[OP-F2] Fort Valmort - COMPLETE!

Recommended Posts

Piera glanced in Beoreson's direction as he yelled out a question and shrugged, more to herself than to answer. Then she managed to hear Golden advise them to cover their ears. Before she could ask why, he let out a bellow that immediately attracted the skeletal guardian's attention. That must have been the Howl skill that Mack told him to use, she realized. Shaking off the ringing in her ears, the brunette nodded as Mack urged them on and she took advantage of the attention being on their party's two tankier members.

Darting forward, Piera lunged to try and stab the skeleton in his spine, figuring that it would do the most damage, only to miss her mark and strike nothing but the thin air that was where its ribs were just a few moments ago until a mighty axe had decimated them. "$h!t." She cursed to herself, trying to backpedal so as to not draw its ire to her. "Hope you have better luck." The spearwoman called to Beoreson, motioning for him to take his chance to strike. The blonde was right though, they were doing remarkably well in her personal opinion. The monster's health bar was already deep in the yellow and surely another hit or two would take it in the red if not finish it off completely.

Beoreson's HP:25-1

Skeletal Gate Guardian HP:10

The raven hared warrior charged fourth with a mighty war cry. Sadly for the warrior he managed to trip over the bone that Mack had knocked off the monster. The young warrior manage to find himself with his face firmly planted on the ground. "Oh, great I just love it when that happens." says the warrior as he gets up. The warrior then, begins to brush himself off. He backs up as not to draw any aggro, but if the monster thought he was a threat it would be sadly mistaken.

[Remember I have 5 damage mitigation... how much damage does the skeleton do? If it is anything 5 or less, I only take one damage.]

Golden smirked... he could probably end the battle if he was lucky and as he charged, his eyes gleamed with confidence. His rapier tilted to the side, reflecting light into the eyes of the skeleton. With a shrug and a smile of confidence, Golden strikes with his blade. Golden managed to successfully deal damage to the skeleton and thus, he was able to knock the remaining health of the skeleton's health. With another grin, Golden checked to see if he'd gotten any loot from that mob kill and he smiled when he realized that he'd gotten quite a bit of loot. He'll share the col with everyone else equally but he hoped that they won't mind him keeping the MATS.

OOC: Golden got the kill since the Guardian should have taken a combined -4 Bleed in Piera's and Beoreson's posts. :) The LD from Golden's roll was a 20, so Uncommon Loot. Fan out and search, LD greater than 10 finds the door. If no one finds it, we'll find it in my next post and head on down.

The Guardian managed a few more steps in the direction of Golden after the tank landed his blow, but it wasn't able to launch another attack as the combined bleed damage took its toll. With each step the a few more bones crumbled from the skeletal warrior until it collapsed in a misshapen pile at Golden's feet. Approaching the pile, Mack toed it with his foot. It certainly seemed dead enough. The hilt of the creature's sword was just sticking out of the pile. Retrieving the two handed weapon, Mack passed it up to the squad's tank to inspect. From the pile he also retrieved a yellowed letter, which he unrolled and read to the group.

"Uwain, you must hold the gate against these foul creatures that darken our forest nightly at the full moon. Do whatever you must, but do not allow them to breach the walls. If you can bring three of their skulls to the command post, we should be able to rid ourselves of them once and for all," the white clad warrior read aloud to the group. "Sounds like these soldiers were fighting werewolves, or something similar. Fan out and search for the entrance to the command post. I suspect it will be underground somewhere." Suiting action to words, Mack headed off for one quadrant of the courtyard, but found nothing.

Piera gave Beoreson a sympathetic smile as he too missed his target, right after delivering a fantastic war cry as well. She moved closer to offer her hand to help him up but he was already on his feet and her attention was drawn to Golden as he launched his own attack, which finished the skeletal guardian off for good, collapsing in a pile of bones and bright blue polygons. The brunette looked at the pile with curiosity, not having ever seen a monster leave behind remains before and approached as Mack sifted through the bones and retrieved a two handed greatsword that the monster had been wielding before handing it to Golden. She would've thought that the tank would get a nice enough last hit bonus loot but it was Mack's call after all.

