Simmone 0 Posted November 11 #1 Share Posted November 11 This OP is intended to be a space to tell short narrative segments between characters that are not large enough to be a thread on their own, as such its easier to get the lead out mentally and just wrap them all up in the same space. The floor is variable based on need for the story being told and is why the number for the floor is 'delta' Floor 8 - The Black Odyssey (No Mans Land) The scampering and parading of Moro and Maru work like a fresh pot of coffee, a level of motions and sounds to personify a brand new morning. Simmone sat dreary eyed and listless, staring out the window of her moving store and taking in the lush green scenery that the place had chosen to find itself settled in. A questionable thing in the fact it was not entirely stationary, adding even more mystery to the store to which she held the key. Perhaps if it sat still, she'd have the pleasure of having a bit larger of a customer base or perhaps her deliveries could be made to it instead of having to pick them up every day. But instead of getting frustrated with that front like the past, she picked her battles to those she could change. Wistfully steam dances from a white glass cup, sat upon a silver platter with a spoon at its side. A golden brown mixture settling into its bottom, as Felix slowly crawls from its own bed. Like its owner it was not ready to greet the morning. Moro scampers up as Simmone looks on, aimless and groggy. "What should I do with this, mistress?" The NPC asked in her usual cool tone, an entirely different demeanor then her partner. Simmone's eyes trace over and fixate what she held: A longer blade wide enough to almost be a paddle, black and a little mundane looking. "The cupboards full again?" Simmone asked to which Moro nods hurriedly, a couple times to cement it. "I suppose, we are really do for an expansion. Maybe something a little more.... stationary, try the shed outside." The Black cat overs her helper, to which responds in a militant salute and being whisked away of the droning of her little feet. Sam 0 Posted November 11 #2 Share Posted November 11 (edited) Wondering to the Odyssey, today what the day. It was eating her alive every time she say Simmone which was daily so even if she masked it, the little thought was always there. Simmone was the first that Sam had ever connected with in the game, worked under the woman and she even became her mentor. Always feeling like she had a connection with this woman, at one point even a crush that she never wanted to explore afraid of loosing what they had. Then fates interfered, showed her things and helped her with explaining the truth behind everything that she was feeling. Sometimes she wished that she never knew the truth but then where would that leave Sam? Would she still be broken and wallowing in tears that were never needed for a death that was just cause. It happened for a reason, if her brother never saved her that day then Sam would be dead and in the same vein Eruda would of lost her twin. The long passing days in Aincrad has taught her that it had to happen for better or worse, she just hoped that she would not loose the one person that she could truly call a friend by speaking up. A hand would begin to reach for the door before Moro rushes out with something in her hands. She was most likely heading to the shed, what the inventory already full? Washing the thought away with the shake of her head before catching to swinging door and walking through the threshold. Seeing Simmone messing with something she would give a smile but to anyone who knew how to read emotions, it looked forced, maybe even fake. "Hey" she would say as she walked past the woman with a breath that seemed crackled. "So you remember a couple months ago I told you I needed to talk to you about something?" A statement, a question, a topic starter, she would take it slow for the information was very sensitive to them both. She would get into a cabinet and pull out some wine, reach into another and grab two glasses. This was going to be rough and very much needed. "Its about your brother" she didn't look at the woman, only set the two cups on a small round table. Pulling out a chair for Simmone as she sat in the other. Popping the cork, she would pour the liquid into the glasses. "I need to tell you something but I want you to sit down before I do." Simmone would see Sam disgruntled, sad. It was going to be hard to talk about but she felt like Simmone needed to know even if she hated her after words. She would proceed on the edge of caution from this point forward. Simmone 0 Posted November 11 Author #3 Share Posted November 11 What started as a dreary day had become far more involved, as it seemed that her rather lax and absentee apprentice had actually decided to show up for work. For once. "Glad you could finally show up, Samantha." Simmone scorned with a small bite of irritation on her tone, given how aloof the girl was. "The twins can certainly use your help organizing. My bathtub is full of suits of armor." She remarked limply, reclining on her red sofa as she searched the girls expression. Something was off, obtuse about the way she was carrying herself. As if this wasn't to show up and pull her weight, a fact that didn't surprise Simmone in the slightest. A heavy sigh as she'd droop down to lay on the arm of that red velvet recliner. "I recall." She bloomed watching on as Sam started digging through the cupboards, swiping a pair of glasses and a bottle of wine. At 7:37 am, a fact checked by a slink of her eyes to check her digital clock on her peripheral. "Little early, don't you think?" But the next spoken