Lessa 1 Posted 17 hours ago #1 Share Posted 17 hours ago Raven Hollow Cemetery Sunset The final rays of the dying sun fell across the headstones. Long ago, the light had gleamed off the well-polished, well-loved grave markers. Now, it simply cast long shadows, straight black lines crossing the hallowed ground like the bars of a prison cell. It was an apt comparison, considering the souls of the dead were trapped within the crumbling walls of the cemetery. Though the earth had risen and fallen over the years, giving the headstones a tilted, melted appearance, it was evident that they were placed in rows. Someone had taken great care in lining up the monuments like silent soldiers, forever holding watch over the bodies of those whose names they held. Two graves stood apart from the others. The first, positioned nearest to the cemetery gate, was marked with only a crooked wooden cross. The second, on the opposite edge of the cemetery, was marked with nothing but a pile of rocks. A black haze hung above the former, a darkness untouched by the setting sun. Wulfrin 0 Posted 5 hours ago #2 Share Posted 5 hours ago The setting sun was not doing any favors for an already creepy cemetery. In stark contrast to the lovely autumnal vibes of the rest of the floor, Wuflrin couldn't help but get the feeling something was very off here. "We must have taken a wrong turn somewhere," Wulfrin spoke softly to his companion, Astra. "As far as I can tell, this isn't on the Floor 28 map anywhere. We should use caution." Wulfrin pressed on into the graveyard before them. The last time he prowled through burial grounds, he ended up in a knockout drag out with a crazy multiarmed custodian of the grounds. The headstones at one point were no doubt neat and orderly but years of movement in the earth and erosion form the weather left them in various states of disrepair causing them to cast jagged black lines of shadow across the graveyard. Closet to the two swordsmen at the cemetary gate, Wulfrin noticed the crooked wooden cross, different from the slabs of stone from the other graves. A shifting aura of darkness hovered over the grave dirt. Opposite their current position another odd grave stood out, being nothing more than a pile of rocks. "I'm not a fan of spooky dark clouds over graves," Wulfrin commented as he drew his blade it's celestial steel blade harmonizing with the hallowed ground. "I'll take point and we can go from there." * * * Guild Rank 1 | +1% final EXP and Col rewards at end of thread CS | Flames of the Phoenix is in active. Astra 0 Posted 3 hours ago #3 Share Posted 3 hours ago (edited) It had been quite some time since Astra was in a cemetery, not since he was a child. He made it a point to try and avoid them ever since, not due to the fear of ghosts or disturbing the dead - but because the memories were too harrowing. His master was right, they must've taken a wrong turn somewhere on Floor 28, and found themselves here of all places. Unease and discomfort sat heavy in Astra's stomach, and his heart rate seemed to pick up a few beats. An air of mysterious history hung over the graveyard, and that was evident from the stark warped gravestones, neatly aligned and seemingly tended for. At least, they were at one point. The eeriness was palpable, the shadows were looming - yet there was almost a quiet comfort. Astra supposed that maybe that feeling is present in all cemeteries. They were intended to be a place of respect and remembrance for those who passed. It's just that usually these places ended up macabre, and in most books Astra's read, full lurking danger. For some, the past should stay dead. "Alright, I'll follo-" His attention turned to the dirt grave, marked by a shoddy wooden cross. His eyes ignored the dark clouds above that Wulfrin had pointed out, and instead fixated on the cross itself. "That cross, the grave marker...It's just like..." His voice trailed off, and suddenly he was no longer following his master - it was him who was taking point. Now bound to some sort of trance, Astra walked closer to the grave, crouching down at the end of it. His eyes glazed over, and it seemed as though tears began to form - but he was fixated on the cross. His gaze remained, but he seemed distant. A wooden cross. They probably couldn't afford anything else, like me. There's probably a wooden casket underneath the dirt too. "I'm sorry, you deserved more," his voice barely a whisper. Memories could be dangerous, memories could lead you to approach a mysterious grave surrounded by dark clouds. Astra reached out his hand, and touched the wooden cross. *** Astra consumed 1x portion of Sharkcuterie Board | ACC 2 | EVA 2 | Astra | HP: 570/570 | EN: 72/72 | DMG: 18 | MIT: 54 | ACC: 7 | EVA: 2 | BH: 17 | REC: 2 | BLD: 24 Spoiler Name: Astra True Tier: 3 Level: 27 Paragon Level: 1 HP: 570/570 EN: 72/72 Stats: Damage: 18 Mitigation: 54 Accuracy: 7 Evasion: 2 Recovery: 2 Bleed: 24 Battle Healing: 17 Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - Seeker's Blade | T2 Perfect Straight Sword | DMG 2 | BLD 1 Armor/Trinket: - Seeker's Attire | T2 Perfect Light Armor | MIT 2 | REC 1 Shield/Armor/Trinket: - Initiates Draw | T1 Perfect Trinket | ACC 3 Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage - Rank 3 Combat Shift: - TECH Familiar Skill: - N/A Custom Skill: - N/A Skills: - Straight Sword R5 - Light Armor R5 Extra Skills: - Concentration Action: Free Action Cooldown: 5 Turns Effect: As a free action, gain Absolute Accuracy on your next attack.
