[SP - F2] Dog Eat Dog

Recommended Posts

Finally, the boy managed to shake himself free of the kobold's grip and the whirlpool of damage it had been inflicting. "Alright, now you're gonna die!" The rage was evident in his voice. The monster had made him look foolish for too long, but he was just thankful that no other players were around to witness the whole debacle. He raised his dagger high and waited for the kobold to make a move, but to his surprise the beast was playing the fight in a cautious manner. He had seen this before in other monsters; once there HP passed certain thresholds their behavior would change in some way. The problem with that was that it always meant a player had to be on their toes while in a fight. Regardless, Seul wasn't about to just recklessly charge in. He too waited for the right opportunity.

Of course things couldn't go that smoothly. The moment he tried to move the kobold was right back on him, scratching away with its annoying claws. This was making him sick. Why weren't his attacks hitting? He should have stocked up on teleport crystals. Was he really not as strong as he thought? Was everything up till now for nothing? Had he pushed himself too much? Where should he have drawn the line? If he had never left the starter city he wouldn't be in the mess now. These thoughts weren't helping. But he couldn't dimply ignore the reality of the situation. He could try running away, but would it really do him any good? Would he even be able to?

Once again he managed to throw the kobold off before placing some distance between himself and it. This fight was getting dragged out when it could've easily ended a millennium ago. Why was fate forsaking him? He just wanted to go home and eat some chocolate or something. Maybe sit by a fountain in town. He definitely didn't want to come back to this place for a long while, at least not on his own or without accuracy raising gear. He had to do something and fast. If just a little pinch of luck would kick in he'd appreciate it greatly. Seriously. He was begging at this point.

Oh. God. Why. Those were the only words that rang through his mind as he locked in a dance with the kobold who had resorted to using its sword once again. They each took turns wildly stabbing at the other in an effort to let their blades drink blood. Attack, dodge, attack, dodge, attack, dodge, attack, dodge. How long was this cycle going to continue? One measly chance was all Seul needed to fell the beast. Did the world really hate him this much? Did it want him to die? Was someone just playing a cruel prank on him?

IT WAS NEVER GOING TO END! For some odd reason they were evenly matched. They had been fighting for so long that they both seemed to have figured out the other's attack patterns. It was so bad; almost like a train wreck. If there was someone watching they probably wouldn't have been able to look away, just out of pure amusement of watching a low level monster troll a higher player who should've dispatched it easily. "Well if anyone is watching I wish they'd jump in rather than enjoy a free show! You know what, it's not free! Tickets are 200 COL!"

There it was, the opening he had been looking for! "You're finished!" He boasted before jumping away. He took on a stance with his dagger held high, allowing it to take on the ominous, blue glow of his finishing move. "SIDE BITE!" Before the kobold knew what hit it, Seul had passed it once from the front and another time from behind. On his way by the dagger he held tore into the kobold's sides, leaving behind giant red gash marks briefly before the monster exploded into a confetti shower of pixels. "Geez... That took forever! Get rekt stupid kobold!"

"Heh... It's a good thing I didn't have a date or anything planned. Wouldn't wanna be late because of a lame old monster." He let out a heavy sigh before placing his weapon back in its scabbard. Despite all the training he still wasn't proficient enough to handle multiple enemies at once on his own yet. If things got any worse back there he'd be the one carried off in the breeze right now. It was definitely time to invest in some other skills, but he'd save those thoughts for later. For now he'd take comfort in an inn room back in town with a cozy bed and no dog creatures trying to murder him.
