Having caught word of the new event, Ariel decided to upgrade some of her items in preparation for the next floor boss fight. Her sources let her know that someone already scouted the F29 floor and most likely triggered this new event as they reached the boss room. Her own scouting experience let her to believe that too. In any case, after exchanging a few words with her neighbours, the Firm Anima guild. She got recommended by Raidou to go seek out their artisan.
What sounded like a walk next door turned out to be a longer stride to the 2nd floor, not really explored by the blonde until now. She tapped three times on the door then entered the quaint shop while her white furred companion remained outside with a couple of Ariel's students. Her school's mentorship really started taking off lately, so for recreational purposes, she came accompanied by 2 of the new youngest members.
It was a cozy place, reminding her a little of her own tailor shop back when she first started out on the 1st floor:
"Hello, I was told you can make something for me..." she rummaged through her pockets, coming out empty at first. Then with some light frowning as she searched once more, she produced a small piece of paper with the details she wanted. Then looking at the price range, in a business like manner, she started to fiddle with the funds tranfer window in front of her. Taking quick glanced at the widow, outside, to confirm that the two stayed nearby. (although her Search skill and Tracking mod were already active)

Name: Kurokō no Tamashii (黒鋼の魂) Profession: Artisan Rank: 10 Roll ID: Roll Result: Item Type: Trinket Tier: 4 Quality: Demonic Enhancements: Accuracy 2, Recovery 2 Post Link: Here Description:This traditional Japanese omamori that's crafted from fine silk brocade in deep black, symbolizing resilience and resolve, accented with threads of gold representing divine favor and unyielding strength. The front bears an embroidered icon of Bishamonten — the armored god of war and guardian of righteous battle — depicted standing atop a lotus pedestal, holding his sacred spear (yari) and pagoda, which signifies the safeguarding of treasures and the spirit.
Etched kanji beneath the figure read: 「毘沙門天加護」 ("Protection of Bishamonten"). A golden cord seals the omamori shut, never to be opened, ensuring the protective blessing remains undisturbed. It radiates a quiet aura of vigilance, designed to be worn or kept close by those who face danger — soldiers, fighters, and guardians of peace.
It is said that warriors who carry this omamori march with the unseen gaze of Bishamonten upon them, shielded from malice, empowered with courage, and guided by righteous purpose.

A faint shimmer passed through Ariel's frame—Hirru's buff—light and iridescent, like catching the edge of dawn on tempered steel. She exhaled through her nose as the energy flowed through her limbs, worn muscles and weary joints singing with renewed potential. A sharp smile curled her lips as her hand tightened around the hilt of Nihilim’s Wrath, the black blade already whispering in anticipation. Shadowy embers flickered along its edge, eager—hungry. Especially against something so similar to its kind. Undead.
"Thanks, Hirru. Impecable timing." she murmured, eyes now fixed on the creature ahead.
The Spectral Knight stood in defiance before them—humanoid, and not lacking in presence. The light bounced off its form like it couldn’t decide if it wanted to reflect or absorb. Its warped reflections distorted into echoes of a someone who might've once worn armor with pride. Now, nothing more than a revenant of code and corruption, a shell dressed in mimicry, dangerous only in how human it still moved. She tilted her head slightly, watching its stance, its weapon, the subtle flex of its arm.
Wulfrin’s voice cut through the static: corrupted NPCs.
Ariel didn’t flinch. She’d seen this before. Maybe not exactly this—but monsters that used to be people? That stopped bothering her after the second floor.
No speeches. No hesitation.
She stepped into position, heels gliding across the cracked terrain. Her left thumb nudged the tsuba of her katana, the blade still sheathed but already singing beneath her touch. Her stance narrowed... Iai ready, shoulders relaxed, eyes sharp. The moment the Knight shifted forward, the rest followed and so did Ariel. With a sudden snap of motion, she vanished forward—black flames trailing like ribbons in her wake, her blade already halfway drawn.
Steel flashed. Shadow followed.
There would be no ceremony. No regret.
Only the cut... A low and fast; critical arc across its midsection, cutting through glass like paper. The Spectral Knight seemed to have staggered back, cracks spiderwebbing across its frame as a digital hiss escaped from within its chest. A slight smile formed on her expression, it seems that were more Fallen users in this party. No wonder Nihilim was so restless, more than usual.Ariel exhaled once through her nose. No wasted words. No wasted motion. She rolled her neck, adjusting her grip, already ready for the next strike.