phrase has Simmone walking on thorns, and clearly the raven haired apprentice knew she was walking a fine line. Greasing her up to prevent any sort of backlash, Simmone could easily pick out the parley. "What does anything you do have to do with my brother?" The phrase spoken in a cool bite, spoken like a compliment yet one could taste the contempt layered beneath it. Her brother was a very sore topic for her, and an even sorer scar. "I am already sitting, have you just woken up as well? Or are you blind, Sam?" Simmone was clearly already irritated to start this whole thing off. Her apprentice finally shows up, and instead of actually doing her job she had the gall to bring up someone very dear to her. Someone she had lost a long time ago, and she was only dealing with this simply because it was a bit too early to start yelling. That wine better be strong, or she was fixing to shove the girl out the door or worse. WC:
Sam 0 Posted November 11 #4 Share Posted November 11 (edited) Every word that came from Simmone's mouth was like a knife stabbing her in the chest. Not sure it was meant to feel that way but it did. After what happened with Katoka, the last thing she wanted to do was loose this friendship. If she was being honest, it was more valuable than anything that she has ever had in her entire life. "I promise this will explain why I have not been here" she would say first as she watched Simmone fold her arms waiting for something relevant to come out of this conversation being held. Having trouble trying to figure out where to start she would pour some wine into one of the cups and take a swing of it, this was harder than she thought. Setting the cup down slowly, "I might not seem like it now but I always felt like me and you had this weird connection, like I was meant to be with you. At first I thought I had a crush on you" a nervous chuckle as she felt foolish now for thinking that little tad bit. "It was your brother" she would pause and take another drink. Her chest starting feeling like it was going to explode, she hated this. She didn't want to fuck this up but it had to be done. It was part of her purging process, to get everything off her chest. If she ever wanted to come back and work with Simmone or even be able to look at her again, then she had to tell her why she was avoiding even if it hurt. "I am sure you remember the little black haired girl, the red ball" a pause to meet Simmone's eyes. Sam would reflect pain as her hands were shaking in fear of what was going to happen. "The white truck" another pause as she would take another drink. A tear would drip down her face "The grin on his face with that dead stare" her voice was now shaky and a bit more quieter than before. She would close her eyes and give them both a moment of silence. "I was that little girl" saying in a small voice as she stares into the cup. "I held onto that day everyday since then and it fucked me up. When I got older I tried for years to gain the courage to find you and your family but I never could. It hurt too much knowing that a family lost a member not because of me but being the reason why. I blamed myself for the longest time." Placing one hand on her leg and the other on the opposite arm. At this point she couldn't even look up. "Tuatha actually yelled at me through Nisahime. Told me that I was wasting the life that he gave me, my second chance at living. Told me to let it go and that he regretted nothing from that day." She still couldn't believe that he had been watching her all this time or was that Nisa or maybe both. Freya had told her all about the mirror situation so she knew that what she was saying wouldn't sound completely crazy to Simmone. "When I found out he was your brother, I couldn't face you. How could I?" A sniffle as her chest felt so tight that is was almost hard to breath. "I can only imagine what you went through but god I am so sorry." At this moment she was thinking the worst. She would come back to work but if Simmone wanted her too she would not speak to her. That was the worst option, she wanted to stay friends with the woman but it was Simmone's decision. "I would understand if you hate me now, more so for not showing up for work." That last thing was said for the simple fact that she knew there was already resentment there for that specifically. Taking another drink she would wait for the outburst that she would both deserve and not deserve. Edited Thursday at 01:58 PM by Sam
Simmone 0 Posted November 11 Author #5 Share Posted November 11 Listening on to Sam's outline with a sour expression painted across her face, Simmone wasn't exactly elated at the drudge of her history so early in the morning. Swiping the wine glass from the table in front of her, she'd down in one go like chugging a cup of water. Clapping back down on the table, a whistle sees one of the twins scamper in and pour another glass out. She was half tempted to just grab the bottle at this point. "Sure." The black cat remarks running her tongue across her teeth, holding back her irritation. Then it clicks and she leans back in her chair, folding her legs and crossing her arms. Sam shouldn't know that, it wasn't something she's shared with her before. Or hell mostly anyone. A turn of her head allows her hair to cascade down off her shoulder in a trickle. As if she were trying to decipher exactly the logistics of this situation she'd found herself in. Perking up she starts listening more intently, as Sam recounts more and more secret information as if the girl.... had... lived it. A wobble in her voice hadn't gone unnoticed, especially since Simmone was tethered to every word spoken. "Well Samantha." Simmone