OP - F11 Passing Time On The New Floor (2/4 Spots Taken)

Recommended Posts

"Well, I guess now is as good a time as any..."

A blue flash of light appeared in the eleventh floor settlement of Taft, materializing a blue-haired player. Clothing his upper body was a light blue fur jacket with a white shirt underneath, while his legs were covered with a pair of dark grey pants tucked into brown boots. Save for the small charm wrapped around his wrist, he didn't appear to match the supposed dangers of the new floor, not covered in any sort of armor or bearing any particular weapon.

Calrex gave a yawn as he looked around before starting to make his way towards the gate out into the fields, "Roc, we're gonna be doing some exploring in the fields today. Nothing too serious, I just want to test out some of the new gear I've got."

His peregrine falcon familiar appeared in a flash of light, hovering overhead. While Roc maintained pace Calrex swiped on his menu, selecting his gear. While the Amethyst Charm was already wrapped around his wrist a different set of armor from his usual Grand Chariot full-body set appeared. It appeared to be a much more minimalist set, with only a set of pauldrons, poleyns, a chestplate, and a single gauntlet appearing on him. The pauldrons and poleyns fit over the jacket and pants respectively, while the chestplate went underneath, fitting over his shirt. The Grand Dragoon armor, something he had commissioned from Meokka's Crescent Hare Forge in order to test his skill at wielding armor, rather than growing reliant on the gear itself.

"Still not too sure whether I should start practicing with the Grand Gauntlets again or not. I did take out that black dragon in Tartarus with just my bare fists, so maybe I'll make do without them for now."

Adding to the last of his gear was the Ocean's Defense, the necklace appearing around his neck. Since he had recently grandmastered his Heavy Armor skill, the Skill Rank ability did not activate. However, figuring he could make some good use of the bonus to his scavenging abilities he kept it equipped.

As he arrived at the gate he gave a quick stretch, looking around, "Hm...even though this floor has been unlocked it looks like it people still haven't begun to populate it just yet. Odd, I thought a lot of people were getting pumped for a new floor after being stuck on one to ten for so long."

Producing the freshly purchased Mushroom Sandwich he had gotten from Kotori's cafe he promptly munched it down, looking at a temporary extension to his health bar appeared.

Crozeph waltzed at the streets of Taft, probably in a good mood with the less chattering he hears around the settlement. The day was the normal one he usually had, only that the safe feeling is heightened in a way where he felt like he could take his clothes off ...which will never happen, ever. Crozeph's eyes darted everywhere, few people, spacious, and a little lonely but it will be short-lived. Crozeph could hear a few players talk about exploring, a job he sees as tedious for his stats "I was never good at finding anything" he thought as he continued to walk, his hands on his pockets. As he walked out of an alley, Crozeph saw a shadow circling and  hovering. Crozeph looked up ahead and saw a large bird flying "by george! that's a..." Crozeph's then turned serious "...a vulture or a falcon? or eagle?" he uttered.

Crozeph couldn't tell the difference as it was still a good deal far away from him "maybe I should take a closer look" Crozeph then moved faster than before and followed it. "Something new" he said as he cotinued to follow it "I always thought familiar were more dangerous looking but this one" Crozeph "a little bit majestic and..." Crozeph then fell face down but quickly stood up shaking the dust off him "better be careful" he thought as he continued walking towards it.

OOC: Looks like no one else is joining, so we shall continue!

IC:

"Alright time to get moving."

Calrex had begun to exit the gate when he looked back, seeing to see if Roc was keeping pace. However, it seemed that the falcon had decided to temporarily do his own thing as he slowly descended from the sky before landing on top of a food stand. The blue-haired player gave a sigh as he began making his way over, "Roc, are you craving some food?"

The bird slowly did a sideways shuffle before making another flap, landing on Calrex's shoulder giving a small screech, "So...you're getting friendly because there's food around? I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but where in the world did that noble air you used to exude go just now?"

Purchasing a couple of smaller food Calrex took a piece of it, tossing it up. As the morsel descended it was promptly caught in Roc's beak before the peregrine falcon munched it down, shaking its head in a circular motion as if out of approval.

"Alright, well if this is the case I guess I might as well take a seat for now and let him put these down his gullet."

Moving over to a nearby fountain he sat down, beginning to set piece by piece in a small path. Roc flapped down and began to pick each one up, almost like something out of a cartoon. Calrex couldn't help but give a small laugh as he watched his usually more majestic familiar pick each piece up hastily.

"Maybe when we head out I'll stick to areas that might have more smaller prey so that Roc can get his fill of those as well. He certainly had no problems dealing with the centipedes he found on the tenth floor, so the woodland animals here shouldn't pose a challenge."