On her way to the 1st floor teleporter, Ariel was gently massaging her shoulders after releasing a short sigh. What initially was planned as a visit at her mentor's shop; turned out to be a half day's of work, for her and her "bodyguards". *Yawn*"Sensei this was not the job we were promised today." said one of them as she brushed her hand against her (now filled) left pouch. "Although the pay was definitely better, right Hank?"
"Couldn't agree more!" boomed the armored paladin, the shield on his back slightly rattling as he lets out a hearty laugh."Yare yare" muttered Ariel, smiling at the fact that the Col in their pockets came from her own. That greedy witch didn't want to pay them anything for all their hard work. As her smile started raising eyebrows, a new message appeared before the three. Her expression turned serious in a flash as she silently read the words: FATAL ERROR.
The others had their eyes glued to the screen, various emotions taking over their expression. Before they could turn towards Ariel, she lifted her hand and sent a quick message towards her estate's maid. Then with a reassuring smile pated the students on the head. "Let's see what this is all about." she added in a calm tone before changing their destination from floor 22 to the current frontlines: floor 29. If she was to find any more details, it will most likely be there.
As they stepped foot on the new floor, a new message drew their attention. This time from a fellow player. She turns towards her two companions and tasks them with helping the rear with their fortifications.
"I'll go see what's with this new leadership. Don't take risks, go back to the Valley is things get dicey here. Keep me updated regularly!" Wish a short whistle, Kimba her familiar appears next to her and they start dashing towards pointed location. Seeing several figures from the last raid team at the destination she slows down, eventually stopping to catch her breath. Then with a raised hand she greets the present party:"Glad to see I'm not late to the party!" her keen sight spots the aforementioned fest and the blonde helps herself with some samples.

Ariel’s breath came in shallow gasps, her body frozen in place as she watched the corrupted beast stagger forward. The grotesque transformation of the forest around her mirrored her own dwindling strength. Her vision blurred, flickering with remnants of black flames that still licked the edge of her blade. Every muscle in her body ached, screaming for respite, yet she stood firm, rooted like one of the dying oaks around her.
The air burned her lungs, acrid and vile, the foul stench of decay filling her senses. The violet haze clouded her thoughts, and for a moment, she felt the weight of despair settle on her shoulders. Her energy bar flashed again, a faint, mocking red warning of her limits. This fight should’ve ended already. Yet the monster pressed on, its hulking form a relentless reminder of the curse they were up against.
In the stillness, her mind quieted just enough to find a fleeting clarity. She exhaled deeply, forcing herself to focus on the here and now. Her stillness allowed her energy to return, just an ounce—barely more than a flicker. It wasn’t enough for a grand display, but it would have to suffice.
Ariel’s hand moved to the hilt of her katana, the blade’s dark sheen dimmed, as though sharing her exhaustion. The black flames had receded, no longer a roaring inferno but a quiet, smoldering ember. Yet even in its subdued state, the cursed weapon answered her call. Its power, like hers, was stubborn and unyielding.
Her voice was barely a whisper, but it carried the weight of her resolve. “One more time… we’ll end this, you and I.”
With her energy pooled for one more strike, Ariel shifted her stance. Her knees bent, body low to the ground, and she tightened her grip. The world blurred as she honed in on the beast’s staggering form, its HP bar slithering deep into the red. Her surroundings—the twisted forest, the corrupted air, the chaos of the battlefield—faded into nothingness. All that mattered was her target.
With a burst of speed, Ariel darted forward, her katana a shadow slicing through the vile haze. She released everything she had into the strike—a final, desperate bid to bring the beast down. The blade cut through the air, trailing faint streaks of black fire as it cleaved toward the monster’s side.

