(SP-F2) Hes Just a Poor Boy, From a Poor Family <<Let There Be Light>> (COMPLETE)

"Where the hell am I..?"

The ginger haired man found himself far from the city of Urbus where he first began his journey. He crossed his arms and looked around at his surroundings, not recognizing the layout at all. It seemed like there may have once been a fortress of some kind in the area.. but all that remained where large misplaced stones, some still forming tall walls, while others were dug into the ground. He lifted up his hand in front of him to open up his menu, and checking his map, he was able to figure out how to get back to the main city. However, the area peaked his interest.. so he figured it wouldn't hurt to explore a little bit. With his hands in his pockets and an owl on his shoulder, Jomei began to take a small tour through the remains of the chateau.

He looked around at what remained of the mossy stone walls in amazement, wondering just what the programmers had in mind for such an area. Maybe there was something in the lore of the game about an old fortress just out side of Urbus.. it definitely seemed to match with the theme of the floor.

"Help!"

Jomei's eyes widened as he circled in his place, trying to pinpoint where the voice came from.

"Someone please! Help!"

Jomei pinpointed the voice, which was that of a woman, just due North of his position. Pulling his Summerthorn out from its sheath on his waist, Jomei used the added speed from his <Sprint> skill to dash forward to assist the woman in danger.

Quickly weaving through the various pieces of stone and trees that stood in the area, Jomei closed in on the woman's position. After one final turn around a large standing wall, Jomei saw a a woman looking helpless. She was sitting on the dirt, her legs out to the sides, and her face buried in the palms of her hands. The muffled sound of wailing and sniffling could be heard coming from her. Jomei slowed his run to a walk, and he slowly walked up to the woman, squatting next to her. "Was that you crying help ma'am? Is everything alright?"

The woman picked her head up out of her hands and slowly turned to Jomei. Her dark eyes were red and glossy from crying, and the features on her face could lead one to think she may have been slightly older than Jomei. "Y-Yes.. *sniffle* Its my son. He was playing hide and seek with his friends in the ruins.. *sniffle* a-and he went into this cave to hide... A-And..." she could not help but break down crying once again. Jomei placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I understand ma'am.. I'll take care of it." Just then, a small gray box appeared in front of Jomei's face. He blinked, reading what it said on the box. It was a quest box.. and he must have just initiated the mission. He looked over to the woman and noticed her lack of cursor.. she must have been an NPC and the quest giver. He got up to his feet and looked into the mouth of the cave, hitting the accept button on the quest.

<<Let There Be Light>> "Accepted"

Jomei clenched his sword in his hand, and looked up to the owl on his shoulder and nodded. He then slowly entered the mouth of the cave to find this lost child. Standing just within the entrance, Jomei stood still to listen. The sound of water dripping.. very slowly.. through a crack in the stone ceiling could be heard, echoing from farther off. He also could have sword he heard some sort of high pitched wailing of some sort.. but he could not be certain. The cave itself, being out of the sun and, according to the cracks where water may be seeping through, there seemed to be some sort of cool airflow. He took his first steps in the cave on the search for this missing child.

"Hello?"

The man's words were met with echo after echo, traveling down the dark tunnels of the cave. Light was diminishing from the insides of the cavern, and quickly. Soon, Jomei would barely be able to see where he was going. He hoped this cave would not be too large, or it would be nearly impossible to find this kid. He let out a heavy sigh before looking forward again, squinting and hoping his eyes would adjust to the little light. As he looked around the tunnels, his mind began to wander about all of the things he had been too busy to contemplate. He began to think about the upcoming boss raid, his role in The Velvet Room and finding new members to support their cause, as well as the disappearance of Carmine. He looked upwards at the ceiling with a sad look on his face, knowing that this was going to be a long search.

