  1. It had been some time since he had ever seen the like, but the face was indescribably his.  The jaw line, the hair, the pure lack of weaponry upon their body.  There were many people like him, but he knew far too well this one.

    ***

Hirru had remembered that he was going to meet the others on the ninth floor, to get the last TECH art for a few of the other members of Jacob's Ladder.  The Jade Hunter had not been to the lower floors as often as he used to.  Since he didn't live in the guild hall of the Knights of the Blood Oath anymore, he mostly stayed up on the higher floors where his new home was.  As he stood upon the hot volcanic floor, he remembered that Survival was not part of his repertoire of extra skills, anymore.  He could feel the heat now, and it was sweltering underneath his heavy armor.  Even more so now with the change of armor sets, he was now head to toe covered in silver paladins armor.

"Bloody hell, if we can get through this thing fast, I would..."

He looked around the portal area and realized that no one else from the group was here.  That was odd?  They should be here by now, shouldn't they?  He opened his menu to check the time, and saw that the time was correct.  However, the date wasn't.  He pulled out a few things of food, to eat before the realization kicked in..

"Oh dammit.. I'm a day early.  Well, might as well.."

He turned to go back into the teleporter when he saw a face enter through the portal.  One that helped him so long ago with several quests, but more so, was an old member of the Knights of the Blood Oath.  He looked so much different from before, but that was just how time worked.  For the hunter, though, his face was covered in his helmet; which meant his iconic green hair was hidden to everyone now.  Would the man still remember him?  One of the original members of the Knights and Crimson Blades?  Surely..

    ***

Tailing behind the man, Hirru watched as it seemed that he was starting the Iron Guardian quest line.  It was a simple quest one could take here, but the reward had changed since the last time he had completed it.  Maybe, it would be something of use to him.  Though, the worst part would be from the <<Mysterious Broker>> as he would attack the player at the end of the quest, if everything is still the same.  The Jade Hunter sighed before calling out to the white haired individual, this voice unusually muffled in the bucket helm that covered his face.  Nothing on his person would denote that he was once his former guild member, as Hirru long since left the Knights of the Blood Oath.

"Ahoy there!  Fancy some help?  I may not look it, but I'm a decent healer."

  2. {OOC: Since this has gone into obscurity, and the little plot went a little overboard; I'm just gonna turn the combat off and go into RP combat for the rest.  Honestly, should have done that in the beginning, but 3.0 was just starting and I wanted to try some things out.}

Randall had the right idea, as these things weren't really that tough.  In fact, they weren't even hurting him at all.  So why should he take them seriously at all.  The critters were gnawing away at his armor, but there was little to no damage to him.  He didn't have battle healing, so the damage was still sticking though.  If he didn't do something, the chip damage may build up into more than just chips.

    "*sigh* Yeah, I've got this."

Although the arms were wrapped around him, and the teeth that seemed to be elongated were settled into him, he was able to push himself up.  The claws scratched and stretched out as he stood up before Hirru's blade pierced through one and then another.  Each was just a single sword art, the simples that a two handed straight sword user could use, <<Scooped>>, a three hit combo that cuts a V through the legs before a final uppercut slashes through the middle.  It's not that powerful, but it's enough to kill these things, and it could be repeated constantly without a cooldown.  One by one, each of the remaining Twisted Ones would fall before they were finally out of mild danger.

"Alright, I think that wraps things up.  Let's find any more players that have been trapped and get out of here."

  3. Hirru realized the oddity of his question and was sure that Baldur was hesitant to answer from such a disturbing question.  Were there three people there that may or may not exist only in Hirru's head?  What a ridiculous thing to ask one of the few people that he trusted beyond any other.  He didn't want to seem more out of place than he already was, and just waved off the question.  This was better than letting his mind be questioned upon it's sanity, any more than it previously has.

"Nevermind, my mind has been all over the place, since we beat that little side event."

There was too much to look into for his mental health, that he didn't want to worry Baldur any more than there already was.  Apparently, losing all of ones memories is rare.  Incredibly so, compared to others that has similar instances.  Although not much could be gleaned, since no one here was a medical expert, but most individuals that lose their memories lose either all short term memory processing, or partial long term memories.  If he could find someone that knew about it a bit more, or someone that was going through the same thing, maybe he could get a bit more knowledge about it.  Though, for now, he would have to deal with Baldur's council.

The bobber was still out in the water.  Usually the thing would have a bite by now.  He sighed as he reeled the line back in.

"This spot's dry.  Gonna have to go to the next pond."

This would happen occasionally happen when fishing in a certain spot will bring up reduced results.  The morning was still new, but it wouldn't last that way.  He needed to get at least a few more before breakfast was served.  Storing the rod and tackle, Hirru took the two fish that he had caught.

"Might as well walk this over to Snow.  Is she in the main kitchen?"

  4. Hirru heard the merchant before he saw who he was sending his way.  The merchant was very particular on calling the hunter by his shops title, Rune Scribe.  He sighed as there wasn't much to the rune readings that made up the appraisal process.  As the individual crossed the corner, he saw the signature green cloak of the Emerald Duelist.

