Proof that the Dual wield Skill was not a Unique skill.

Recommended Posts

Alright so major inconstancy- and this was in the light novels btw, was the fact that Kirito got the Duel-wield Skill and it was treated as a unique skill. However he was NOT the first to get this skill; as in earlier in the plot-line, and even the light novels, one of the bandits in episode 4 uses dual axes.

To some might say; well yeah but he was just using normal attacks- WRONG!

Look to it's glow; that's the glow of a weapon skill! This is proof that Kirito was an op asshole that the writer was just making up censored as he went and didn't no fact checking on his own content when he got to it!

As for my second point- Quest to get duel wielding! This is a skill we could use, and it wouldn't break the game as you'd be trading one of your equipped slots for a second weapon. Which normally means ether less defense, or less utility depending what your third item normally is.

Now can't make the gm's make this, and I don't plan on pursuing this, just food for thought.

To be fair kirito didn't notice the skill till later on in the story meaning he probably didn't have it. Which could also lead to him not originally having the fastest reaction time in accordance with the skill prerequisite. So that man, that man right there had the fastest reaction time maybe he died or just lost his touch after one of the time skips, or even the prison area he was sent to made him lose it. Just sayin maybe he wasn't making up stuff as he went along and this was foreshadowing the dual wield skill.

Actually as far as the show, it was said that when he made duel wielding it is unique to the person with the best reaction time. So my theory is that other people could very well have the skill first. But as those people die the next person with the highest reaction time gets the skill. So it just trickled down the line until Kirito was next in line for the skill.

But when he got it they called it a never before seen skill that not even the Info-brokers knew existed; as in it had never been seen in action before to be talked about. So while he could have been the fastest if the skill was seen in the earlier floors the brokers wouldn't have found out about it. Especially in a low tier, rather moderately known criminal guild like Titans hand it would have been reported long before he was put away- unless he just got it on that floor. It's still an inconsistancy; mostly made to make the already snowflake Kirito, more snowflake.

But you do have to remember Titans guilds face was the girl the others hid. Meaning they probably kept secrets so if they were moderately known guild at the lower floors and to lower leveled players I might add. anyone who sees them wouldn't think "oh that guy has two weapons." They would instead think "OH GOD IM GONNA DIE!!!" So yeah the skill could easily remain hidden especially among a PK group who used this as an advantage.

Wow someone revived this old discussion. This was already made clear some time ago as an error when the series was made into an anime, remember that this was originally a novel turned to anime/manga so certai things change and seem different. This was sadly one of the biggest goof ups in the entire thing, however let it be noted that anyone can dual wield the only difference is that you can't use Sword Arts while doing so unless you have the actual Unique Skill. I'm going to leave this here and let you all take it as you will.

Not sure if this helps, but to clarify the skill that Kirito uses is not "dual wielding."

The actual name is Dual Blades, meaning that the Unique Skill applies to a two sword skill. So even if the discrepancy Zero pointed out was actually cannon, this would only apply to weapons that are not swords, like the two axes that the player killer used.

Unfortunately though, that is and always will be a mistake between the anime and the light novels. Realistically in the game no one would choose to do so, because Sword Arts are assisted by the Assist System, pretty much guaranteeing a hit on an enemy. A person choosing to wield dual weapons would forgo that bonus, putting them at a significant, and possibly fatal, disadvantage.