remarked like a mother taking another sip of her glass, but not nearly as hastily as before. "My brother, Tuatha as you all know him as. Isn't or wasn't his name when I knew him. It makes sense that he would yell at you, just like I do. You like to get sidetracked and fall into a lazy inaction. Someone has to break you out of it. My brother gave everything for you Samantha Rose. I knew I recognized you, but I didn't want to believe it. I let sleeping dogs lie. I tried to move on. Because clearly this is what my brother wanted when he did what he did. Leaving me all alone. The least I could do as his Nightingale is honor his wishes." It stung greater then any wound she'd ever bore, both in game and out. Simmone expected it to come up sooner or later, and it had been a long time coming. "I don't blame you Sam. Gabriel. His name was Gabriel, and he was always looking after me. I still remember his smile, and his way of driving me nuts. To show me that he cared. I didn't know what I would do without him, and it took a long time for me to even get out of bed in the morning. Even some days in here I cannot find the strength to get up. He would want me to get over myself, and maybe you were here for a reason. I don't know, normally I'd consider that pure coincidence. But after Nisa, I started believing that maybe there is no such thing as chance. Ironic given my profession." Another sip of her wine, she'd continue. "Ask your questions, and I will do my best to tell you want you want to know." On her face a mix of sorrow and happiness, as if a burden she'd been bearing for way too damn long had finally been lifted from her shoulders. WC:
Sam 0 Posted November 11 #6 Share Posted November 11 (edited) It was her turn to fully empty the glass, taking it and drinking the rest of the liquid. It would be refilled damn near instantly. Simmone knew all this time, she knew and said nothing. She understood why, the woman was trying to move on like he wanted. "Gabriel" repeating the name with a very small smile on the corner of her lips. "He seemed nice." This conversation did not go how Sam expected it to. It would all make sense now, why Simmone was so nice and willing to take Sam under her wing. Through her eyes it was a completely random circumstance but for Simmone with the pure notion that she knew who Sam was, it was not. Another thing that would click was her last name. She had only told one person so how did Simmone know it unless... Pulling out the platinum mirror she got from Nisa, with Simmone explaining a little bit of how it had effected her Sam would do the same in a different way. Pulling the chair closer so that she could see the reflective memory. It would show the a glimpse of the funeral with the two families and the coliseum with the plaque that Gabriel was placed in. It would skip a bit and show Sam getting into a fight that knocked a kid out at age five. Another skip as is would show Sam on a computer a little bigger in height. A few more skips but each would show the same thing, same girl, different heights as she grew older. Closing the memory down, taking another sip. "I glued myself to video games and the knowledge of computers. Figured that if I never went outside then I couldn't hurt anyone else. Lost all sense of human contact, of the real world." Taking a deep breath, all that fear was gone and out of her system. It was like something constricting was lifted off of her and she could finally breath for the first time in a very long time. "Might be why I am so difficult to handle, why I can't keep a relationship." Another sip it was becoming a bit easier to talk about this. "You did what I could not. You looked me up, I have only ever told my full name to one other." Thinking about all the questions that didn't really matter. Most were already answered just from having this conversation. "I guess the one question I have is this. Why did you chose me to be your apprentice. I was stubborn, a bit rude and unknowing. Was it because you recognized me and wanted to get to know me or..." the sentence would fall. It could be several things but the only answer the the real one, the one that Simmone would give. "I guess one other, by happenstance that you did look me up, why did you never come find me when I got older?" Those were the only two questions that were eating at her and ones that she couldn't piece meal together like a puzzle. Leaning back in her chair looking up at Simmone now, when before she could not. Taking another sip, everything was starting to be better. Simmone did not seem mad and it was even said that she was not to blame which made her happy just knowing this little point. Miki 0 Posted 1 hour ago #7 Share Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Wondering aimlessly trying to find the mysterious person that she had no name to. This was the 22nd floor that she had been on, every other floor never felt right. This one felt different, it was like when she was following that music the other day. Everything about that day was stuck in her head and questions were constantly coming. "I know our time together might be shorter then we hoped." "I know our time together might be shorter then we hoped." "But I want you to keep hope, stay happy Miki. Don't give up your dreams, and know that no matter what..." "But I want you to keep hope, stay happy Miki. Don't give up your dreams, and know that no matter what..." "When you play, I'll be there listening. Forever" "When you play, I'll be there listening. Forever" That girl, no not just any girl, Shiina Mochi. She spoke in two tones, that other voice was her mothers. How was that even possible, she was gone but somehow