"Jomei!  So good to see you."

He said as he was looking at the armor piece that they had been rewarded for defeating the Fog of Reminiscence.  That dungeon was still fresh in his mind as Jomei took out the other set and a few more items to be appraised.

"Okay, I've been meaning to appraise my own from that day."

  5. The plan seemed to work fairly well.  Although much of the plan seemed to hinge on his friends and some others, it seemed that there were more there than what he figured for.  As Calrex was bashing through the line, Hirru tried to get in between the enemies and bring up his shield to keep the wedge from closing behind him.  The soldiers that attacked or push back would be struck by intense pain as the sharp feathers of the shield would act as thorns, cracking blades and armor alike.  He heard Vig and Krysta, and the old man come along with the plan.  What he didn't expect was a green blur to drop down from the catwalks above and raze several of the backline, one by one.  It the Jomei!

    "How did he get there?"

He said before the line thinned out more for him to push in more.  Every time he would keep the line from enclosing more.  That was until an orange colored spear lanced through a few of the soldiers from behind.  Did Jomei learn something to use spears too?  As the bodies hit the floor, the healer could see that the one that threw the javelins was a very familiar face.  Hirru shook off one of the pieces of armor that stuck to his shield and raced back up to everyone that was gathering together.

"Gabrandr, you sunovabi.. I mean.  Good to see you!"

Behind him, a very frizzly blonde would follow behind him.

    "Shiina?"

He would ask before the other blonde in the room called them all forwards, towards the main control room.  Gabrandr seemed to be blazing the path through countless soldiers that would pass their way.  At some point, there were a few corridors that had no one, but there were quite a few scars around that seemed fairly familiar.  Someone with Fallen was nearby, which by the damage outside, he figured Koga was here somewhere around here, but some of the scars seemed to be more Freyd's MO.  They would probably meet them all later.

Even later, they would come across the red headed ship master from before.  She didn't really stay long, and raced forward before everyone.  It looked like everyone was in a hurry to get this done and over with.

    ***

Blasting through the main door, they were finally face to face with the haughty king himself, King Razwell.  Some health bars would erupt upon the king's visage, while a platoon of elite guardsmen surrounded the king.  Shields bare, and swords at the ready.  A weird stone was in his hand, which was pushing everyone back.  The crimson pirate went first, but only got one of the guardsmen instead of the king.  Shiina took to enveloping the crystal itself with a barrier.

"That's a good idea!  Keep it up, and I'll keep the energy flowing!"

Hirru said as he rubbed his hands together and placed a hand on her shoulder.  Yellow light would erupt from the point as he started sending some energy her way to keep the barrier up.  Though, the force of the stone was able to make cracks into the barrier.  Were they not able to control it?  It was then that the old man seemed to heal the barrier itself, by a small margin, but enough to keep things going.

"Good job!  Think you can keep that going?!"

The healer would call out before looking over to everyone else, but as he did, he saw one of the soldiers attacking Shiina.  His eyes flicked back as he would take a step forward to look towards the attack.  As it happened, Hirru's armament flew into action.  The shield flew into the path of the oncoming attack and pushed the soldier back into the group behind him.  Hirru was not expecting this, but it may have something to do with Gabrandr being there.  He had a bit more control over the shield.  In fact, wherever he looked, it seemed the shield would follow.  All the healer had to do, was keep still and feed energy to Shiina, while watching the surrounding fight to block with the shield.

"Take these guys out!  We'll hold the wind back for you!"

    Hirru uses Energize on Shiina
Free action: Hirru uses Fates Armament (Shield)

  6. Freyd had seemed to make the right move, and the story was small, but nothing that he wouldn't like to hear.  It was fun to hear that such interactions were possible, even in the middle of an odd quest.  Though, it would seem that this Vigilon was much more of a trouble maker than he originally thought.  Falling out of the sky is one thing, but having issues with others over some other discretion is a recipe for disaster.  Hirru would know, he has known quite a few of them in his time on the floating castle.  Though, he wouldn't mind hunting with the boy.  Misadventures brew up quite a bit of trouble, and trouble always leads to good stories and loot; both of which were his forte.

"Well, that seems like it was quite the ordeal to go through.  Not so much the quest, but the individual himself.  Though, I wouldn't mind tagging along in one of his mind benders.  Sounds like good practice for my healing."

Hirru bid goodbye to the Whisper, as it seemed that his guild mates were here, and Hirru would like to be with friends that were more familiar to his own ordeals, as well.  Baldur was quick to come to his side and thank him for catching a few of today's dishes.

"Glad to help out, Baldur.  I honestly don't know what else I could have done to help."

Hirru would say before getting into some of the food that was set out.  Most of this was probably done by Snow, as she was the only one that wouldn't burn all the food, and knew not to put swords on the fryer.  He was thankful of her ingenuity, as a few of these dishes were quite good, especially in appearance and taste.  He would have to talk to her properly, one of these days.

