Round 1: Life vs Kalesh

The gates open and the countdown begins down to 10. The two players stood across the way from eachother on the Arena of the First floor. Just as he had done for the season, The boy lifted up two banners each representing the guilds of those participating and lowered them to signal they're prepare stage during the ten second countdown.

Kalesh took a deep breath as he readied himself for the coming duel, double and then triple checking that he had all of his armor on and that his hitpoints were at full among other things. The last thing he wanted was to be unprepared for his first match. He watched with bated breath as he rests his left hand on the orb, not yet drawing it while trying to get a glance of his opposition. He had never actually seen or heard of this 'Life' before but the name sounded ominous, since the one who controls life also controls death. He chuckled at his stupid witticisms to calm his nerves, as ready as he was ever going to be. He remembered the last time he dueled someone. It did not go well for him, for reasons he felt was obvious. However, he felt just a touch hardier and stronger hitting than back then. Who knew, maybe this would be the first fight he won against another player! His armor and weapons could be better, his skills too, but those were excuses he wouldn't put on his enemy no matter what. He signed up for this, it was his own fault if he was not prepared!

The arena beckoned Life back in, the walls and soil he resentfully remembered. It was in this arena he had given up in his battle against Tristan, the first clash of blades. He was not the same man, hardly. The life back then was weak, pitiful even. This was his chance of redemption, and he wasn't going to fail. Life spent a lot of time alone, training and brooding over many events of his past; he wasn't so used to losing so many people he held dear to him. So of course he had to get stronger, this was his conviction, he was going to protect those he loved and defeat this game and the only way he could do that is if he grew stronger. The player named "Kalesh" would be the first to test his metal. He didn't know him, but then again he didn't know many people at all. Perhaps this player would also be driven to the same conviction, through the taste of defeat. He stood nonchalantly, resting his elbow on the hilt of his katana, waiting for the que to start.

Life closed his eye's and rested his hand on the arena pedestal activating his over-health and waited for Kalesh to do the same "Good luck" It wasn't long before the fight began, Life grabbed the hilt of his katana and launched himself forward instantly activating his Zekkai skill. The blade was drawn out from its scabbard and in one swift movement cut directly across Kalesh's chest leaving a large orange mark. Life wasn't going to play games, he was in this for real, and he was going to get this done with efficiency and with speed. He watched Kalesh's health drop a moderate amount, if it hadn't been buffed by the arena he was sure that would have been at least half his hp. It was no matter now, Life swerved on his feet and faced his body towards Kalesh with his blade at the ready in front of him.

"Same to you." Said Kalesh with a smile as he drew his blade as Life came close! The player clearly had higher stats than him, outspeeding him and doing a very considerable number of damage to him! He watched as his hit points dropped! He tried to counter Life's attack, swinging his blade towards the player who seemed at least somewhat similarly built as him but at a much higher level. The attack wasn't going to land, despite his hopes that it would, only hoping he could evade or block the next attack unleashed by his opponent!

((It's 300 overhealth, but 200 loss to win.))

Life smirked as he watched the boy come back for him trying to retaliate against his attack. He had courage striking him so fiercely, but attacks like that wouldn't land. He tilted his body to the side and completely evaded his attack. Life brought his blade up and swung overhead bringing it down on him not heeding his own noted advice and missed his target. He grimaced as he was wide open, he watched Kalesh, bracing himself for the attack. Life's next attack wasn't going to miss, he wouldn't let it happen.

Kalesh gasped when Life swung at him after his own failed attempt, managing to deflect the blade albeit barely as he tried to back up a bit to gain some distance, the last thing he needed was to get hit twice in a row after missing! Life's luck held however, and as Kalesh swung his blade once more towards the more experienced player it was not met with any signs of damage on his opponent. He kept swinging the blade but kept falling short of the right movement to cleave a path of pixels through the overhealed enemy in front of him. "Tsk, you are fast, I see!" He says in compliment to his opponent. Even if a temporary foe, he had no problem noting ones advantages and hard work!

Life's movements proved to continually be to quick for Kalesh to handle. It was clear he just didn't match up, Life had better gear and was higher levelled, it wasn't necessarily because Kalesh was bad. He smirked at his compliment "You're not to bad yourself" Life leant forward and lowered his katana activating Zekkai once again and dashed right in front of Kalesh before cutting diagonally across his chest and dashed back out after chunking him again. Life kept his composure and stood in a ready position. He had one more Zekkai left in him before he was to run out of energy and from there it was going to be a steady climb, but Life would be the winner.

Kalesh grit his teeth at the sensation of a blade digging into him again when he still hadn't been able to land so much as a glancing blow against his opponent! The feeling was of frustration but he quickly shook it from his mind as he tried his best not to give Life free reign, gradually burning his energy away with every swing made towards the fellow katana user. "Heheh. Thanks, but I still have a ways to go!" He says as he charged forward with the tip of his blade aimed for Life's belly The player had an excellent track record thus far, leaving Kalesh at more than a slight disadvantage in both hitpoints and over all strength! He couldn't help but smirk at the similarities between their builds even if they were worlds apart! It was like staring at what he could be. And if that image was kicking his butt so hard, he looked forward to gaining that power!

Life eased up a little, briskly dodging yet another blow from Kalesh and made a small counter cutting across his shoulder. He could tell that his energy would deplete soon and so it would be best to try and conserve it before he was running on fumes. Also, it would give Kalesh a chance to catch up, if he could manage to land a hit. "As long as you don't give up, any goal is attainable" Life smirked and shifted his position so that he was facing his side, staying light on his feet. Now that he looked closer, Kalesh was like a weaker version of himself. In a sense, he almost wanted Kalesh to hit him, so that his thorns could do work on him, but everything came in due time. One small step at a time.