"What do you think she's up to Adere?" Jomei asked, his head turned towards his owl companion. "You think she's alright?" The owl looked at Jomei with its large eyes, tilting its head to the side. It let out a soft cooing noise, almost as if replying to Jomei's question. He could not help but laugh and pet the bird on her head gently.. "Yeah. You're right. I'm sure she's fine.. and I'm just worrying myself too much.." The owl then flapped its wings and made another, happier sounding coo noise. Jomei returned with a soft smile to the owl, closing his eyes and looking down. "Yeah.. I really like her too. I'm glad you approve." Jomei looked forward and groaned, "What am I doing? I'm talking to an owl..." With a slightly angered expression, Adere opened her wings wide, smacking Jomei in the face with the back of the feathered wing. "Gah! I-I'm sorry!"

Jomei's ear's perked up when he thought he heard the high pitched whining noise again. This time, it was louder, and much more apparent. It had taken both jomei and the owl by surprise, but Jomei shrugged it off. "Im sure it's just a bat.. nothing to really worry about." he said with a chuckle. A moment later, another sound came pouring from deeper in the tunnels.

"Somebody help me!"

Jomei's eyes widened, it was the voice of a young boy, and he sounded like he was in danger. Without thinking, Jomei activated his <Sprint> skill and charged forward through the caves, not sure where he was going because of the darkness before him. His teeth were grit as he ran forward, hoping he would find the kid before someone else found him first. Jomei's body was then hit with a sudden thud, knocking him back off of his feet. Something had crashed into him, it felt somewhat softer like a body.. he knew he could not have run into a wall. Looking up from his spot off of the ground, Jomei saw, hovering above him a giant-like creature. It was staring down at him with piercing red eyes, ready to attack the player that just tackled into its body

Jomei skid against the ground, looking up at the monstrosity that flew just above him. It has to have been a little bit shorter than him, but its wingspan was about three times his. Jomei quickly shot to his feet and grabbed his rapier off of the floor.

Jomei quickly shot to his feet and grabbed his rapier off of the floor. In the same motion, Jomei pulled his sword back and activated a sword skill, causing his sword to glow gold."Get the hell out of my way!" Locking onto the enemy, the system launched his body forward as he used his Accel Stub technique, thrusting his rapier into the torso of the bat three times. With a loud screech, the bat staggered backwards from the strength of the technique.

As the bat fell hovered backwards, Jomei kept up on the assault by charging forward again. He swiped his sword in a downwards motion, but the bat was able to recover fast enough to dodge it. Growling under his breath, he pulled his sword back and attempted another slash at the beast. Again, his sword just missed its mark. Damn.. its fast.. The bat then lifted its body up and attempted to grab at Jomei's arms with its razor sharp claws on the ends of its feet. Jomei dove backwards, rolling out of the way of the enemy's attack. The bat looked like it was taking a defensive position, making it tough for a direct approach. Using his <Acrobatics> skill, the ginger player leapt at the wall next to the bat. Kicking off of the wall, he pushed himself into the air above the low flying enemy and activated his Above skill. As his sword began to glow gold, he sliced his sword downwards on top of his enemy's head. As the bat hit the ground, it slumped over, crashing into the wall, its body stunned from the attack.

Once Jomei's feet hit the ground, he spun to see that the bat had been paralyzed from his Above skill. He was planning on taking the time to do some real damage to the bat during this time, but figured he should catch his breath first. He had just executed two sword skills in a row and needed a moment to regain his stamina. He took a deep breath as he glared at the bat, with its twitching wings, trying to regain its movement. "Be careful Adere.. Don't go trying anything rash just because you can see well and I can't.." he spoke to his owl companion who was hovering somewhere above Jomei's head.

The flapping of the bat's large wings suddenly came to a stop. The only thing the irishman could hear was the sounds of his own heavy breathing. Whenever he thought he heard something, he would quickly jolt in that direction with his rapier at the ready. It was toying with his senses.. trying to catch him off guard. Jomei took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trying to release his worries and focus on where this bat could have been hiding. When he opened his eyes again, his breathing had slowed and he was ready to take it on once it revealed itself.

