[PP-F3] A delayed visit [Azazel]

Recommended Posts

L was fixated on the beast now as it's health dwindled orange. He made a break for it, though the beast was just as focused as he. With its helmet off, steam could be seen seaming from its nostrils, it's bright red eyes gleaming at his slender figure as their vectors locked. The two charged at each other, L wasn't worried at all. The beast looked as though it was going for a low swing and he jumped in the air for an early dodge, to his delight it was as he predicted. The beast lunged forward and his defences opened, Life's blade lodged in its neck and he pulled down veraciously as he slid across his back. A wild howl was given off by the beast and L smirked as its health bar fell into the red zone. The minotaur raised it's leg and stomped down hard sending a shockwave that broke Lifes stance and the minotaurs own armour, he struggled just to keep up right and the beast turned for him. He jumped back gaining some distance from the thing but it's rage was tremendous and fuelled it's charge. Life didn't know where to run but the beast was already at him before he could think of a way to hide. With pure instinct Life slid under the minotaurs legs and flipped away but the beast just turned swiftly again and came at him another time. With a heavy cleave Life jumped into the air to dodge, the minotaur jumped after him Lifes eyes widened as he predicted the inevitable, the pummel of the minotaurs axe slammed into his stomach and drove him to the ground. The beast literally mopped the floor with his body before throwing him into a wall and huffed satisfied with the onslaught. "I think i broke something.." Life words were soft and pained, his battle healing ticked back half the damage and he was still healthy but none the less he was in deep pain.

Azazel watched as the scene before her unfolded into abject horror. Life and the Minotaur went head to head and of course Life hit the beast, but the mob wasn’t done with the boy. The beast stomped sending a shock wave through the ground once again. Anna tumbled over from the pressure of the blast. It seemed Life too, was knocked off balance and that’s when the thing went to strike. The Minotaur charged and Life, and being a nimble little thing, he slid between the beast’s legs, he was trying to get some distance between himself and the monster, but the thing copied the boy’s movement and was able to land a rather devastating blow upon Life. The beautiful boy in the blue kimono was driven down into the ground at full force before being pushed about and then flung into a wall.

Anna rushed over to Life immediately. He quietly said that he thought something was broken and that royally pissed Azazel off. She turned to face the thing and rushed in at it, her rapier at the ready. She grazed the Minotaur again sending red shards flying, but it wasn’t enough to take his life down very far. Azazel was desperate. She knew she needed to do whatever she could to keep Life safe and alive even if that meant taking down the Minotaur on her own.

Life watched as Azazel ran forth at the minotaur, he may be hurt but he wasn't weak, he wasn't going to let her put herself in danger just because he was caught out. She attacked the beast and the minotaur was enraged, its attention turned to her and prepared for a strike, no, he wasn't going to let it happen. The grabbed the handle of his katana and pulled himself up and charged towards the beast dragging his katana along with him. A surge of energy rushed through him as he yelled at the top of his lungs pushing through the pain which was soon to wear off, if it was still there, he didn't notice it anymore. He grabbed hold of Azezels shoulder and pulled her back as the minotaurs axe came hammering down, pulling her to safety. With his quick feet he swerved in place and narrowly dodged the blade as his own dragged across the floor in a crescent which he lifted as he jumped. His movements came full circle as the rising blade slashed the minotaurs body diagonally, his kimono flared out as he spun and when his blade left the beasts body it staggered backwards losing the handle of his own weapon. Life descended swiftly and his feet found its place on top of the handle which protruded outwards from the axe which was logged in the ground. With a cocky step he dropped down to the ground, ripped the blade out from the ground and threw it back at the minotaurs hands "Your fight is with me big boy." The minotaur grabbed hold of his weapon and grunted in angst, it was as good as dead at this point.

In attacking the creature Azazel had put herself right into the striking zone of the raging Minotaur without even realizing it. She’d been so angry when she’d run in that she didn’t think about what to do after. The large bull creature’s ax was swinging down upon her and she had no time to react. A scream came from behind her and she felt a hand upon her. Immediately she was pulled back from danger and thrown to safety.

