion.

Ciela stood just off the main path, eyes scanning the hazy horizon for any sign of movement. Her husband, the top of Acanthus’ red hair, or even Kumaki charging ahead like an excited little cannonball. The desert air shimmered around her, heat rolling off the dunes like waves off an oven. She took another sip of the cactus juice she’d packed. It was cool, slightly bitter, and certainly helped take the edge off the heat… but it wasn’t exactly the quenchiest. Still, better than nothing. She wiped a bead of sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, only for several more to immediately take its place. Her clothes clung to her from the dampness, her armor heating up like a skillet in the sun. Ciela fanned herself half-heartedly with her menu and muttered, “If they don’t show soon, I’m turning into a baked good out here. And not the fun kind.”
