[SP-F1] Secret Medicine for the Forest (Complete)

Recommended Posts

If there was ever one thing that drew her insane, was how almost every player had managed to receive the exclusive Anneal Blade, a one handed straight sword. As a rapier user, she had no use for that sword, but she had rumors that it would be best to complete every quest leading up to the floor raid, just in case they gave an advantage. For this quest, however, she was just here for the item, as she did not want to be left out, as the only player who has never received it in the past. This was her motivation, and also gave her a chance to visit the first floor while she has it. She knew the quest was not going to be hard for her, and it would take her relatively easy to finish.

Rebekah knew that she had to retrieve three nepent ovule in order to finish this quest, and it was in her best interest to find them right away. She was not going to waste much time over these, but knew that once she fought three monsters she would be able to find them shortly after. She had to look for little mobs called Little Nepents which were really weak, and this quest was not going to pose any difficulty at all. As she walked along the path to the location in which they will find those mobs, she took out her rapier and looked for a suitable target, but there was nothing in sight, perhaps she had to look a little deeper.

As she made her way towards the location, she could not help but notice a little nepent off to the side of the path. She did not hesitate to strike it before it could deal damage back towards her. After all, these were mobs that she could care less about on a regular day, as she would not gain the experience that she would typically get but who cares about that today. The important thing for her was this quest that she was facing at the moment. This was a perfect moment to practice the simple skill "linear" which she was going to need to perfect as fast as possible, as it was the easiest rapier skill that she knew.

Just as simple as that, she had already retrieved the first of three nepent ovule, required for the quest. This was another typical boring day and she was on the first floor to boot, nothing was going to happen today. That was a bummer, as she wished to train for the next boss raid, and not slack off like she is right now. She had a lot to learn and grow, as she was not as strong as what she wanted to be, but she was relatively powerful compared to the rest of the raid group. She found another nepent up ahead. She immediately attacked with another linear strike, simple but effective especially on this floor. It was going to take a while before anything was going to give her any trouble today.

Two down, one to go, was what she was thinking inside her head, but she knew that the last one was always the most difficult. It was going to take some time, but she hoped that everything was going to go smoothly today. The girl easily located the third nepent, and made her way towards it, if she could get all the items that she needed, then she will have collected her straight sword, which was worthless, but she viewed it as a collector's item that almost every player had before, but her. As a rapier user, it was useless, but it was still better than nothing. That had failed to go as plan as she telegraphed her movements that she was after it.

It had been a while since she had missed the easiest attack she knew, "linear". That was an issue that she had to fix as soon as possible before it grew out of hand. What could she possibly have done here, was up for debate, but she knew not to be discourage and all moody from missing a single strike. It happens to the best of them, and she just had to accept that and try again. She could not let her emotions tilt her into a trainwreck, and she had to keep them in tact. There were too many player's who emotions control their actions, and she did not want to let that happen to her that easily. But something about this nepent is making her miss both of her simple attacks. She knew she had to try seriously now.

That nepent would still not die, which was a problem. She had missed two linear strikes at it, and she was worried about the third as well. There were a lot of things to take into consideration in a battle, but neither had an terrain or environment advantage, so that should not work against her. Maybe it was just statistical luck, that was not working for her today, but she did not know what the answer was. There was a thing that she had not considered yet, perhaps she was burnt out from all the work that she has been attempting lately? But that was enough, she had to finish it now, and easily struck the nepent with a simple linear combo. Time to move on and collect her blade.

Now that the entire quest part was over, it was now time for her to head towards finishing the quest by turning in these three items for an reward. She knew that she had to expedite the process but she would also enjoy finding another few materials along the way, starting with right now. There were two options for that, searching or fighting stronger monsters to achieve that. She was going to mix in both at the same time, to give her the most out of her time, as she needed to hurry up. There was a long bucketlist of things to do before the raid, and she knew she better get started now before it was too late to get enough of them done.

Now was the time that her skill could shine, as she kept walking, she found a giant boar, which would be perfect to roast. It had been a long time since she roasted something, let alone, created a feast of some type. It was a day of celebration but she had not been to one in such a long time, that she had forgotten how boars had tasted like. But this was the time to try it, hopefully obtaining materials in the process. She used her best skill in order to attempt a one-hit-ko, which would save her a lot of time. It was over-radiation, which had an insane multiplier, and she had not maxed out her potential just yet, as she knew there were ways to artificially increase that multiplier for short periods of time, but it was possible.

The girl had killed a monster, and now it was time for her to continue searching. She knew that she would have to come across another monster in the near future for it to work, and collect these materials that she had found everywhere. It was not going to be easy, but it would be better than failing. She knew that there was a problem at times with how she had perceived certain things, and would need to work on her linear abilities. In front of her, she found another giant boar, which she was going to fight.

Another wild boar on the first floor, was what she had been hoping for. She wanted to try out different cooking techniques with the wild boar meat, and in order to test them out, she needed enough wild boar meats. In Aincrad, there was no such thing as buying them, or at least they were more expensive than creating the consumables and food. It was strange that materials in general are way more expensive than the food iteself, but she suppose food is cheap, as they can visit various bars and inns to eat it. While meats would actually need to be hunted in order to find what she was looking for.