Anna found herself on the ground a way’s back and struggled to her feet as she watched what was going on. The boy had saved her and then attacked the Minotaur with ease. The attack left the monster staggering and it let go of its weapon. The adorably cocky boy pulled the blade from the ground and threw it at the feet of the mob. He told it that the fight was between them, but Azazel couldn’t have it that way. She couldn’t allow the already hurt boy to save her just because she wasn’t anywhere as strong as he was. Anna needed to show Life that she was a capable player and not some weak woman who needed the protection of a child, even if that child was a far superior warrior than she.

Zaz gripped her rapier tightly and once more used the opportunity that Life had given her to attack. As the Minotaur was busy trying to retrieve his weapon, she had moved in and thrust the point of her blade into the monster’s leg and slashed at it with all her strength to remove the blade from the beast to get out of the way. The monster’s health fell into red zone and that was her queue to get as much distance between her and the monster as possible. She ran as quickly as she could behind Life and laughing.

“NOW... he’s all yours!†she huffed as she continued to laugh. Anna had no doubts that the monster would fall very soon.

The beast was within the finishing zone now and he was keen on ending it. However the minotaur wasn't to pleased about his own situation and didn't have any intention of leaving the battle without an accomplishment. It's body began to glow bright red and it's muscles enlarged as it let out a mighty bellow. It wasn't going to just keep taking hits anymore, the beasts muscles tightened and he launched himself in the air, disappearing into the foggy seemingly never ending ceiling. Lifes stomach began to church as he expected the worse, a large red circle spread open, with Azazel in the middle. "ZAZ, MOVE!" He ran towards her at a ridiculously fast pace but only 3 steps in and the beast had dropped on top of her digging its hoof into her stomach. He watched her health bar drop by at least 22%, the landing made a shockwave so huge life was blown away and helplessly watched as he flew across the room.

It seemed that Anna was simply not fast enough to clear herself from the Minotaur’s attack. Once she hit the creature it began to glow. “That can’t be [censored] good,†she said and then tried her best to scramble away. The beast jumped out of sight and into the mist above them and a red circle indicator enveloped her and she looked to Life. He screamed for her to run, but she was like a deer in headlights and couldn’t move an inch to save herself. The boy began to run at her at top speed, but it wasn’t enough to rescue her.

The Minotaur reappeared and fell directly onto Anna. The creature’s hoof crushed her down into the stone below her and her life bar took a pretty massive hit.  The pain of being crushed was a familiar one and everything she tried her best to bury, bubbled up to the surface. Anna was afraid that she was going to die here like she almost had that day. Though she knew her real body had not been crushed and her pain was purely psychosomatic, it didn't make the experience feel any less real.

Azazel lifted her head to see Life get blown back by the shock wave the Minotaur’s attack upon her, she put her head back down and closed her eyes trying to breath. Anna lay there ready to pass out from the hit she'd sustained. She was vulnerable and in the open; if she were attacked again, Zaz knew there’d be nothing she could do about it.

Life wasn't going to take this, the minotaur had gotten very dangerous in a matter of seconds.. this was his fault. He hadn't protected her well enough.. just like he didn't protect him... he was not going to let another person die when he could have done something about it. Life's battle healing ticked back some health. His body was just about to hit the ground now, he crossed his brows in frustration and slammed his hand on the ground, using the momentum to spin himself back in the right direction and simultaneously pushing himself back on his feet.

The minotaur was smiling pleased with himself, pleased with his success. He was not going to to go down without taking a prize for himself. His body towered over the girl in front of it, struggling at it's feet. He raised his axe preparing for the next strike, a few more hits and the woman would be finished. It kicked the woman over so he back was exposed, the body of its axe glowed a bright red trumping the fury in it's eyes and hammered it down without mercy, pummelling her back and leaving a wide red mark where she had been hit. He prepared again for it's next hit, she wouldn't be able to take much more

Life kept spirting, he was now meteres away from the beast but he was late again, Azazel had suffered another blow, she was dwindling on less than 50%. He wasn't going to let her die here! The beast raised its weapon for another strike but it wasn't going to go through, it had made it's last mistake ignoring him. Like a bolt of blue and black lightning Life flashed in with a devastating finishing blow, cutting horizontally completely through the minotaurs whole body. He landed by Azazels side with his back facing the two and sheathed his katana, he had done it... she was safe. Life breathed a sigh of relief as the length of the blade finally clicked in, the minotaurs body slowly vaporised from where it had been cut dissolving from the two cut halves. The minotaurs expression was frozen in shock until it had completely disappeared as font of red and gold particles. He looked over his should with a look of relief "Are you hurt?"

