[F18-PP-PT] Starfall (The Poisonous Warg)

Patting the side of the metallic horse, the woman had found a renewed vigor. The system so desperately had tried to force her down, trying to suffocate her strength for all of Aincrad's existence and her existence within it. From the simple fact of being jammed in a digital nowhere that she had since made her home or the fact that her screens were still fuzzy and broken. Her's did not match the normal, nor did her skills of ancient make. The trips to mount olympus had proven fruitful. Her own effort bearing its own fruits. This place held hard at its chains and yet little by little, she found herself liberated through constant persistence and tenacity. Jumping down off her horse, she assumed this were the place. It was finally time to stretch those boundaries even further, pushing back against the implied tyranny of rules imposed on her.

Her armor forms as her appearance shifts, a much more mature telling and a mix of her freedoms and power. The strange bluish cursor bouncing over her head, the system itself denoting her a curiosity. A flick of her wrist sees a flash of vibrant white light in a split second, and a thin blade in a razors edge forms in her grasp. The black gloves breathe cold mist, and flames begin to burn from its sharpened steel. "Let's see how much I can fuck this up more." The woman offers in a snide remark, holding the blade out as a small shield forms on the opposed arm.

Looking across the red table of the guild hall, there was some quests that didn't look quite right. Some of them were changed, she really wasn't sure how long this was the case. She felt like she needed to go test the waters a bit. Picking up one of the papers she would take note of the quest before heading out. Heading for floor 18, if there was multiple with large changes then she needed to make sure she knew what to expect. Stepping onto the pad, her frame vanishes. Grabbing something out of her bag, she would nibble on some food, she was strong but this was unknown territory. She had to be at her best. Taking the quest from the board, she would have a short chat. Walking out of the building, she sees the back of a familiar set of hairstyle, at least at first glance. Curious still she would open her HUD and send a party invite to Nisahime with a smile. If the woman stopped to look around then it would be exactly who she thought it would be. If not she would have some explaining to do. Walking behind the woman a bit slower to make she her suspicions were right before approaching the female.

POST ACTION - Speaking to Gyrald

Wasn't this one of the quests that was on the list of items that Jacobs Ladder needed? Mari couldn't remember. She would prefer to go down a few levels and fight the phoenix, rather...that was what she was on her way to go do but then by proximity sake she came upon this quest. Mari was wearing her scarf wrapped tightly around her lower face, save the NPCs from attacking her outright for the ever ominious glowing crystal above her head.

Another one of the reasons she was doing all these quests

Gaining these items would allow the woman to attempt Redemption. She had to be fully stocked for something like that. Especially if Freyd of all people had been scared for her life.

The conversation with the NPC was about as typical and uneventful as can be, a quick exchange of words to denote the enemy, and the location. Easy enough. Stepping away from the man Mari notices another player nearby.
 

"Let's see how much I can fuck this up more." 

 

The thought of teaming up with someone she didn't know really didn't vibe well with the woman...but the white haired lady seemed itching to go, maybe this would make things quicker. "Oi." Mari began. In all senses of the situation, it looked suspicious. A player killer whose lower face was covered asking to tag along on a quest? That just spelt trouble. Then again...Mari's eyes lifted up to see her cursor. Why the fuck was it blue? Maybe this was a bad idea; Mari went to turn away only to see Eruda there, oh. A familiar face.

"Eruda?" Mari asked, her voice muffled. Her eyes shifted from her to the other woman. "So..do you mind if...I join you both?"

If the women said no, Mari would simply shrug and walk away. She didn't have any issues against Eruda but there was still that level of unease between them, the kind that was between two near strangers.
"Thanks for the flowers...by the way."

The woman would turn to take a glance at them both, finding both of their would be timing to be impeccable. "If I would have known I'd have such company, I would have brought more horses. Guess you'll both have to ride in the caravan." A twist of her left arm, the blade in her right would slide in a space just above her wrist before its slid onto her back. Tapping through a screen that would register transparent, all manner of icons that seemed dated in reds, yellows, blues, and whites. A little beep like a system noise pops. "A pleasure I'm sure Mari, nice hair." she'd lean offering a hand down to Mari to give it a shake. These obnoxious idiots and their droning about quest topics caught a bit of her ire, always prattling on an on about 'do this, do that.' like she was a child.

A twist of her foot out of her saddle, she boots the NPC fucker face first into the mud. The muffled talking continues unending. Her cursor flickers but remains a stark blue, failing to transition or consider it. The metal plated horse snorts, allowing the white flames to escape through its platelets.

Seeing two familiar faces as they turn, she can't help but chuckle. Such crazy timing that they would be here all at the same time. "You are always welcome Mari," glancing to Nisahime with a smile. "We wouldn't be able to keep up with you anyway." She knew this, she watched Nisa the other day wiz past her on that horse while she road another of hers. "No problem, how have you been?" Holding out a hand to Mari to help her in the Caravan. The fact that Nisahime knew Mari's name was curious, but it didn't surprise her. Somehow the woman knew everything. They started down the road, it seemed to be slower than she wanted. This wasn't supposed to take longer than an hour, hopefully they would speed up a bit. "CAN THIS THING GO ANY FASTER" calling to the driver. She hears something being murmured by the dude and it starts to speed up a bit, good. "That's Nisahime by the way, a good friend of mine. Make sure you don't slow her down, she can get a bit grumpy sometimes," saying to Mari with a small chuckle.

