The boar went down as Calrex's axe kick had hit it's mark. The boar was sent flying before bursting into tiny slivers of crystal. This hunting thing was getting easier by the kill, the scowl that had plagued his face was instead replaced by a smirk as this marked his first monster kill that he himself helped with. The screen opened up revealing another 'congratulations', again displaying another amount of experience point's gained Riksis heald the screen to Warnik, "Let's split the col down the middle and you can have the material."

Warnik watched as Calrex managed to unleash an impressive axe kick, and uppercut combination. Calrex was beginning to look like some character in a fighting game, and because of that Warnik couldn't help but chuckle. He let go of the frustration had earlier due to the strange mental image. He brought up the mace to his shoulder and rested the blunt weapon.

They defeated the boar without much problems. When he received the experience points from the battle, a notification showed up in front of him. "Congratulations." it said in addition to some new information about Warnik leveling up from level 2 to 3. He hoped that the battles would start to get easier, and was eager to get into another one.

Riksis stopped him momentarily, by saying that he should take the material that had dropped from the boar they defeated. "You sure?" Warnik asked, but reminded himself that he would need these materials should he ever get into a crafting profession. He quickly opened up the menu, and collected the drop.

"All right, but you're getting the next one." he told him, as he started looking around. He saw some more boars in the distance, and pointed them out to his party members with a finger. "Which one's next?"

After the two divided up the loot from the monster Calrex gave a nod as he did a quick check on their health. It looked like both had taken hits from the boar, but so far they were doing alright. Calrex looked around the area and noticed a few more boars further down, "Let's go ahead and engage another one. Don't worry, I'm keeping tabs on your health, so depending on how this battle goes we'll see if we should head back to the city and recover or continue on a few more."

He gave his arms a couple of stretches to keep them loose as he nodded over to Riksis and Warnik before he rushed in and threw a fist at one of the boars. As he did he saw it weave to the side, turning to face him. As he passed by the boar's tusk managed to graze his arm as he quickly turned around and focused on it. "Alright, a light hit. That's fine. Let's see how the other two do."

Battle:8

Riksis felt good hunting with his two teammates, he had grown a level and had made alot of progress to level grinding and getting better gear. Although none of the boars as of yet had dropped anything of value besides a bit of col, he had  heard they dropped equipment before. There was only one way to find out. Calrex had already made his attempt at hitting the boar which it had dodged. The boar was now facing Calrex, Riksis would try and flank it. Running to it's side he would jump and plunge the spear into the boars side. He would then kick back and send the boar reeling the opposite way. Riksis would then land, reading for another attack.

Battle Die 7

Warnik was beginning to feel more confident with his abilities, despite losing a little HP earlier. He watched as the other players made their moves. Calrex missed his attacks, and had gotten damaged by the boar they were fighting, but Riksis managed to land a hit with his spear while it was distracted. Following the other player's initiative, he gripped the mace tightly in his hands and swung towards the boar right after Riksis was finished with it. The weapon collided with the boar's side, after Riksis kicked it. Warnik's attack wasn't an impressive hit, but he was content that his attack did some damage nonetheless.

"The fight's going good so far." he noted, as he jumped back to a safe distance. Warnik positioned himself away from his party members, so that they surrounded the boar on all sides.

As both Riksis and Warnik connected their strikes Calrex gave a encouraging smirk as he watched the boar's movements. It looked like has changed its target to Riksis as it tried to rush charge at him. Fortunately enough the boar seemed to have been dazed by the two's previous strikes and was far off target as it passed by Riksis at least a foot to the side. As he tried to come around Calrex tried using a sweeping kick to connect a strike, but the boar stepped out of range.

"At the least they're getting hits at the moment. It looks like I might need a boost to my range."

He stepped back a few paces as he reached behind him, grasping his Anneal Blade, moving into his modified iaido stance, "Once my turn comes around again I'll draw my blade."

Battle: 10 (Critical, +2 damage=4 total)

The boar was still fuming from Riksis' savage attack earlier, that and still dazed. The boar charged at him, seeking to gore the player on it's horns. Riksis side stepped, unleashing a flurry of stabs and prods to the boars unprotected hide. The last attack struck it's right foreleg, sending it head over hooves to the ground. He was starting to get the hand of battle more and more as he continued to fight. The more he did it the more he liked it, the adrenaline pulsing through his virtual body. He raised his spear, leveled with his head, this battle was almost over. Almost time to pick another.

