F07-OP Yuletide Glizzies

Recommended Posts

The Oscar-Mayer Mansion was unusually festive.

Red ribbons and bows flowed over the awnings. Tinsel of silver and green wrapped around white marble pillars. Lights glimmered in the twilight - stars shining before dusk. In the central courtyard stood a mighty fir tree. Dozens of feet tall, decorated with ornaments and bows and lights that were set to give the appearance of cascading starlight - from tip to trunk. A thin dusting of snow had fallen upon the property. Just enough to grace it all in a silver embrace.

His guests would find themselves greeted at the exit of the town of Deepedge. Carriages drawn by white horses await them, parked in a line that wrapped around the boundary of the settlement. There too, silvery snow fell. There and all the way up the path to Oscar's home. His guests would not be expected to trek up the treacherous mountain paths in the failing light. And he would be personally offended if they chose to do so.

The host mills about the foyer. Garbed in an ugly red reindeer sweater and slippers and a santa hat. A rarity for him to be so dressed down. But this was not the time for dramatics. Only closeness and friendship.

Within the manor, fires burn brightly in their hearths. Platters heavy-laden with food and drink are placed in every room. The dining room has been converted into a banquet hall. A feast fit for a king his arrayed upon the table. Though most of it is taken up by the <<Dragon Wellington>> - made from the meat of the Shadow Dragon Matriarch - resting upon the center. This is a time for good company, warmth and friendship. To give thanks for another year of survival and to look toward the future.

With the hearts you've touched.

With the friends you've made.

And with the stalwart allies at your back.

Somehow, it was nicer than having it on the 4th floor, having it on the seventh was so very....Oscar. The snowy terrain of the 4th would have been easy - but the man didn't do easy. He demanded perfection. Satisfaction.

Mari wasn't really one for Christmas festivities.... the last time she joined one was shortly before her incarceration - she was left abandoned, crying in the snow from a man who had once claimed to love her only to have told her they were naught but false platitudes. A simple desire to build a snowman turned into a painful memory. The painful memory turned into a lesson. Nothing more, nothing less. The last few years she spent in a cold, dark cell. Were there other events like this? Had she missed out on them? Mari inhaled the cold mountain air. Crisp and fresh - a far cry from the acetone laden air from her workshop.

#pre meeting Oscar filler here when I am not in a meeting will not affect any replies. Smoochies.

Mari approached the man, perhaps one of her only close friends within all of Aincrad. How he managed to earn that title, the woman wasn't entirely sure - but was more than happy to let him lay claim to it.

"Oscar..." A hand on his upper arm, and a tight squeeze as she approached him from behind. Mari greeted him with a small smile, the kind of one she always wore when she was a little nervous - never one to deal with these sort of events well. Cerulean eyes glanced up at a mistletoe that hung on one of the many awnings that littered his courtyard, surrounded by green tinsel, dappled with splashes of silver, just above their heads. She snorted, and couldn't help but laugh. She gestured toward it with a slight tilt of her head. "Suppose we've already been there, done that, huh?" Still. Mari stood on her tip toes, using her grip on his arm to pull him down, just enough for her to press her lips to his cheek. An affectionate sign of friendship, nothing more - and never any less. The host standing beneath a well placed sprig of mistletoe...it was oh so very Oscar.

A step to his side as Mari overlooked the area. "If it weren't you inviting me - I would not have come, but somehow...I always end up enjoying your events."

The expansive courtyard had been adorned with tinsel, ribbons, bows - and all manner of Christmas styled decorations. What amazed Mari most, perhaps - was the giant ass Fir tree, she had to crane her neck to see it, even then the woman wasn't sure she could quite see the top of it. "I would have loved to have seen you try to transport this thing here." She said in a whispered sense of awe. The thing was massive, and looked like it had been adorned with the stars themselves. Snow touched its thin branches in a silken thin sheet. There was a smell in the air, woodsy, fresh, and almost sweet. Mari had to guess it was from the tree. There was also the distinct hint of smoke in the air but she was not sure where from.

"You know....you can always ask for my help when it comes to these sort of things..." A reminder for him, although she knew he would never accept. Mari brushed down her outfit - feeling a little under-dressed. She hadn't thought to change up her regular attire. She loosened her tattered black scarf. Such an old and worn thing. Nothing more than shorts, dirtied boots...and an orange tank top. "Uhm....So - what's the attire for today? I'm not sure I really have much..." She mumbled, opening up her inventory, not caring what Oscar saw  if he were to glance over her shoulder. She trusted him enough. "Hmmm....I really don't have many clothes..." One of the drawbacks of being a marked player.  Mari had found redemption, and salvation in her own unique way.

It was a shame the game did not have the same views.