How did the other woman know Mari's name? Did Eruda mention it? Or was it the party invite system? It wasn't odd for people to simply know who she was either. So Mari brushed it off. 

"Oh." Mari reached out and gave the woman's hand a shake Nisahime "Same. Yours is like...Is it predictable to say its like starlight?" Probably was. It was the first thing that came to Mari's mind so naturally it would have been the first thing that came to many others. Nisahime's hand was slightly cold and...clammy? No.. Slimy? No...just very cold maybe? As Mari drew her hand away she stared at it. Bone dry. Huh. That was weird. Looking up at the other woman her gloved hand looked clean, and dry. Very weird.

Mari would go to climb onto the carriage, with Eruda's help watching Nisahime dropkick the NPC into the ground. "HA!" Mari would state loudly. "Fuckin' Deserved."

Mari turned to Eruda now. "It's...good to see you again. I've been well." Mari closed her eyes thinking of what she had been doing the last few days, just flaffing around with Lancaster - and playing around with her experiments. "Yeh. I can't really complain. I was working my way toward some of the drops these quests and field bosses had. Preparing for redemption and all that."

That's Nisahime by the way, a good friend of mine. Make sure you don't slow her down, she can get a bit grumpy sometimes,"

Mari nodded, "So...is there a reason for the..." She pointed up toward Nisahime. "The blue marker?"

*Turn Order Shift to spare Mari of lots of math

A pile of stupid rushes in from all sides of the caravan, biting at the wheels and breaking off sections of wood. The woman looks on in slight irritation as such a simple task was made much more annoying. A flash of light from her back sees her holding a longbow, and drawing the string sees it released in a breakneck blaze of white light that cuts right through one. "Cute." Nisa goads as she hops from her saddle, turning the bow it flashes into a long two handed sword with a void like black blade that would likely appear familiar to Mari she drives into another wolf. Its head removed it splatters in blue glass like a plate upon a floor from the impact. A click of her tongue and a wave of her finger in disapproval.

"Not too bright are we? Get over here."

That great sword is raised and another flash sees it turn into a spear tipped in black ichor, and its heaved at high velocity into the things abdomen. A twist of her wrist sees a chain appear between her weapon and her right hand, and a snap back rips it toward her as that weapon of hers transitions straight into a gauntlet that she drives into it sending it bouncing off to her left side. It skips like a stone, causing her hair to wave angrily. "Its great to be home."

Quest Objective | Caravan Attack (Ambush)

Creatures came from all sides of the caravan, rushing them, ramming their bodies into it. "Ugh...that was quick..." Mari muttered. She glanced out the window to see them attacking the wheels, biting off bits of wood - all manner of ways to try and destroy the cart. But Nisahime was very quick - Mari had only just managed to pull herself out of the window and equip one of her weapons before the silver haired woman strike.

First, she attacked with a longbow - ranged - useful. Then, it flashed into something else. Huh?  Mari had a demonic weapon that was similar in the past, a drop from a floor boss...but it didn't just change in your fucking hands. It changed depending on the users skills. So this? This was entirely new. next, a black sword, then finally. "Is that my fucking...?" Mari recognized it. She wasn't currently using it but that black tipped spear with an almost hyperdemic like tip. That was her old weapon.

"How the fuck...." 

There wasn't time. There was still one more creature left. Mari pulled on her fingerless glove - and used the small wire to wrap around the creatures head. Pulling tight it fell to the floor, already paralyzed from whatever attack Nisa had done. Then with a gruesome 'THUNK' Mari's halberd landed directly in its skull. The creature garbled as it was hit with several status ailments before exploding in red fractals.

Mari turned to Nisahime. "So...what was that?"

Quest Objective | Roleplay the ending

Head pokes out of the window of the caravan after feeling the creatures rock the boat. Watching Nisahime pull a bunch of weapons for skills that were familiar to her. She had seen this woman pull out multiple weapons but never in combat and never so swiftly in motion. Seeing Mari start to freak out, that was when she jumps out of the cart. Feet hit the ground with a puff of smoke from the dirt. "Please Mari take a breath" touching her shoulder with a hand, it was warm. Mari could feel just how hot Eruda was now, she could see a slight aura of blue surrounding her skin where the hand laid. It didn't burn but she could definitely feel the heat from her palm. She was always more heated before battle and it took a while for that amp to fade.