A sudden shriek would ring in Hirru's head, but it wasn't his mind playing tricks again.  Some blonde headed woman had yelled out about something of a movie star?  What the heck is a movie, and how would that really matter?  Hirru didn't understand the importance and the need to be that loud.  He just took a bite out of a piece of fish and let it be.

  7. Holding onto the sides of the craft when they finally had finally landed, the hunter shakily got out.  Although the barrier held through, his sanity did not.  If he could feel nauseated, it was definitely coming on now.  There was so much going on in that whole trip that Hirru could barely handle it all.  His eyes were wide as reality was slowly coming back to him.  They were in the belly of the beast, both literally and figuratively.  In the bowels of the giant flying ship, they were far from their intended goal, but that was all they could really do.  Baldur seemed to joke a bit, but Hirru wasn't having any of that.

"This isn't a time for jokes!"

Hirru snapped before getting his bearings back.  His breathing was still shaky, but there was something that needed to be done.  Baldur suggested that Hirru should hold front, to which the Jade Healer just looked over at @Shield, with a confused look.  It was then that he remembered that none of the shots hit them, due more to Baldur's evasion, Cro's insane swordsmanship, and @Calrex's even more insane parrying abilities.  The shield armament was still with him, as were the weapons that were also circling the others.  Hirru didn't know this @Plini, but if @Crozeph knew them, then they should be useful.  He took a deep breath in before going in.

    "Alright.. I think I'm good."

He straightened up before hearing a feminine voice call out to them.  A blonde haired player had called out to them.  He remembered seeing her with Vigilon and that old guy.  He tried to look around for Jomei, but it seemed that he was off doing his own thing.  It seemed that they were being held there with swarms of soldiers holding a tough shield wall.  Hirru's fear dwindled as his tactician side started to kick in.  Analysis running wild; Search activated expanding the range of his sight.  He could see the holes in their wall.  These were elite guards, but not without their flaws.

"Calrex!  Shield!  Smash through their defenses on the far right side, and I'll set up shop with my shield with yours!  Baldur!  Cro!  Follow behind, and pierce through the openings made by Calrex and Shield!  Force your way into the mass, and become a wedge into their line!"

He would hold his shield up high and an iridescent aura would envelop the whole the lot of them, giving them all more damage than they could possibly need.  This would negatively hurt him, but there wasn't much he could do with a bonk stick against well armored soldiers.

    "Press the attack!"

He would look back to the others.  Vig, Plini, the old man, and the blonde haired one.

"Follow through as well, and take out the shield users from behind as we push!  We do not want to be surrounded by those shields!"

    @Vigilon @Oji @Jomei

  8. Hirru groaned as sitting down was beginning to wear on the hunter's bottom.  There was a bit of thought that would have to go into the question at hand.  What did the hunter want to ask the whisper?  To be fair, he didn't really know.  All the stories that the hunter spouted were just things that he would have spoken about anyway.  What does one ask someone that won't disclose anything.

"Well, being that as it is, I won't ask anything too personal.  Instead, I'll just ask how you met Vigilon.  Although, I don't know the boy, to know that you met him after he fell from the sky does seem like an interesting story."

Hirru would pack up the pole as he stood up.  The fishing was done, for now, and he had a good haul of weaponry.  Maybe he would pass them around to those that didn't make it through the tournament.

"A good tale doesn't always have to be serious, nor apart of one self.  A single moment in our lives can be recounted to exhaustion, but for some, they can't get enough of it.  It doesn't have to be told as if you were there, or it could be, but you never really were.  It's how you present it.  Play with the contents, and make it interesting to the listener, not to yourself."

    He chuckled to himself.

"I guess what I'm saying is.  Don't worry about it too much.  I'm the one that lets the stories come out, anyway."

Hearing that the dinner was on, the hunter waved Freyd on.

"Come on, you can tell me with some food in our stomachs."

    @Freyd

  9. Tossing the line back out, he would glimpse the visage of the Ultramarine.  His appearance would prompt the hunter to give a curt wave before going back to the intended appointment.  He wanted to talk to Cal's wife, Teayre, once more, but he didn't think those opportunities would come up again.  It seemed like she was keeping herself at their old home, instead of living here at Baldur's estate.  Hirru didn't understand why, but with the way they talked back then; it didn't really seem to hard to speculate.  After Hirru's first raid, to where he was appointed Raid Leader, due to him copying how Mack would wrangle everyone together.  Teayre was the proper leader then, and the hunter had cut in on that part.  Ariel had egged on the red headed fighter to punish him, and said punishment was to take responsibility for everyone there.

It wasn't exactly that though, as Teayre explained to him.  Later, on a request from the crimson maiden, they talked properly about the matter.  It seemed that she was glad that everything went the way it did.  She felt that her leadership would not be followed as well as his would.  Hirru disagreed, as he was the newest to the front, and he didn't claim a single word against anyone.  He let the veterans do what they did best, and only took the lead for the squelching of those damned acid pools.  Still, she was happy to have known him, and gave him a single trinket of jade design.  She considered him family on that day, so he too considered her his sister.  Then she nearly died

'If only I could face you that last time, after the 23rd floor boss.  I'm sorry I didn't arrive when you called, Sis.. I..'