What interested her more is what the blonde axe wielder read. Apparently the note had been addressed to the skeleton they had just dispatched and she frowned slightly, wondering if the skeletons were intelligent enough to draft letters and organize but then reconsidered at Mack's interpretation. Perhaps the letter had been written before they had all died and became undead soldiers. Shaking her head she sighed, "Werewolves, great. What next, vampires and mummies?" She hadn't thought that a game like SAO would have such things but werewolves were always popular everywhere so she really shouldn't have been surprised.

Nodding at Mack's instructions, the brunette woman leaned her spear against her shoulder as she walked in one direction and looked along the Fort's walls and squinted before noticing something. Using her Spear Skill, she slashed at some overgrown dead bushes that obstructed their goal. "Hey guys, I found something. I think this is it." She called out to her party, pointing with the blade of her lance.

Beoreson walk around in his quadrant finding nothing. He then, heard Piera say that she found the entrance. "Oh this is going to be fun, I haven't done a dungeon crawl since before I played VRMMOs. Back when tabletop games where common." states the raven haired warrior as he walked over to Piera. "Ladies first." says the young warrior with a bow. He then rubs his chin for moment, and comes up with an idea. "Mack that means you as well" says the raven haired warrior with a grin and anther bow.

This should be easy enough. Golden thought as Beoreson allowed Piera to go on ahead. I should've headed in first with my tanking skills. Golden thought, knowing to the lack of tactics sense of newbies... but that was to be expected. If they're new, they should have not much knowledge about combat in the game. Golden gave a swish of his hair, waiting for Piera to head in so the rest could get in. He took this time to check if his gear was in place and everything was on right including his armor and shield. Golden sighed, prepared for this dungeon raid... his main priority is to stop the mobs from inflicting damage upon the newbies that stood by his side. Hopefully, this doesn't become harder than anticipated. Golden thought, hoping that the dungeon wouldn't drag on too long since he had planned to get some material gathering done afterwards.

"No," Mack barked in a commanding tone, crossing the dilapidated courtyard of the long abandoned fort. He was not about to let Piera or Beoreson enter the fort ahead of himself or, especially, Golden. The simple fact of the matter was that, with the group now occupied with the dungeon having reached their objective of the fort in the first place, there was absolutely no point to having a player capable of tanking if the group wasn't going to permit the powerful warrior of filling the role. Crossing the rest of the distance to the group, Mack considered Beoreson through narrowed grey eyes and scowled.

"There's no point in having a quality tank if we don't allow him to lead," Mack said, kneeling to paw through a small lumber stack near the entrance to the tunnel. Sure enough, near the bottom of the stack there were several torches. Separating out one for each member of the group, Mack passed them around to each player in turn. "Golden will lead, followed by myself, Piera, and you," the axe-man continued, standing up and pointing to each member of the party in turn. "Light your torches and let's move out."

Piera let out a weak chuckle and tugged on her bangs as Beoreson mentioned this being like old table top games. Like she played. And now she felt old. She'd thought that Beoreson looked about her age or older but she wasn't too good of a judge as far as ages were concerned. The brunette's eyebrow raised at the swordsman's chivalry and though she chuckled a little at the jab at Mack, shook her head. Besides her personal trepidation about going into a dark creepy dungeon first, it wasn't tactically sound to put her at front.

"I don't-" She began to say before Mack's deep voice called out a sharp and commanding, "No" that caused her head to turn as he walked to them. Their party leader voiced her thoughts and she nodded in agreement, holding a hand open towards him as if to say, 'y'see?'.

The spearwoman took the unlit torch from the blonde man and nodded, motioning for Golden to enter. "Forge onward valiant meat shield." While the others went on ahead, she attempted to figure out how exactly to light her torch. It took her a bit, but she finally managed to get it by the time Golden and Mack had entered, quickly following behind them.

Beoreson was slightly surprised to hear that tone from Mack. Beoreson having heard that tone from people knew that he should probably follow what he was saying. The young warrior started getting ready to g.. He noticed that he had some SP left, so he spent it on sword skill. He then, lit his torch and took his place in the line up. "Well, time to go slay a Lich or something just as evil. Hope it drops a +1 sword of insanity. Or maybe a horn of berserkers.", states the young warrior, he then, continues saying many different treasure names for a while, not many of them making much sense.

[I guess I'll just spawn in some mobs then.]

