If her workshop wasn't hidden away close to her house she may very well have moved her home here. There was also the matter of her pyromaniac beau. Having a house surrounded by snow is one thing; but having a house surrounded by very burnable trees? Might be a bit harder to contain their more passionate romps. Mari hadn't really had any particular place in mind - she simply just wanted to do something away from everything and everyone. Mari wasn't ever made to be a social person. Yet things constantly pushed her to be. Her batteries were fucked. Dead. Ain't no way they'd be charged, even by her paramour. So, she walked the floor; enjoying the scenery till she found a lake - about 10 minutes from the main settlement, Ronbaru. Perhaps a little too close for her liking, but Mari wasn’t going to be picky. She pulled out a small cushioned stool from her inventory and allowed it to clatter uselessly to the floor as she set up her rod. Wasting no time in casting it. Mari 1 Posted 13 hours ago Author #2 Share Posted 13 hours ago (edited) “Well…” Mari said with the most heaviest of ever sighs, as she reached out to grab the empty hook that hung and swung from her fishing rod. “That’s what I get for not putting bait on it…” She said, even though she didn’t need to say a thing, it was as though she just had to say something to fill some sort of empty space. Anyway, Mari wrapped some bait around the hook and threw it out. After a few minutes the floater bobbed, dipped below the lakes surface. Mari could already tell what it was just by the weight of it, a material. It wouldn’t be much but it’d be something. She slowly reeled it in, her movements almost mechanical. As she really was just going through the motions. Then plop out came the little material crystal as it skidded across the water. Mari quickly pocketed it. She didn’t need to make the same mistake as last time, letting it all pile up on the floor. She looked at peace here, amidst the falling red maple leaves. But she was still a Pker. At least one player had already passed her on the way to Ronbaru - pausing to stare at her, his mouth wide. Looked like he was about to piss himself. Mari stared back, then flipped him off. He ran. “Dumbass…” Mari muttered as she threw out her line. Hopefully nothing would come of it. Surely he wouldn’t go around telling everyone there was a Pker casually fishing in the field. Gods forbid a person sit and do the Aincrad equivalent of nothing. After a few minutes of her floater staying still Mari reeled in the rod. No luck this time. That’s alright. Her eyes shifted to the sun. She had time, Mari planned to spend most of the day doing this. She repeated this a few times then stopped to grab some more bait. With practised ease Mari wrapped it around the hook then with a small fwoom her line was cast. Mari had to admit…she was a little concerned about that previous player. Then again, he also seemed like he would be too scared to do anything. ‘Sides what would be the worst that would happen? He calls up a couple of his friends and they come running? Mari could disable them from afar and run off before they even drew their weapons. Thunk Oh. A chest. Mari pulled hard on her rod then with a few spins of her reel; pulled it up. “Aight…” Most of the stuff she got, she’d probably throw toward Star - get her Col count back up. She wanted to be sitting at a reasonable amount. Everything cost a damn premium for Pkers. No wonder why half of them just resorted to stealing everything. “Mmmm…not too bad.” Mari said to herself. No dungeon Maps, but she didn’t really see the point in using them anyway. She had time to herself here. Time to her thoughts. Time to relax and destress. Next time though…maybe she would invite someone else. That could be nice. Fond memories of a friendly competition between an old friend resurfaced and Mari couldn’t help but smile. A simple material. Mari held it up to the sun, watching it twist and turn - the crystal glimmering as a shattered rainbow light shined upon Mari in glimmering fractals. “Yanno….” She said to herself, as one does when they spend as much time alone as she does. “It’s crazy how I seem to get more items than I do materials…maybe fishing isn’t what I remembered.” Mari wasn’t really planning on returning to her alchemy profession. Unless it benefitted her, and those she considered family. Anyone who wanted to shop for anything could go somewhere else. Not her problem. Before being dragged into Jacobs Ladder and being a pillar - the precarious time she had between her initial return from a recluse hole and her time burning fast as one of the strongest frontliners. It was…nice. If only it stayed that way. Mari heard voices in the distance, she couldn’t help but turn her head to look. That man was back- too far away to ascertain any real features from him, but he had two other people with him now. They were staring her down - one of them, a blonde - shook the middle man and pointed at Mari like she was some kind of sideshow attraction. Again, Mari drew her hand up, flipping them off. Once again…the action was enough to cause them to run. Back to Ronbaru. It was gonna be one of those days, wasn’t it? “Ah. Damn.” She said to herself, her attention turning back to the line - it was too much of a distraction - and she missed her chance to fish up another material, or chest. Or whatever the hell else she would manage to get from here. She’d need a lot of it so she could finish fireproofing her home. She’d be pissed if she were judged for being with Oscar. Oscar was a great friend, with amazing benefits - but those benefits were…no longer required. It didn’t mean Mari still didn’t want to see the man. Maybe, their friendship would be a little better without that haze of lust that constantly addled all their interactions. Maybe? Then again - he was a very handsome man and Mari knew he had a number of callers. Having one less would probably barely put a dent in his horizontal dalliances. Mari wouldn’t miss the intimacy, there was none between the two -just physical attraction, a simple need to fill desires. But it had been nice - Oscar definitely had a way with him and Mari could see why he easily had so many people fawning over him. It was an odd way to cement a stronger friendship to be sure, but at least they still had that friendship. Hopefully her current partner wouldn’t get in the way of that too much. A mousey looking man with peach fuzz stubble and bright green eyes. Mari tilted her head as her eyes shifted to the fishing rod still in her hand. “Uhm….Fishing?” The man next to him - about a head taller and bald with blue eyes and a very thick black handlebar moustache cleared his throat. He wore chainmail, and had a long sword at his side. His hand resting on the pommel. Was that supposed to be a threatening pose? How could anyone take him seriously with a face like that. “Miss.” He began. Mari turned to look at the three; they kept themselves at a safe distance, and since all three of them held long swords - it also left her at a safe position. Not that they knew she had other tools at her disposal. “And if you’re looking for a guy - I am lacking one appendage, and have an extra pair that I am pretty sure your target doesn’t have.” “This is a ruse.” Andrew said with a smirk, as if he cracked some kind of secret hidden code Mari had. “You’re scouting the area for your friends, so they can rampage through the town again.