Hirru's thought would roll through his mind, that he nearly didn't hear Baldur praising him on his decisions during the last floor boss raid.  The ending of that fight was nothing that the hunter was wanting, nor was he really ready to do what he did.  It was just another moment where his actions played out without much thought to it.  Though, it seemed to work out a bit more for him, as he chose the route of information gathering, which was his main forte, rather than give straight mercy.  This for that.  Quid pro quo, whatever the hell that meant.  He did not expect for the issue to escalate the way it did.  It made him want to change his own vote.. he wanted to.. but..

"To be fair, I was ready to change my vote right then and there, when I had Koga's blade in my hand.  Raidou and Freyd's arguments were sound, and there I was blathering about consequences that could or couldn't happen."

The situation after didn't help the matter either.  There was no way he could have seen that they were going to fight through the skies.  Hirru's focus on the fishing would be interrupted as he felt that he needed to say something.

"How was I supposed to know we were going into an event with flying ships.  Flying Ships, Baldur!  I understand you've seen some things out there on the other side, but that wasn't on my confrontation list in this world."

Hirru's voice picked up a bit in confusion and wonder that he seemed to recover from fairly quickly.  Hirru had known about the other side for a couple years, but he didn't know everything there was about it.  If this was something that could be found in their world, he wondered what else there was out there.  He wished he could experience it all, or have the memories to reminisce.  That kind of information would be far too useful to the hunter, but there was something blocking him.  Though, he might be on to something that happened to him at that moment.  Hirru pulled on the line to make sure that nothing was on the line yet, and to reset his position a bit.

"With all that, though, I stayed my course and voted to spare the boss.  It helped us out quite a bit more than I thought.  Though, I think I may have more issues than I last thought."

The hunter joked before growing a serious look.

"During the boss fight, other than Calrex, was there someone with blue hair there?  A woman with pink hair?  A guy in full plate armor with brown hair, that was right behind me?"

Hirru would look to his friend in a stern manner, but there was a hint of worry in his eyes.  His brow would lighten slightly.

    "Not Shield.."

He finished, just to clarify that he knew better.

  10. A noise of wood bending to ones weight caught the hunter's ear, which he seemed to buff with his own search skills.  Line of sight, hearing and his own luck were all part of the package whenever he activated the skill.  Though, he nearly always had it active in the past.  Once he was able to grasp the proper measurements of the world and how to dictate dungeons and chests on sight, Hirru was then trying to concentrate his hearing too.  This, however, wouldn't really work to his advantage.  Using search on ones sight lengthens the distance one can perceive everything around, including hidden objects and rare instances.  For hearing, though, it would broaden the range to where one can hear, including through some solid walls.  This would be a drawback, as the system didn't care what information was given, it would give it all.  It was the player's job to focus on the one thing, and drown out the rest.

That there lied Hirru's problem: he couldn't ignore everything.

He had been fighting to gain as much knowledge about the world around him, just so he could gain a little semblance of his old memories.  Something to tell him that there was something more to him, as he started to understand that he wasn't truly part of this world.  There were things missing that he needed to know about, and the outside world or the world of the players, was the knowledge he sought.  Though, that kind of info was taboo, and kept mostly secret for a reason.  No one seemed to help him.  None really dared, because they wouldn't know.

    Except a couple..

    "Ah!  Good morning, @Baldur"

The azure samurai himself, one of the few people that he trusted with his secret.  He felt that it was a great trial lifted from him, when Baldur was their to guide him.  He had fallen to the greed that was his knowledge mongering, not once, but twice.  If Hirru could call what happened a couple days ago another sad attempt.  All it felt like was some twisted play.  What the hell is a play?  Thankfully, during each time, Baldur was there to lift him back up, and he was doing that now more than ever.  Hirru would stay seated while tugging at something along the baseboards.

"I've only got one so far, but we should still have some saved up from last time."

He would produce the one fish on a section of line that he cut off to hang.  It seemed to have lost its life force already, and was now a decently sized fillet, but not much more.  Putting the fish back where it was hanging, the hunter would cast out once more.  As soon as it hit the water, the line would go taut.  Pulling and reeling, another fish would pop out of the water.

    "Huh, two then."

He would cut a bit of the line and tie it through the fishes gills and around to keep it from flopping out, before reworking the hook once more.

    "Morning walk go alright?"

The hunter would try to make small talk, but he wasn't the best at it.  There was usually only a few things he would respond more to, and that was if he was telling a story, or explaining himself; which was often done through stories.  However, he didn't really need to do that with Baldur.  He already knew about the hunter's loss of memories, so there wasn't any need to tell stories, but more so to listen.  To gauge responses, and gather the information, but in a more friendly and familiar environment.  Something where, if prompted, he would loss his memories again, just to see it all.