Golden led the way through the doorway into a dark area that probably held some mobs. He looked around, cautious of what was around when he took a heavy step that caused the place to light up. Cyclopes. He realized as his vision became clear once again. Argh... He thought in annoyance at the two cyclopes that suddenly stood side-by-side, prepared to attack. "Cover your ears guys... and prepare to attack." He said with a smirk before getting his voice ready for a howl. Eventually, he let it go, a gigantic howl, allowing the cyclopes to focus on him and only him. Not bad of a howl. He thought as he prepared to take damage.

The cyclopes, annoyed at the fact that it had been bothered from its sleep. It stood up to show its size and prepared to bring down its club on the boy that had woken him up. The cyclopes charged at the boy with its foot instead of its club, landing the foot right into the thorns of Golden's shield. Hmph. He thought as he was pushed back against the wall from the force.

Golden, having just been struck against a wall, had just been attacked once again by the other cyclopes with its club. Golden yelped in pain as he fell down from the wall after the attack. This is annoying. He thought as he stood back up, completely ignoring the pain that came from the attack.

Cyclopes: 30/30

Mack followed Golden into the dungeon after lighting his torch, the fire from the tool casting a red-orange glow on one side of the snow white face mask that made up his armor. As dark as it was in the tunnel, the big axe man was grateful for the torches as they provided some illumination to help the group see the way. As Golden emerged into a small chamber the area abruptly lit up in full to reveal two cyclopes standing at the far end of the small chamber, guarding the exit that would allow the group to continue on. The blonde brute was pleased to note that Golden didn't need to be told to howl, the lead warrior simply cut loose with an ear splitting roar before charging in and drawing the attention of the guards.

"Focus on the one that tried to squash Golden," he barked at Piera and Beoreson. Then, suiting action to words, he dashed into the cavern and raised Guillotine high over his head. As the two one-eyed monstrosities focused all their attention on Golden Mack brought his axe down in a vicious chop that slammed into the back of the cyclops that he had also told Piera and Beoreson to focus on. The sooner the group downed the first one, the sooner they could move on to the second. As Mack ripped his weapon free from the beast's back it left a long, deep gouge that bled freely. Taking a few more steps back, he cleared a path for Piera and Beoreson to follow suit.

Piera chuckles at Beoreson stated his hopes of slaying a Lich or creature of equal evil before listing a long line of things he hoped said monster would drop. "Why would you want a sword that would drive you insane??" She asked with amusement in her tone, glancing back at the swordsman before her head whipped around as Golden told them to cover their ears and ready themselves. Seeing that he had entered the end of the tunnel that spilled into a bigger and somewhat dark area, she hurried forward, glancing around before stuffing her torch into a dusty cobwebbed sconce.

Getting into battle position, the brunette learned her lesson from last time and held her spear in the crook of her elbow while she plugged her ears with her fingers, wincing slightly still from the echo of the tank's howl bouncing off of the walls, immediately drawing the attention of two cyclopes in front of him. The closest one actually brought up a foot to try and stomp down on him and the brunette actually felt a sliver of fear for the higher leveled player, but she needn't have worried as he used his shield to block and push the brute away, getting backed against the wall in the process. Which the second cyclopes took advantage of, swiping Golden with its club which knocked him down with a yelp. Her eyes immediately flicked up and to the left to check his HP and was relieved to see that he'd only taken two damage total, likely due to his superior armor.

At Mack's barked orders, she nodded and replied, "Got it." Following quickly behind the axe wielding blonde, Piera darted forward with spear in hands. Taking note of the deep gash that Mack had dealt, the brunette extended her lance to stab at the already bleeding wound, not quite hitting her mark, but exacerbating the bleeding at least. She jumped back immediately to give Beoreson room to switch in as well as to stay out of the mob's agro area.

"Well, I would go and give it to one of the creepy cloaked guys out side of the city." The warrior says with a chuckle. "No, it's a joke about a very old game system. It used to have crazy magical items in it." He then, covered his eyes as Golden had directed. He saw Piera rush forward and further the bleeding in the monster. They then, switched out, which was different for the young warrior as it usually was just everyone gang up on it then, hit it with you're weapon. "My turn" the young warrior thought to himself, as he rushed towards the cyclops. He raised his ninjato over his head and slashed at the cyclops that had just smashed the tank. He cut the monster's right leg with the blade. After, cutting the cyclops he moved behind the monster to flank it.