Anna lay there staring up at the ceiling struggling to push herself up but she hadn’t found the strength to yet. Whether it was out of damage or fear she didn’t know, but if she didn’t move soon, she would be attacked again.  As she struggled to move she went flying and fell back to the ground on her stomach; it’d seemed she’d been attacked again and the bull beast was still coming. She tried her hardest to push herself up onto her arms but there was a crushing blow to her spine before she even could. She felt the air and even her life itself being compressed out of her. It was like last time, only there was no blood like before, only the same pain of being slowly crushed to death. She saw Life’s figure blurrily moving toward her and then nothing else. Azazel passed out from the pain.

There wasn’t anything else after that.

The delicate figure didn't respond, he turned his body around and knelt beside her.. she had passed out it seemed. He sighed, at least she was safe now. He straightened her body so it would be easier to manoeuvre her and grabbed her arms placing it around him. He stood up, dragging her body up with him and haunched forward so she wouldn't fall while he grabbed her legs. A piggy back ride was what his father used to call it. He moved onward through the now opened gate. The scenery in front of him was unsettling, it looked like something out of the 10th floor. It was a giant cavern with various pathways, there was no way he'd be able to find the location if it wasn't for the mini map. "Almost there buddy.." He reminded himself of why he was going in the first place, that's right.. It was to say goodbye and he'd do it properly. He wondered if he was in a heaven, if he was watching over him.. he doubted it but the thought was comforting. He got to thinking more about the context of the quest and the rumours spread about, from what he heard there was supposed to be a monument of all the players but... wasn't that already there on the first floor? He didn't care though, as long as there was a chance seeing him and the rest of his friends again was true.

Anna found herself staring up at the moon. She was small again. That day her mom had put her hair in pigtails and she was wearing her new dress, the cute white one with little pink roses on it; her shoes were lying on the sidewalk. She liked to take them off whenever she played outside. It was getting dark and she was still outside playing when the streetlights went on. The other children were heading in for the night but not Anna, she stood in the driveway holding her little red ball in her tiny arms. She did not want to go inside; bad things only ever happened in there. The little girl rocked back and forth smiling up at the full moon unaware that there was the slamming of the car door, or that the engine had turned on. A June bug had flown into the little girl’s pigtail and she dropped her ball trying to swat the bug away. She managed to free it from her tangled hair and then she dashed for her ball that now bounced toward the street.

No one noticed that little Anna had run after the ball and the car reversed down the driveway rather quickly. The small girl was stuck from behind and was sent sailing through the air. She landed in the street with a hard thud. She didn’t know what was happening. Her eyes were closed and every time she tried opening them, wet stuff kept getting in her eyes. Anna used her tiny hands to wipe away the wet stuff, and when she was able to see, she saw that her little legs were bent and broken and everything hurt so badly. Anna looked at her hands and saw they were covered in blood.

She could hear her father yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs; he was mad, again. He was always so angry at her.  There were people coming and yelling and so much was happening as she lay there. Anna heard her father’s footsteps come forward and he started to curse at her. Then there was more pain. Hit after hit there was pain on her back and sides. She turned to see that her father was stamping on her, cussing and yelling at her for getting in the way of the car. She tried to scream or even cry out from the pain but only blood spilled from her mouth. Then everything slowly began to get fuzzy and get smaller until all she saw was black.

There wasn’t anything after that.

Azazel moaned. She was dreaming again. She hated dreaming, especially when it was that dream. She hadn’t seen the events like that in a long time. The woman moaned again and struggled to wake herself. Anna’s eyes fluttered open. Everything still hurt like a mother. Anna’s arms hugged around the boy’s neck a little more tightly and she rested her head against him remembering where she was and what’d happened. She did not see Life finish the beast off, but she knew that he’d been triumphant.

“I’m sorry,†she whispered quietly. Fat tears began to escape from the corners of her eyes.

Anna was only here because she had wanted to protect Life, and yet, he had to take care of her. It was not the way she’d intended things to go. She tried to get herself to stop crying, but her tears were just not listening. They continued to fall silently as he walked through down the path they traveled upon.

