[SP - F13] Venting anger <<Scouting the 13th floor>>

It happened again. A strange feeling of deja-vu took over the blonde at first as she saw the raid party assemble in front of the massive floors. At first she ignored it as she tighten the grip around her black rapier's hilt. In the same time she gasped as Tristan pushed open the doors after that small roulette appeared... she was so focused that the circle was completely ignored. 'Its been a while was the thought that crossed her mind as the mob reacted to their presence. 

"That was all?" she muttered with a dumbfounded expression. She watched as the first teams attacked and attacked the mobs with perfect accuracy despite the environment. As expected, their moves were restricted but people seemed to have gotten over that quite easily. She felt...powerless, all those people displaying new items and most likely hidden skills as well. It made her curse the last generation of front liners that were taking their time in clearing the floors. Some of them were here today too, adapting and even leading the new blood. As soon as she saw the boss transform in a pixelated mist and the words 'Congratulations' appearing in front of her. She took a glance towards the others that were celebrating and saw two figures dashing towards someplace. She knew exactly who they were and what they were up to and pretty much did the same as the last time but decided to let the two lovebirds alone. Last time, due to the size of their party they took on groups after groups of enemies and fallen behind Takao.

She ran with all her might towards the emerging staircases that lead the way towards the newly unlocked floor.

Despite being the same generic 'ascend' towards the new floor, this time it took the blonde less time in reaching the surface. Beside her heavy steps, she could barely hear other two pairs of paws from behind gaining speed on her. "Took you long enough" she said to her familiar that had been waiting along the sidelines while the raid team did their job. The white furred lion let out a howl as it passed by Ariel and assumed point, acting as always as a self-proclaimed guide for the new floor. With a smile, the blonde shook her head, already accustomed with her companion's wild personality and said: "Okay okay, lead the way. Just make sure not to get us lost." She took a look at the damage crystal that was still in her hand. 'Looks like I didn't get a chance to use it, it will serve me good now. Thanks Mari.' and smashed it against the scabbard of her weapon. At the same time as the weapon started vibrating, a streak of light caught Ariel's attention. Kimba let out another howl as she was the first to enter the new floor, the blonde followed a second later and they both put an end to their dash to recover some stamina while taking a look at they new surroundings.

The view was.... breathtaking to say the least but not in the good sense. The atmosphere was gloomy and the air seemed to taint the surroundings in brown. Kimba started growling at the horizon for no apparent reason but as if empathizing with the furred lion, the blonde's own instincts warned her that something was.... wrong? with this place. "I didn't think this was enough to scare you off." said the blonde in a mocking tone as she addressed her companion. It was more to distract herself from the nerve wrecking feeling that she had. Taunted by her words, the white lioness started dashing forwards on a random road that probably lead to the city. The blonde pursued her with a smile on her face 'Just like old times'.

While on the run, the two were welcomed by a not so great looking characters. They had a NPC mob marker above their head but had a human figure but it could barely be called that since it was some sort of zombie type mob. She had seen similar things on the previous floor but under the form of animal mobs now they were humans with ripped off clothes and black eyes, hollow of all life. Even if the NPCs are just computer generated, the normal ones still had imitated the so called 'light of the eye' in their image to make them more familiar looking towards the players....these guys, handling butcher knifes and hatchets appeared to have been made for the opposite purpose, to kill players fool enough to cross their paths. 

She wasn't your everyday player noob so she activated her charge and stopped in front of the closest 4 mobs. Her blade shone blue as she activated a low level AoE attack, unfortunately her best. Slashing twice in a V pattern she was able to hit all of them, the next moment they transformed into polygons and disappeared, leaving behind only a couple of cloth materials.

As she collecting the 2 loot items, Kimba roared out of the blue and Ariel instinctively dodged. The next instant, a huge butcher knife passed by her left side, striking the ground she was a second ago. She tried to return the hit but her footing wasn't balanced from the sudden dodge and she missed...horribly while landing on her back. "Tsk" she made a unpleasant face as she saw the giant villager with almost all his top clothing ripped of him. It was a miserable sight but she swallowed up her repulsion and attempted to kick the ground and gain some distance from it.

"For a big guy you move quite fast don't you?" asked the blonde in a mocking tone. Then she gained a bit of distanced she smashed the dmg crystal against her blade. Next she instantly activated a sword art and skill, she thrust her rapier right through its belly and was showered in pixels instead of a gore scene. She simply lets out a 'hmpf' and collects her loot while looking around. Wouldn't want to make that mistake again seeing as the mob managed to hit her somewhere in the process of being slayed. She raised herself up and looked around.

