[SP-F5] <<Blood in the Sand>>

Recommended Posts

Initial Panel

"Alright, let's get going" he said to himself, walking out onto the sandy biome. The sun was hot, the sand even hotter, hotter than he was prepared for. He would walk, trying to find the so called <<Sand Shark>>, but it was not even close to where he was standing. He scouted out, trying to get a glimpse of the creature but no success. What was it again, how would he spot the creature ... 'Swimming' through the sand. 'Swimming' he thought for himself as he would try to find anything that would give the creature's location.

'What does sharks do, what would give it's position' he thought, trying hard to get a good thought in this heat. He would think over and over, if he would ever find anything sharks do that would show themselves, then it hit him.

"Their back fin!" he exclaimed out loud. 'But ... don't they only show their back fin when they're on for the attack?' he thought, 'How can I get it to reveal itself'. As that thought strafed his mind the shark like mob burst up from the sand, getting one of the other smaller field mobs. "They really did try making this game as lifelike as possible, even the mobs need sustenance" he said jokingly. Now he knew its location and would try to get it up on land again but just as it was finished devouring the mobs it quickly emerged in the sand again, but the fin was still in sight, it was fast, very fast.

Second Panel

As the shark dove into the sand, he would watch its fin stay above ground, but it was too fast for him to really find out a pattern it follows, no algorithm of what he know of. As he tried to get a pattern of movement in the shark, he noticed too late that it was trying to distract him, the shark was after him. 'What a turn of event' he thought, now realizing he was the prey. He would run, as fast as he possibly could but it was in vain, the shark was right behind him, the fin not too far from his back. Then it burst up again, trying to get a bite off him. He would turn around and jump a meter or two backwards, being just about far enough away to activate the <<Charge>> skill. He would rush in, pull out his sword from the scabbard, he would take a quick sidestep and make a horizontal slash from the mobs right jaw and just down a meter on the side, then get in stance to do the <Cyclone>. With a firm stance and nice foot placement, his sword staying in the same height, with his sword still inside the mob.

"Showtime!" he roared as the sword art would go off.

Third Panel

The fight was on, it has begun. The shark would quickly move away and prepare itself for an attack. What could happen now? He wasn't prepared for this. 'Stupid, stupid, stupid!' he thought to himself, he wasn't prepared, he haven't asked anyone for attack patterns or base stats for this, but hell, it was a floor boss and It wasn't that bad, right? The shark withdrew and made a spin, slamming its tail onto him before his sword art would go off. The shark's tail was hard like concrete and the texture was all like highest grit sandpaper. His armor would've taken most of the damage from there, but it was still a tough hit. He would shrug off most of the damage and go on the offence now, while also maintaining a passive reaction onto what the shark would do.

"Damn you" he said while glaring at the shark, its health bars finally showed up. 5 bars, the first bar was already past half "This won't take long, I promise!" he said as he would get his sword down in a lower stance, his sword would glow up he would jump up in the air and get his hands above his head, getting ready for a hard impact landing.

Fourth Panel

The shark moved to the side, trying to dodge the oncoming attack, but it failed. His <<Avalanche>> landed but just quite. It would cleave down on the side of the shark, leaving another wound onto it. It would shrug it off while making some annoyed noises, it would then lunge head straight into a frontal bit, he would try to get away by jumping back, but it was in no use, it would get him with a fierce grip onto his leg, even though it didn't bite the leg off, it still did some hefty damage. He wasn't capable of moving, the shark was having a very firm grip on his leg, he couldn't get in the right pose to activate any sword art. He was frustrated, what to do now? "Let go off me!" he said while bashing the pommel onto the sharks head, it didn't really do anything, the shark threw him up in the air, then making a tumble so the tail would bash him. It hit him like a baseball bat and he was the ball. He was slammed hard down on the hot sand, he tried to get up, but it was too difficult. It would then jump up in the air, diving into the sand again, cycling around him as a shark that was targeting a helpless little seal.

Fifth Panel

Macradon could see the fin disappearing into the sands, it was now it would take him in one gulp. He tried to move, but not even a twitch. He looked around, trying to find out what was wrong, what was making him unable to move. Then he noticed, at his health bar, a little yellow lightning, he was stunned. Maybe that was the attack pattern of the shark, sweeping with its tail when target was out of position to the get a good lunge at them, throwing them up in the air to finally bash them with the tail to stun them, giving it time to prepare its finisher. He would once again glance at his health bar, it wasn't really low at all, he had nothing to fear at all. A color flinched on the health bar, the paralyze debuff was gone. 'Now is the time' he thought and rolled to the side, but he was still in the AOE radius of the shark's attack. It flew up from the sand, straight up into the air and taking a chunk of Macradon's leg, he was pushed up as well as flung to the side by the shark. As he landed, he could feel that it did more damage than per what it did before, and he was also paralyzed again.

