Seemingly out of nowhere, a wasp had flown straight at Azide, and to its credit, actually managed to land a decent hit on him. Of course, the male player was no pushover, and thus the creature's had barely managed to pierce his leather armor. This, in turn, ensured that any damage it could cause would be minimized. Intending to dole out swift retribution, Azide swung his rapier at the creature brazenly, only to miss after it'd flown out of his reach. "A small turn of events now and then keeps everyone honest, I suppose."

The creature made a sudden sharp turn mid-air, then began rocketing in his direction once more. It demonstrated a high degree of aerial mobility and maneuverability, managing to evade the player's blade as it entered the range of his weapon, before delivering a precise hit to the center-right of his chest. Azide felt a prick against his skin, which stung as expected, but was quite a far cry from the stabbing feeling he'd have felt had it not been for his armor. He winced and clenched his fingers, but knew there was no real harm done, and that the pain would soon subside. "You're going to have to do a lot better than that, wasp."

Another swing, another miss. Fortunately, however, his flying counterpart didn't seem to be doing much better. "And suddenly, the statistics have caught up to me, slowing my momentum to a snail's pace. Wonderful." This wasp seemed to be at least a bit more skillful than its mindless brethren. "Perhaps it's been around here longer without being killed," he mused. In any case, it'd managed to skillfully dodge his strike, although had also missed its own by a large margin.

This time, as the creature once again plunged its stinger as deeply as possible into his chest (which is to say, not very), Azide returned the favor by lodging Quantum Slicer through its head. Simultaneously throwing the creature off and withdrawing his sword, he could see that the attack had healed him of the damage he'd taken from the maneuver. "You've put up a better fight than your brethren, that's for sure. But it won't be long now. Go peacefully, and this will all be over soon."

Azide charged forward, dodging a weak effort from his target to sting him, then let the steel of his blade tear through the flying creature. Slicing through its body with ease, his sword soon came out through the other side, bisecting the wasp completely. It shattered, leaving behind nothing but a bit of material that he'd promptly sent to his inventory. "Even the mighty has fallen. Let this be a teaching moment, wasps." That little scuffle had wasted a bit of time, but he'd simply have to make do. It wasn't as if the queen seemed to be arriving anytime soon.

Noticing the hollow of a tree right next to him, Azide stopped to peer inside, but failed to see anything of significance. "It's a little dark in here," he thought. He'd considered reaching inside with his hand, but quickly dismissed the thought, on account of how reckless it'd be. He settled with simply leaving it be as it was, and continued toward another wasp- one of many. "At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if every wasp I killed just spawned another one in the swarm."

Again came a wasp, although its sudden appearance came with no surprise by this point. Azide was, after all, standing right next to a swarm of them. In any case, the critter did, in fact, manage to hit him. It would've been a cause for concern, had it not been for the armor which covered the vast majority of his vitals. As such, he suffered only a minor injury, and dealt a rather crippling one in return. "Not quite an eye for an eye," thought Azide, watching the creature plummet towards the ground. He'd slashed at it before it could escape his reach, and consequently, suffered for it. "But sometimes, you just need to learn your lesson the first time around."

Narrowly dodging the wasp's stinger the second time time around, Azide seized his chance to bring the encounter to a swift end. "This is the best possible option for the two of us," he thought, binging his blade down and slicing the creature in two. It shattered, as expected, just as the rest of them had. It left behind nothing special, but he still appreciated the materials he'd gained in the process. "Always needing to resupply at the shop," he thought. Gaining enough would free him up from the relentless cycle of gathering materials. In any case, he moved on, having finished up with this particular foe.

On his way over to another unsuspecting wasp, Azide nearly stumbled over beehive. He stooped over and picked the structure up, fairly sure that no bees would come flying out. "Bees in this world tend to be rather large and noticeable," he reflected. "If anything, I can at least be glad that anything that causes damage in this world can usually be spotted fairly easily." He turned it around and held the hive with both hands, then gave his find a thorough inspection. After a few moments, he was able to extract a small section of honeycomb that still contained honey. Keeping the comb attached, he broke it off from the old hive and sent the material to his inventory, then tossed the hive off to the side where it shattered into vanishing particles. "Well, I suppose this makes up for that empty tree hollow. But back to business."

After managing to sneak up directly behind another one of the wasps, Azide brought his sword crashing down on the hovering creature, hearing the crunch of its exoskeleton as his blade cracked through its body. What he hadn't been expecting, however, was for the creature to regain its composure relatively quickly. Taking advantage of the player's surprise, the wasp quickly charged forward and plunged its stinger into the player's chest, but dealt minimal damage due to the armor protecting it. "God damn, how many times am I going to get stung in the same spot today?" he wondered. At the very least, he could be glad that it'd kept him safe so far. He felt the pain subside, and watched as his health bar returned to its prior position, having drained back some health from his earlier strike.

The two combatants charged at each other once again, albeit this time the results of their clash were significantly less theatrical. The wasp had attempted to sting him yet again (how original), but missed by an almost comedic margin. Although in hindsight, that was hardly a fair point to make, as Azide's swing had been nearly as far off. "It's as if I missed that thing by an entire football field's length," he thought. He was, of course, referring to soccer, rather than the football of his American counterparts. "In any case, I can't help but feel as if my luck has significantly begun to decline recently. Or maybe I'm just getting worse at this whole swordsmanship thing."