Then Ariel directed her attention towards the remaining members of the 'welcoming committee', several male and female forms were closing in on her. Kimba once again started growling at them as to alert the blonde of their presence. "We didn't even reach the main settlement and this is what we are against? Seems like a perfect place to train new blood" she said, for a moment remembering the usual initiation she put all Absolute Pin recruits through. A wary smile crossed her face as memories from that time surfaced with a vivid sensation. She shook her head and tried to focus, those days are no more... she had left AP behind as the guild it was supposed to replace got back on its feet and several new ones arise as well.

Dodging to the right, this time an even bigger pandemic mob came at her, this one seemed to be a oversized woman with a crossbow. Ariel's cheek had been scraped by the bolt...it would've head shot her if it wasn't for Kimba's warnings. Fighting ranged foes was a bit of novelty in her experience but she had more than enough 'burst/charge' skills to cross the gap in mere moment. She activated such one and ended up slicing the woman in half.

As the mob disintegrated in pixels, Ariel turned towards the remaining opponents. She could distinguish 2 groups of them and in a instant, she had activated the charge skill and sword art. She ended up with them quickly performing the same precise move she did with the first group. Kimba wanted to attack too but the blonde held her left hand to stop her. "Save your strength, I'll need your innate skills when we search for the boss room. For now, you just watch mt back and alert me of any more surprises." said Ariel in a slightly authoritarian tone. Kimba growled her displease but didn't have another alternative but to listen his time. She would show the blonde how thing are done when they enter the tower's labyrinth.

After the others disappeared in the familiar pixelated light a massive form dashed towards Ariel. It seems she had mistaken it for a whole group of mobs earlier and was a bit unprepared for the attack. Her instincts took over and dodged the incoming avalanche under the form of ironically enough, a weapon that seemed like an oversized butter knife. The blonde was taken more aback by that than the actual appearance of the mob but quickly regained her composure and after dodging, she concentrated her attack on the mob's weak points. Her weapon glowed a malevolent blue as she first stabbed it twice, one for each shoulder then dealt a final blow to the belly tracing on the mob a perfect downwards triangle pattern.

But it seemed like it wasn't enough to one shot the mob as it attempted to swing its 'deadly' looking weapon at her from below. The blonde evaded the massive form once again and jumped back a couple of meters then performed the pre-motion for one of her favorite charging-type skills. This time she couldn't use her actual charge skill but the speed from the sword art was enough to pass through the mob's slow moving defenses. She impaled the center of the previous formed triangle and watched as the mob had dissipated into the sadly too familiar pixels, reminding her once again that this wasn't the real world. She added the loot to her inventory and looked around once again to see if there were any more enemies.

"The coast is clear...for now" said the blonde to her trusty companion while sheathing her blade. Kimba seemed to agree as she let out a low growl and started walking forwards. In the distance they seemed to be something like a oasis of life in this desert of death. As they drew closer, beside the illumination from the buildings, the two could see green grass growing, a welcomed chance from all the black and brown vegetation up to that point. Reaching the town entrance Ariel could finally see the settlement's name popping up on her map data. "Angel's point" she slowly mutters with a complex expression. "Its keeps getting better and better!" she continued as they went into the town.

As soon as she entered the building the ominous feeling she got was reduced a bit by the beautiful stained glass windows of every building there was. Odd enough they depicted the same image, that of a angelic form covered in a dazzling white that seemed incredibly vivid. She found herself starring at them for a while now, like she had done the first time back in Lazaro, when she first set her eyes on the. A loud roar and a bumping sensation awoken her from the apparent daydream as her companion was warning her of something. Next the sounds of bells, similar to those in Lazaro, inundated the town causing the lion to growl menacing. Next the two could see NPCs showing out of nowhere all around them. "Were they always around?" she asked no one in particular, wondering if she had just ignored them until now like some kind of visual counterpart of a white noise.

Getting no reply from her companion that adopted a defensive attitude, one that she's rarely seen, the blonde couldn't help but emphasize with her and get a feeling from the surroundings. She knew this was a safe area where neither of them could get their HP lowered but a bit of caution wouldn't hurt, especially when strolling on a newly unlocked floor that you know nothing about. For now she decided to follow the NPCs that were all heading towards the same direction "What is it with this hive mentality?" she asked herself as she approached one of them. "Excuse me for disturbing you, can you tell me where you're heading. Is there something wrong?" she asked in a polite manner. But the NPC turned towards her for a second, shook its head then continued its advance and pointed a finger in that general direction. The blonde showed a puzzled expression but decided not to waste her breath anymore and began a light dash towards the center of the city.