Golden had recovered from the impact of the wall at this point... He stood up and looked as the rest of the party either missed or hit the target... But that didn't matter because it was his turn. He smirked before running toward the cyclopes that would soon take quite a bit of damage from his attack. His sword soon hit the mob and this mob tried to retaliate with the club. Golden watched in awe as the cyclopes rose its club before striking down. Golden prepared to take damage but somehow the mob managed to miss an open target. Nice job mob. Golden thought before looking at the other cyclopes.

The other cyclopes rose his foot when its partner was hit by the player. It charged toward Golden before raising its leg and trying to kick him. However, unexpected and obnoxious to the mob, Golden was smiling under the shield that prevented extreme damage to the player. Golden had been hit but the attack wasn't much of any damage honestly. He smiled when the mob realized that it's foot had been hurt massively with thorns and thus it jumped up and grabbed onto its foot with both its hands. Argh. Golden thought as he sniffed his shield.

Stepping back and taking his place in the formation of warriors surrounding the two cyclopes, Mack watched through narrowed grey eyes as first Piera and then Beoreson darted in to launch their strikes, with the latter warrior succeeding in landing a hit. Then Golden jumped back into the fray and dealt a punishing blow to the lead cyclopes that was currently the target of the team's combined attacks. One or two more good blows would kill the creature, as its health bar had already been pushed down into the red zone. Following on the heels of Golden, Mack stepped firmly into his place in the circle and launched a horizontal chopping attack towards the one-eyed brute. What he hadn't counted on was the massive creature doubling over as a result of Golden's landed blow which caused the blade of Guillotine to sail well over the head of his enemy.

After Piera jumped back to allow Beoreson to switch with her, he managed to slice its' leg successfully, her head nodding in approval that at least not all of them were missing. She then noticed that their tank was finally standing again, seemingly recovered from the rough blow he'd gotten before. Took him long enough though. Golden managed to score a hit on the more injured of the two monsters, the first missing the tank terribly before its brother retaliated ineffectively by kicking his shield before retracting immediately with a wail of pain. Apparently his shield had thorns. They were really determined to squash Golden into the ground. Puffing a breathy laugh from her nose, the brunette circled the mobs as she waited for Mack to go in for his own assault and ran around behind the first cyclops before seeing the blonde's axe go swinging right over the monster's head She grimaced in sympathy before taking advantage of its vulnerable position and stabbing into the thigh of the leg it was standing on. It was a solid hit (for her) and she was fairly sure that it would start bleeding soon. Piera yanked her lance out of the cyclops and sprang backwards, calling out to Beoreson, "Switch."

Beoreson said, "Okay." as he switched out with Piera. He took his sword and, slashed at the cyclops. The attack was blocked by the monster and, with a roar the monster slammed it's club down where Beoreson was a mere second ago. The warrior had dodged out of the way of the attack and, he backed away to avoid drawing any more aggro. "Well that didn't go as planed." mumbles the warrior as he watches the cyclops get ready to attack there tank.

Golden charged forward as the other players finished off their turns. Let's finish off the red zoned cyclopes. He thought as he struck it with the sword he loved with all his heart. bye. He thought casually with a sense of arrogance about it. The cyclopes dissolved in pieces as it's life point reached zero. "Well..." Golden said as he turned around. "Anyone want the material?" He asked, not really wanting the loot from the mob.

Golden didn't realize that there was indeed another cyclopes that was lurking and searching for revenge of its partner. It rose up its foot and attempted to step on Golden... not mentioning that it was indeed successful in the attempt. Golden smirked however when he'd been hit as the damage was little to none and he had inflicted damage using the thorns on his armor.

Checking his stat bars, Mack noticed that he had leveled up and entered, quickly, into his player menu as Golden was finishing off the first of the cyclopes. With a few quick finger taps, Mack dropped several of his skill points into increased damage for his axe and he looked up just in time to see Golden shattering one of the cyclopes into pixelated nothingness. With only one target left to strike, the choice was easy. Mack dashed forward and tomahawked Guillotine over his head. The bladed head of the razor sharp bearded axe slashed easily into the thigh of the massive one eyed monster. With a savage jerk, Mack pulled the weapon free and slipped back into his place in the formation.