The boar was taken down by Riksis, but it wasn't defeated yet. In an attempt to finish it off, Warnik quickly approached the boar, and lifted his mace high above his head, but he took too long to deliver the finishing blow and missed. The boar managed to roll out of the way, causing Warnik to hit nothing but the ground below. He quickly raised his weapon again, and backed away from the boar, as it began thrashing about.

"Damn it!" he cursed. Disappointment rung in his voice. Riksis practically gift wrapped that boar for him, but his swing missed something that wasn't even on it's feet. He gritted his teeth, as the battle continued.

Calrex took note as Riksis managed to score a strong hit on the boar, while Warnik unfortunately got the short end of the stick as the boar fell over, accidentally dodging his blow. As his turn came up he rushed forward, ready to strike. As he did however he had a strange thing occur. He tried to draw his sword from its sheath, but it seemed like the sword didn't want to be drawn.

"Oh come on are you kidding? Somehow the lock won't unlock!"

As Calrex tried to get his sword drawn the boar got back to its feet, trying to select Warnik as its next target. As it tried to rush forward, but the blow that Riksis had managed to deal to its leg hindered its ability to move as it teetered to the side, completely missing Warnik.

"Alright, well it looks like this battle is going to be more troublesome than I thought..."

After finally some more struggling Calrex's sword came loose. Apparently the sheath had gotten caught on his jacket, increasing the tightness to the point that sword got accidentally stuck. He gave a couple of calming sighs as he focused on the boar, "Alright, if they don't manage to take it down by the time I'm up again I'll try to finish it."

Battle: 7

Loot: 20

Gained:

5x20= 100 col

1 material

one uncommon item (Going to be a shield in my case)

Calrex filed to deliver the fatal blow, his sword failing to open. A boon more than a hindrance to Riksis, the player who dealt the finishing blow always got better loot. The boar tried it's hardest to charge Warnik as it's final target, intent to dish out at least some damage before it's fall. The boar missed it's mark and fell on it's side, squirming and screeching. Riksis walked up to the boar and slid his spear through the boars throat, stopping it's movements within seconds as it burst into crystals. Again the loot screen came up, offering another level up with 100 col and one material which Rikisis took. But along with the loot, something else popped up, a shield icon appeared under the 'weapons' loot tab. Clicking on it revealed the shield's name, 'Boar bone shield', an uncommon item. Clicking on it once again gave it's description, stats, and a picture of it. It contained a +1 of damage mitigation, described as: "A shield fashioned from the bones of boars. This stout shield is used by hunters of the plains to protect them from the boar's savage tusks." The picture showed multiple bones, a lot of them tusks, fused together to created an aged bone shield. The bones where a light brown, denoting their age. Riksis took the loot and equipped his new item. The shield appeared on his arm, protecting from his knees to the bottom of his chin.

After Warnik dodged the boar's charge, he grimaced as Riksis finished off the monster. Apparently, Calrex had a little wardrobe malfunction as he tried to draw his sword, giving the other player a chance to finish the beast. He watched the boar explode into blue crystals, and he stood by as the trio gathered the loot that it dropped. Some col, and in Riksis's case, a shield that looked to be made of bones. It looked impressive, and was quite large for a shield that dropped from the minor mobs that wandered around Floor 1.

"That thing's insane." Warnik said, looking down towards his companion's new form of self-defense. He frowned, and disappointment could be seen in his eyes upon realizing that he could have gotten his hands on a drop if he didn't miss that boar, and finished it off earlier. He was somewhat jealous of Riksis;s luck, briefly wondering if he could find something similar if they kept on hunting. After scratching his head and examining the shield, he quickly turned around, and was determined to get something for himself as well.

"Come on, pick a target out already." He grunted. Warnik brought up the heavy mace in his hands, and gripped it tightly, waiting for his companions to find another boar to take down.

As Riksis successfully finished off the boar Calrex gave a nod of agreement as the creature dissipated into a series of crystals, "Nice work guys."

As Riksis checked apparently he had received a shield as part of his drop, immediately equipping it.

