[PP-F2] - Finding a Friend

Recommended Posts

Thorrissia, Goldenarroz

The city of Urbus was, in Thorrissia's opinion, not the most attractive of cities. The mountain air was chilly, the buildings had a harsh medieval appearance and there was not a huge amount of people milling around. Thorrissia loved everything about it though. The cold stilled her mind, giving her time to think and the lack of busy bustling was sort of tranquil and enjoyable. The young gamer was currently sprawled casually across one of the town benches, staring vacantly up into the sky. She'd finished up with grinding for today and found that there really was nothing much for her to do except lounge around or scavenge for stray food, so the girl had taken to resting in public places like some sort of dangerous but loveable homeless person.

Goldenarroz was casually strolling around and enjoying the scenery of floor 2. Recently, he's been spending a lot of time in floor 2 instead of floor 1 since his levels have reached a fair amount. Today, he just finished grinding in the cold of the floor and have been walking and enjoying the scenery of the floor before noticing someone taking a nap on a town bench. Well... That sure is strange. Goldenarroz thought as he walked up to the stranger. Normally there isn't much players on this floor. Goldenarroz reached the stranger to find that it was someone he knew from floor 1. Still, he was quite surprised to see her out in the cold like this. "Well, if it isn't Thorrissia." I spoke softly for her to hear and also with a casual voice. Normally, you don't see people hanging out in the cold because it was WAY too cold for any outside activities. But here she is, just sleeping in the cold. "She's going to catch a cold." I said as I looked around. I sat down in the town bench next to hers, deciding on what to do to ensure that she remains healthy in this virtual world of SAO.

Thorrissia's stormy eyes flicked south from the sky upon hearing her name being spoken softly into the misty wintery air. Standing in front of her, looking ever so slightly concerned, was a very familiar brown haired boy. The brunette girl slid stiffly into a sitting position as Goldenarroz claimed a bench next to her own in order to talk to him. A slightly puzzled smile made it's way onto her face as she curiously cocked her head slightly  to the side. "How is it that you and I keep bumping into each other in the most random situations?" The girl asked with a small grin, as her breath billowed away in a column of steam into the distant atmosphere. She was leaning casually against the bench rail, propping her feet unceremoniously upon the rail on the other side of her seating position. "It's good to see you Golden." Thorry stated with a large yawn, stretching her arms out in a wide windmill like circle to work some feeling back into her muscles again.

Goldenarroz remained silent. He watched as Thorrissia stretched to warm up her muscles. Warm isn't exactly a word used often here. "Feeling cold?" Golden decided to say. He wasn't very social. Well, not anymore anyways. He stood up and put on his black cloak which he changed on to enhance his mysterious factor.

[OOC I decided to change my character's characteristics a bit because the old Goldenarroz was too boring.]

Golden continued sitting, waiting for Thorrissia to wake up fully. He scanned the area. Of course, this place is deserted. Golden thought as he was unable to find anyone. Players or NPCs. He sighed as the cold got inside his black hood and black cloak. He was used to the cold, he could easily fight it, but Thorrissia probably wasn't on this mountain top. The cold never gets Golden. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the atmosphere which was clean and refreshing on the morning of floor 2.

Sure thing c:

"Feeling cold?" Thorrissia frowned, noticing something considerably more withdrawn about the boy. She wondered with some concern if something bad had happened to him since their last meeting. "Not really." The young gamer answered slowly, not really sure what to make of Golden's quiet behaviour.  "The cold doesn't really bother me. I quite like it really. Makes things easier to think." She explained with a slight shrug, still gazing at him critically, trying to analyse what the problem might be. There was certainly something different about him that was for sure. More sullen. Thorrissia swung her legs down from her bench and shifted casually from her resting place to sit next to the rather quiet looking Golden. "You ok? You don't look so hot." The girl inquired cautiously, not wanting to probe to far into his business, but still interested in what had kick started this sudden change in behaviour.