Ariel stood still amidst the chaos, her grip on her blade tightening as the black flames coiled hungrily along its edge. The monstrous creature—a grotesque amalgamation of rage and corruption—towered over the battlefield. She refused to grant it dignity by calling it anything more than what it was: a monster.
Hirru’s rallying cry cut through the noise, but she barely registered the words. Her focus was absolute. End this. That was all that mattered.
The katana pulsed in her hand, a dark, eager rhythm resonating with her own. It mirrored her exhaustion, her resolve, and the fragments of energy she still clung to. The red bar flashing at the edge of her vision was a grim reminder: this was her last chance. There would be no second strike anytime soon.
Ariel shifted her stance, planting her feet firmly as she aligned herself with the monster. No hesitation. One strike. It ends here. She drew a slow, measured breath, her body and blade becoming one. Her energy poured into her strongest IaI SA, the black flames of Nihilim's Wrath roaring to life, wrapping around the blade like the promise of annihilation.
Her voice was steady, quiet. “Monster… this is your end.”
The world seemed to still. Ariel's hand moved with blinding speed, unsheathing Nihilim’s Wrath in a single motion. The IaI strike ripped through the battlefield, a torrent of black flames lashing out in a crescent arc. The shadowy inferno seemed alive, seeking out its prey with unrelenting fury, bypassing everything to tear into the monster's hulking form.
The flames burned brighter, hotter, before finally subsiding, leaving only charred ground and a trail of destruction in their wake. Ariel stood motionless, her katana already sheathed, but her breath came in heavy, labored gasps. If she moved another inch she would probably colapse from exhaustion. Her blurry vision swam slightly, the flashing red bar in her peripheral seemed to mock her depleted strength. She’d spent everything she had left, every ounce of energy, in that one final strike.
This was it. She could do no more damage for the time being. Now, it was up to the others to finish what she’d started—if the monster was still standing after that. Ariel gritted her teeth, holding her ground. Whatever comes next, I’ll see it through.

The moment Mina’s anguished cry pierced the dark, Ariel paused, her blade hovering mid-swing. For a heartbeat, the battlefield's chaos dulled, muffled by the oppressive weight of that singular voice. She didn’t turn. Didn’t flinch. She didn’t need to see what had transpired. The finality in the sound told her everything.
Another one falls.
Her grip on Nihilim’s Wrath tightened, the blackened steel responding with an eerie glow, shadow flames licking hungrily at the mist-choked air. This wasn’t unexpected. Freyd was capable—had been capable. She had recognized that much about him in their few interactions. He wasn’t supposed to be the one to go down, and yet…
A sigh escaped her lips, audible only to herself amidst the cacophony. It wasn’t born of grief or despair; she had no room for such indulgences, they still had a job to do. It was frustration—at the inefficiency of this group, at the predictability of their weakness, and perhaps, just faintly, at the loss of a capable ally.
Her gaze snapped back to the lumbering mass of Callisto, its grotesque form towering, mocking. The roiling corruption that oozed from its wounds seemed to pulse in time with the despair of those around her, feeding on it. The boss reveled in their chaos.
“Fools... all of us.” Ariel muttered under her breath.
With precise, practiced steps, she surged forward, bypassing the writhing vines that lashed out blindly. The faint flicker of her health bar’s movement as one grazed her shoulder went unnoticed. She had no time for distractions.
Her Katana ignited in full as Ariel leapt, the cursed weapon thrumming in the blonde's hands like a predator scenting blood. With one fluid motion, she drove it deep into Callisto’s flank. Black flames erupted in an instant, consuming flesh and fur alike, their heatless inferno crawling unnaturally across its body.
Ariel didn’t linger to admire her work. She pivoted, wrenching the blade free in a spray of corrupted ichor. The shadow flames clung to Callisto, spreading rapidly, leaving its left side charred and exposed, blackened bone visible beneath.
“Enough of this...” she said, her voice low but cutting through the din. Her cold, steel-gray eyes narrowed at the towering monstrosity. “If you wish to mourn, do it after this abomination is ash.”
She returned to her stance, the shadows of her weapon still burning on the beast. A steadying breath escaped her as she prepared for her next strike. Ariel wasn’t here to grieve the fallen. She was here to finish the fight.

Ariel moved swiftly through the chaos, the sickly mist clinging to her skin as the roars of Callisto echoed across the decayed battlefield. The beast was massive, its relentless attacks scattering the players like leaves in a storm, but Ariel’s focus remained razor-sharp. The cursed blade in her hands burned with Nihilim’s fire, the shadowy flames flickering and twisting as if feeding on her will.
She darted toward the boss as Yuki’s pink spear briefly stunned the creature, her eyes locked on the massive wound in its shoulder. The ichor seeping from its hide reeked of decay, but Ariel pressed forward, her boots splashing through the foul muck beneath her.
The vines that had assaulted the party moments ago retreated, and Callisto’s wounds seemed to heal in the wake of the putrid spores, but Ariel didn’t falter. “A minor setback...” she muttered, her voice drowned out by the cacophony of battle.
Channeling every ounce of her dwindling energy, Ariel lunged forward with an explosive burst of speed. Her katana flashed in a wide arc, the cursed flames roaring to life as they connected with Callisto’s flank. The impact sent a plume of dark fire crackling across the beast’s fur, the searing energy leaving behind jagged blackened scars.
Landing deftly a few paces away, she steadied herself, her breathing heavy. Her MP bar flashed in her peripheral vision—nearly depleted now, but still enough to keep going. She adjusted her grip on the hilt, the dark flames licking hungrily along the blade.
“Just a little longer...” she murmured under her breath, her gaze locked onto the corrupted beast.

