Ill have to do this without my shield for now Jomei looked left and right to see if he could see his shield popping out of the sand, but it was not that easy with the sand gusting around. He spun his sword in his hand and prepared to attack one of the worms if it came in his direction. A sudden sound, sounding like a stab followed by a light roar, filled the air as he saw a worm peak out from above a cloud of dust, carrying Lowenthal. Its descent was heading in Jomei's direction. He took off running to intercept it. Before he could make it and land an attack, the worm spat out a large gust of sand, blinding Jomei momentarily. Once he cleared his vision, the worm was back under the ground.

The sandstorm was not helping Skylar's ability to see. The fact that Skylar was becoming stronger was evident in the dodges. Jomei was missing most of hits, Lowenthal managed to go flying and his the worm. {I am glad they are here. At least that worm is kept busy,}

 

Skylar waited for the rumbling. Why go after something that had it out for you. The ground started to shake, this time the worm came from under him. Skylar was tossed in the air "Weeeeeeeee! This is pretty fun guys!" Skylar twisted to kick the work in the head before it could swallow him. "Piss of I am having fun. Weeeeeeee!"

Lowenthal slid along the sand, having trouble getting his footing. This sand was different then beach sand. The sand at beaches was on top of dirt, or solid ground. The beach also has softer sand, this sand was coarse and thick. Struggling to get to his feet, Lowenthal sunk down to his ankles. "Ah, you've got a weird sense of fun!" Lowenthal called out to Skylar. As he did, he felt the ground vibrate around him. Unable to move, all Lowenthal could do was ready himself. The worm appeared from the ground, spewing sand. The worm rammed Lowenthal, it's teeth ripping into Lowenthal's jacket. The blow freed him from his sandy trap, but Lowenthal had lost his turn to act.

Jomei took one more quick look around to see if he could see his shield. Sadly, he could not find anything. He looked to where the worms were fighting with his friends. Skylar was yelling excitedly, Must be having a fun time.. A bead of sweat dropped down his cheek. But then he heard the roar of the second one, followed by Lowenthal grunting. Jomei tightened the grip on his rapier and took off using his <Sprint> skill. The sand was tough to run in, but did not take away from Jomei's speed much. 

He saw Lowenthal inside of the monsters mouth, its teeth ripping into him. "Lowenthal!" He yelled as he charged up his sword with a golden glow. He leapt into the air and brought his sword down on the beast, piercing it swiftly 6 times. He kicked off of the worm and leapt backwards as it flinched in pain from the attack. He made a soft landing in the sand and spun his sword in his hand, waiting for another attack.

Skylar was really focused on his battle. The sudden shout from Jomei took some of his attention, he looked around to see Lowenthal about to be eaten. Jomei used his sprint skill to get on top of the worm while it was going for Lowenthal, and did well to stop it by stabbing it with his Rapier repeatedly. "Good job man!" Skylar was unsure if he was heard, if he was not the accolades could be given later.

 

*Hiss* *Hiss*

 

The same worm kept coming after him. It was intent on killing Skylar for all the torment. "I think you need a better past time." Skylar jumped as the worm came side ways. "Look at me I am worm riding!" It is pretty great to become strong. Long ago this battle would have killed him, now it was just a warm up. The worm was getting ready to dive, Skylar had to do the sensible thing and punch it between two section. Between the head and the body, the worm shrieked before he jumped off. "Nice try!" It dove back in the sand as Skylar watched the other fight,

Lowenthal watched, and listened as Skylar basically rode the sand worm. What an odd person. He thought, not knowing what to think, or how to feel about what was happening before him. Lowenthel scoffed, how can one be this nonchalant? As he thought that, the sand worm had surprised him and had leaped out of the ground right next to him. Lowenthal spun to avoid the sudden attack, but the sand messed with his footing. And before he could get a counter attack in, the worm had disappeared back into the ground.