He felt a droplet his shoulder and looked up slightly confused, I’m sorry... He looked over his should at Zaz, she was tearing up. Something told him she was disappointed with herself... There was definitely something on her mind. He reached over his shoulder and caressed her cheek, wiping away some of the tears that rolled across her fair skin. â€œDon’t worry about it, you did your best, and that’s all I could have asked for.†He let a faint smile show and looked away, continuing to walk down the path they were on. They were nearing the spot marked on the mini map by the random NPC.

A faint whisper could be heard in the back of his mind clawing at it trying to get in. My My My dear what do we have hear, another mind for us to snap? How has my favourite manipulative sociopath been? The clawing disappeared abruptly, and there was a dreary silence again, and it made him sick to his stomach. He snapped back to reality and shook his head holding the side in pain not sure what just happened to him.

He decided to stop near a basin filled with water; it dripped ever so slowly from the rock mineral ceiling. He let Zaz down and sat in silence; just watching small ripples form across its surface. He looked back at her curious, wondering how she felt but he knew prying personal information wasn’t always a good idea, and so he let her be. He started to go through his inventory making sure they were fit to fight another battle. Many of his items seemed like they were just there, the holes in his memory still got to him at times and caused him to space out.

Anna felt a hand wipe away her tears. He told her that she’d done well and it was all he could ask of her to do. The woman took a deep breath to calm herself and wiped at her face with the back of her hand to dry the rest of her tears. Life gave her a smile and then continued to move down the path they were on. Things were quiet, but Zaz was glad for the silence it gave her leave to relax. She relaxed her slight weight against Life; her health meter was starting to climb and the pain she’d felt was also beginning to subside, but it’d be awhile before she was 100%.

Life stopped and Anna lifted her head to see where they were. There was a basin of water which filled from water that dripped from the ceiling above. Life set her down near the water and then sat down beside her. She was half tempted to wash off her face in the water but thought better of her action; she had a feeling the water might be tainted. They were in a dungeon after all and one could never be too careful. Zaz shifted and leaned against the wall giving a slight moan as Life sorted through his inventory. They sat side by side a while in silence until the woman could take it no longer.

“How much further to our target?†She asked softly.

Life looked over at Zaz when she spoke, breaking the silence suddenly as he finished checking his inventory, 10 health potions would definitely be enough for any mishaps. He thought on her question for a moment and checked the mini map "Hmm not sure. There can always be interruptions and detours in dungeons but if all goes well it should take no more than 15 minutes"  Life spaced out again staring at the lake but quickly came to sense again. "In any case we should get going, your health bar is pretty slow, take these" He used a health potion on Zaz ,gave her another to add to her inventory and quickly sprung to his feet and looked around "Wait, the map says we have to cross this lake.." Life rubbed his neck, utterly confused. He stepped closer to the lake and stared into the waters depths not exactly sure how to go about the puzzle laid out by the dungeon. A creature emerged from the depths and startled him so badly he fell backwards. "Ah... that wasn't nice" He rubbed his lower back and got up cautiously, the creature was strange, it was a blue elf resembling the mythical creature fosse grim, according to Scandinavian folklore its name was fosse-grim. "This place is dangerous travelers, be weary and on your toes for the dead hold no clemency and the depths are no friend" The creature extended out his arm and an icy path formed on the waters surface leading across to the other side. Life looked back at Zaz wondering if she was ok to continue. The creature sat on a nearby boulder, created a harp formed out of water and slowly played a mellow tune.

Azazel closed her eyes and leaned back against the wall. She wasn’t sure how far she could make it, not in her condition. Life seemed to understand this and told her to drink. Anna opened her eyes to find the boy holding out a potion to her. The liquid went down easily and she felt her health refilling. She took the second bottle offered and immediately drank that down as well. It was sweet but she couldn’t decipher a flavor. Her health bar ticked closer to full and she found that she hurt far less than she did about a minute ago.

While she healed up, Life was trying to figure out how they were going to cross the underground lake. The boy moved closer to the water and then suddenly fell back. She didn’t notice the thing moving through the water until it fully emerged from the water and began to speak. It took shape of a rather lovely elfish creature dressed in fineries. The thing created a path of ice for them both and gave them a warning to avoid falling into the water. Azazel had no intention of falling into the pool of black. She had no early idea how deep it was and she certainly did not want to find out what else might be lurking in the depths waiting for them.