'I got it!' he thought as he figured out the attack pattern of the shark and what its tactics were. 'Its sandpaper like skin paralyzes when touched. The AOE attack takes as much time as the paralyze has in duration, which gives the player the opportunity to dodge the attack, well played shark, well played' he thought as he waited for the paralyze to reach its end.

Sixth Panel

He was confused, where was the shark and why wasn't it cycling around him, he wasn't sure what was going on, he was sure he already had figured out the attack patterns and tactics of the shark, but doesn't seem so. What could it be plotting? What could happen now? He was confused, what will happen now? He realized the paralyze debuff was gone, he quickly jumped up and tried to get away from that area. He took a quick scout around him to look for the shark but it was nowhere to be seen. He would sigh, not knowing what happened, maybe it regenerated its health as the aggro was gone, but that would take longer time before it should stop the aggro from coming. He was confused, but just slightly as the ground began to shake. A quick motion set Macradon flying backwards, he wasn't hit by anything, it was just the shock and the force pushing him back. The shark was regenerating HP by digging under ground, emerging itself with such a force to come up safely. 'I Didn't know it could do that' he thought as he would try to see what it would do now. It's wasn't moving at all, maybe he should take the offense again and leave pressure onto the shark, that sounded like a plan. He ran forward towards the shark, sidestepped to confuse the shark, got into pose to do an <Avalanche> and jumped up into the air. He would fall down and the momentum would give the strike its name, the force struck down directly onto the shark's right fin, cutting another deep wound into the shark. He noticed that the slash was enhanced with a noticeable deeper cut and a louder slashing noise. 'Critical strike!' he thought as he would then try to jump away.

Seventh Panel

He looked at the shark's health bar, only half way through 2nd bar, this wasn't going as fast as he thought it would. As he leaps away from the shark, it turn to him and sends out a frenzy of bites, getting him 3 times in accurate succession. He fell to the ground, slowly processing what had just happened and would then figure out what would happen now. 'The tail!' he thought and he was right, the tail came swinging with a lot of force coming with it, if he didn't block or dodge this, thing could begin to turn ugly. He would get his sword to turn the flat towards the tail, as he didn't have anything that can block the attack or even parry it. The tail swung hard and hit the sword on the flat but the tail would still flick Macradon a few meters back. He would get up again and notice that he wasn't debuffed with paralyze. He still took damage, but he was capable of continuing the fight without too much hassle. He would look at his health, it wasn't really going great, he was soon below 50% and the shark was still at its 2nd bar, and he hasn't been able to get a clean hit on it. He rushed forward and tried to get an attack off. He would jump up and end up right in front of it, getting in a pose to make his sword light up, he rushed for ward, bashing the shark's head with the false edge of the sword and then went by the head to then go to a stab into its leg, a successful <Dragon wing swipe>.

Eight Panel

He would disengage from attack range from the shark, but its speed was far superior. A tail swipe came towards him, smashing him hard to the side. The shark then disengaged with a dive into the water. Macradon was stunned, he wasn't fast enough to block the attack with i sword. Laying on the hot sand, waiting for the paralyze debuff to wear off. Again, he wasn't able to see the back fin of the shark.

'Don't tell me its regenerating again ...' he thought, still waiting for the debuff to vanish. The sand was soft, very nice and hot, if he wasn't trying to kill a massive shark, he could've easily been sleeping on here, it wasn't unpleasant at all. He glanced around the scenery, it wasn't bad really, a lot of detail has been put into this game, even thought it's just a death game, the amount of detail was amazing.

Ninth Panel

The debuff wore off, he was able to get up again and get into a battle stance. He thought, where would the shark attack from, it had so many angles it could attack from. He would get into an Alber stance and take a deep breath to prepare for the shark's attack. The Alber stance is known in historic fencing as a low stance, known as the "fool" because it's an idiot who goes into an Alber stance, not because it's bad, it's extremely effective, but it's annoying to face against when fencing. This stance would give him the upper hand for a black with his sword or a quick sidestep to an attack. He saw the back fin popping up from underneath, it was coming at a vast speed. He would try to see if he could predict its attack, where it would come from, low, high or middle. Macradon would notice its health bar once again.