"So Riksis appears to be a blending of attack and defense for his fighting style, at least going from his eagerness to equip it. Of course that could be also simply because it's a new item for all I know."

He looked over, seeing Warnik's disappointment at seeing Riksis' shield.

"Come on, pick a target out already."

With that Calrex went over, giving Warnik a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "Don't worry about those drops. They're few and far between. And for the most part it's very hard to get stronger items than what Riksis just got. You're both better off later on getting items commissioned by shops than hoping to find items. in the field"

With that Calrex stretched his arms, looking back at the two players, "Nonetheless you two seem to be getting a good flow going. If you guys want to do one more I feel we'd be up to the task, but once again it's your call."

"Oh, don't worry, we will be doing a lot more." said Riksis with a smirk. He had finally gotten a shield to pair for his fighting style. He had always liked the reach of a spear with the protection of a shield. It felt like the perfect blend of defense and offense. Riksis surveyed the field, still lush with monsters, spying a lone one to the right of his group. "Alright, lets go."  Riksis walked up the lone boar which instantly showed aggression as he drew it's aggro. He placed the shield between himself and the boar, raising his spear to the side and angling it at the boar. He intended to lure the boar in to test the waters of his new style. The boar took the bait, charging in to him with everything it had. It hit his shield, throwing it up and exposing Riksis's guard, delivering a gorge to his stomach that threw him back. Riksis looked at the two small red holes in his stomach, watching his health go down to the low green. Another attack would put him in the yellow, half health. He charged the boar, using his shield to knock it's tusks upward with a shiedl bash before delivering a stab to it's exposed throat. He withdrew away and covered up with his shield. He needed to learn the ropes of this new style.

The tap on Warnik's shoulder wasn't appreciated, when Calrex reassured him that getting loot was a long shot. He shrugged his hand off, and kept his mace upwards. The idea of going into someone else's shop and getting an item commision for himself wasn't something he could see himself doing, either. He'd rather not interact with people unless it was absolutely necessary. Calrex's words fell on deaf ears when he said they were doing good. Warnik didn't feel like he was, so he was eager when Riksis spoke up.

Warnik nodded sharply when Riksis said they'd be continuing to take down some more boars. He was happy for that, maybe then he'd get a drop as well, when and if he managed to land a final hit on a mob. He patiently waited for Riksis's move to follow up with an attack like they had done prior, but this time his companion was more on the defensive, probably due to the large shield he wieled in conjunction with his spear. Though he looked prepared, the boar managed to give the player some nasty holes in his torso, as it drove it's tusks into him. The previous jealousy Warnik had disappeared momentarily as he watched, with a concerned expression.

"You alright?" Warnik said, but upon seeing that the boar didn't do much damage, he sighed. "Geez, you scared me." he mentally noted, as he seen the red glowing wounds heal up quickly. Once that situation was over, and Riksis was a safe distance away, Warnik brought up his mace again, and started charging towards the boar who was focused on the other player.

"Hiyah!" Warnik shouted as he swung his mace horizontally, not unlike the attack he did earlier. The head of Warnik's mace, bashed the boar in the side and it squealed lightly in pain, as it recoiled away. He did the same and jumped away to a safe distance. He was happy that he managed to land a decent hit.

As Warnik shrugged off his hand Calrex gave a small sigh to himself as he drew his sword, pointing it at the boar Riksis had just engaged.

"It seems like they're doing well combat-wise, but going from their reactions so far it feels like they're still fairly wet behind the ears. Of course I guess that would be expected. These battles would be their first. They're not exactly humbling in difficulty, especially with me here. I just hope that they learn that lesson quickly, and hopefully not under the circumstances I ended up having to obtain them under."

As Riksis took a hit from the boar Warnik had charged in and delivered a nice hit against the creature. Now that his turn came Calrex rushed past both of them as he gave a quick breath, "Focus. End this quickly..."

His sword light alight with a blue hue as he brought it across his body as he used his Swallow Return attack. The three blows struck the boar dead on, knocking it left and right before his last hit cleaved the boar in half, the defeated monster dissipating into a series of crystals. As he heard its extermination he gave a sigh, flicking his blade like one would to remove blood from a sword before he resheathed it back into his scabbard, turning to face his two companions, "Nice work you two, another one down. How are you feeling Riksis? Right now you're the closest to half health, so if you're not feeling up for another I suggest against us continuing."

