[F4 -PP-PT] Learning New Skills

Pulling her long white coat closer together, shivering with every step made. Raidou was out and she didn't want to stay in the house today. She wanted to learn something new. Her choices were a bit limited, there was the piano that just showed up. She was still unsure when he had gotten it but without basic music knowledge there was no possible way that she could learn such a complex instrument. There was the dance that Raidou had shown her time and time again but dancing around the house with nothing to latch on to, it would look a bit stupid even if she was alone. There was cooking but she was already starting to get a grasp on that. She really didn't want Raidou to come home to a bunch of pies or muffins laying everywhere, he might think that something was wrong which was very much not the case. There was swimming but it was a bit boring without someone else so that left her with only one thing that she could think of off the top of her head. Skating or rather ice skating. It was something that she had seen Haine and Raidou do and her last attempts on the ice was no more than Raidou dragging her around keeping her in an upright position.

Light snow fell, she was making sure not to breath to had. She was used to the heat not everything this was. But it was something that she could learn alone and if she fell on her butt there would be nothing and no one to be embarrassed by. Thick white snow pants with three layers of shirts and a jacket finished with a pear of dark cobalt blue ear muff should keep her warm right? At the cusp on the ice she would drop a pair of ice skates down. She would try them without first giving she knew that she was already a klutz, balance was not her forte especially on ice. Putting hear arms out on either side of her she starts to walk onto the large ice rink. At first she was doing fine but then her foot slips right out from under her. She is left laying there staring at the white sky, "This is going to be harder than I thought."

[Mari 1]

Mari was making the trek from the upper floors back to her home - it'd taken several hours. Literally. It wasn't easy being a Pker sometimes. She was looking forward to going home, and if Lancaster was there - curling up in his lap and having a cold hard drink, and a well earned rest. The woman trudged through the snow - tattered scarf wrapped tightly around her face. She wore thick black leggings beneath her usual attire, but her freckled arms were still bare. The Survival skill did most of the work, but the cold air was still somewhat uncomfortable.

Mari paused and held out her palm skywards as snow began to lightly fall. That meant there would be a blizzard tonight. Then, she heard it, the faint scratching of metal on ice. She immediately stilled, thinking the worst. How many people had she come across lately? And how many people had recognized her and wanted her dead? Several members of the Laughing Coffin had cropped up into her life, some good, others bad - players who spat vitriol at her. She was sick of it. 

More cautious now, Mari continued forward. This was close to her home, too close. There could be no possible way this was a coincidence. Rounding a corner of trees Mari saw it. A Blonde woman with cheeks rosy red from the bite of the bitter cold. She was definitely  not dressed for fighting. She looked like she could barely move with thick white snow pants, and several layers on her upper half. She hadn't seen Mari yet, and Mari doubted she'd hear her if she called out- not with those giant blue puffballs against her ears. At least she was dressed for the floor.

Mari approached, curiously and watched as she stepped onto the ice. Wobbling as her arms spread out on either side. One cautious step in front of the other. Oh. It was simply someone wanting to learn to skate. Nothing innocuous. Nothing bad. No insidious plans or schemes or tapestries being woven. 

Just a simple moment in a complicated world.

Fwoop, up went her foot as she fell hard right on her backside. 

"This is going to be harder than I thought."

Mari pulled the scarf down and away from her mouth.

"You'll get there."

Staring up as she blinked the light bits of snow away from her eyes. It was then that another female was heard. At first Eruda didn't look, she was out here alone and she didn't have her gear equipped. Closing her eyes for a moment trying to get a hold of her panicked emotion. With who ever this was were going to kill her she would be dead or at least a sword or hand to the throat, something, but there was nothing. Sitting up she would slide her body around to find a semi familiar face. "Oh hey," a smile on her face as she would take a better look at her surrounding. Seeing a building make a soft rocks, that was not something familiar to her. To her that meant that this was not the same ice patch that Rai and Haine were at. "Mari right?" She would ask as she attempts to get to her feet with wobbly legs. Good thing those skates were not on yet, she would be in real trouble of staying up right. If this girl did not recognize her it may be a bit suss that Eruda knew her name. "I was there with Raidou and Freyd with the Chaser..." she would drop it. It was a rough day for them all an why bring up horrible memories. "Sorry I didn't meant to bring..." taking a deep breath to try calming down. She was okay with people that she knew, but when it came to new people it was awkward for her. 

"Raidou speaks very highly about you, I am Eruda," she would hold out a hand toward Mari. Everyone greats people in a different way. Some hug some do nothing but she goes with the more formal way of things, a hand shake. "If this is your house, I didn't mean to intrude. I seem to of gotten my location mixed around." She smile and stays still, mainly because it she moved and Mari did take her hand to greet her, she really didn't feel like dragging her down with her.