"Wish it could be that easy for me." He sighed as he saw Skylar having the time of his life riding the giant worm. "Too bad the other one is taking two of us to-" He was quickly cut off as the saw the second worm was gliding above the sand, heading right towards him. Its mouth was wide open, teeth all around the circumference of its mouth. One wrong move and you'd be shred to bits. His eyes widened and he began to sweat. The worm was closing in fast, there was no running back from it, or getting around it. "Only one way left to go.." Jomei took off running towards the worm and used his <Acrobatics> skill to jump high up onto the worm's body. He couldn't get a good enough footing on the worm to stab it with his sword, for the worm began to twist and turn to get Jomei off of its body. It started to look like he was trying to balance on a rolling log. While trying to make his way down the worms's body, a large gust of sandy wind hit him. Grainy sand filled his lungs as he gasped from balancing on the worm. He lost his footing from excessively coughing, and he fell off the side of the worm. His body smacked into the sand as he laid there momentarily, the wind knocked out of him. He stood up and coughed some more, getting the rest of the sand out of his body. "Damn.. gotta be careful next time." The worm he was riding slid back into the sand.

Skylar looked around for his new worm com-padre. Rutta was off to the side, shaking sand of his body, watching the fight with absolute boredom. "Mr. Wooorm!" Skylar called and looked all around for his worm. It was gone underneath the sand, a few groaning noses was heard, and Skylar expected it to pop up under him. Instead the worm appeared to the side, like a giant whale it plopped on the side sending sand everywhere. It was more of an annoyance then anything.

Lowenthal readied his kunai again. The worms had changed thier attacs from going from directly underneath to pouncing. As Lowenthal predicted, the worm came out hoping to his Lowenthal directly. The worm had jumped to early, and gave lowenthal ample time to move out of the way. Lowenthal swiped with his kunai, dragging it alongside the worm, giving it a matching red line.

Jomei looked around, both worms were nowhere to be seen. They had resorted to sneak attacks as their last act of desperation in their low HP states, so he had to be ready for anything. The sand a few feet in front of him began to shift, and the ground started with a low rumble. He lowered his center of gravity and spun his sword in his hand, ready to strike. A fountain of sand erupted from below Jomei's feet, followed by the face of a giant worm. It was taking him for a ride straight up into the air. Jomei readied his sword when he noticed something stuck in the jowls of the worm. "I was wondering where you got to!" It was a small fiery red buckler that Jomei knew too well. He quickly grabbed it from its lower lip and made his way for the worms back, which was making a steep  incline. He flipped his sword so he was holding it upside down, and took a step off of the worms face. He began to slide down the worm's back, picking up speed on its slippery skin. He thrusted his sword downward, creating a long red line along the outside of the worm's body. As it reached its peak and its tail changed position, the worm began to dive rather than climb up into the air. Jomei's body flipped off of the tail and landed in the sand.

"Come out, Come out, Wherever you are!" Jomei and Lowenthal both managed to hit their worm. Skylar on the other hand was searching for his, just like him the monsters in the game did not want to die. Skylar could not see them underground to try his hand at a game of Dig Dug, so he was purely doing guess work at this point.The familiar rumble started under the ground again. "So you are coming back for more eh!" The sand worm came from behind, it was a sneak! Skylar did the only rational thing. When the worm opened it's mouth Skylar jumped in and started punching. The worm HP was already low so a few blows had Skylar suddenly face first in the sand. "Please tell me you guys saw that! Cool free money and a crystal"

Lowenthal saw Skylar basically dive into the sand worm's mouth. "Gah, dammit!" He said, as he was to far away to do anything. Lowenthal ran to help Skylar, but was cut off by the second Sand Worm. Lowenthal didn't have time for this. Lowenthal threw his dagger at the Sand Worm, his kunai sticking into it's hide.The large creature turned into data fragments and Lowenthal, caught his kunai as it fell from the sky. Lowenthal looked back up the that Skylar was alright. "Damn." Lowenthal said, slightly shocked. "Not bad, I'd hate to get a bite of 'ya if it mean I exploded in the end." Lowenthal said, not being able to say anything clever. He groaned at his words and looked at Jomei. He grunted. "We should keep moving." He suggested.