Ariel tightened her grip on her weapon, feeling its dark energy pulse in response to her determination. The black flames licking along the blade seemed to intensify as Callisto let out another guttural roar, its massive form staggering under the party’s relentless assault. The beast's crimson eyes locked onto her for a brief moment, and Ariel’s lips curled into a grim smile.
“Let’s finish this...” she muttered under her breath.
With Yuki’s stun holding Callisto momentarily in place, Ariel surged forward. Her katana moved with a blur of deadly precision, slicing through the corrupted air. The shadowy flames surrounding the blade erupted, leaving a burning trail of searing darkness as it cleaved deep into Callisto’s shoulder.
The beast seemed to howl in agony, its roar reverberating through the decayed valley as ichor spilled from the wound. Ariel stepped back quickly, resetting her stance and preparing for its retaliation. She glanced briefly at NIGHT and Yuki, relief washing over her at their recovery, before returning her attention to the fight.
Her eyes flicked to her MP bar in the corner of her vision, the pale blue steadily draining with each skillful strike. It was the most depleted among the party, a testament to her relentless efforts. She clenched her jaw, knowing she couldn’t afford to hold back despite the dwindling resource. Every strike counted, and the team needed her at full force.
The weight of Callisto’s rage and corruption pressed heavy on the battlefield, but Ariel’s resolve burned just as fiercely. With her katana cloaked in Nihilim’s black flames, she murmured: “Like the raid bosses before you, beast, you’re not invincible. We’ll take you down.”

Ariel’s pulse quickened as NIGHT was wrenched from her stance and clamped in Callisto’s jaws, the bear’s primal fury making the air feel thick and charged. Her silver gaze narrowed, tracking each movement as the beast crushed NIGHT in its relentless grip, her friend’s struggle evident even from a distance.
Her hands tightened around the hilt of Nihilim’s Wrath, the dragon’s fang responding to her will as if it could feel her own growing resolve. Dark flames flickered to life along the katana’s edge, their shadows curling like smoke, hungry to strike.
“Hold on, NIGHT!” Ariel’s voice was resolute as she pushed through the bog, each step drawing her closer to Callisto. Positioning herself with a low stance, she braced for an opportunity as the others worked to disorient the massive creature.
In one swift, lethal motion, Ariel surged forward, her cursed blade flashing with shadowy fire as she cut deep into the beast’s haunch. Her strike was relentless, the black flames licking at the wound, leaving a dark scar that smouldered even as she withdrew. She could feel the satisfaction of the cursed blade, its flames stoked by the clash of raw power and vengeance.
Ariel slid back, preparing for the bear’s next move, eyes fixed on the writhing creature. “We’re getting you out of this!” she called, her voice steady as she awaited the next opening to strike.

Ariel’s gaze flicked between the spectral forms drifting through the bog and the thrashing Callisto, feeling the weight of the stories etched in their grim surroundings. Each step in the swamp released memories from the ground like breaths of death itself, the cries of creatures and the silent suffering of an ancient wood now all woven into Callisto’s very being. Ariel felt a pang of understanding—this revenant bear was born from vengeance, not merely malice. And though she had no role in this place’s ruin, she would fight, resolute, for the sake of her party.
A faint smirk tugged at her lips as Night called to Yuki, urging their coordination. Ariel’s blade had cut deep earlier, but Callisto’s raw, ceaseless fury showed no signs of abating. Gripping her katana with both hands, she took a steadying breath, then charged, slipping past the frontliners to close the gap in a low, measured stance. She timed her movements, waiting until Night’s strike landed before she surged forward.
Her grip on the hilt tightened, her intent channelling directly into the blade. As if sensing her desire, black flames began to lick along Nihilim’s Wrath, consuming its edge in flickering shadow. The cursed weapon pulsed with dark energy, each flame whispering Nihilim’s endless vengeance as they coiled and expanded, flowing like a second skin over the blade.
With a single, fluid movement, Ariel surged forward, directing all her focus into her strike. The flames left a dark afterimage as her blade cut through the decayed air, bearing down on Callisto’s massive form. There was no defense to resist it; the flames seemed to pass through flesh, bone, and spirit alike, fueled by the wielder's will.
As she drew back, a smoldering scar was left in her katana’s wake, dark ichor spilling from the deep wound. Ariel’s silver gaze was steady, each breath measured as she prepared to continue.