'Dammit, it did regenerate' he thought as he followed the zig zag pattern the fin drew in the sand. He would look at the trail of sand, the dent he left in the sand behind it. It has an offset to the right, just quite, the speed looks like it would be able to go up into a high attack. He would stay in his Alber stance and prepare for the shark to jump up from the sand.

Tenth Panel

"There!" he exclaimed as the shark chose to jump up into the air. As he expected, a high attack. He would lower his legs to a lower stance, point the sword point up and give a hard thrust onto the shark, just behind the jaw. It would momentarily stop its advancing attack. He would finish the cut by pulling the sword down, slicing the bottom of the shark. He would then back away with a quick jump, but how stupid was that. As he was mid air, the shark's tail swiped him as flung him into a large rock.

'Paralyzed ... again' he thought, laying down there on the ground. Back to this motionless moment again, paralyzed by the shark skin. He would have to be more alert when trying to disengage. He might be able to take the damage without taking much in his health bar, but the paralyzing effect really does cripple him to a point where he doesn't have any ability to dodge anything. If the shark had minions, this battle would've been much harder, great that this is only a field boss.

Eleventh Panel

There, the paralyze is gone again. Macradon would jump up and get out of the AOE circle of the shark's attack. But there was one thing that he haven't noticed, the shark haven't circled around to channel its attack, what was going on? 'Where the hell is it' he thought as he would look over his shoulder left and right to locate the shark, but it was nowhere to be found. He would walk around, still alert, trying to find the fin jump up from the sand, he would walk in an area close to where he was stunned so he wouldn't reset the mob aggro. 'Scumbag' he thought as he saw the shark jump up again, it had been using its time to regenerate again. 'Is there no cooldown on that ability?' he thought as he would charge in with a Pflug stance, having his sword at the side of his hip and the tip pointed at the shark. As he got close enough he would dive down into a lower Neben stance and get a hard upwards slash onto the shark. He would follow the momentum of the slash to cleave all the way through the head and then hammer down on the shark's head. It would jump a few steps back from the hits but would the advance with some wrathful bites. It hit him thrice and all of them were targeted at his arms and hands. They weren't all successful in biting off the hands, but they did damage him and weaken him a bit.

Twelfth Panel

He would get into a vom Tag stance, a high stance, and make a downwards cut and then advance with a sidestep while slashing upwards again and then get into an open stance with the sword held at the far away from the shark, it would begin to glow as he would make the system move his body in a 360o turn and cut the shark in a broad swipe. 'Yes' he thought as he completed the <Cyclone> and saw that the shark's health points were already half way done. He should remember that the shark's attack pattern might change around here, maybe at its second bar or maybe first bar. Either way he had to get really aggressive and make the shark unable to attack with a flurry of blows. He would keep up the attack pace, hit after hit, but here was the problem, after his first hit, the hp was reduced to the second last bar, the shark began to shake and roar even louder than before, this was it, this was the change of pace he knew would come.

Thirteenth Panel

The shark would get out of Macradon's range and then lunge a side bash into him and jump back again, advancing with a tail swipe. Macradon got to block both of the attacks with his sword. This was the moment where the shark would wait a bit more before it would attack again, but no, new attack pattern. If kept on, trying to get a full bite off of Macradon. He would try to evade most of the attacks, but bites after bite was too much aggro for him to handle. The shark's jaws finally got close enough to Macradon. The many rows of teeth and the strong jaw would grab onto him on the side. The tight grip and the many teeth borrowed into his virtual flesh would slowly take down his health, tick after tick. 'Dammit, what have I gotten into ...' he thought as the shark vigorously swung him around in its jaw.

Fourteenth Panel

"Lots of bites, but no contact with the skin yet, great, I can still try to attack it" he thought as the shark's grip loosened enough for him to get out of it and escape it's vicious jaw. He would get into an Ochs stance and prepare for an advance, he wouldn't be able to handle the shark's quick moves and attacks, he had to go full offensive to maybe be able to beat this shark. He would charge forward, still in Ochs guard and engaged the shark. The shark would lunge out for a bite, but Macradon stopped up before he came into range. The shark's bite cam close enough for Macradon to start an attack chain. He would lunge forward from his Ochs stance and stab into the shark's head. He then used all his force to flick the sword upwards, carving up from where it was stabbed into.

