Life 0 Posted July 8, 2015 #21 Report Share Posted July 8, 2015 When Life saw the way the nepent attacked Mai he felt rather sick to his stomach, he didn't enjoy watching people like her be tossed around like a rag doll.. However, Life was rather impressed by her resolute nature, even though the nepent knocked her to the ground she simply just stood back up and carried onward. It wasn't especially a bad thing for her to have such a strive, but it could be dangerous. He smirked and readied his katana in both hands, once this thing was dead he would be able to scold her properly. Life noticed the nepent had all its attention focused on Mai, which only made him more pissed off. How cruel the cardinal was to focus down the weak link. However he was just glad he was here to protect her. It was strange but for some reason Life felt a strong urge.. one that told him he needed to protect her at all costs. He wasn't sure wether it was her free spirit, her cuteness, or her drive to press on, all he knew was that she was unique and fragile, like a delicate flower caught inside the eye of a storm. He sprung from where he stood and twirled in the air summersaulting over the giant nepent as his katana cut through its back and trailed along the rest of its 'body' and landed beside her, this time more that ready to leap in front of harms way. He ended up behind the plant mob and brought his katana clean through the back of the creature cutting through it like butter the entire way down. He landed beside her rather gracefully; she stood there her mouth slightly agape wondering exactly how she was supposed to catch up to him let alone surpass his abilities. He seemed leagues beyond her and she knew it’d be an uphill climb the entire time if she were to go chasing after him, and she would go chasing after him. “I’ve got this…†the smaller girl assured her companion. Mai was not looking to be protected; she was going to protect others with her own two hands. Shay rushed forward and tried to attack the Nepent but it did everything it could to keep her away. It was angry; Life had masterfully injured it, and the thing was not about to play nice anymore. Many vines and whipping tendrils rushed at Mai and she was able to dodge many attacks until one sneaky vine crashed into her side. Life 0 Posted July 9, 2015 #23 Report Share Posted July 9, 2015 Life was prepared to take a hit from the thing but it just completely ignored him once again and sent a barrage of attacked towards Mai which just pissed him off even more. Life wasn't keen on it continually harassing her, she didn't even land a hit on it this time and it still attacked her. Life gritted his teeth and jumped in front of her as she was sent skidding back, placing himself well between them. The Nepent wasn't sure how to continue its assault and Life took it as his chance to strike, pulling his katana blade from his side and cutting it in an upwards diagonal, causing it to fall in the red and slightly stagger backwards. It was nearly dead now, and he knew at least that Mayuri would be safe for now. He hoped that no other mobs would show up to ambush them after this was over. He glanced over at her and felt at ease knowing she still had a resolute fire, burning brightly in her eyes. "You might be able to kill it at this health. Just make sure you let it attack me first, be opportunistic and victory will be yours, keep this in mind." It wasn't much, but he hoped some advice would help, hopefully he could teach her more but he wasn't sure if he was best fit for teaching others. Ariel had referred to him as a senpai, but it was only because he beat her in a first strike duel, he even let her have the initiative. 23514 BD: 5+2=7; Life manages to land a blow. The young man moved quickly and landed another attack on the giant Venus fly trap taking its health points down to the red zone; there was nearly nothing left to it! The girl didn’t notice that Life had looked back at her until he spoke and she looked over at him and nodded. “Right… I think I can do that,†she said. Mai watched and waited for opportunity; she followed the Nepent’s movements with her eyes until she found it. Quick as she could, Mai took off running. She turned her blade in as she weaved through the vines that shot at her. She dodged left, and slid right and found a clear path directly to the body of the plantlike creature. Mai bounded toward her opening and drove her blade into the base of the plant and thrust it upward using both hands. Shards broke from the thing and disappeared and it’s health counter fell. The girl scrambled back toward Life and turned to face the mob once she reached him. While her attack was strong, it wasn’t enough to take down the Nepent’s life completely. The thing hung on by one tine notch of health. The dark hair girl frowned realizing her efforts were not enough. “Sorry,†Mai apologized to Life. She had wanted to show him that she was capable, but she wasn’t able to prove it after all. 23553 BD: 9 CRIT! Mai Hits Nepent for +3 DMG MD: 5 MISS! Life 0 Posted July 19, 2015 #25 Report Share Posted July 19, 2015 Life prepared himself so that the nepent would attack him and so that his thorns would bring the nepents health down enough for Mayuri to finally kill it. To his disappointment the nepent completely missed him and went straight for her instead, he grit his teeth as he watched her strike back, she got the mob down to a sliver of hp but it was no good, she had failed. Life frowned as she apologised to him "It's ok, you did your best." He didn't have any intentions on letting the mob attack her again and so he lunged forward without another moments noticed and pierced the nepents face with his katana and cleaved its head open. The mob exploded into an array of pixels once again as Life turned back to face her and sheathed his blade. "Looks like we're done here then. Sorry about that. I didn't want to take any risks" He didn't feel to happy about taking her kill, maybe one day he'd make it up to her. Life checked the time and saw that it was going to get dark soon, not ideal considering it was still fairly early. Life exchanged the ovule through trade with her so she could hand in the quest. She really ought to have done better. In one swift movement, Life cut the thing’s head in two and it disappeared. He told her that he was sorry for stealing her kill but she just shook her head. She was glad he’d finished the thing off as she wasn’t sure how much more running she could do. The quest was near done, and Life handed her the ovule and told her that she’d need that. “yes thank you,†she said as she accepted it and put it in her inventory. Even though they were done, Mai did not want her companion to leave her just yet; it was starting to get later in the day, and she was nervous about walking to town alone. “Do you think you could escort me to finish this quest and then back to the square? When it got dark there was a lot of unseen opportunities for people to do things unkind. "I wouldn't mind. I think it would serve you well not to be out to late. Players like to get into all kinds of trouble when it gets dark, you should be wary of pkers" He walked to her side and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder "Well then we best get going. I don't really think anyone would pick a fight with us anyway" Life smirked and walked past her continuing down the path to head to town. He could faintly remember fighting a player before but it was in the blank spaces of his memory.. the name Kosan rung a bell. No he did remember. How could he forget that scene. He shook his head unable to accept that the person acting on that day was in fact him, he didn't believe it at all. He nearly died then as well, that was right... Mari nearly killed him after that. He had to use a teleport crystal to escape and then... thats right... it went dark... and he couldn't remember a thing after that. Link to post Share on other sites

She returned the ovule to the quest originator and was given a new weapon in return. She put it in her inventory deciding to look at it later so she would not take up more of Life’s time than she already had. He walked beside her and placed his hand upon her shoulder causing the girl to blush slightly. He told her that no one would be bothering them and then took the lead as he moved up the path. She skipped along after him making sure to stay close but not uncomfortably so. Eventually they reached her safety zone and she thanked him for his kindness. She was terribly glad he’d found her in the forest today, else she might have still been out there trying to kill off the damn Nepent. They said their goodbyes and she watched him as he left wondering if she might see him again. Life was kind and she very much hoped she would run into him again.