Ariel took stock of the battlefield, watching as Yuki rallied with her usual charisma, gathering the party’s focus. Night tossed the crystal toward Yuki, calling out to coordinate as she bolted past Callisto. Ariel appreciated the fluid teamwork as they shifted positions and adjusted strategies, a sign of how tightly knit this party had become.
The blonde moved deliberately, her eyes trained on Callisto’s decaying form, its hateful eyes flashing with twisted malevolence. She had seen creatures that wanted nothing more than to survive, but Callisto fought with something darker, something like vengeance. The ground pulsed beneath them, a disorienting miasma drifting from Callisto, causing a bizarre warping of their vision and surroundings. She tensed, recognizing the toll it was taking on her teammates. But she was spared its full wrath despite being the primary target. Her stance deepened as she readied herself to make the most of this opening.
With one powerful, fluid motion, she advanced, executing another devastating Iai strike. Her katana flashed as it sliced through Callisto’s side, the impact of her strike sending a fresh spray of dark ichor arcing through the air. She could feel the bite of her blade as it cut deep, carving a jagged line through the decaying flesh. Callisto’s massive form faltered slightly, giving the others a chance to land their hits, and Ariel took satisfaction in the visible toll her attack had taken.
Just as quickly, she reset her stance, her eyes alert as she scanned the group. Yuki had drawn the attention and was already mitigating the latest round of attacks, while Night regrouped, preparing her next strike. Ariel caught Yuki’s eye briefly, giving a short nod of encouragement to reinforce the Paladin’s morale.

Ariel watched as the party made their way into the basin, her eyes carefully scanning their surroundings. The oppressive atmosphere weighed on everyone, but her own resolve held firm. This wasn’t her first encounter with such a grotesque setting, and it wouldn’t be her last. She understood the toll such sights could take on those less seasoned in combat, especially the newer players. Her calm demeanor was a rock in the chaos, a trait she had honed over time.
The Paladin, Yuki, was confident as always, but Ariel noticed the subtle shift when she realized her build wasn’t suited for the situation. She could see Yuki’s slight falter as she searched frantically through her inventory. Ariel didn’t need to intervene, knowing Yuki was resourceful enough to recover, but still, the thought flickered in her mind.
When the Japanese Spider Lilies came into view, Ariel’s expression softened momentarily. Higanbana, she thought, recalling the late summer and early autumn months when her family had tended to similar flowers in their garden. To her, these red blooms symbolized more than death and despair—they were also tied to rebirth, the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.
Her gaze returned to the necrotic bear, now staring them down with black, hate-filled eyes. The wriggling maggots and festering wounds covering its massive frame would’ve shaken lesser players, but Ariel’s grip on her weapon's handle tightened instead. This was no ordinary foe, and she could feel the malice radiating from it as clearly as the decayed air surrounding them.
Her eyes flicked between Yuki, who was struggling to find the right crystals, and Night, whose attempt at stealth had failed. Despite the tension, Ariel’s voice remained steady as she called out to the group. “We’re not just fighting a beast...” she said, her tone clear and commanding. “Stay sharp and work together—we can’t afford mistakes here.”
When Night showed the healing crystal, Ariel gave her a nod of approval, appreciating the quick thinking. As Yuki prepared herself, Ariel added: “You’ve got this. We’ve all faced moments where things didn’t go as planned. Adapt, and we’ll overcome this thing.”
Ariel’s thoughts shifted back to Callisto, her instincts warning her of the danger ahead. This wasn’t just about brute strength—it was about understanding the enemy and working together to outmaneuver it. She had seen how a lack of cohesion could doom a group, and she wasn’t about to let that happen here.
Her calm demeanor and thoughtful approach would help steady the others, but she knew it would take more than just words to survive this encounter. She prepared herself mentally, knowing full well this battle wasn’t going to be a simple fight—it was a test of their collective will. And as one of the veterans in the group, it was her role to make sure they all walked out alive.
Ariel took a slow, steadying breath, her fingers brushing over the sheath of her katana. She had watched, guided, and steadied her party, but now it was time to act. She positioned herself to make her strike, the memories of countless battles flashing through her mind.
Without a word, she slipped into her stance, her body shifting to a low crouch as her hand settled on the hilt of her blade. Every muscle in her body tensed, focused on that single, defining moment. Her breathing slowed, aligning with the calm she felt just before an Iai strike—the calm before the storm.
With a swift, practiced motion, Ariel drew her katana in one fluid arc, the blade gleaming as it sliced through the air toward the beast. The strike was over almost as quickly as it began, her sword slipping back into its sheath with a resonant click. A faint line appeared across Callisto’s torso, and a split-second later, the flesh parted as the devastating force of her attack took its toll. Dark ichor sprayed from the wound. She let a small smirk reveal on her expression.
Ariel’s eyes remained on her target, her stance unwavering as she took in the creature’s reaction. The impact of her Iai strike should had been significant, and it had left an opening for the others to strike. She allowed herself a small, resolute smile, ready to continue.