Fifteenth Panel

'Your sword is your friend, do not go against it' he thought as he pulled the sword out of the shark's skull, he would let the sword flow along the energy, letting it swing over him and behind him, making him end up in a Neben guard. His sword would begin to glow as he would try to swing the sword upwards, giving it the best he could to cleave upwards. He would raise the sword, still preparing his sword art. He would raise it up, the shark mistook it as an attack and took a step back. As Macradon would lift up the blade he jump up into the air, letting the momentum take over as he tried to hit his <Avalanche>. He missed. The shark had taken another step back, as well as moved the head slightly, making it curve enough so the that the sword would not hit it. The shark had jumped far enough back to make a tail sweep, it targeted Macradon's torso. He would quickly jump down, flat on his stomach to evade the tail. Even though he had armor, a paralyze would make him lose more health because of the consecutive attacks the shark could make in the time Macradon was paralyzed.

Sixteenth Panel

This was getting more intense, the shark was swift and combined attacks against Macradon. All he could do try to dodge, or else he would be paralyzed and attacked, and maybe killed, he could not afford to be hit by the skin anymore, he had to focus. He would go into a Pflug guard and slowly walk towards the shark. Even though he should be taking the offense here, he couldn't allow himself to be too open to attacks from the shark. When he got into a comfortable range, he would stay in the Pflug guard, his sword would begin to glow. He rushed forward, coming from the side with his sword, trying to get a good cleave at the shark's head, but it jumped back. He would continue his attacks and finish his sword art with a stab, but the shark just jumped to the side. A failed <Dragon Wing Swipe>.

Seventeenth Panel

The shark would launch a smash with its head, trying to maul Macradon down to the ground. He would jump over the shark's head and land on the other side. The shark would use the force it had accumulated to swing back again into Macradon. He would raise his sword up and wait for it to hit him and push him back. He would hold his pose, having his sword covering his body and his feet still on the ground. He looked over at his health bar, it was getting low. He would keep on the pressure, trying to find a good spot to launch his final attack. At the moment, all he needed was to dodge and block incoming attack as much as possible.

Eighteenth Panel

He would get into a Pflug guard again. This was the best defensive guard he could use, not only does it threat the opponent, but it's also in a good angle to deflect oncoming attacks and then advance with a lunge direct attack or a riposte. In this guard, he would be able to see the shark's oncoming attacks and be able to react accordingly. He would keep on moving, never standing still, circling around the shark. Even though he thought to be on the offensive manner, he just couldn't because of his low amounts of health. If he were to go offensive, all he could do was attack and then get out of range and keep on going, not only would that still be a defensive way of fighting, but it would be just as slow as this one. He would keep in mind that the next attack he would deliver would be the final, when to land it however was never specified and he did not know if it would be sooner or later.

Nineteenth Panel

The shark lunged it with a bite, going straight towards Macradon. He would side step to the left and hold his sword to cover his body, having his hands up close to his head, leaning the sword diagonally downwards to give as much protection needed as he knew the shark wouldn't only do one attack and go away, he was certain something would follow up and he was right. The shark would then bash with its head into Macradon, pushing him backwards in the sand. His feet would not be able to maintain the grip so they would just give in and be pushed back. He was still standing, still having his sword in front of him as a shield. 'The tail' he thought as he saw it wiggle gently, he would prepare himself for a tail sweep, he knew it was coming. It was fast, faster than before. It went quickly through the hot dessert air towards Macradon. He would hold up his guard to protect him from the attack, but it was a feint. The tail stopped a few inches from his blade. It would take this chance to wind up and then turn the entire body the other way to make a harder, better, faster and stronger tail swipe.

Twentieth Panel

The tail came flying, smashing Macradon on his back and swung him into a rock formation. Somehow he wasn't paralyzed from the attack, lucky for him. He would quickly get on his feet again and wait for another attack from the shark. It would get out with another tail sweep, it was aimed low so Macradon could jump over it and dodge that would, if he could get away from damage he would. This battle was tough, really tough. It was close, if the shark would be able to get a paralyze off of Macradon, he would be shark lunch, but if Macradon could find an opening to launch his final attack, he would be the victorious. Macradon would feint in with a thrust towards the body of the shark and when he got close enough to thrust in, he would change guard into a Neben guard, catching the shark off guard for what it thought would happen. He would quickly try to pull this attack off with this final attack.