Ha. Not too hot. Gosh Thorry u and ur puns.

Golden stayed quiet inside his dark costume. "No, I'm fine." Golden answered quickly. "It's just that its really cold out here." Golden lied and pretended to shake. He felt uncomfortable here and decided to stand up especially after Thorrissia got up to sit next to him. When Golden saw a questioned face from Thorrissia, he quickly said, "Uh~ oh yeah. There is a pretty cool cafe around here. Wanna go? All on me." Golden became quiet after that and looked at Thorrissia for her answer. I hope she doesn't question my state too much... Bring too much memories. Golden thought. He still hadn't taken off his hood from the top of his head. Golden starts walking toward the direction of the cafe/tavern. It was kind of a mix. Kind of loud but very mannered and civilized for high-class players. We wouldn't quite fit in but I don't care really. Golden thought. I just need to go eat something to escape my troubles.

Whatever was up, Golden clearly didn't really feel all that up to sharing so Thorrissia wasn't going to push him for answers. Whatever had happened, it wasn't her business so there was no point poking around in it. Instead of making a show of noticing his brush off statements, the girl simply shrugged and agreed, "Yeah it's pretty cold. Going inside would probably be a good idea. A cafe sounds fantastic." The girl answered with a friendly tone at Golden;s suggestion, feeling a little hurt that sitting next to her freaked him out so much. You smell like a hobo what do you expect? An unpleasant voice in the back of her head snapped fiendishly at her weakness but Thorry just ignored it, pretending with alarming ease like the action hadn't phased her. "So, how's your grinding been going of late?" She asked him curiously as they walked towards the cafe door, trying to start a conversation. Socialising wasn't really her strongest suit, but hey, she tried her best.

Golden walked in the cafe with Thorrissia and suddenly everyone got quiet. He chose a table near the corner of the place where it was engulfed by a shadow. "I hope you don't mind, but I prefer to sit where I'm unnoticed. Feel free to order." Golden said and took a look at the menu and decided to go with a basic cup of coffee. He wasn't really hungry... or thirsty. Slowly, everybody's conversations started again and he just sat there when he was asked about his grinding. "Not too bad. I've been hunting some of the tough boys. Before you know it, I'll be in the front lines. Fighting bosses to unlock floors." Golden said softly. He took a sip of the coffee that had arrived before whatever Thorrissia had ordered. "I was wondering..." Golden stated quietly. Maybe it wasn't very gentlemanly to ask of this... "Where are you staying? Why have you been sleeping out there?" Golden finally managed to say hesitantly. He refused to take off his hood to reveal his face in public so he kept the dark hood on.

Thorrissia was actually more comfortable sitting in corners, although be it for a different reason. The fact that they both liked out of the way places to sit was nice; one thing in common. "Actually I prefer to sit in corners. It gives you the advantage on seeing who else is in the room. I like to observe people." She shrugged as they sat down in quiet little corner, not realising quite how creepy that sounded until it was out of her mouth. "Not like, in a weird way!" Thorry added quickly, blushing a little bit at her own stupidity. "I just- prefer to know what's coming is all." She muttered with embarrassment, quickly snatching a menu off of the table and began pawing over it with a sudden interest. When Golden mentioned how grinding was going, Thorry was quite happy to have the subject changed. "Really?" She smiled as some of the pink faded from her freckled cheeks, ordering a strawberry milkshake from a passing NPC. "That's cool. Maybe I'll see you there one day. I've been saving up some money to buy a really good weapon off Oikawa. I hear he makes the very best so y'know. I thought I'd try and get hold of one. That way I'll actually be a threat in combat." The girl laughed, thinking over some of the embarrassing moments they'd both been flattened by various angry creatures. As her milkshake arrived, Thorry eagerly began to sip on the thick creamy liquid, revelling in the taste. "Wow, this is amazing!" She exclaimed gleefully. "Thanks for this by the way.