Her destination was by far obvious as from a distance she could see a huge Cathedral towering over all the other buildings. It depicted the same stained glass image as the rest but in a bigger manner. The NPCs were gathering around it and standing there, it reminded the blonde of the scene of sheep waiting to be slaughtered,a chill crept down her back. "There is something definitely wrong with this place" she muttered and found a low growl approving her from behind. Kimba continued to show hostility towards this place. She went to the front entrance of the cathedral and pushed the large doors. At first she didn't put much force but ended up growling herself due to the strain. The doors wouldn't budge no matter what, like some kind of <Immortal Object>. The two then circled the building, while keeping a close eye on the NPCs, in search of a secondary entrance but found none. "I say we get out of here!" she said to her familiar that nodded in return. The initial calmness this place provided turned into suspicion and the blonde didn't want to be here more than needed.

As soon as they left the settlement they were greeted by the same 'familiar' faces of the pandemic villagers. Now, after meeting the real deal back in the town, Ariel was more glad to see them than their 'healthy' counterparts. With a grin she charged towards the nearest group and slayed them without a second thought.

The earlier uneasiness quickly dissipated as her blade struck the computer generated flesh of the first mob. This was where she truly belonged, fighting in the frontlines. Here there was no envy among players, no useless disputes on the base of 'feelings' or long buried memories but only the will to fight and slay the enemy that was in front of you. She was surprised to see she was so simple in terms of desires and inner calmness, she realized again how much this game changed her but in the same time made her aware of her inner self.

There came another great mass of decomposing flesh wielding some bizarre weapon with double pointy ends. The blonde didn't falter at the sight and elegantly dodged while activating her most powerful sword art showing a beautiful display of skill and light show as while her blade started emanating an intense blue aura she employed numerous thrusts amidst various showy spins and twirls.Too bad nobody except Kimba was there to see it but showing off wasn't her purpose but to kill the mob as fast as she could.

Yet another mass of flesh attacked her and was just about to hit her when Kimba's warning reached Ariel's ears and she once again evaded, the massive blade that came down scraping against her left vambrace making a visible spark. She took the opportunity and unleashed yet another flurry of jabs and stabs using the same high-end skill to quickly terminate the mob, summing a total of 13 total successful consecutive hits. It seemes that only several small fries remained behind the two main attackers. With a smirk the blonde dashed towards them.

While the blonde got distracted and almost fell on her face, due to the mist combined with her anxiousness she stepped on a small rock that was hidden from sight despite being in front of her. The blonde cursed and looked around but in the same time 4 bolts came towards her aiming towards different parts of her body. Luckily she was able to deflect them with her vambraces and gave a smug face and shouted at her assailants. "Do you really think those sticks are enough to kill me?" from behind Kimba roared with all her might in a attempt to intimidate the enemy.

As soon as Kimba finished her action 4 more bolts came in her direction, Ariel instinctively jumped and fully deflected them. "Damn archers!" she cursed out loud. "You cowards!" she was starting to get angry... her previous good mood was now spoiled and she wanted somebody to pay for this. But couldn't move as the archers would most likely attack her again if they see a opening or even go for Kimba again. This was one of the reasons why she didn't want to bring Kimba in this dangerous place. But now was not the time to think about that, she had to act or else one way or another one of those bolts would get past her defenses sooner or later.

And their assaults kept coming, they were running out of time fast. The bolts were more precise as the two were pinpointed on the spot on a open field. While their attackers kept their distances and moved at will, circling around them Ariel and Kimba could only stay put and listen to the winds in hopes of hearing the soaring bolts when they are near them and deflect them with her vambraces. But when they shot in the same time, one or a couple of them find their way past her defence and pierces her body and clothing.

Luckily, the answer came from itself.. or better said from the dust covered earth. As this was akin to a wasteland every time Ariel made a sudden move she would raise all the dust around her bit by bit. So after a few minutes of constants doges and deflections a fully usable smoke screen formed around the increasingly desperate blonde. She had noticed this later as the bolts began losing precision and coordination. "I got you!" she muttered as she activated her charge skill and activated her AoE skill. She went for a blind strike judging only by the trajectory of the last bolts but her instincts were spot on as she felt 4 time light resistance while casting her sword art. Next came a silenced scream and pixelated effects.