Jomei's ear twitched when he heard the subtle sound of pebbles and dirt falling to the ground behind him. Realizing its position was given away, the bat let out a loud screech as it swooped down to Jomei's position. The sharp claws on its feet were stretched out and ready to grab at the man's shoulders, planning to pin him to the ground. In the same moment, Jomei span his body around, activating his Quadruple Pain sword skill. It revealed that his eyes were glowing with yellow crosshairs around his pupils.. this was an indication he had activated his <Concentration> skill to find the location of the bat. As his sword began to glow its bright gold aura, he quickly thrusted his blade forward a number of times, each time piercing the bat in a different position on its body. As he pulled his sword back, the stunned bat dissolved into white data crystals. He let out a sigh of relief as he spun his sword in his hand. All that was left now was to hopefully find this boy.

With a sharp whistle, Jomei called his owl companion to his side. Adere, who was flying around the top of Jomei's head, hovered over to Jomei's shoulder where she rested. After taking a few moments to recollect himself after the fight, Jomei scratched the owl on the side of the head. "I need your help.. I'm.. not exactly sure which way is forward after that fight. Since you can see, can you lead me further into the cave?"  Because of the darkness that surrounded them, Jomei had lost his direction. Originally, he had told himself to keep facing forward during the fight so he would not have to deal with this.. but being the fight was a confusing one because of the limited visibility, it was a tough thing to follow. The owl hopped off of his shoulder and took to hovering once again, leading Jomei down the corridor to his side.

Because of the darkness all around him, Jomei was barely able to follow the shape of the owl flying slowly in front of him. He was basing Adere's position solely on the sound of her wings flapping in front of him. He had no idea how long he had been walking for, but it felt like it had to have been at least twenty minutes since he first entered the cave. Why would this kid run so far into a dark cave..just from playing hide and seek? From the looks of the ruins around the cave, there could have been plenty of safer places for the kid to hide. With a heavy sigh, Jomei continued forward in the search for the boy.

Not only was darkness covering Jomei, but silence began to fall as well. He must have been far enough away from the entrance where  he could not hear the noise of the outside world polluting the inside of the cave. The only sounds keeping him from going insane was the sounds of his own footsteps and Adere's wings flapping in front of him. That changed, however, when Jomei heard and echoed scream coming from much farther in the cave. He sharply inhaled a shaky breath as he flinched, it sounded like a younger voice. It had to be the boy he was looking for. "Adere, full speed. Lets go!" Angling her body and increasing her height, the owl took off at the fastest speed it could go. Jomei followed, suit, taking a runner's stance and launching off of his back foot, using his <Sprint> skill to propel himself forward.

After running through the slightly winding tunnels of this cave, Jomei began to hear a familiar screeching noise, accompanied by pained screaming. Gritting his teeth, Jomei pushed is bodies to the limits to move his feet as fast as he could. He noticed up ahead Adere taking a sharp left turn, which would be much tougher for Jomei who could not see. He lowered his body to the ground and turned on his heels, his boots scraping against the ground, slowing his body. Once he could tell he was clear of the corner of the wall, he took off running again to catch up to his owl.

It was not long before he could see figures in front of him of what seemed like a large bat like creature and a humanoid figure cowering on the ground in front of it. Jomei reached across his body, drawing his rapier from its sheath once again. Activating his basic Linear sword skill, the system launched Jomei forward like a rocket, his sword piercing straight into the body of the Giant Bat. The force of Jomei's body threw the bat backwards, knocking it away from the young boy it was attacking. Jomei's feet hit the floor and he skid to a stop.

The bat turned its body to it was able to push itself up back into a standing position. As it pushed itself up into a standing position, Jomei noticed that this bat was larger than its friend that he disposed of earlier on in the cave. Standing at full height, it was only slightly shorter than Jomei, with a wingspan that took up most of the cave's width. Leaping backwards, the bat brought its large wings together with a powerful clap, creating a gust of wind. The irishman brought his arms up into an X position to block the oncoming wind from throwing throwing him backwards. The bat took this as an advantage to fly forward, tackling Jomei with much force. As it did so, it latched its large fangs into Jomei's neck like a vampire would. Letting out a loud grunt, Jomei twisted his body, pounding the bat in the chest with his shoulder. Now with the bat at arms length away from him, he activated his Rip Ravine sword skill. His rapier swung to the side horizontally, leaving a large red gash across its chest, he then brought the sword back across its body, diagonally up to its shoulder, creating a V shape on its side.