Another boar broke into millions of crystals floating into the sky above. Nothing special loot-wise this time around. It didn't discourage Riksis at all as his last drop was just a lucky find. Riksis looked at the upper left hand corner of his vision, his health bare was still green, though one more attack would put him at half health, the yellow zone. He wasn't worried. The boars around here did a max of 2 damage with a critical hit, which was rare. With Riksis's new stat change of damage mitigation, they would only be able to do a critical of one damage. He wasn't in danger of dying anytime soon, especially with two people to back him up. "No, ill be fine. Ill see how my health is after another boar."

Again Riksis lead the charge to find another boar, this time a black boar on the fringes of the spawn location. It looked to be a bit larger than the brown boars they had been fighting. It's tusks where straightened, filed to a point, instead of curled for ramming. Riksis let out a roar as he charged in to attack the boar. The boar, being deceptively fast for it's size, saw him coming. As Riksis set his spear to ram the boar, his shield's edge caught the ground making him lose his footing as the boar charged him. The boar lifted him up with his tusks, sending him up and over his back. He landed with a hard thud on his back. "Damn. i have to get used to fighting with this shield.". Riksis got back up, determined to do better.

Warnik groaned as he watched Calrex effortlessly take down the boar with a well placed slash with his sword. The blue hue of his blade went clean through the boar, and it immediately burst into crystals signifying it's defeat. Though he was happy that they were gaining a lot of experience and col, Warnik was a little off put that no one gained any good loot this time around. He supposed hoping that it would happen immediately would be too rare, and he was getting needlessly frustrated.

"Nice attack, Calrex." he said looking towards the higher leveled player. He had to admit that it was a good thing they had a stronger person with them, despite the annoyance he was feeling earlier. When he spoke up and asked Riksis if he was up for another battle, his companion immediately rushed towards another boar.

"Guess that answers that," he stated to no one in particular. He watched Riksis's movements, and noticed that he wasn't doing a very good job of attacking. His shield must've tripped him up and caused him to miss the boar. He didn't say anything in response to that, since he couldn't blame him. That shield looked heavy, and Warnik probably wouldn't be caught using one that large.

Once Riksis recovered, Warnik rushed in beside him, jumping into the air, and bringing the mace down upon the black boar's back. The boar stumbled lightly, but it didn't seem too shaken up by the attack as it turned to him, and let out a rough short in retaliation. Jumping back to a safe distance, Warnik kept his guard up, and prepared himself for whatever would come next, after Calrex's attack.

As Riksis and Warnik both rushed in and engaged another boar Calrex nodded by redrawing his sword, watching as Riksis tried to strike, but was hindered by his new shield. In the meantime Warnik managed to get a blow against the new opponent.

"Alright this one should be the last one from what I can tell. Once we're finished here I hope these two will be strong enough to last on their own."

He rushed in, pointing his sword at the boar as he leapt over Warnik, prepaing to strike the boar from behind. Unfortunately, as his blade came down the boar leapt to the side, dodging Calrex's blade. Calrex flipped his sword into reverse as he leapt back, gaining some distance between him and the boar "Alright, keep up the pressure guys. Let's keep this thing on its toes."

It was his turn to try and damage the boar. His last attack had been a disaster, leaving his HP gauge depleted. He ran towards the boar, leading with his spear and supporting it with his shield. He planned to skewer the beast on his spear. At the last second the boar jumped away, sending him into yet another front roll. This time he was ready for it, rolling into it using his shiled, he rose up to his feet once more. "Dammit." He cursed under his breath.

Warnik watched as Riksis tried to land another hit, but he missed yet again, but rolled away to a safe distance quick enough to not get attacked in return. That shield was beginning to look more like a hindrance than a help with how large it was, and how unbalanced it appeared to make Warnik's companion. He decided not to pay much attention to that fact, and shook his head, deciding to ignore that display. Maybe he was just having some bad luck. After his shrug, he approached the boar with his mace high in the air. Warnik took too long to deliver the blow, and the boar saw it coming, It jumped back and let the mace hit the ground.

"Shoot". Warnik groaned. He should've been paying attention more.