Floor 11 was quite boring so far. She had started to e plore the town of Text, but there were only NPCs around, as she forgot the last time she had saw a player around here. Maybe she will run into someone knowing that there was a certain barrier which barred a lot of players from entering these floors. She had been thinking of finding a familiar, since it felt like every player had one except for her, but she was rather lonely on the streets in the town. She forgot why she was here in the first place, maybe to find some new type of materials to collect. As she explored the rest of the town to get her bearings straightened out, she just knew there was a player around here if. She looked long enough. The blonde continue to walk aimlessly around the town.

(sorry didn't notice the post update)

Crozeph was still walking and looking up on the falcon when it suddenly landed on someone from a food cart "and the falcon decided it was hungry" Crozeph thought as he stopped to watch. A few seconds later a man approached the majestic bird. Crozeph watched as the man gave it food. The thought of having a familiar was something that was on his list for a while now but not on top of it, Crozeph had better things to do "first my shop then the guild then, a few quests that needs to be done" he thought. Crozeph's attention turned back to the falcon and its owner and saw them move to a fountain "this is the time" Crozeph thought "I must confirm if it is a falcon" he added "I can't even recall what vultures look like." Crozeph then placed his hands inside the pocket of his coat and moved towards the falcon as it was picking up the food tossed.

"Hello, I may seem like intruding your moment with your familiar but..." Crozeph pointed at the falcon "is that an eagle or a falcon?" he asked "or vulture?" he added. Crozeph has always been mistaking one after another in the same category "crap I should've asked if ravens and crows are same" he thought as he smiled at him nervously, waiting for an answer.

"Hm?"

Calrex turned to look at the person who had just approached and inquired about Roc, seeing a young man wearing a coat. Roc, curious as to the newcomer, turned to face him after munching down on another treat before beginning to hover overhead, "Oh, no problem at all. This guy here is actually a peregrine falcon. Of course his blue color isn't exactly very common, but fairly unique here in SAO."

"I guess he must have really been intrigued by Roc if he came over to ask that question."

Picking off yet another piece of food Calrex tossed it skyward as Roc quickly swooped in and snatched it out of the air before returning back to hovering, "From what I remember back in the real world they're known to have the fastest speed when they're performing a high speed dice, clocking at I believe over 200 miles per hour."

Looked back over at the person in front of him he figured introductions were in order, "In any case it's nice to meet you. I'm Calrex and he's Roc."

Crozeph thought hard at the mention of a peregrine falcon "I should've read more about birds" he thought as the man added a few descriptions of what falcons are. The falcon was indeed unique in Crozeph's eyes, it was not surprising for him, games tend to take a few steps away from reality and SAO is not an exception. "A lot of players are having familiars lately" he said "and it seems you have one of those unique ones" he added. Crozeph nodded as the man introduced himself and his familiar "nice meeting you Calrex..." Crozeph turned to the falcon "...and you Roc" he said. The falcon seemed to be hungry as Calrex tossed food at it "I do plan to get one soon, I'm just trying to decide if I'll be trying to have one that can be given enhancements" he said "though there's nothing wrong with getting one that can't have it" he told him.

"What brings you here at Floor 11" he asked Calrex. There hasn't been much to do in the place, probably because of some requirements before entering the floor "I believe there's no quest available in here yet or I'm just not updated with those" Crozeph looked around "and no shops that I've heard or seen around" he added.

As she continued to walk, she subconsciously decided to follow the falcon, since there was nobody else here, but she knew that the owner of that bird has to be around here somewhere. It was not going to take long for her to find them since the town was rather small, and she could soon see two people standing out in the middle of the clearing. As she got closer, she seemed to recognize them, some guy who was part of the last boss raid, and this new guy who she had not met, but seen somewhere before. She decided to approach them since there was nobody else around. Maybe they will know something about the floor that I do not know.

As she approach them, she made sure not to startle the falcon, as she was not good with animals. She had just managed to catch the end of Crozeph's last sentence and she agreed with what he had said, there just was nothing open so far. But there must be something players can do on this floor, other than the upcoming boss raid.

"Hm...what brings me here? Actually I originally came here to do some more exploring before the next floor raid begins. I've heard that there are already plans being made to take on the floor boss, so since we've only been here for such a short time I figured it would be a good idea to get a lay of the land before we move on to the next floor. As for the lack of players here...I have no idea. I thought people were excited to get to the new floor, but it seems most might have gotten comfortable on the first ten floors."

Calrex tossed Roc yet another piece of food as the falcon quickly snatched it up in its beak, quickly scarfing it down before looking over, as if he noticed something out of the orindary. Calrex looked over in the direction his familiar was looking, his <<Reveal>> skill activating as he saw someone he had only seen a couple of times in the past, Rebekah. Giving a friendly wave he turned his attention back to Crozeph, "In any case, what brings you to the eleventh floor?"