She almost didn't make it, or as other would say.. she was fashionably late. Most of the task force was already here, so she simply walked around, waved at the few that recognized her and move on before any small talk could happened. She would have the notes gathered until now, about the following fight, in front of her in digital format. Her finger would slide to the side, from top to bottom then stopping at the latest party groupings that she'd be updated on.
With her other hand she opened another window with her inventory and rummaged though the goodies bag that Zandra gave her at the meeting. Basic stuff, but welcomed in addition to what other feasts she saw lying around from her teammate. She took a sample of what she judged best for improve her stats. She let out a small sigh as, she was making the final check-ups, she noticed her trademark skill being disabled. Fortunately she was kinda expecting this and adjusted everything else accordingly.

Ariel listened intently as Freyd recounted the events of the scouting mission, her silver eyes narrowing slightly at the mention of the stench of death that had filled the chamber. The description of bodies, torn apart and left intact by the system, was unsettling, and her mind wandered back to the floor 25 labyrinth boss, where something similar had occurred.
At the mention of Gebrandr, her lips tightened, and a flicker of irritation passed through her usually calm demeanor. She winced slightly, remembering how her advice had been ignored during the situation with the regent. She had wanted to kill the NPC, believing it was the only safe course, but ultimately, the decision was made to spare Gebrandr and continue forward. She had believed it was a mistake, but in the end, she had to live with the choice of the group and excused herself from what came after.
Then Jomei spoke up, pulling Ariel back into the present. She nodded slightly, aligning with his thoughts. The scene Freyd had described felt far too ominous to overlook. The bodies left intact, the whispers that filled their minds, and the oppressive atmosphere—it all pointed toward something worse than just a singular boss.
"I agree with Jomei!" Ariel said, her voice quiet but firm. "If those bodies haven’t disintegrated like player remains normally would, it could very well mean they’re likely to reanimate at some point after we step inside. We’ve seen it before on earlier floors... undead or cursed entities that rise again. In our case, it was a possessed dragon!" She paused, her mind working through the implications as she remembered the events on floor 25.
"We should prepare not just for the boss, but for whatever reinforcements may come to its aid. If the whispers are as strong as you say, they could also have an effect on our morale and focus during the fight. That, and the 'all-consuming night' part can hint towards some sort of debuff or penalty on the raid party, perchance?" Her gaze moved between the others gathered, gauging their reactions.
Letting out a small sigh she added, half raising her hand in front of her, her tone a bit more relaxed: "After that description, I for one am adding my Night Vision mod to the arsenal. I'd like to see whatever's lurking in the dark before it decides to make a move on us." -
Ariel sat by the water, her line cast, but her attention flickered between the calm surface and the little lioness, Kimba, who had now taken it upon herself to test Hanzoku's resolve. Ariel couldn't help but smile softly at the scene. Kimba’s playful nature was a constant source of amusement, but this time it seemed like even the small feline couldn’t break Hanzoku’s trance.
With a flick of her wrist, Ariel felt a tug on her fishing line. She braced herself, reeling it in with a smooth, practiced motion. The fish fought briefly, but soon enough, Ariel pulled it from the water—a sizeable catch, its shimmering scales reflecting the light as it wriggled in the air. She chuckled, admiring the catch for a moment before setting it aside.
Meanwhile, Kimba, perplexed by Hanzoku’s unshakable focus, stared back at Ariel as if asking for guidance. Ariel gave the little lioness a small shrug and a grin as if to say, "I guess he's just that focused."
But Kimba wasn’t satisfied. She batted at Hanzoku one last time, with more determination, the soft paw on his forehead barely earning a flicker of response. With a soft huff, Kimba trotted back toward Ariel, her mission to distract the meditating man officially unsuccessful.
Ariel laughed softly as she reached down to give Kimba a gentle pat on the head, her silver eyes glancing back at Hanzoku with a hint of admiration. He had done it—found a place of deep peace that even Kimba's antics couldn't disturb.
As she set her line once again, Ariel wondered if she should try something a little louder next time. Perhaps tossing a pebble again or… something less friendly.