There was a long pause as she stayed firmly planted on the ice. Keeping her face away from Mari. What on earth is she doing? "Oh hey," She finally spoke, her voice a little shaken, perhaps from the cold - or embarrassment that someone had just watched her fall. Mari wasn't sure, and quite frankly didn't care enough to over analyze a simple interaction. There didn't seem to be anything nefarious going on. She was just trying to enjoy herself.

 "Mari right?" She wore a serene and soft smile, and her eyes were soft - as though she wouldn't be capable of hurting anyone. But Mari had been tricked by looks like that before. The moment her name was mentioned Mari visibly bristled. Toned muscles twitched with a readiness as her hand sat on a satchel by her side, ready to pull out all manner of things to defend herself and leave the area quickly. The blonde struggled to stand , her legs constantly shaking. Surely she wouldn't be a threat...surely...

 "I was there with Raidou and Freyd with the Chaser..."

Mari exhaled, her shoulders slumped as she calmed down. She knew Raidou and Freyd.  That could have gone a very different way. Mari rubbed the back of her neck, shifting her eyes away from the woman. Whatever happened to being more trusting of people? "No." Mari said. "You're fine. Chaser was a good kid - but jumped to conclusions too easily and caused a mess. You ain't got nothing to do with that."

Why was Mari so on edge lately with new people? Well...she supposed the woman wasn't new. Mari vaguely recalled the incident but if she were to be brutally honest..."Sorry." She said simply, "I don't really recall you there." It wasn't supposed to be an insult, nor was it rude - it was just brutal honesty.

"Raidou speaks very highly about you, I am Eruda,"

Raidou? Mari blinked as she started to walk toward Eruda. Pausing at the edge of the lake where the snow broke away to mirrored ice. Oh...was this the woman he talked about? Mari wasn't sure he ever mentioned her name, just that he met someone that changed him for the better. "I'd introduce myself." Mari said, "But you already know me." Eruda held out a small gloved hand, a friendly introduction, an offer of friendship. Mari glanced down and hesitated before reaching out and offering her a small but firm and awkward shake. She couldn't remember the last time someone introduced themselves so earnestly like that. It was...sweet. She could see how she managed to get under Raidou's skin.

. "If this is your house, I didn't mean to intrude. I seem to of gotten my location mixed around." 

Mari glanced at the treeline that surrounded the lake, just past it sat the top of her house. Right. It was two stories now. It wasn't as hidden as it used to be...still, they were a good 20 minutes away from the settlement.

"yeh..." Mari said as her eyes traveled back to Eruda. "Not many come this way."

Mari...wasn't the best at conversations like this. Not sober.

"So..." Mari began, in a desperate attempt to try to keep things light. "Did Raidou tell you how many of his glasses I broke?"

"To be fair I was pretty easy to miss, I didn't talk much back then." Eruda looks down at the ice and starts nodding her head almost like she was counting with each bob. After a moment she started making strides backwards, her feet were moving to the motion of her head. It was like dancing with out the head movement. Shifting herself around, changing directing, going forward not backward. Counting the steps under her breath. It was not fast or graceful but she wasn't falling on her ass which is all she cared about. The other stuff would come with time. "Well knowing you and knowing your name are two very different things." She would slowly slide to a stops before taking in inhale and a quick puff out. Her chest was pounding at the fact that she really didn't want to fall again, the counting thing helped. "I know that he had to keep replacing them, it's nice to put a face to the mystery." Giving a small chuckle as she plants her butt in the snow. 

Taking off her gloves, setting them on her lap. She starts rubbing her hands together, at first it didn't look like anything. A few seconds pass before a small burst of blue flames appear in her hands. Moving it closer to her face as she began to de-thaw. It was a trick she learned a little bit ago but never had to use it until now. Glancing up to Mari, "If it concerns you, I don't care for your marker. I have another friend with one too." Setting the flame down on the ground, it melted the snow in the one foot radius around and it doesn't go out. It was the size of a soft ball and it burned hot like a mini camp fire. She pulls a canteen from her inventory with two mugs. Pouring some hot steamed brown liquid in each, allowing the holding to vanish back it her bag. It smelt of rich chocolate. Unsure it Mari would drink it, she would take a sip first to ensure the woman that she wasn't trying to harm her in any way. "I do not judge, I rather get to know them myself. Make my own opinion about people I don't know. Unless they are an immediate threat, that is different." Her blue eyes looks up to see another set of the same color but a little lighter. "I also heard that you use to be an angry person, believe or not that was me once too..." Thinking about her mother, Mari would see the flame sitting on the ground grow just a little bigger.
