Before long, they'd stepped from out of the narrow passage, giving Azide his much-appreciated elbow room. "Looks like we're just about home free," he said, looking down at Hikari. From here, they'd simply go through the entrance he'd taken to reach the original cavern he'd first entered from, then exit the cave system altogether. After that, it'd be smooth sailing for there. "Well, we'd still have to make our way back to her mother, though I don't see nearly as many potential problems with that as I do with staying here any longer."

Unfortunately, staying there just a little longer was exactly what would happen. Any cause for celebration would have to be postponed, due to the unwelcome appearance of a second Giant Bat. It descended from the lofty and shadowy heights of the cavernous roof, making its presence known through the beating of heavy wings.

Azide motioned for Hikari to move somewhere safer, then drew his rapier from its sheath. After hearing the girl run off, he began running straight at this final obstacle, trading blows with the flying beast. It'd grabbed him with its taloned feet, digging its claws into his body, but took a slash directly to its soft underside in the process. This caused its hold on the player to falter, letting him drop to the ground.

Azide hit the ground with a thud, but quickly picked himself back up. After a bit of healing via his equipment and skill, he'd proven to be no worse for wear after a quick glance at his health bar. Still, he found himself somewhat irritated at the giant creature for picking him up like that. He tightened his grip on Quantum Slicer, then charged forward, dodging the creature's lashing tongue and beating wings on the way. Once he'd come close enough, he leapt up and slashed through the creature's wing, leaving behind a glowing red gash that soon faded away, though the damage he'd done would last. He watched as its health bar dropped another notch.

The creature's hover faltered, and the beating of its wings grew fainter and weaker. Perhaps not to a degree where either was obvious, but it was certainly noticeable to Azide, who'd been closely observing the beast throughout their fight. "This is my chance to stop this fight from stalling any longer," he thought to himself. He looked over his shoulder and spotted Hikari, hiding behind a stalagmite, then turned back to the dying creature before him. He ran at the creature once more, rolling out of the way as it sped toward him, moving quite quickly with the help of its powerful wings. Now positioned behind the creature, he quickly darted over and leapt high into the air before driving the entirety of his blade into its underside. The creature shattered completely, leaving behind nothing but a bit of crafting material. He landed on the other side of where the beast would have fallen, then sheathed his sword and caught his breath. He deposited the material in his inventory.

"You can come out now, Hikari," he called. He was greeted with much fanfare, and the girl was quite impressed and amused by the battle. In fact, he couldn't hear the end of it, and she rambled on about the experience while they exited the cave and continued to do so for the entirety of their return trip.

"That's enough light for one day," he thought, waving goodbye to Hikari and her mother. Behind them was the setting sun. Soon it would be night, and he'd finally get a bit of rest. He set off for the teleporter, eager to leave behind all of the bats and caves.
