Morningstar 0 Posted Sunday at 03:33 PM #1 Share Posted Sunday at 03:33 PM The Labyrinth had a way of changing itself when stragglers became to accustomed to its layout. The walls shifted in ways that did not make sense. Entire locations seemed to teleport, disorienting any who exist within them. There was no telling where they might end up next, or if they would exist at all. Sometimes, there was a garden. Thematically, it did not fit with the layout of the floor. Lush, vibrant vegetation and thriving wildlife dotted every corner of the garden, while outside, the world was dull. Dull skies. Dull walls. Dull everything. Anyone could have stumbled into the garden if they weren't watching their step, but in the maze, nobody ever found it on purpose. There were many entrances, and many paths that led to it. Morningstar entered from the east while searching for something else entirely: a Foreboding Tower, where sometimes dragons slept. He had come to the garden before. The first time, on Floor 11, Nemo, the caretaker, brought him all the way from Taft to see the flowers. Many times after, during slow periods, he visited the gardener. He went as often as he could (which, regrettably, was not that often at all), bringing gifts from the outside world. Morningstar was fond of Nemo. Never before had he found the garden inside the Labyrinth, however. His weary eyes brightened at the sight of colour and the touch of the fresh breeze against his skin. The dead air in the maze made him sick, and it took the Garden of Eden to fill his lungs with life again. A small family of snapdragons chirped from their nest. The mother fed her babies a type of fruit unknown to Morningstar. He passed them by, wishing not to bother them. He wandered into the heart of the garden, a welcome guest. Mari 1 Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM #2 Share Posted yesterday at 04:06 AM She needed money. Mari was flat ass broke after upgrading her house. Mainly thanks to Freyd giving her the inspiration and desire to finally upgrade her house. Partly, partly because her beloved got a little bit too excited and singed a hole in the ceiling. She’d have to remind herself to chemically treat the entire place before he visited. So, Mari found herself in a very lush labyrinth - filed with thriving wildlife and thick flora. Vegetation burst from every nook and cranny. Grass grew between cracks in the path, if Mari were to look up at the sky it was practically enshrouded in a see of filtered green. Not exactly her cup of tea; but also - nowhere near as bad as say, the 29th floor. The smells were mostly nice - every so often Mari would be hit with a little too much perfumey scent of florals. Something she didn’t really like. Mari had managed to stumble into a small garden - “What the….?” Here the absolutely wild and vivid vegetation fell way to a clearing. Well kept. Before her stood an NPC and another player- one she vaguely recognized - pretty sure I went to get my stuff appraised from the guy? Mari took a cautious step forward, the scene seemed to be a happy one, and she felt like an unwelcome intruder. -Following buffs consumed- Gungir's Shard (Smores Skewer) | EVA II, PROTEIN II Gelato | LD III Mousse | PROSPERITY III Imperial Quarter Blend | DMG III Mari | HP: 960/960 | EN: 134/134 | DMG: 26 | MIT:4 | ACC:4 | AA | EVA:6 | BH:53 | BLI: 32/-20 | ENV-O: 32 | PARA-V | LD:4 | PROSP:3 Spoiler Name: Mari True Tier: 11 Level: 34 Paragon Level: 70 HP: 960/960 EN: 134/134 Stats: Damage: 26 Mitigation: 4 Accuracy: 4 Evasion: 6 Battle Healing: 53 Loot Die: 4 Stealth Rating: 5 AA BLI: 32/-20 ENV-O: 32 PARA-V Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - Paralytic Contagion | T4 | Absolute ACC I | Paralytic Venom I | Envenom OFF I | Blight I Armor/Trinket: - Infernal Shadow-Redemption | T4 | EVA III | MIT I Shield/Armor/Trinket: - Glasses | T1 | ACC III Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage R3 Combat Shift: - AOE Shift Familiar Skill: - Rending Familiar Custom Skill: - Skills: - Battle Healing R5 - Charge - Cloth Armor R5 - Energist - Polearm R5 Extra Skills: - Survival - Hiding R5 - First Aid R3 Inactive Extra Skills: Addons: - Focus - Nimble - Precision - Stamina Mods: - Athletics - Night Vision - Surpise Attack: Trickster - Untraceable - Vanish Inactive Mods: Battle Ready Inventory: Housing Buffs: - Storage Closet: +1 Battle Ready Inventory Slot - Dining Room: Turn 2 identical food items (same quality, tier, & enhancements) into a Lesser Feast. Morningstar 0 Posted 7 hours ago Author #3 Share Posted 7 hours ago Morningstar was quickly greeted by Nemo. The caretaker had stopped tending to his plants to see him, although he admitted that he couldn't stay to chat long. "You look well," the gardener said. "Same to you," Star smiled. "The garden looks lively as ever." Roses were in bloom, Morningstar noticed. He also noticed that another player was walking towards them. Immediately, he recognized her. She had come by his shop just the other day, with little col and a few items in need of appraisal. Oh. Now this is interesting. The orange cursor remained high above her head. Twice now, he was meeting her outside a safezone, and twice he gave in to curiosity. Pinball came to mind. Whether she was in the same vain as him or a true player killer was yet to be seen. Still, he was at ease. "Greetings," Nemo gave a slight bow. He didn't seem to notice the cursor--or, if he did, it didn't bother him either. "Welcome to my garden. I hope you enjoy your visit," the gardener said. Then, he was off to continue his work. Left in eachother's company, Morningstar took it upon himself to set the conversation. "It's rare for two people to meet in the garden on their own. How's your wallet treating you?" Mari 1 Posted 5 hours ago #4 Share Posted 5 hours ago The man talked to the NPC amicably, Mari did her best not to roll her eyes. NPCs.... She thought. Mari didn't think much of them, but she would do her utmost best not to judge those who found camaraderie or companionship with them. Everyone dealt with this place in different ways, and Mari supposed NPCs were the large majority within Aincrad now. "Greetings," Nemo gave a slight bow. He didn't seem to notice the cursor--or, if he did, it didn't bother him either. "Welcome to my garden. I hope you enjoy your visit," the gardener said. "yo," A nod of acknowledgement and a simple greeting to the NPC nothing more. Then turning to the man - what was his name again? Mari wasn't sure she caught it. She felt a little guilty about that. She was in a rush. NPCs were one thing, but there was little reason to be rude to another player. Especially one who had more or less given her a discount because was flat broke. "It's rare for two people to meet in the garden on their own. How's your wallet treating you?" "Yeaaah....I'm flat ass broke." Mari said with a sigh, and a scratch at her cheek a she averted her gaze. I was told there were things here that could help fix that, just a little. Appreciate the discount by the way. Even if I didn't give you much of a choice. Mari. By the way." She wouldn't offer her hand up for a shake, but she did offer the man a small smile, as awkward as it was. And a nod of her head. "You seem..." Her eyes shifted to the gardener NPC. "Awfully chummy with the...people around here. I know what they say about assuming, but I assume you know something?" A tilt of her head. "Would you help, in exchange for a portion of whatever I find?"