Anna finally was able to pull herself up off the floor. She dusted herself off and then walked over toward Life, quite mesmerized by the beautiful music the creature played. Anna felt herself being drawn to the creature as he continued to play the haunting melody until she somehow snapped herself from it. “That was dangerous.†Zaz shook her head and backed away knowing full well what the intent of a creature like that was. She happened to know that water sprites were notorious for drowning those who veered to close to them.  The woman looked at the ice bridge and then back to the boy with concern. They weren’t really going to cross that were they?

Zaz seemed unsure of wether or not they should actually be crossing the ice path, but it was the only way to continue on "You don't have to come.. but i need to go. I hope you understand" He stepped onto the ice path, it seemed rather stable enough to continue and took a deep breathe. Without another thought he continued walking across it. As he walked the ice path got wider and wider until the centre was about the size of a foot ball field. When put in perspective the cave they were in was absolutely huge, being in the centre of it made him feel tiny. The music slowly got louder but the fosse grim couldn't be seen anywhere at all. The ground started to shake beneath them violently but steadied just a few moments after. He looked over at Zaz grimly, he knew they were in deep peril now. The ice cracked open and a giant creature emerged, it looked like a sea serpent with the top half of it's body a man, however its head was slightly deformed.. almost as if its jaws were the jaws of a snake. "Puny mortal, you tresspass on sacred ground! You will regret ever coming here!" The serpent creature had a large ellexdrow war spear and emitted an aura which made the creature seem shrouded in haze. It looked fearsomely powerful and he deeply worried for Azazel. "Know the meaning of terror!" It swiftly glided across the ice, making it's way towards Life and raised its weapon high. Life had no idea how he was supposed to move on ice but if he was to survive he would have to adapt and that was something Life was all to good at. The monster cleaved the weapon at him causing wind to blow violently across the battle field. Life kept calm, starring coldly at the creature and drew his blade in the classic samurai fashion deflecting the serpents blade away from him at the same time. The serpent slid backwards from the exchange of force and so did L, he lowered his body increasing his centre of gravity, he'd need some fancy footwork for this battle. The creature was surprised and also amused "You don't talk much do you.. how about we entertain your friend" It's snake like jaws began to open and the head of another creature could be seen being regurgitated from its throat. It struggled with the torso but once its arms popped out the rest of its body slid out easily. It was a smaller version of the same creature but also a female. Life tried not to gag at the sight and instead focused on trying not to be caught of guard. "That was attractive" He said in a sarcastic tone.

Life saw the look on the woman’s face and spoke. He was going to go no matter what; Anna already knew this. “I know, I’m coming with you,†she said however, she knew the situation was incredibly jacked up. Life began down the ice path and once he was a few steps in and all seemed well, Anna followed behind him. She found that she was a lot less graceful upon the ice as the boy, but she kept herself upright. Her companion was much quicker and ended up much further from her than she would have liked.

As the y moved upon the ice she noticed that the field of white was growing larger until the pair of them were dots on the vast landscape. She didn’t have a very good feeling about this; from the look that Life gave her as her turned back to face her, neither did he. She was about to call out to Life but the ice split ahead of him and something massive came slithering up from the depths. Anna tried to hurry toward the boy but there was no way she’d reach him before the serpent creature did. The serpentine being rushed toward Life with its spear pointed directly at him; they clashed and the pair was forced apart by the sheer force of the other’s strength. It seemed the creature was amused by her companion and didn’t want any interference from Azazel. In order to keep her busy, the monster vomited up a female serpent creature to keep Zaz occupied while the larger mob kept Life to itself.

The female serpentine creature slithered her way toward Azazel at great speed. Her opal scaled glittered against the soft light in the cave as the thing drew ever closer to the woman. Zaz drew her rapier and watched the thing moving about her. She waited until the thing drew in close enough and then thrust her sword right into the side of the beast. The snake woman recoiled and hissed at Azazel.

“That’s right you ugly bitch, you and your playmate screwed up here,†Zaz said with a laugh. Even though their situation seemed dire, she was confident that she and Life would be walking away from this fight no problem.