  11. Spoiler

Opening my eyes, I found myself in inky blackness.  It felt like I was floating, but not entirely.  I was falling slowly?  Sinking?  I couldn't breath, something tried to fill my lungs, but.. it didn't hurt as they say it should.  Am I drowning?  Looking around my form, I was dressed in the simple metal breastplate that my friends had me wear.  Wait.. who were they?  Other than that,  I had some simple clothes on, which I remember putting on this morning, and the mornings since I started to remember.  There wasn't much variety to the fabric, as who was it was very adamant to dress me up as much as possible.  She seemed to really like putting me in things, thinking I was a doll.

    Maybe, I was.

Looking at my feet, I noticed something different.  Light, muddled and fading, but reflective like the surface of water.  Was I underwater?  Was that why I couldn't breathe; why I was sinking?  I tried to right myself, but it was hard to manuever around.  I tried to put my head up closer to the surface, but it felt like no matter what I tried, it didn't seem to work.  Instead, I just kept sinking down.  My body soon started to stop it's thrashing to reposition itself, although I urged it to.  I was losing control of myself, as I continued to drift down.  Am I dying?  There is no pain, but there is nothing left to do.  Nothing my arms will move for.  My legs do not kick out.  I am motionless.

My eyes too are loosing focus, as they look back up to the ever fading light, when something disturbs it.  Something moves, casting a slight shadow upon the glimmering reflections above.  The shade was coming closer and closer, growing bigger as it came.  I couldn't make out if it was something coming to save me, or end me.  All the same though, I wanted to be saved.  I reached out my hand.

    I wanted to live.

The hand was grasped by another..

Eyes flew open wide, filled with terror.  An arm outstretched as he awoke with a start.  Breathing heavily, the hunter let his arm fall back down into the bedding.  There was no need for concern.  He was not drowning, he was not dying.  That was not how this world operated, at least, not that he's seen.  Though, the feeling in his hand..  Lifting the hand back up to his face, looking at the shape of it.  Was this how his hand looked like on the other side?  Was this feeling always there?  The feeling of being touched.  He was still feeling the touch of those people; the ones he saw not even a couple days ago.  He couldn't understand why, but he's been having these weird dreams lately.  They were almost life like, as if they were happening to him right there, but they weren't.  Were they memories from before?  Was any of that real, or not?

Hirru sat up from his bedding to observe his surroundings.  He was where he laid down last night, in the basement room underneath the dojo.  Normally used for storage, Baldur and Hirru worked around rearranging the place so that he could live comfortably.  There was mostly equipment like bokkens and uniforms for the students that Baldur instructed.  There were a few that the hunter knew, but a few that he did not.  Though, in time, he was sure to get to know them more, if he was to live here more.  There was plenty of time for that later on in the day, the hunter thought as he got up from the bedding.  He wasn't one to make his bed, as there was much to do in the day.  Getting dressed in his normal attire of grey slacks and black sleeveless turtleneck, Hirru would step on the first step of the stairs, to remember that he forgot something.  A quick swipe of the hand would reveal the red cloth that was always with him.  Tying the headband around his head, he was now ready for the day.

Baldur's estate was an ever elegant display, especially from the slightly darker state of Hirru's room.  The low morning sun peaked from the tops of the edges of the 24th floor, giving the water a nearly ethereal haze.  It was why he was glad that the entrance to the basement faced towards the north.  That way, he could see sunrise and sunset, and use them to set the day, if he decided to work on appraisals in his room.  Though, that was not all there was.  It was at times like these, a man could do only one thing.

    Fish

It was becoming a constant start to his day to start with some relaxing fishing.  It gave him some time to understand his dreams and thoughts about it all.  Though, those thoughts would have to be conveyed to get better understanding.  Sitting down upon the lower walkways, the hunter would dangle his feet down, nearly touching the water below.  He was glad that Baldur's dojo was built over this expanse of ponds and streams.  It gave Hirru more to do around the area.  Especially since a certain member of their community loved to cook the fish that Hirru would catch.  It was a win / win situation, it seemed.  Though, it was more of an agreement with Baldur, as the hunter did not want to live here for no fee.  Even if he was going to join Jacob's Ladder, he did not want to intrude on the samurais hospitality.  He would earn his keep.

Pulling the rod and tackle out from his storage, the hunter would ready the rod and line for baiting, but more importantly to reinforce it for the constant amount of weapons that were in this pond.  Was this place a former battleground?  Was this a burial ground?  Was Baldur chucking swords in the lake, hoping one would skewer a fish with its Absolute Accuracy?  He couldn't say, but there were more items on this island, than fish.  Which made keeping his promise to fish for the dojo's pantry quite hard.

Satisfied with the hooking and wiring, the hunter would reel back before casting the line into the waters below.  A small cork would be the only other indicator that the line was in the water, awaiting something to bite down on the bait below.  It sat there going up and down.  Up and down.  Before long, a tug at the line would propel the hunter to pull hard upon the line, setting the hook and the fight would be on.  A life was on the line, both figuratively and literally, or it may have been if the hunter still believed what this world truly was.  A swift curve left and a pull right, the line would keep taut throughout.  Slowly, but surely Hirru would pull the line in, more and more until

    *splash*plish*

A small fish would come out of the water, hooked upon the line that Hirru had cast out.  It looked like this one would probably be someone's breakfast, though definitely not the hunter's.  He didn't like the taste of these fish, for some reason.