Jomei reached his hand up to grab at his neck, where the bat's large fangs had delved into his flesh. He flinched and grit his teeth, despite not feeling pain in this game.. it was not a fun feeling to know you had two giant holes in your neck. Green orbs glared back over to the bat that was breathing heavily in a slouched over position, its wings partly extended. Bringing his hand down from his neck he shifted his weight into a defensive position, ready for the bat's next attack. Suddenly, the monster charged forward, flying at Jomei. Waiting until the last minute, Jomei used his Above sword skill to propel his body up into the air above the bat. His sword then swung down on top of the bat's head, causing it to crash into the ground below him.

The giant bat seemed to recover itself from Jomei's attack much faster than he thought. As it flipped itself onto its back using its wings, it lifted itself up and flew upwards into the darkness. Moments later, the bat returned back to the earth, digging its talon like claws into Jomei's shoulder. Just as it did with its teeth, it latched into place and would not let go. The ginger haired man looked up at the bat's piercing red eyes with a pained look, which soon turned into a smirk. He reached over with his free hand and grabbed at the ankle of the bat, keeping it from leaving even if it wanted to. He then clenched his summer thorn in his hand as it began to glow its gold aura. With a yell, Jomei thrusted his rapier upwards, catching the beast in the abdomen. After pulling his sword back, he pushed forward again, this time catching it in the right breast, and finally again in the abdomen. The bat let out a loud screech that filled the caverns as it pulled at Jomei's shoulder, digging the flesh off of his shoulder and leaving a large chunk missing, all lined in bright red and white. With a pained scream, Jomei took the bat, who he was still holding by the leg, and slammed it into the ground. As a small dust cloud kicked up from the large body smacking into the floor, Jomei stepped backwards, grabbing at the huge wound on his right shoulder.

The bat seemed to not be going anywhere.. it was too busy digging itself out of the small giant bat-sized crevice its body had made when slammed into the floor. Jomei, still grabbing at the wound on his shoulder, fell to his knees breathing heavily. His head slouched over as he looked down at the ground. Just like before.. He knew that the pain was not real.. he could not feel it. But a whole damn chunk of his shoulder was missing... he knew it would regenerate back in time..but still. "Gah.. [censored]!" he yelled through grit teeth. Just the idea of knowing how it would feel in the real world caused him mental pain. The small owl lowered its hover from above Jomei to look at its friend to make sure he was okay. Jomei returned the look with a pained smirk, "Its okay lass... I'll be fine.." He looked over his shoulder to the young boy who was cowering in fear, "Hey kid.. I'll get you back to your mum.. I promise."

Jomei grabbed at the back of his cloak removing it from his other shoulder, he brought the cloth under his arm, and threw it over the wound, repeating a couple of times until it was secure. He knew it would not do anything to bring his health back up, or make that arm completely usable during this fight.. but not being able to see it would help get the jitters out of him so he could finish off this bastard. Looking over to the bat's position, its body was fully out of the ground. Picking itself up to stand on two legs again, pieces of stone and dust fell from its body, its red eyes staring into Jomei's very soul. Jomei tried to clench his rapier in his right hand.. because of the.. 'lack of shoulder' .. he could not grab it with enough strength. With a light sigh, he switched the sword over to his left hand, which he had never tried before. Standing in an awkward battle stance, the bat took the first initiative, taking flight and charging at Jomei. Moments before the bat could latch its teeth into the man, he activated his Rip Ravine skill, slashing another V cut into the bat's face. White pixels rained into Jomei's body as the bat disintegrated into nothingness.