Rebekah was already having a lot of success today, and knew that the best was yet to come. That was going to take place later when she was going to try out multiple different recipes with the different boar meats that she was going to receive today. As her mind went through the different ways of preparing the meal, she knew she was going to spread it over several days, as she could not eat all of it at once. It was just too much for her especially if she wanted to stay at her optimal weight, as there was a trade off between strength and speed. She needed to have enough strength so that her strikes do a lot of damage, but she has to create openings for herself with that speed. As of now, she had a decent balance between the two, but it could be optimized even further in the future.

As Rebekah looked at her energy bar, she knew that she was going to need a lot of rest, or find a way to conserve it. That was the problem with these new sword skills. They deal a lot more damage, but she has to learn to effectively manage it during a battle. She knew that there were no healers with skill that could regenerate that, and it would just be natural. Potions sometimes do help, but more often than not, she knew that it was going to take a lot of effort for her to control her urge of attacking everything she could see. Now, it forced her to be more selective in her decisions and think about the consequences of every action. It was going to take some time to get used to, but with every passing day, it has started to feel natural to her.

Rebekah still needed some more rest, but knew that she was almost fully recovered from the earlier incident, and it would be time to take on a few more monsters soon. She knew the path to her destination to trade for the sword was close by, but she was walking the long way around. Of course, her motive was to collect materials for future use, so it did not come as a surprise to her that she was doing this, but rather the girl was ready to finish. She wanted to call it a day and go take a shower, but that would prevent her from doing what was truly what she wanted, which was continuing to train, even if it was on the first floor. In order to do that, she must be haste and finish what her job here first.

After all that hard work, she was almost there, as she could see the outskirts of the village up ahead. But before arriving, she was going to make one last detour, hopefully, it will be enough to collect a few more materials. It was very important for her to find them before anything else would happen, and this was what she had been looking for, another boar. These were plentiful on this floor, and she knew that she was going to need to continue slaughtering them to get what she had wanted. Without much hesitation, she struck and killed the boar instantly, without realizing that she had been hit once again. The girl did not really feel a thing when she was attacked.

At times like this, the girl could feel the burn out of training hard daily. She knew that eventually she might have to take a break from the front lines in order to keep up the motivation to continue. This was one of the things that had plagued many of the former frontliners that have come and gone before her. She considered herself to be in the top five female players, but barely in that group. It was ironic in that the two members of that group who have been around the longest, are the weakest out of the group. Maybe it was because slow and steady wins in the end, as many hit that burn out phase, and never return, but the ones that were able to pace themselves are able to keep fighting floor after floor. Now, she was already bored of hunting boars already, but there was nothing else to do on her detour to the village.

Five mats so far, it was not a record for her, but it was decent, considering her prospects here on the first floor. Rebekah knew that she needed a few more before she was going to stop calling it a day. It was a long walk back to her shop on the 4th floor, without a teleportation crystal, or she could crash and sleep at any of the inns around Aincrad, provided she was going to find one with a bath tub. That was her main priority, relax and then return the next day to do another quest or activity that she has not done yet. There were many things that the girl could do, but it was hard for her to decide, especially since she wanted to do everything at once.

This was it, she was almost out of the woods, and the village was up ahead. However, in between her and the village lies another giant boar. It was going to be her final test before receiving the anneal blade that she had wanted since the beginning. While the sword itself was useless for her, it was better than anything else she was going to do. After all, her 5 mats made the entire experience worthwhile. That item in itself was a collectors item that she wanted, to prove that she had partaken in this quest similarly to everyone else here today. She was crossing off her quests bucketlist, but completing them one quest at a time, there was nothing else to say.

This was going to be it, a final monster standing in front of her between the village. Another giant boar, she already forgot the number of these that she had faced today, but knew that it was going to be vital to kill each one. After all, that was the last battle of the day that she was going to have to fight with her rapier. The idea of a bath sounded really inciting, and so was sleeping in an inn on the floor, or she could return to her own floor, whichever was more convenient. Rebekah also wanted to save some col, just in case they needed to do something with it in the future. It was best to start collecting her own, and earning whatever she can. The girl knew that it was going to take a while before she could buy anything with her col, but every little bit would help. The girl used her over-radiation skill once again to slay the giant boar standing in front of the village.

The girl had finally arrived at the village on the first floor. The first thing she did was to return the three little nepent ovule, that she had collected and turned them over to the person who was going to reward her with the anneal blade. As she turned the items over, she wondered, all that work just for this sword which she was never going to use. The next thing was that she placed her weapon in her inventory, never to see it ever again. It was the type of thing that she might hang in her room one day, along with all the other rewards that she has never used in the past. It was going to be one big storage room that she needed for it to contain everything. At least this was over, and now she was going to get her rest at one of these nearby inns that were plentiful on each floor.