Miki could still feel that she was still here. Her mother wanted her to play again so that she could listen, again how. Who was this girl and this mystery person. "Where a spire of time was lost but is a stage, where tired memories and old instruments have been reduced to ruin from age. Under a myriad of prancing petals in the lands between, where all truths are made real and no lie can be seen. That is where the strings of silver have been renewed." What did this even mean, she had not a clue where this place described. The only thing that she had was a feeling, was it enough? Finding herself next to a large building, it looked like there was other smaller building linked to it. Behind it she could see nothing but fog illuminating the place. She wanted to try something, instead of trying to wrap her head around what everything should mean she was going to start relying on that feeling to guide her way. Taking a deep breath she would close her eyes and focus on her surrounding and that strong intense feeling that she was having. Still unsure what it was but somehow she knew that this was the right floor to be on. She would begin to walk with her eyes closed so see where it would lead her. Small chirping of birds, she would look in the direction, it would get louder, she would follow. After a few minutes the chirping would stop, she would hold out her hands and listen. Another second and she would feel some winds push her in a direction, she would allow nature to lead the way. After a time of walking the winds would suddenly stop as would she. Taking a deep breath, eyes still shut tight. Hearing what sounded like a woodpecker hitting a tree, she would turn her head and begin to walk again, it would become louder then completely stop. Another minute goes by and she would hear what sounded like foot steps. Her heart begins to race, that could be so many things. Another person, a critter, a monster waiting to pounce, to eat or worse kill her. Closing her eyes tighter, she had gone this far. Regardless of what would happen, she had to continue to have faith that she was going to right way, that she was doing the right thing. Taking another slow deep breath, she was scared, even shaking a bit but she would continue moving forward. Suddenly it would all stop, the foot steps the winds, the birds everything. There was nothing but pure silence. Miki was left standing there with nothing more to follow, her eyes were still closed. It was then that she would start to hum, a song that her mother sang to her every night sense she was a baby. The song that got her starting on the path of being a musician. It was her mother that allowed her to thrive, to grow, to follow her destined path. The humming echoes in the empty area around her, eyes still closed. "I love you mommy" is all she would say when the song was over. One last tear would drip down her cheek, the very last that she would ever shed. Nisahime 0 Posted 1 hour ago #8 Share Posted 1 hour ago Drifting from one place to another, that little green marker of hers sat squarely above her white haired head. A stark attire of red on her back and from just a cursory whisper a voice catches her ear. From such a simple phrase the woman wearing the appearance of something much younger would round the corner. A simple point of being at the right place at the right time it would appear. "Is a peculiar place to start declaring your love for your mother don't you think?" Nisa dropped simply breaking the newly formed silence, with a slight twist of nonchalant excitement. A tilt of her head allows her ivory hair to drift from her shoulder, despite the orange hair she sure as hell looked quite a bit like Shiina didn't she. "Miki was it?" she asks folding her arms behind her back near her waist and a little pouch that hung there, leaning to kick a stone out of her path. "Interesting little song you have there. Bet its pretty special, at least I think so." Tracing a circle in the air with her finger in a twirl, as if gesturing to all of Miki with it. Shifting her weight on her heels, she'd spin around on the ball of her foot in a quick about face. "Something I think you'd like to see, but this place wont really do will it?" Pressing her index into her chin as she stared up toward the sky as if asking the forest that question. Lowering her arms, the girl would start to walk before tilting to look over her shoulder at the shocked and confused Miki. "You coming? I got places to be, like a lot of places." Nisahime chirped with a chipper child like tone. Walking through the trees with Miki at her back, the path would seem to wind into the darker and more dangerous coverage where horrid monsters hid. All the while she walked on as the leader with moxie and determination, as if she knew precisely where she was going. Eventually they seem to lead into some clearing, where a large field of emerald green grass stared back almost in a glare. Sunlight made it glisten with morning dew, as pink petals danced harmlessly through the air like snow. If one were to turn around to leave, the forest of memories seemed to disappear entirely replaced by an endless empty field of green. Across that field all manner of instruments and tables that look weather worn and ancient sat quietly, but would be obvious that they had been renewed and repaired. On their surfaces all manner of new objects, bits and bobs littering every inch. By a girl who knew way too much, and had way too much experience doing everything. A fated chance encounter to see the precipice of all creation, where she'd be able to rediscover herself and be forged anew. From a girl who held all the cards, all for her one hand to play.