Ariel moved gracefully through the crowd, her elegant attire catching the eyes of a few passersby. She wore a deep blue furisode made of fine silk, the flowing sleeves adorned with intricate embroidery of cranes and cherry blossoms. The gold and silver obi at her waist, tied in a flawless knot, was a reflection of her meticulous craftsmanship. As a skilled tailor, she had designed and created the entire outfit herself for this formal occasion, ensuring every detail was perfect. Her blonde hair was neatly pinned up, a jade hairpin adding a final, personal touch to the ensemble. The soft click of her wooden geta accompanied her as she walked, taking in the lively atmosphere around her.
Noticing a familiar face in the crowd so far, Ariel waved gently at Yuki, offering her a friendly smile. The paladin’s presence was comforting, as was the sight of other key players gathered for what seemed to be the long-awaited raid meeting? wedding reception? both? Word through the grapevine was that the scouting team had found the next floor boss room after her recent retreat, and naturally, Ariel was eager to attend so that she could get first hand intel. She never would have guessed that it would be held alongside such a celebratory atmosphere. Her silver eyes scanned the area, looking for someone to confirm through an announcement or a more subtle way, where the meeting would be held as she seamlessly navigated between the wedding guests and adventurers.

With a quick glance at Han, who seemed deeply immersed in his meditation, Ariel signaled to Kimba, who had been lazily lounging nearby. The little lioness perked up at her command, her ears twitching with curiosity. Ariel had trained Kimba well, and the familiar knew exactly what to do.
Kimba darted off into the bushes, her agile form disappearing into the undergrowth. Moments later, there was a sudden rustling sound, followed by a low growl. The bushes near Han rustled violently as Kimba emerged, pouncing playfully in front of him, her claws extended just enough to rake across the ground with a dramatic flourish. She then let out a sharp, playful roar, a noise that could easily startle anyone who wasn't prepared for it.
As Kimba pranced around, pretending to be a threat before settling back down with a satisfied flick of her tail, Ariel couldn't help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity. How deep had Han gone into his meditation? Would this sudden burst of energy from Kimba pull him out of his focus, or had he truly found his center amidst the storm? The answer would reveal just how far Han had come in mastering his mind.

Ariel continued to fish quietly, her silver eyes glancing occasionally at Han as he sank deeper into his meditation. She could see the change in him—a subtle but noticeable shift in his posture as his breathing became more even and his muscles relaxed. It was a significant step, one that spoke to his growing ability to find calm in the chaos of their world.
As Ariel felt a sudden, strong tug on her fishing line, she instinctively braced herself. With a practiced hand, she began to reel in whatever had taken the bait, expecting a larger-than-average fish. However, as the line came closer, she couldn't help but let out an excited yelp as she realized it was something entirely different.
The water rippled more intensely, and with a final pull, she brought up a small, weathered treasure chest, its surface encrusted with moss and mud. Intrigued, the blonde set the fishing rod aside and carefully opened the chest. Inside, she found some items, their details obscured by a faint, shimmering aura that indicated they needed to be appraised. She quietly stored the chest and its contents in her inventory, saving the appraisal for later. Except for the Dungeon Map, she added that to her collection!

Ariel watched Han's reaction with a mix of understanding and empathy. His instinctive movement and subsequent apology highlighted the depth of his struggle with relaxation, a challenge that was all too common for those in his position. The sight of his flushed cheeks and his quick adjustment of posture gave her insight into his mindset—one that remained guarded and on edge despite the apparent safety of their surroundings.
Instead of responding verbally, Ariel chose a more subtle approach. She offered Han a reassuring smile, one meant to convey encouragement without breaking his focus further. Her expression was gentle, an acknowledgment of his effort and a silent reassurance that he was doing well, even if it didn't always feel that way.
With the smallest of splashes and a ripple that barely disturbed the surface, Ariel continued her quiet fishing. She kept a watchful eye on Han, ready to offer support or adjust the level of distraction as needed, but for now, she allowed the peaceful setting to remain as undisturbed as possible.