  12. "I wouldn't say you're intruding, as this is for everyone here at the tournament.  I believe observers are also invited, so we'll have all the more reason to hear out the stories of others.  I can talk about the scar more later."

Hirru joked, but in reality, he didn't like the crowds.  There were too many voices to listen to, and he could only keep his attention on one or two at any given time.  However, his hearing seemed to wander to every single conversation at times.  Maybe it was his way of gathering as much information as possible, but it didn't seem to work out for him.

"Personally, the many voices kind of drown out the stories that I want to hear.  Too much to focus on, you know?  I prefer the one on ones, or two 'V' ones.  Though, the dinner won't be until we are fully done with the second rounds, whenever that is..  Probably soon, with how everyone is running around."

He was beginning to cheer up a bit more as he distracted himself from the odd feelings that have been bothering him the most.  Maybe, the interactions would be better for him?  He kind of doubted it, as he nearly ruined one other party that he had joined before.  This time was different, or it would be different.  There would be no situation where the hunter could..

    get..

    wet..

Hirru remembered that the dojo was completely surrounded by water, on a floating island, above the oceanic floor.  By all situations that he could get into, he was surrounded by water once more.  He sighed heavily.  It was an inevitability now, it would just be a matter of time before he would find himself wet once more.  With that, he would shrug before tugging at the line to see if anything was on it yet.  It didn't seem like it though.

"So, I still haven't gotten a story from you, yet.  Bits and pieces from your speech, but we can all speak in different ways to give off one story to another.  I think I got more from our little 'mallow' conversation than other times."

    @Freyd

  13. Hirru began to think that this wasn't worth the effort.  He was sure that the issue was going to escalate, as it always did, and he would be berated for it once more.  He sighed as both NIGHT and Yona seemed to get after him.  He would take the thing given to him, it seemed like a long sheet of fabric that could take in water more easily.  Where was this when they were having the issue?  Still, the hunter had to accept the item, so the young woman could worry about something else, that being the slime thing that was still growing.

"Okay, I think it may be becoming more of a thing now, it seems."

Hirru would say while taking the mop over to the kitchen, but the issue was already absolved.  The slime was rather large, having absorbed a little too much.  Yona seemed to protest more about it, to which the pink haired one would remark about it before walking away.  The slime seemed to work in mysterious ways, as it expelled the water back into the sink, making itself small once more.  It would then blaze past him in a manner most befitting a hungry animal chasing prey.

"Whelp..  I think this is why I'm not invited to these things.. I just make things worse, it seems.  Heh heh!"

He would say this to no one in particular, but it was vocal enough for those close to him to hear.  A smile was on his face, but not for very long.  With that, though, he would turn his attention back to Jevi while drying himself off with the towel that was given to him.  He would have to return this some time.

    @Jevi @Yona @Koga

  14. Following Baldur and the rest of Jacob's Ladder plus one, it seemed that Baldur had some kind of plan, and as he seemed to have a grasp of the vehicles usage; Hirru differed all thought processing to him.  With that though, Hirru was not understanding the thought process of the samurai.  Why were they not heading towards a more easily defendable position?  Why were they barreling through the higher streets of Ladonia?  Why was he not saying anything about Baldur's driving skills of a craft that he said may work the same as something he played with in another game?  Why wasn't any of this ringing warning bells to the hunter?

With the wind blasting them in the face, the hunter couldn't stand or else he would be whipped out of the transport vessel, which was already seeming like it was going to hurt if he fell.  He wouldn't be able to easily search the area for threats, without keeping his eyes open.  That was turning to be a rather difficult endeavor, so he equipped the helm of the Paladin's Oath to try to get some kind of shielding from the wind.  It seemed to help, but now he could barely hear anything from the wind blasting the inner metal, which reverbed through his head.  He instantly regret the decision and took it off.

"WE WON'T BE ABLE TO DO MUCH AT ALL.  WE CAN'T EXACTLY PARRY A SCATHER BLAST, NOR A CANNONBALL."

Keeping things going from there, Baldur decided that after they had gotten below the monolith of a ship, that they were going to break through their fleet.  Bloody hell, did he ever get himself into a mess this time.  There was an order to slap on a little protection upon the lot of them, and the hunter didn't need to be told twice.  With the bokken still in his possession, the hunter knelt down so his shield wasn't being blasted away by sheer wind resistance.  Forcing the forward and upward, the bokken would draw an arc above them.  The shielding effect from before would enact, but more so, his shield armament seemed to stop moving around himself, and was now encircling the entire ship.

"THIS BARRIER ISN'T GOING TO SAVE US FROM A FULL BARRAGE OF THOSE THINGS, IF THEY'RE MEANT FOR SHIPS OF THEIR SIZE!!  TRY TO KEEP THIS THING GOING AS BEST WE CAN.  EVASIVE AS HELL, IF YOU CAN!"