When Golden inquired about her sleeping conditions, the faint flush upon her cheeks began to go a little red once more. "Well, I um, y'know. Love outdoor camping." When Thorry smiled at him, there wasn't quite the same enthusiasm as before, making it clear she was trying to cover up the truth about her current living situation.

"You know, you can stay in my inn if you want. It's pretty cheap." Golden said. He could tell that Thorrissia was hiding something. "I may look mean, but this is only to intimidate my enemies. I am really nice to people I know." Golden said as he continued sipping his coffee to absorb the warmth of it. He looked at Thorrissia wondering what she would do if she continued to roam around. She would be sick. Golden realized. It'd be best if she finds shelter... a real one... soon. No use in being sick in SAO, would only cause a drag.

"Really it's nothing to do with you I promise. You seem like a really nice guy, and you're probably the closest thing I have to a friend in this place." The girl sighed, giving in and telling him the truth. "You see, the truth is, I'm saving up every single col I earn in order to buy myself that weapon I told you about, so at the moment I can't really afford to stay anywhere at all. Not until I get what I need at least." The brunette admitted, sipping awkwardly  at the dregs of her milkshake, slurping the contents rather unceremoniously loud out of the bottom of the cup. She felt kind of embarrassed telling people that she was actually completely broke. Back at home, in the real world, her family had been pretty well off, so Thorrissia wasn't all that used to going hungry, or sleeping in uncomfortable places. It was probably a positive learning experience.

"I see..." Golden replied. "Well, you can probably stay at my place... if you don't mind that is" Getting sick here wouldn't do anyone any good whatsoever so it'd be best. Golden looked around and felt a bit sleepy from the warmth of the cafe. He leaned on the back of his chair and tried not to fall asleep. He ordered another up of coffee because he'd been addicted to them recently. He had been trying not to sleep and instead he went out to grind day and night to get stronger and faster and eventually beat the game so everyone could get out. He'd been isolated from his 'family' and he wants to get back to them as soon as possible.

"Really?" Thorry asked in surprise, not really sure what to say. She felt rather touched by his kind gesture. That was the nicest thing anyone had offered to do for her. "That would be wonderful! As long as I wouldn't be intruding. I'd hate to inconvenience you." The brunette added hurriedly, not wanting to take advantage of Golden's generosity by hanging around in his place and being a nuisance. She could be a bit of a slob if left unchecked. "Thank you so much. That's probably the nicest thing anyone's ever offered me before." Thorry stated quietly, sipping the last remnants of her shake from its container as Golden consumed his steaming hot beverage. He really was a genuinely nice person.

Golden smiled inside his cloak and stood up. "Follow me." Golden said as he started walking toward his inn. The inn was pretty great. It was different from real life. Here each inn had different rooms so Thorrissia would be given privacy as well as him. He had a spare room that he haven't been using anyways. Why let the room go to waste? Upon arriving at the place, Golden allowed Thorrissia access to the room and showed her her room. "Well, I guess this is the place you'll be staying at until you get that weapon you wanted. It isn't the greatest, but... it'll have to do for now." Golden turned around and took off his cloak, revealing his handsome face that had been hidden in public. Golden walked to the bathroom and before going in, he said, "Make yourself at home!" After that, Golden walked into the bathroom.

Thorrissia eagerly followed her friend from the cafe, keen to see his place of residence. "Wow this place is pretty nice." The girl stated in awe as they made their way into the cosy building. The furnishings were simple, but neat and attractive. But best of all was it was clean and it was warm. Hell yeah, I'm going to love staying here. She thought happily to herself as they walked up the steps to her new inn room. "This. Is. Amazing." Thorry's jaw dropped at the sight of a soft feather mattress. A REAL mattress to sleep on. Ok, so maybe not a real one but that wasn't the point. The brunette instantly dashed over to the wonderful bed and dropped like a stone upon the covers, really quite happy to drown in bedsheets. "How can I ever thank you for this?" Thorry asked him with genuine gratitude, finding herself a little surprised that the boy beneath the hood was actually rather good looking. She'd sort of assumed he'd covered his face up because it wasn't too good to look at.