Life smiled at the sight of Zaz fighting with zeal, he hoped she would be ok fighting the thing on her own. The serpent creature was amused as he watched the two females going at it "Eyes on me big guy" Life charged in swiftly while the monstrosity was unprepared, he dragged his blade up from his side and swung at a diagonal attempting to leave a nasty gash in the things chest. The creatures eyes moved and spotted him almost instantly and it raised its spear to block just as cooly as he had deflected it's last attack. "I see you're eager to die. Very well then!" The creatures name was 'fearsome ceto' From what he could recall that was a simple name given to just about any sea creature so he assumed this mob was nothing special. It twirled its spear afew times before sweeping at Life's body, but Life was still much to quick, even on ice. He used his blade, sticking it in the ground and pushed off of it propelling himself into the air. The creature missed but just barely and Life landed just afew steps away from his blade. He'd have to make a break for it soon.

Azazel knew she had to stay alive for Life’s sake; he couldn’t possibly protect her this time and fight off both monsters. It’s why she focused so intently on her own fight. The woman didn’t have to bother watching the other fight as she already knew the handsome boy in the blue kimono would have little trouble vanquishing the larger creature.

She and the female creature circled one another each keeping their distance and watching for an opening. Anna gripped her rapier and turned the point toward the serpentine woman. She was a rather creepy looking thing. Her skin was pale and her hair was snow white that reached far past the half of her that was humanoid; she had blood red eyes that were cold and lifeless. Her face looked rather normal except for her mouth which looked like a giant slit that ran from left to right across her face. The thing opened her mouth to reveal rows and rows of triangular razor sharp teeth. “You are rather ugly…†Zaz cracked a smile.

Finally they stopped circling and Anna went in for the attack. Both she and the mob pounced upon each other at the same time. Anna’s blade struck the beast in the chest and she drove the tip into the thing rather deeply; the female reciprocated by sinking its razor sharp teeth into Anna’s left forearm and using its massive claws to slash at Azazel’s belly. The woman pushed off the mob and slide back across the ice holding her arm. She might have been hurt, but she knew she inflicted equal damage upon the beast.

Life had a feeling Zaz was doing fine on her own and he focused solely on the creature in front of him. Due to his recent taunts it wasn't so keen on letting Life of with easy hits and Life preferred it that way. The two circled each other two blue figures gliding across the ice. Life used the length of his katana skilfully, it dug deep into the ice as he levered his own body weight around to scoop out a bit of the ice as he launched himself across the surface. The creature however crudely cut through it with its scales as it carved its way through the ice and thrusted the head towards him with enough force to make the wind howl. He ducked underneath the initial thrust and pushed off the ice flying through the air like blue kite, his kimono flapped in the air as he spun forward bringing his katana down at the serpents head. The serpent moved back quickly to avoid taking the edge to the face but as he continued to bring it down the length of the blade dragged across its slippery body causing the creature to his with pain. Life landed beside the creature with an impudent look spread across his face as it started at him in bewilderment. "ARgh! You won't get off that easily..." Life wanted the thing to get mad, the more rage the filled an entity the more rash its decisions became. Life rose from his feet and turned to face the reptile, it's eyes widened and it snarled as it watched the boy lift his unequipped arm and raised a single finger, calling it to attack.

Zaz’s arm was in pain. The seawitch had bitten through the thick leather ruining a pair of rather nice leather gloves. The woman was just glad that the injury wasn’t to her weapon arm; else she’d be rather screwed at the moment. The thing made a rather creepy clicking sound that caused Anna to shudder in response. Despite being afraid she knew what she needed to do; she needed to vanquish this thing and then help Life take down the big one. Azazel dropped her weapon arm and readied herself for her next attack.

Once more Azazel attacked; her blade grazed the thing’s side, but not deeply. The Ceto used Anna’s range against her and used her long claws to strike Anna’s chest.  Her nails embedded them straight through her lather armor and sunk into the woman’s tender flesh beneath.  They ripped through the material and her flesh as if it were nothing more than paper. Anna winced sharply as the creature threw her across the ice. She tumbled but she grasped onto the ice and pulled herself up quickly. Her chest heaved as adrenaline kicked in. Anna was a little more than pissed off now. She clutched at her rapier and rushed back toward the beast. There was no time for her to be worried about her injuries. If the bitch kept hitting her like it had, then Zaz was as good as dead.