Having enough with this little blight on his record today, Azide rushed forward at the creature, wasting no time any flashy or even particularly calculated maneuvers. He took a bite from the creature's deceivingly powerful little jaws, but didn't allow it to get the better of him. Instead, he simply skewered the creature on the end of his blade, running Quantum Slicer clean through it. The resulting successful hit shattered the pest, allowing both of them to move on, albeit one had been rather short-changed by the arrangement. Regardless, Azide took the small amount of col that the creature had left him, along with the bead of honey it'd left behind. "Thanks for the donation."

This time, it was Azide that made the first move, deciding he'd rather avoid being the victim of any further attacks. With a target in his sights, he rushed forward and evaded the barged hook of a hovering wasp's stinger, then thrusted his rapier forward. His blade pierced through its tough exterior, plunging through the creature with ease. "Right on the mark," thought Azide. He yanked the blade of the creature, knowing it'd still take another blow to finish off the poor sap. "You're already dead, you just haven't realized it yet."

As he rushed to deliver the finishing blow, the wasp quickly turned mid-flight, then hooked its barb of a stinger into his off-arm. The attack caused him slight injury, but not nearly enough to put a halt to his advance. With the wasp still acting as a thorn in his side, he impaled the weakened creature without prejudice, vanquishing the creature instantly. As it shattered and disappeared into the air, the burning sensation faded away from his arm. In addition, he was also pleased to find a small sum of col, as well as honey left behind by the felled wasp.

"How many wasps has that been?" he wondered. He glanced around, but still saw no sign of any queen of any sort. "Maybe one more will finally draw her attention." And with that, he locked eyes with a wasp far off in the distance, then made a mad dash towards the creature. As it came throttling forward, it managed to slip into the player's bubble, evading his initial swings. Placing itself in an advantageous position, the creature stabbed at his heart, but found a similar degree of success to the countless other wasps that had tried that very same maneuver. Temporarily rendered immobile by the barbed stinger lodged into its target, it was left completely vulnerable by a counterattack, which did not go unnoticed by Azide. He stabbed the thing through the thorax with his blade, then pushed it off and withdrew his blade.

The creature made a quick recovery and proceeded to jab at him with its stinger once again, missing by a good mile. Attempting to right its wrong, it attempted a slightly less overused approach and flew at the player headfirst, attempting to bite him with its disproportionately powerful pincer-like jaws. This missed as well, however, costing the wasp its life. It was swiftly sliced into two, shattered on impact and leaving behind a bit of honey and col. These materials were then gathered by Azide, who heard now heard a much louder buzzing appear in the background. He turned around. "Has my genocide finally paid off?"

In front of him, hovering amongst the diminished swarm, stood the Wind Wasp Queen in all her glory. Azide yawned. "You look much less intimidating in person, your highness. Also, you're about a billion fallen wind wasps late. What's with that?" He pointed his sword at her. "In any case, consider me your usurper." He thought about the implications of this statement for a moment, then shook his head. "Actually, I don't want to be royalty to a bunch of wasps. Just consider this an assassination." And with that, he charged forward at his newly appeared foe.

The Queen sent wasp after wasp hurtling themselves after him, only for each and every one of those loyal subjects to either be evaded or sliced out of the air. She was a much larger and more imposing enemy than any of the wasps he'd faced, and yet that only made her a larger target. Sure, she buzzed menacingly, but then again, she was literally just a large wasp.

After making it through the onslaught of drones, Azide appeared in front of the Queen herself, slashing Quantun Slicer cleanly through her thorax before making a dashing retreat. "You might want to reconsider using drone warfare, your highness. That's quite controversial nowadays."

Wishing to maintain his momentum, Azide darted towards the Queen once more, staying light on his feet. After managing to dodge the hoard of wasps sent in his direction, he prepared to stab through the Queen's heart itself, only to be knocked aside by a wasp that had escaped his view. He scrambled back to his feet and regained his footing before any damage could be done, and yet a perfectly good chance of striking had gone to waste. "Damn it, you're more of a royal buzzkill than anything."

Not letting the slight downturn in momentum shake him, Azide took off towards the Wasp Queen once more, slicing and slashing every wasp that came his way out of the air. "It's like they're being remote controlled, almost. Throwing their lives away for their Queen? The very idea of such a thing." As far as he was concerned, he was merely freeing them from her control. That, and also performing some pest control at the same time. It was like multitasking. In any case, he made it past the swarm with a few close calls, but no damage done. With the chance to strike at the Queen once more, he thrusted Quantum Slicer upward as if were a lance, impaling the giant wasp at the end of his sword. He drew it back, having hit his target, then made a temporary retreat.

Making sure to stay within sprinting range, Azide found himself within relatively close combat against the Queen herself. He dashed forward across the short distance that stood between them, then deflected her stinger with the flat of his blade, then thrusted it through her thorax once again. "I'm fairly sure that insects don't have hearts, and that she likely doesn't have a heart where I'm stabbing, but I feel as if this should be doing something." Satisfied by the resulting plummet in his enemy's health bar, he drew his blade out of the overgrown wasp, then stepped back. "Just one more clean blow. Nothing fancy, and I'll be able to finally go home," he thought. He was getting sick of killing wasps all day.