    @Baldur @Shield @Crozeph @Plini @Calrex

  15. "Humility, huh."

Hirru responded as he made sure that the hook had not been bent out of shape.  The hunter didn't think he really understood it, but Freyd seemed to word it well enough.  To be reminded that there was no end all be all strategy, and that loss is it's own learning experience.  Exhaling a bit from his nose, Hirru would have to agree, as trying to force a scenario without planning made him the way he was now.  Trying to explain it all would only make things more difficult too.  He would just have to take it in stride, as he tries to figure out the next step up.

"All in all.  I feel it's not just about being a healer.  I keep coming back to the past.  Though, it's something that has always interested me and motivated me."

Giving the line a quick tug to make sure that everything was secure, he would cast the line back into the water.  The rippling would flow outward from the drop point, as did his actions.  He had been focusing too much on the ripples, and the actions that they would represent.

"I get caught up in everyone's stories.  Learning about their pasts, and recounting the ones that can no longer tell their own.  Searching for truths in dungeons, and finding the life in this world."

Even with the unthinking methods that the hunter had done, he always looked at the repercussions, and took them personally.  Freyd and Baldur have both been telling him now, to stop thinking about the things that come after.  What happens, happens.

Even more so, when the ones that we care for, are also scarred by their actions.  Their past has already been etched into their bodies and their hearts.  Though, Freyd's scars seemed to be more than just what he showed.  Even still to now, Freyd rarely ever talked about himself, but he was glad that he would reveal just the one.  He had revealed his pain to the Whisper plenty of times, and this was due payment.  Even more so, that Hirru's catch would give him something to think about.  More food for thought, it seemed.  Hirru would look back at the arm.  The void that called out to him, and the damage that was done to his friend, made the hunter feel some empathy.  His hand would want to reach out, and with a green light outlining the palm, he would provide a small amount of healing.  This was only if Freyd wanted.

"It's there if you need healing?"

Hirru joked, but the hand was there, waiting to touch the afflicted.  It was his own way of showing that he would use his skills to help those that need it.  It's the reason why he chose to do it in the first place.  He wanted to keep the front safe.  He would smile whether or not Freyd would accept or not.  It probably wouldn't do much, as the thing seemed to be constantly eating away at him.  Which made the hunter think about something.  Something that he had even kept from Baldur, but he was sure he knew from the samurai's knowledge of Hirru's secret.  This was something that Hirru had always kept on him, no matter what.

"Some scars can be healed in an instant, some scares take a little time to heal.."

He held the rod between his thighs and let his other hand remove his red headband.  Slowly, the loose band would fall from his head to his neck, and there sat something odd.

"..and some scars can't be healed at all."

Upon his forehead, running along his hairline, was an old scar.  It looked surgical as the line was clean around the hairline, which seemed to lead to his ear, if his hair was moved right.

Hirru would talk a little more on it, when something seemed to be happening in the matches.  Did something happen?  He began tying the headband back in place.  No one else needed to see that, except maybe Baldur or Shield.  The commotion was coming from two individuals that seemed to race by them, without even looking their way.  NIGHT had ran along towards the adjacent housing for guests.  Koga had followed after.

    "What is going on now?"

There was much more commotion behind them as there was slight shouting, before everything seemed to calm over.  He was tempted to go over and check it out, but as Koga finally reappeared with a downcast NIGHT in tow, he decided against it.  He wasn't part of the issue, and he didn't need to be.  Though, the fishing was all but interrupted at this point.

"Hmm.. seems like it was resolved, but it may be getting close to dinner."

Hirru stood up before pulling the line back in.  There wasn't much to do now, except head back to everyone else, and join the madness.  Although he wasn't much for the crowd, he could endure it for the food.

"Baldur said that we're having a little feast afterwards.  Did you want to join us, @Freyd?"

  16. Hirru was still sitting out back from the dojo, still fishing as everyone seemed to be starting the second round of the tournament.  He figured everyone was still watching the action, when a second line plopped down into the water a few meters from his own.  The voice was far to familiar for him to not notice.  Hirru smiled weakly as the Whisper in the Shadows would talk.  He seemed to start with a bit about why the hunter was in a gathering of players, but not really with them all.  Hirru shook his head.

"Well, I do live here, so it's kind of hard to not be around when a tournament is in the works.  Though, I did say I would help get it going.  I didn't know I was going to be apart of it though."

He would tug at the line a bit to make sure that something would catch soon.  Hirru was surprised to find himself on the list of combatants, and it seemed to help a bit to use a weapon properly for a bit.  His shoulders slumped as he thought more on the matter.  He just thought that he was really just a puppet of the system, if he could not win something like that without skills.  Though, maybe it was a bit more now.  Hirru was a healer now, which meant that he didn't need to use a blade anymore, but it was such a drastic change.  He wasn't used to not having a sword on his hip, anymore.

"I guess.. I'm just anxious about not being a proper hunter anymore.  It's been my whole life in his world, and it's just an off feeling to not use a proper blade.  I got that feeling back with that little bout with Morningstar.  It felt good, but it only reminded me that I'm not there anymore."