It was like a shark smelling blood essentially. Some strange combination of his lowering overhealth points and the realization that his opponent was running low on energy spurred him on to suddenly close the distance between himself and Life as his opponent's blade hit his shoulder and did barely a scratch! Kalesh's slashed swiftly across Life's chest four times before finally slicing downwards with a chop into the opposing player's shoulder! Kalesh obviously beamed with pride as for the first time in this fight he had managed to land a blow. It was also the first time he had ever used this sword art, so he was happy that it gave positive results! He flinched as he felt a wound seemingly to open up at random, gritting his teeth as he remembered this sensation from his last duel. "Fair enough! However, I think it might serve us both to decide on a winner once we are boooth dried out." He winked and made a slight gesture to the crowd. No point wasting their time he figured.

There was something about Kalesh that brought a faint smile to Life's face. It most likely had to do with the fact that he reminded him of his earlier days as a player, and his energy with his fighting was commendable. He felt the familiar Sword Art of the katana slice against his chest and he was pleased with his efforts, but as the thorns struck back at Kalesh it really was clear that this fight was one sided. Life thought maybe he should give Kalesh a chance to shine in front of the crowd for awhile, give them a good show like Kalesh had told him he wanted. Life smirked and nodded "Alright then, I hear you" He prodded at Kalesh again with the tip of his katana, trying to scrape his arm and bide his time for the right moment to let an all out attack fly, his last Zekkai.

Kalesh managed to deflect Life's attack, causing the attack to go long by running against his own Katana! However, the attack had enough force behind it that it caused Kalesh's blade to get knocked from his hands and impale itself into the ground behind him! With his eyes wide Kalesh leaped back and made a dash for his blade, trying to gain some distance as he retrieved his sword while trying to enter into a ready stance. His cheeks were slightly flushed, mask only partially obscuring it as he was clearly and obviously embarrassed at his potentially fatal mistake. He didn't suspect a huge chance of winning to start with, but this was pretty bad on its own regardless of the past.

Life smirked again as Kalesh had fumbled with his attempt to continue his streak of damage on him, Life could tell that Kalesh was flustered over the failed attempt, but it wasn't something he thought he should beat himself up over. Or at least he hoped he didn't. Life wasn't going to let the opportunity pass however and kicked his movement into gear. He darted forward, closing the gap between the two men. He strafed to the side leaving a trail of blue light from Life's blade  which stayed by his side as he then jumped over the mans body, twirling as he did. His kimono flared out, appearing as though a blue moon hung overhead of Kalesh. As he approached the peak of his jump Life lashed out his katana in the long drawing strike motion of Zekkai and struck the mans back with violent force and following through with his twirl before landing briskly. The momentum of his movements caused his kimono's flare to fan out and then gently fall back into place. He raised his blade to keep his guard up "That was my last shot, lets see what you can do shall we"

He tried, and failed, to deflect the incoming attack, most of his energy spent doing such things. Either he was swinging his sword and missing, or he was blocking and dodging. This fight was going poorly for him, nobody could debate otherwise unfortunately. Worst yet, he had used more than half his energy supply, and he had only managed to land one hit! He was sure that his foe had done at the bare minimum one hundred damage more than he did the single chance he did get a hit in. Kalesh took a deep breath though, not going to just give up until the plan in his mind came to fruition. He wanted to lose in a very specific way, and he wasn't going to back down until that chance was granted to him!

Life smiled to see Kalesh was still fighting, though it was certain who would win, he still pressed on. Looking at his health, they still had a long ways to go before Kalesh would go down, but it was certain it was going to end up Life as the winner. Kalesh couldn't land a hit on him, and Life was starting to hope he did so he could take damage from his Thorns already. Life watched him carefully, knowing that now all he had to do was wait for Kalesh to hit him. He half heartedly thrusted the edge of his Katana at Kalesh pressing forward against him. "Is there a reason you're holding on?" He asked the boy.

((Sorry for the delay!))

Kalesh grinned at the question, laughing to himself softly before saying "For the moment you let your guard down!" He slapped the incoming sword aside with the side of his left hand, suddenly swinging his blade horizontally across Life's chest with his right, punching him in the face with his left hand and then grabbing hold of his blade in both hands before landing one more final slice to Life's chest to form a cross pattern! He grinned, as he watched Life's character enter a stunned state, unable to move for a short time. In this time Kalesh sheathed his sword, raised his hands into the air and announces "I surrender!" He smiles and flicks his fingers, confirming that he cancelled the duel with a command before saying "I'm losing, but at least I am losing with a pinch of style~" he smirked, it might have been a touch underhanded, but he took his small victory while he could.

Life winced as Kalesh finally landed a blow on him and paralysed him. It seemed rather pointless, but he soon found why he wanted to keep fighting. Surrendering while having a small victory would indeed keep some pride in tact for him. It was a little underhanded and he didn't want to dignify it at all. "So that's how it is then. Well, a win is a win. I'll take it" He grimaced and waited for the paralyse to wear off before sighing and sheathing his blade. He decided it would be best not to be a sore winner and put his angst behind him "Well fought." He bluntly said. "Now, I think we're done here."

Kalesh grinned mischievously and nodded "Yeah, good fight, you destroyed me!" He had no intention of taking the victory away from Life, he earned it on his own. He just had no desire to be beaten down and not get one good hit in. He may as well have been lightly scratching Life up until that point. He extended his hand, not about to be a sore loser. Yes, it was little dirty, but he didn't doubt his sense of honor. He knew some people didn't like paralysis or stuns, but he had the same opinion on thorns. A method was a method and he would not belittle someone for using it! "Best of luck against your next opponent. I doubt I'll beat my next opponent either but we'll see~" He offers a wink to the other player, wishing him the best for his next fight!
