(OP-F1) A Round of Darts

Recommended Posts

Arekkusu had his sword held up sideways. He planned throw it like a spear at a tree in front of him. He carved a target with the sword, he was training himself to hit things a bit better. He was about 10 feet away from the tree, the marks making it easier to see the target. Arekkusus muscles were loose, so he was ready to strike at the tree. He threw the sword awkwardly and with a bit too much force, causing it to fly past the tree and out of side. Arekkusu then heard a sound of liquid.

"Oh... No..." Arekkusu thought the worst happened already. He ran over to the sword he threw to see where it had landed... in a puddle of mud. It wasn't what he thought it was, blood to be exact. He thought he struck at someone accidentally. "That's a relief..."

Arekkusu gripped his blade and pulled it back up from the ground, the mud dripping as the blade was raised. He couldn't aim for his life, which is literally true. He planned to take out enemies with his hits, but how can he do that while he had the aim of a child?

He walked back to where he had started, this was his fifth attempt, and even with the many other trees around, not even one was struck. If Arekkusu wanted to hit a bullseye, he would need a miracle.

Sousuke watched as a friend of his was throwing his sword at a tree completely amused by the misses he was demonstrating. They were spectacular to say the least and he was only 10 feet away Sousuke was around 30 feet away Hidden in the tree line. He lit a cigarette and stepped forward into the open to about 25 feet away. He held his Red bladed sword between his Thumb and index finger and launched the blade from where he was standing scoring a perfect bullseye from 25 feet. ''Is that what you were trying to do kid?'' he called across the clearing.

Arekkusu looked above in the trees where he saw the sword hit the tree. It was odd for something to be spying on him, especially considering that it was Arekkusu who normally looked at people from the high areas without them even noticing him. He then saw someone familiar up in the trees, and his voice was rather taunting. Arekkusu could understand a joke and decided to go along with it.

"I hate you so much Sousuke." Arekkusu said above as he recognized his friend. It was great to see him again, but he seemed alone, what happened to the girl he was with? M..Manta he believed her name was. He could ask later. instead, why not just carry out a normal conversation? "I was just... uh... seeing how far I cuold throw! Yeah, that's all!"

Arekkusu then realized what he said was stupid. The distances he have thrown the sword weren't that great, even for a 14 year old. What excuse did he have for that? Well... he didn't have one.

Sousuke shook his head and approached his friend laughing. He was trying pass what Sousuke had said as a bit of a joke and Sousuke saw right through his ploy.

''Haha look man let me show how to do it, just watch carefully.'' he said as he pulled his sword out of the tree and stood next to him.

''Its not a ball its like a spear with more weight at the back, hold it like one near the guard and arch your back and follow through with your whole body.'' he said as he scored another bullseye.

Arekkusu remembered the arch your back part, but he couldn't recall the first part. Something about it being like a ball? That didn't sound too useful, but it was all Arekkusu could interpret. So Arekkusu gripped the blade steadily from the front, he bent his back a little from its all the way straight position, but he still stood in a somewhat straight position. He then threw the blade at the target, but the sword still flew past the tree. Arekkusu didn't blame his friend, Arekkusu couldn't put all the pieces of what Sousuke said together, and this just so happened to be the result... which is sad.

"Damn it."Arekkusu said as he walked to retrieve his sword from the ground. He needed to remember what Sousuke said.

Arekkusu nodded his head. He liked watching the Olympics, but only because of an incident that happened during the hammer throw. It wasn't pretty to watch, and that man was still at the hospital. Nevertheless, the Olympics were pretty cool to Arekkusu once he began watching it. He ignored the Javelin throw though, he found it rather boring to watch. The odds really were stacked against the both of them heavily, lets see if they can get any less lucky than that.

Arekkusu tossed the sword in the air with it spinning so he could catch it by its blade. Then he threw the blade forward with the blade spinning. The trees bark was hit this time, but the sword still flew past the tree. At least he was getting some distance into the center, but it wasn't a direct hit, not even close. At least he sent the sword pretty far. Arekkusu looked at the on the ground, then walked over to pick it up. At least some form of improvment was made, not all of it, but some.
