The silence Snowfrost was broken by the shimmering sounds of Takao stepping through the warp gate. His usual hunting for the day had been finished hours ago, yet with nothing better to do, he opted to continue his preparations for the boss fight with a little extra hunting. Takao 0 Posted September 30, 2015 Author #2 Report Share Posted September 30, 2015 Takao traversed the town of Snowfrost quickly, passing by the various buildings without a second glance. The cold of the floor was bitter and cut into him like a knife as a result of his lack of suitable equipment for the wintry floor's climate. It was certainly uncomfortable, but not yet debilitating. He was sure if he was out in the freezing temperatures for long it would wind up being an issue, but the brunet estimated he had a good few hours before that happened. As he passed through the town's gate and left the safe zone, his sword was drawn and held to the side, ready to react to anything that might've thought to try and ambush him. Their fur was icy blue and seemed positively frigid, almost like the individual hairs were made of ice rather than hair. It'd been quite a while since he was last confronted by monsters of such a nature, well before he'd ever considered joining the assault team. Perhaps even before he was part of either the Cerulean Silence or the Guardians, yet the exact date he couldn't remember. He didn't waste time with beginning his attack, and charged a sword art. His body was forced into the air by the system, then guided back to with the point of his blade first. Using a weaker sword art was just as effective as repeating the usage of the one previous, given that he'd be forced to rest momentarily anyway, so he assumed the same position. After he felt the tug of the system trying to take control, he relinquished his avatar's motions to the system. He leapt into the air, performed another single back flip, and his blade found its way back into the frozen soil, further damaging the monsters around him. The town of Snowfrost disappeared into the distance as he continued onward, and soon a light snowfall had begun to fall. "Huh." he muttered quietly as he noticed a clearing up ahead. A flat knee-high rock sat toward one side, while tall evergreen trees surrounded every side of the opening. Takao said as he tread further into the clearing, pushing the snow aside as his boots waded through the soft white powder. "This is where Hasai took me that one time." The tone in his voice was rather monotonous compared to the usual enthusiasm it typically had, and his expression was rather... well, rather inexpressive, perhaps even a bit nostalgic. Their relationship had been a chapter of his life that he'd closed quite a long time ago, ever since she broke contact with him. "Wonder how she's doin' nowadays." He could feel the system regenerating his energy, which was a much more distinct and surreal sensation than recovering from fatigue in the real world. If he were to describe it to somebody, he would say it felt exactly like how a recovering stamina bar looked, which was a rather strange way to put it, but it still worked for him. "Alright, back in action!" he said aloud, then turned his gaze skyward. They emerged from behind the trees and slowly set about circling him, unknowingly setting themselves up in a perfect position for his sword art. His feet shifted apart and his sword was poised out to his side, resulting in the blade beginning to glow blue. He leapt into the air, performed a single flip, and then returned to the ground with the point of his sword leading his descent. It was certainly convenient for the monsters to continue to deliver themselves onto the end of his blade - metaphorically speaking, of course. The four of them returned to their typical predictable canid tactics of circling him, waiting for the opportunity to try and take his legs down from behind. Yet, before they could manage to find such an opportunity, Takao's blade began to glow, and in the following second his body was in the air. His blade crashed down onto the snow once more, and more sparks of electricity shot out in every direction yet again. He knew the way back simply because he had a map of the fields that would direct him, which allowed him to wander freely through the forests. They seemed to grow calmer in the direction he walked in, the only sounds he could hear was the faint whistling of wind nearly drowned out by the rustling of needles. Occasionally he would hear piles of snow drop from the canopy, or a monster in the distance, but until his energy returned he didn't bother to engage them.- -(Full Energy Recovery : 2/3 turns remaining) Link to post Share on other sites

"Maybe... twenty... yeah, 'bout twenty five minutes left before it gets dark." he said as he lowered his hand and glanced around the forest. It had started to get dark, but not to the point that a particular skill would be needed to continue. He flexed his hands and rolled his shoulders again as a wide smile grew on his face. He wagered that at least sixteen more monsters would find their end in the forest by his hands before he returned to the town of Snowfrost, and then from there to the considerably warmer by comparison village of Delilah. He made sure to travel with a low equip load this time around, both because it aided his movements as well as gave him plenty of space to store materials to use for crafting. He had everything he needed for himself for the boss fight, which meant that his materials could go solely to preparing items for the others. Now focused on the monsters that circled him and employed the same tactics as the others, he decided to do the same. He recognized the formations almost immediately as monsters even before they shifted and moved to stand at their full height. They were close enough to engage right away, so Takao didn't dare to waste the opportunity. He poised his blade, waited for the glow to turn blue, and leapt into the air. His usual daily hunting didn't have many lasting effects on his levels of exhaustion throughout the rest of the day, but when coupled with additional hunting later on, he was certainly beginning to feel it. In every direction there was nothing but tree trunks, and as he looked up, the sky was obscured by the thick evergreen snow-covered canopy. "For such a vast world, the variety in monsters is really lacking. You'd think there'd be a lot more to work with given how varied the floor climates are." he said as he shifted his weight and set into a stance. He prepared a sword art, the same as he'd been using for the past half hour or so, and unleashed its force onto the four wolves. Technically speaking, it was the lightning that erupted from the end of his blade upon being thrust into the ground following a minor acrobatic feat that introduced them to their terrible fate. He straightened his posture and glanced down at the interface as it appeared before him, and read over the details of his victory. He dismissed the menu shortly after and sheathed his sword. Takao 0 Posted September 30, 2015 Author #20 Report Share Posted September 30, 2015 Using his interface's field map as a guide, Takao navigated his way back to Snowfrost. He felt a weight ease off his shoulders as he passed through into the safe zone and quickly hurried to the gate platform. He shuffled up the stone stairs, stood in the middle of the platform, and voiced the location that he wished to be taken to - the third floor settlement of Delilah. Before long, the warmth of the flower-filled floor enveloped him, and he wasted no time with returning to his shop, fully prepared to sleep away both the entirety of the night as well as most of the morning.
