Even though she had promised Life she’d master her skill, she’d done very little in way of doing so. It’d been months since she touched her workshop until today. She had finally gotten over nearly burning her shop down twice in a matter of a few days, and she wanted to keep her promise to the one she loved. Pulling out her crystal phials, she began to use them in her works. When she was done, she’d found she created two rather useful items: one, a nerve tonic, which she’d use post battle to fix anyone in distress over what had happened on the battlefield; the other, a perfect healing potion. Though they weren’t much use in battle, it was still better than anything she’d made thus far and could be of use to players who needed a fast pick me up outside of her own healing skills. Little by little, she would improve and get to where she needed to be. Mai was sure of it. She’d had finally leveled her profession up and managed to make something rather useful to add into her inventory. This gave the young woman hope that she wasn’t a totally failure as an alchemist, and the little ego boost that she needed to try her skill again. Pulling her crystal phials from her inventory, she set off to work on making her next batch of potions. As luck would have it, she managed to create something new: a perfect damage potion. She curled the bottle between her fingers and hugged it to her chest. She couldn’t wait to give it to Life. He always got the first perfect item of any new type she made. Tucking the bottle into her inventory, she couldn’t wait till her love come home so she could present him with his latest gift. If she kept this up, she had no idea what she’d be by the end of the week. Shay smiled at the thought of Life coming back to her being in her fifth rank by the time of his return. Sure leveling five ranks in under a week would be enough to prove she was keeping her word to him. With a silly grin upon her face, she pulled her crystal phials from her inventory and set to work on her potions. When she was done, she had made a +2 Damage potion. It wasn’t her best work, but she would find this useful the next time she was to go out hunting for materials or fighting on her own. She’d been crafting rather well thanks to her crystal phials that Teayre had made for her. But today, something was off. Maybe she’d been missing Life too much. He’d gone away again some days prior and she wondered what he’d been up to, but she tried to keep herself busy by doing her work. Yet, thoughts of the tall dark haired young man kept her far too occupied that afternoon, and all she managed to make was a nerve tonic. However useful hey were after battle, it would still do nothing for her in the midst of a fight. Mai needed to hurry to level five so she could make crystals to keep Life and others alive and well. This was good as there wasn’t much time before Life told her he’d return, and she wanted to show him how far she’d gotten in so little a time. This day’s crafting even gave her a Crafter’s Respite, which meant she would be able to craft again. She decided she would have a meal, and then use her new potion to get back to work. With luck, she’d be able to craft a few more items worth some to her endeavours. Taking the newly created potion, Shay cracked the bottle open and gave it a sniff, grinning as it smelled of lemon despite its amethyst jewel tone. Small bubbles tickled her nose, and she giggled once more as she deeply inhaled them. Drinking it all down, Mai’s crafting counter reset, and she went back to work using her trust phials. When she was done, her abilities greatly increased despite only making a pair of poison antidotes. She didn’t know how it was that she managed to crafts two perfect items and a rare that day but she would take it. It meant that she’d leveled up to four. Only one more to go and she’d be able to craft all the crystals she and Life would need to get them in and out of boss fights alive and safe. The thought that she’d finally be useful to the one she loved thrilled the young woman like nothing else and she decided that in order to get to where she needed faster, she was going to drink the two crafter’s respite she’d made to try and power level that day. It’d probably take her all day to complete what she needed, but the thought of being even just a little bit closer to her goal would make Shay terribly happy. Sipping the jeweltone liquid down, she giggled as the bubbles tickled her nose. Wiping her mouth on the sleeve of her kimono, Shay went back to work. She’d done well again, thanks to her crystal phials and made srveral concoctions that would be useful during her journeys in Aincrad. With only a little bit more till she reached level five and a day before her love would return, Mai knew she’d have to buckle down in order to achieve her goal. The girl was determined to achieve her goal so that she could finally start making crystals. She was even more determined to be useful when it came time for her to face floor bosses. The girl was aware that though there were several healers and many alchemists, she knew one more wouldn’t hurt, especially one willing to give her stock for free for the sake of saving as many lives as she possibly could. She drank down the crafter’s respite potion and watched as her counter reset itself. When it hit zero, she pulled her phials from her inventory and went back to making potions. When she finished she found that she’d made all usable items, AND she had finally ranked up to level five crafting. After all she’d done, Shay was exhausted. The girl flopped down onto the cool stone floor and lay there, not wanting to get up. Closing her eyes, she fell asleep there in her workshop and fell fast asleep.