Jomei wiped the sand off of his pants. When he looked up, he just saw his two friends looking around for where their enemies could be. He squinted as more sand pushed into his eyes with the wind. Suddenly, he heard the shifting of sand below him. It was moving forward, slowly at first, but picking up speed. He watched as it passed Lowenthal and disappeared. He began to take off running to catch up to him. The emergence of the worm came from farther ahead, he expected where Skylar was. He was way too far away from either of them to provide any real help, despite using his <Sprint> skill to try and catch up. Then Skylar jumped into its mouth. "What the hell is he...?!" He trusted Skylar, he figured he had an idea. But Jomei could think of 20 reasons why not to jump into a worm's mouth rather than the one reason to. He tried to pick up speed, but the sand kept him from doing so. He was almost at Lowenthal's position when the second worm finally decided to join the party. He gripped his sword, hoping Lowenthal would be able to handle it. But just as quickly as the worm showed up, it was dissolving into fragments of blue data. Jomei slowed his sprint down to a jog and caught up to Lowenthal's position. "Nice kill." He looked up to see Skylar face down in the sand, pushing himself up off the ground and then dusting himself off. He let out a sigh of relief. As Lowenthal gave Jomei a quick glare and grunted, Jomei raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.{ What was that about? }The two of them made their way over to meet Skylar.

Skylar picked himself out of the sand that started getting onto every bit of his body. The sand got into his ears a lot so he did not realize someone was speaking. It sounded as if someone said what the hell was he thinking with the whole worm things. No one spoke but wind and sand make mistakes more common.

 

"Hhmm.... Oh the last worm thing?" Skylar shook his head and managed to get the sand out his ears. "I was not able to doge without getting sliced too bits. So I jumped inside to pass the teeth. It was low on health points any way, so killing it was not a big deal." Skylar started to walk, with Rutta taking the lead. "I suggest we move faster if we want to catch up to the caravan". 

 

Skylar walked with his group for hours the sun setting, casting a darkness across the grounds around them. "Okay I suggest we stop here and take a break. The floor is pretty big and we have been doing well. It is getting too dark for us to continue movement. Anyone up for the first shift?"

Lowenthal had already gotten a lead of a few meters. He climbed to the top of a dune, to peer along the bleak desert. "I don't see the caravan. But there seems to be something shining in the distance." He turned around to face them. "It's perhaps, 3 or 4 miles out that way." he said, pointing. Lowenthal didn't know why he was helping anymore. He didn't know what the caravan had on it, let alone what it looked like. He'd been attacked by giant worms, and even better yet. Turns out the man he's trusted, is actually his opponent for Ahti. Today, just wasn't a good day.

"Was impressive, ill tell you that." He pat Skylar on the shoulder as he walked by. "Scared the hell out of me too, but thats just you." He shurgged his shoulders, his back facing towards Skylar. "Aye, we should get moving, before more of those things show up, or worse."He raised his palm to above his eyes, to block out some of the sand as he surveyed the sand. 
The group began their trek through the hot desert sands once again, avoiding the sandstorms that pelted their bodies with the grainy particles. Through the storm, he noticed it was getting considerably darker. He opened up his inventory and pulled out a bottle of water. He took a short swig of it and held it out first to Skylar shaking it a bit, who was closer to him, offering him some of it.
"A break would probably be smartest. Itll only get more dangerous. I dont mind taking the first shift, since you guys did more work on those worms." He walked up to Lowenthal. He placed his hand on his shoulder to get his attention. When he turned towards him, he held out his bottle to him.

Skylar woke up feeling confused. it was a long night and he did not generally pay attention. Skylar was tired and generally felt like sleeping a lot. It was a weird sensation to sleep underneath the stars in the game. Most of the time Skylar did not even realize time passed at all when he was asleep.

 

"JO, LO, anyone here?" Skylar called out while rubbing sand out of his eyes. Rutta rubbed him but Skylar was a bit blind.

Lowenthal looked at the man in his arms. "Seriously? You're awake now?" Lowenthal sighed, setting the green haired man down. "The acid from the inside of the worm had a paralyzing effect on you. And you passed right the hell out." Lowenthal explained to Skylar as the wind and sand pelted against him. Lowenthal let out a sigh. "Thank god you woke up though." Lowenthal said.

Jomei squinted as he surveyed the area for any sign of their target. As sand pelted his face, he pulled his scarf up to cover his mouth and nose once again. This storm was outrageous.. With no end in sight. He let out a heavy sigh as he wiped his face. It was then he heard Skylar behind him calling out to Jomei and Lowenthal, "Good, youre up" he called back as he turned to him. Jomei laughed a little as he walked towards them, "Youve been out for quite awhile, a lot longer than we were. Yeah.. Mustve been something from that fight." He turned again to look forward, his brows furrowed as more sand pelted his face. "We need to keep moving"