"Oh, it's no big deal." Golden replied. Golden looked out the window to see that it had gotten pretty late. "Wanna go out for dinner? There is a pretty good restaurant nearby, and it isn't very far."

[OOC the hotel is on f1 btw c:]

Golden closed the door behind them and locked it to ensure that no thief would enter before leading the way to the restaurant that he'd been talking about. "All on me!" Were Golden's words when he tried to put on his black cloak. After doing so, he exited the inn with Thorrissia for dinner. Upon reaching the restaurant. Golden ordered a rabbit soup which was what he always ordered whenever he came here. Golden looked at Thorrissia wondering what she would prefer to order and he'd pay for her. Of course, like always, other customers stared at Golden because of his strange outfit but after a while, they stopped staring and continued enjoying their food and drinks.

Thorrissia wasn't entirely sure what to say. Golden had been so incredibly kind to her and she wasn't sure how she'd ever repay him, although one day she most certainly would. The girl smiled warmly at him, feeling an exceptional rush of camaraderie to her fellow brunette warrior. "Dinner, would be fantastic." She stated with a devious grin, thinking over the wildly delicious foods that they were about to consume. Good god it was ages since she'd actually had a properly decent meal in this place.

The restaurant was not too over the top, but at the same time had a welcoming yet classy atmosphere. The sort of place that wasn't dead expensive but still served good food. The girl noticed a few people flashing Golden a couple of odd glances, clearly finding his cloak a little unusual, but the stares soon stopped and everyone returned to snuffling up their food once more. When the NPC waiter came over to the two of them, the young warrior was delighted to find that they offered steak. "So, you come here often?" Thorry asked Golden curiously after their orders had been taken, keen to make conversation with her host.

"This place is pretty good." Golden said after having a bite of his rabbit steak. "I like it, I don't come all the time but this place offers a lot of options." Golden looked around from the corner of the restaurant, studying al the other people in the restaurant, NPC or real players. Golden looked at the menu and decided to order something more classy and light so he decided to finally order a strawberry ice cream and have a chill. He closed his eyes as he took a spoon of his ice cream and swallowed it. The ice cream tasted extremely good, probably ten times as good as real life ice cream. Golden has enjoyed ice cream in the game as soon as he started playing. Ice cream was like joy to him and it was probably one of the most delicious deserts out there,  real life or in the game of Sword Art Online.

"I like it, I don't come all the time but this place offers a lot of options." With that statement, Thorrissia could certainly agree. She grinned delightfully at the steaming hot plate of steak and vegetables an NPC waiter placed in front of her, breathing in the mouth watering smell. "It certainly smells fantastic!" The girl agreed, ripping a great big bite out of her dinner and chewing ravenously on the sweet taste. This was the first real meal she'd ever eaten in game, as she'd mostly been surviving off of bread and water and the occasional cheesecake when chance permitted some luck, so being able to eat actual food brought true bliss to Thorrissia's stomach. "Thank you so much for this Golden. I really can't thank you enough. I promise I'll repay you at some point, although it might not be for a little bit." The brunette gave her dinner companion a small smile as he shoved a few spoonfuls of ice-cream into his mouth. "You know I'm actually lactose intolerant in real life. It's nice to be able to enjoy new things in here." Thorry laughed, nomming happily away on a pot of chocolate ice-cream.

"No probs" Golden said in response. He was feeling quite tired and waited for Thorrissia to finish her meal before yawning. "Well... I'm gonna go sleep." Golden said and paid the bills before walking out the restaurant door. Golden led Thorrissia to his inn room and said a good night before he went to his room and let Thorrissia go to her room [That didn't sound good...] He didn't bother changing as he slept in his bed. For some reason, he just could not fall asleep and didn't want to go get himself some water, afraid that he would wake up Thorrissia and tried really hard to fall asleep. Still, he was unable to fall asleep and just lay there thinking about things....