How did she explain Nisahime to her, this was something a bit new, something that she didn't have to think about til now. "I state my statement from before, she is a friend of Firm Anima's. The only thing that I can think to say is she is a very weird woman." Eruda was almost speechless. Looking at Morrighan, pretty much telling her by look alone that if she wanted to explain better she could. "This quest is over obviously, so uh yea..." The quest chimed at completion as both the cart and the guy driving it heals up and continues down the dirt road. Apparently it was a safe passage the rest of the way making them not needed anymore.

The white haired woman turns her wrists to look to the inner tethers of the gauntlets, raising them up like a boxers stance. A jerk forward like she's tossing something and the weapons disperse in a quick blinding flash of white light. "Long story. I could explain if you'd like but I wont promise you'll understand afterward. But your correct, it was your weapon. Also Eruda, rude. Ever think your weird to me?" As a form of show and tell, she'd lift her hands and another flicker of white shows a replica of Mari's glove and wire down to the exact length. Releasing the cord, it springs back and causes her left hand to slingshot. "Recoil is a bit much, don't you think?" Walking up to her horse as the carriage continues toward snakewhatever without their direct puppy guarding, the woman offers it quick couple taps on its neck. Her whole body flashes in that same white, and in mere moments she was a foot shorter and would appear a lot younger with a matched green marker. Clad in a blood red dress and black knee high black boots. "I suppose this is done and over, I think I am going for some yogurt." She'd point to Eruda "Yogurt?" then at Mari "Yogurt?.... Had just about enough of endless useless dribble from the fomor, that coding is god awful."

 "Please Mari take a breath"

"I'm fine, was just surprising, is all." Mari said as she waved Eruda off, she appreciated the attempt to comfort her, but it wasn't needed. Mari was so used to the heat that Lancaster extruded that the overly warm hand didn't even register as anything else other than normal to Mari. She wasn't hyperventilating, or anything of the sort - it was just a shock to see one of her older weapons being used. The design had been particularly unique. The pole even had the same shield insignia emblazoned on it. A sign of its creator. "That's probably one of the quickest quests I ever took part in." Mari said in honesty as she shifted her gaze to Eruda. "Thanks for tryin to comfort me though." Mari added. Realizing she was probably a little rude earlier, and knowing partly where Eruda came from - she didn't want to add any extra pressure or anxiety to the other woman, Mari simply was just not a very good people person. 

"Long story. I could explain if you'd like but I wont promise you'll understand afterward. But your correct, it was your weapon. Also Eruda, rude. Ever think your weird to me?"

Mari was very curious, but she was also on a little bit of a time crunch. "I am curious...." Mari said as she tapped her lip in thought. "But I'm not sure I'm really in the mood for a long explanation today - I'm meeting up with someone in a few hours - and it'd almost take me that long to get to where I'm going. I ain't got some kooky blue marker or -"

A pause as Nisahime showed another trick, replicating Mari's glove - which wasn't even a weapon. Hell one couldn't even call it an accessory. An experiment, maybe? "Huh..." What next? would she straight up copy Mari's underwear and rip open her shirt to show off? 

"Recoil is a bit much, don't you think?

"Yeh..." Mari said, a little tersely - without meaning to. "It's a work in progress. I haven't had time to go back and tinker with it yet."  After the fiasco with Raidou and the Faceless Lord Mari hadn't had time to just stop. Honestly, if Eruda hadn't called the woman a friend of Firm Anima Mari would have been much more guarded. Something didn't quite sit right with her. But...despite not really knowing Eruda - Mari knew who she was to Raidou. So there was a level of trust she had placed in the other woman. Another flash, and she seemed to shrink a good couple of inches - and with a blink...her crystal was back to being green.

"I have a prior engagement." Mari said, and a part of her wished that she didn't - because quite frankly the woman was an oddity. One that Mari really wanted to sit down and just figure out - although she felt like she'd go slightly mad if she did. No human could physically parse nor understand millions of lines of code that would be updating constantly to run something as complicated as Aincrad. So just, who or what the fuck was this woman?

Eruda would smirk at the woman, "Oh I already know I'm a little weird." A simple smile toward Mari as she brushes her hand away. Nothing thinking anything into it. "Rai is gonna be gone all day and I am going to practice on the ice more, maybe I'll see you later. I sorta bulldozed into Rai the other day cause I couldn't stop..." Her cheeks reddened with a nervous chuckle at the thought of the day. "Mari if you need any more help with these quests that you need to go one, please don't be afraid to ask. I'm a good tank, it might do some good. I'm pretty free most days." It was a bit crazy seeing the woman fight, she had never see Mari fight before. This was a lost opportunity to show off her abilities to Mari, and the only way that she knew how to get someone trust is to prove to be an asset. Eruda didn't have anything to prove really, she knew how much she could handle. 

Glancing to Morrighan, "I would love to go for yogurt, lead the way." With a smile as she starts to walk toward town, she would turn toward Mari "I look forward to working with you again, maybe next time I can show you what I can do. I love your fighting style, can't wait to see more." A almost smirk peers across her lips mixed with excitement. She liked seeing other peoples fight styles, sometime it actually helped her improve what she did. She would follow Nisahime now to whatever place she was going to go for yogurt.