Ariel observed Han carefully as he settled onto the rock, preparing himself. His initial hesitation didn’t go unnoticed, and she could tell that this was not his comfort zone. But that was precisely the point of this exercise. She needed to see how he handled himself when he was pushed into unfamiliar territory.
With a soft sigh, Ariel turned her attention to the fishing rod in her hands, a peaceful activity she started enjoying only after being stuck in this death game. She cast the line into the water, watching the ripples spread out and listening to the quiet sounds of nature. For a moment, she allowed herself to relax as well, finding her own center as she felt the gentle pull of the current.
As she waited for a bite, Ariel remembered the small distraction she had planned. Reaching for a pebble by her side, she weighed it lightly in her palm before tossing it a few feet away from where Han sat. The stone skipped across the surface of the water with a soft plunk, sending ripples toward Han’s position. Ariel watched him closely, her silver eyes narrowing slightly as she assessed his reaction.
The soft splash wasn’t meant to be a major disturbance, just a subtle nudge to see how deep into his meditation he really was. As she continued to fish, Ariel couldn’t help but feel a quiet satisfaction at Han’s effort so far. He was taking this seriously, and that was nothing to scuff at. Luckily, she managed to catch a fish after her little stunt.

Ariel watched the scene unfold with a mixture of amusement and admiration. Han's unexpected leap through the bush had been a clever move, and his quick reflexes had earned him a small victory over the ever-playful Kimba. The little lioness wriggled in his arms, her dignity slightly bruised, but her eyes still sparkling with the thrill of the game. Ariel couldn't help but smile as Han released Kimba, who scampered back to her spot, flicking her tail in playful defiance. As Han bowed and suggested continuing with a best two out of three, Ariel considered his suggestion thoughtfully. The determination he had shown was commendable, and his willingness to take on the challenge headfirst was a good sign of his resolve.
"Impressive work, Han-dono!" Ariel began, her silver eyes meeting his with approval. "I think that's enough of that for now. You can have your rematch some other time," she added, glancing at her familiar with a fond smile. "I have something else in mind for what comes next. For now, let's change location."
She gestured toward a quiet spot by a fishing pond nearby where the water flowed gently, creating a calming backdrop of soft ripples and rustling leaves. "This time, I want to see your focus. We'll stay by this pond, and you'll try to meditate here. The goal is to remain unbothered by your surroundings, no matter what distractions come your way."
Ariel's gaze remained steady as she awaited Han's response, curious to see how he would handle this test of mental fortitude. With a flick of her wrist, she navigated through her menu and materialized a fishing rod, repurposed from the net gifted to her by Amphitrite on a previous quest.
[ EV | F29 ] A Fatal Error Has Occurred. {Spectral Knight Combat}
in Intermediate Floors
Posted · Edited by Ariel - The Crowned Lion
The tempo shifted.
With the Knight reeling, and Yuki drawing its attention elsewhere, Ariel moved without hesitation. Her eyes tracked the enemy’s staggered footing—the instability in its mirrored frame, the widening cracks from the earlier strikes. She could feel Nihilim’s Wrath pulse with quiet excitement in her grip. The blade was humming now—not just from magic, but from familiarity. This thing was too close to the kind of enemy it was meant to cut down.
Across the haze, Wulfrin’s voice rang out:
“DoTs seem to stick to it!”
Ariel’s eyes flicked his way—just briefly. A smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth. Though she said nothing. Her build didn’t need DoTs.
Instead, she moved.
The Spectral Knight barely managed to reset its footing before Ariel was in its face again. Her form was fluid—deliberate. The stance transitioned seamlessly from her last motion; no wasted pivot, no excess flourish. She dipped low, blade sheathed again only for the purpose of delivering her second Iai technique with full force.
Nihilim’s Wrath roared—shadow flames igniting with violent intent as she drew the weapon in a controlled, brutal arc, the cursed katana cleaving clean through the knight’s chest.
The impact was immediate.
A shattering crack, then silence.
Fractures exploded across the Spectral Knight’s body, the corrupted glass frame unable to hold itself together under the weight of the strike. Its sword faltered, dropping like dead weight to the ground. With a final hiss, the light inside it flickered—then vanished.
The Knight crumbled. Nothing elegant—just a collapse of jagged armor and phantom limbs, undone by a weapon that was never meant to show mercy.
Ariel exhaled, blade angled downward, shadowy flames fizzling out along the edge as she reset her stance. She turned her gaze briefly to Wulfrin, the smirk still faint on her lips.
“Guess some of us just go straight for the kill.”
As the battlefield stilled for a breath, she approached the Knight’s remains—just shards now, soft light still twitching in their edges like dying nerves. Her eyes narrowed as something caught her attention—a glint that didn't fade like the rest.
She knelt briefly, fingers brushing aside fractured data until they landed on a small, metallic object, half-buried and dimly pulsing with residual corruption.
[Unidentified T4 Trinket] hovered faintly above it. Strange runes lined its edge—familiar, but not enough to place.
She rose, already turning toward the next fight. The smirk was gone, but the focus remained.
“Let’s keep moving.”
