[SP-F2] A Mystical Calling

Recommended Posts

The dust storm of a monster whipped out at him, slapping him harshly on his right bicep. Garou flinched from the impact, expecting the strike to do more damage. This must be like a mini-boss or something... The weather got colder as rain began to fall while the swirling dust swept past the boy, facing his left side.

Garou was getting madder by his ineffective tactics, noticing that his attacks did less work on the monster than the blows on him. He ran up the ascending path, still quite far off from the peak. It had to be at least another half hour to reach it from where he was. The Lost Wraith shot like a bullet at him, hitting the back of his back and causing the boy to fall flat on his face. The rocky path was craggy, painful, cold, and wet. Garou pushed himself slowly back to his feet as his muscles squirmed for more virtual oxygen. It was a shame he was at an impossible altitude.

The boy saw the laughing, ugly face of the dust swarm veer back down towards him, charging like a bull that had saw red. Garou held up his sword again, hoping to separate the monster like before. The icy rain began to pick up, become less of a sprinkle and more of a steady falling. The monster averted to Garou's right side, but the sting of the cold rain forced his body to wake up and slash down on the speeding undead mass.

The monster spread out before reforming at a lightning quick tempo, spreading and crashing towards Garou like a wave. The chained lad gave a weak swing out but spread a nice gap in the dust, giving his a safe spot as the nearly microscopic decaying debris splashed around him.

His head was pounding, his grip was becoming sweaty, and his confidence was dwindling. Garou tried his best to relax himself and slash at the Lost Wraith again, but the attempt was all for shame. His sword fell limp as the beast reformed and charged into him, knocking his sword almost off the edge of the mountain and leaving the boy on his back.

Garou looked up at the monster swooping through the mist, vanishing from sight one instance the reappearing the next. As the rain became a near freezing downpour, the mist thickened hellishly. The injured boy got up in a crouched position as he rubbed his back, spotting another silhouette higher up the mountain in the mist. Please, God, not more zombies, Garou mentally groaned.

The distant black figure appeared to snap its fingers and bow to him. "Come on, Yon. Take the chains off for a spell. You need the energy for this battle." In Garou's pain he thought he remembered the voice, but his consciousness swam around the fact the figure had called the boy by his real name. Garou took off his white gloves slowly and set the chains to the side as he slowly rose to his feet.

The dust monster was swirling towards him from behind in a flash, but Garou delivered a roundhouse kick so fast that it was almost a simple blur of motion. The thing took damage, but it simply reformed its mass. He needed a new tactic if he was going to beat this thing.

Garou struck out with a balled fist at thin air, miraculously slamming it into the dusty monster as it swooped by. Though the fog and ever-increasing rain crippled his visual stimulation, he could still hear the whooshing of the Lost Wraith. Garou heard more swoops, leaping backwards to dodge each one.

The strapping lad took one last quick but long leap back, landing roughly on his right foot which served as his weight-holder. Garou slid the foot forward to perform a high kick, but he slipped on something it had landed on. His own chains! The boy fell on back as the monster whipped violently at his face.

Garou kipped back onto his feet, glaring out at where the thought the boss (it seemed to be one) was. He danced on his toes as he awaited the moment to strike. He karate chopped the air in front of him, missing the monster entirely. It steamed up at him like a freight train, rushing into the boy's face. The dust seeped into his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, choking the life out of him. "GAAAAAH-!!!" He coughed and hacked on the nasty rot inside of him, trying to blink it out of his eyes. The monster's entire body was forcing into Garou's body, which was soon becoming a corpse itself.

The boy fell to the ground in agony past what he had ever felt, like pure death coarsing through his body. He belonged to Aincrad now, the meaning of Hell. As he writhed in pain, something happened inside of him. He saw a familiar light, bursting with comfort. Garou's body rose as the dust continue to move into his system.

The warmth of the light in Garou's imagination fused with hatred for the creature. The specks of dust, not fit to exist in this world, not any world. It was destined to die. Garou opened his mouth shakily, letting dust pour out of his jaw onto the wet rocky path of the mountain. "PRIMUS SIGILLUM, RUINA! (FIRST SEAL, FALL!) First Fang of Singularity, unleash!!!" Garou flayed his arms out, and the universe once again became his.

Purple rays of energy shot out of every little orifice on his head, forcing any trust of dust to exit his body. The energy turned into an aura that shrouded him, his hands twitching in anticipation. A plasma tentacle protruded from the aura, an extension he referred to as a Fang. It whipped back and forth jerkily, almost seeming unreal. The boy was still in pain from the dust, choking up red neon that was SAO's version of blood.

The glowing boy didn't hesitate a moment longer. He leaped forward and swung out with a fresh karate chop, the purple haze blazing with his strike. He missed in his blind anger, but the tail of his wisp slapped the beast in the face. The Lost Wraith's face contorted in pain, rushing the boy anyway and ramming into his stomach. Garou took the damage with flinching or receiving pain, watching his life bar diminish slightly in rage.

The lad dodged the Lost Wraith as it gathered itself and burst towards him. Garou replied to its attack attempt with a smooth roundhouse kick that jarred itself into the beast's mockery of a skull. His purple aura surged around his leg and foot, causing his raw energy to do work on the dust monster. Flecks of plasma strung itself through the dust, deleting the particles of the monster until it flew away off the side of the mountain.

Garou began taking unsteady deep breaths, his aura of power dwindling as the Fang slowly shrunk back into the rest of the energy field. Suddenly the werewolf heard a violent shriek, turning his head as he struggled to make out a shape in the mist. The dust monster was racing back towards the mountainside, forming a claw instead of a deceased face. Garou growled in anger, forcing his aura to burst back to life, his Fang waggling back out. The boy somersaulted in mid-air closer to the mountain and stooped down to grab his two-handed longsword. Garou then turned to meet the Lost Wraith, being slashed by the monster across his chest. The blow almost ripped the fabric of his Victorian suit.

He stumbled back in pain, slamming his fist back onto the dusty creature in retaliation with a grunt. The dust flowed away from his hand and began to encase it, but Garou channeled the purple plasma into his fingers and formed a claw of energy. The boy tore his hand away with a snarl before sidestepping away from a vortex of projected dust.

I just have to keep pushing, Garou told himself. He swiveled back and forth to avoid more propulsions of dust, charging more energy into his hand. He swung his blade at the dust, but his energy suddenly quit before he fully delivered the attack. Garou's Fang sunk away into his fading aura. The dust swept across the sword and traveled down his arm, the strain of it bruising his virtual body as he desperately tried to shake it all off.

Garou recoiled from the dust swarm violently as his health bar's remaining gauge turned red. But I don't want to die! Not here! Why now, on top of a mountain where no one can even hear me scream!? Garou lashed outwards like a crippled old man with Heaven's Beam, barely able to move his arms properly. A spike of purple plasma tore out of the sword as it made contact with the boss, actually causing damage. Please. Give me more power. I need MORE POWER!

He felt pain burning under his ribs on his right side. Garou swung his sword again, or at least tried to. He finally looked down after failing to attack to see the boss of dust drilling into his virtual body. His voice croaked as he raised his head towards the close sky, beginning to shed tears of agony.

Garou tried to turn away from it all. He wanted to bring his body to the edge of the cliff and throw himself off into oblivion. Then suddenly the boy finally remembered. What the hell am I doing? This is just a game... The agony on his soon quickly faded into a fuzzy, warm tingling as he raised Heaven's Beam high. He slammed down with its flat end, purple energy pouring out off its edge almost like steam. The Lost Wraith slowly drifted away from him, obviously not enjoying the attacks.