The Whisper would then talk about the events of the boss fight, saying it took quite a bit of courage to do what he did.  Hirru had once again tried to spare a boss, but this time he tried to convince those around him, rather than just do it.  The situation seemed to get worse and worse as time went on, and at some point; he nearly snapped.

"I still don't know why.  Both times now, I've done something that seemed to spare something that didn't need it.  Each time, I've done it without much thought for the reason.  This last one nearly went south very quickly.  Though, I do thank you and Mac.  They were exactly what I needed to hear, at that point."

Hirru pulled on the line once more to keep his mind away from the things that would weigh heavy on him.  What weighed on him instead, was a sudden hard pull on the line again.

    "This again?"

He pulled on the line to find yet another rotting chest.  A quick knock on its surface would reveal three weapons, just like the ones from before.  This would bring his count to six weapons in just the one day.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think Baldur is throwing swords that don't gain Absolute Accuracy in the pond."

    @Freyd

  17. He caught her in time, as Jevi was about to walk out when she turned to look at him.  It was almost like looking at someone that you haven't seen in several years, which in this case was more a year or a couple.  Hirru had not kept up much with how long they have all been here, as he was far too busy hunting and fighting on the front.  Although, that wasn't particularly correct.

"It's been a bit too long really.  I hope I didn't catch you at the wrong time.  Didn't want to interrupt you guys.  Hey NIGHT!  Hope everything is going alright?"

Time was rolling along for everyone the same, but everyone perceived it differently.  Some saw that everything was speeding along quite fast, while others were aggravated that it was all too slow.  Hirru could say which side he really fell on, but it didn't quite matter now.  He rubbed the back of his head, feeling the slight wet feeling of the water as the beads fell from his hand and shattering upon the floor.  Jevi commented on his hair always being wet when they met, and the hunter had to smirk at that.

"Believe me, this doesn't always happen.  I just had to.."

It was then that time seemed to move around him as the consequences of his actions were coming up.  He heard Koga swear as he ran past them into the kitchen.  What was that all about?, he wondered.  As if the sound of the water was not there at all.  Gaius gave him a thumbs up while saying that was smooth.  Hirru didn't understand the sentiment, but kind of let it go as a compliment of sorts.  It was all he could think of before he heard Koga talk about the floor being wet.  The hunter's green eyes widened as he started to realize what happened.

"Wait.. did I leave the sink on?!  Sorry, Jevi.  Could you hold on a sec, please.  We can talk more in a bit."

Hirru would try to ask Jevi to stay with them for a bit longer so they could talk more, before he looked back into the kitchen.  Koga was running back and forth trying to clean up the mess that had happened due to Hirru's quick thinking.  Water had pooled into a thin layer upon the floor, but as Hirru was about to run in and help, Koga left to get someone or something, taking the only mop.

"Koga!  Sorry, I forgot to shut off the water!  Let me.."

He would say this, just as the pink haired wonder sent out a little blue slime thing.  It would bounce around a bit before starting to suck up all the water.  Slowly but surely, it was getting all the water that it could get to, but it was also gaining in size.  It would probably be an issue to get it out of the building if it got any bigger.  Still, he could only think to try and help out as best he could.  He would walk over to Koga while he was entertaining a guest.  Hirru breathed in slowly and breathed out, calming himself from the anxiety that was building up.  This happened far too often to him.  Hirru tapped the host on the shoulder with a hand on the mop.

"Hey man, let me do this.  You got guests to entertain.  This was my fault anyway."

    @Jevi @NIGHT @Koga

  18. Hirru couldn't believe what he had just seen.  There was far too much to take in, but as people were filing into ships, the healer had to process what exactly had happened.

Right after healing the player named Vigilon, they approached another group of players.  It seemed that the boss fight had also enacted an event for players that were not from the front lines.  This meant that some of them knew what was going on outside, while there were some that had other information.  Vigilon was a partial help in this, as he talked about something where they had to jump to some point.

"You'll have to tell me more about what happened then."

Vigilon stood up fairly easily and responded back to the healer.  Hirru sighed before running back to the rest of the group.

"If you can't stay out of the fray, then stay behind someone with a shield."

The information that he could gather would be a bit better from the exchange that the hunter overheard, between the royal looking individual that seemed to be the NPC lead for the outside group, and the floor boss, Gabrandr.  For some reason, the healer did not like what he overheard: the royal one seemed to call the boss out in a rough way, especially in front of his own people.  This got under the hunter's skin.  Although Gabrandr was the floor boss, and didn't deserve this, Hirru didn't choose spare for no reason, or.. did he?  That last exchange was off, but he didn't have time to dwell on who those people were.  He would have to look into it later.  What he wanted to look into, was the stone that Gabrandr exposed through his talk to the 3rd prince to the empire.

Though, that would have to wait, as the Galteans all began to panic, as the area around them turned red hot, as Gabby espoused that the Scather was primed and firing.  All hope was lost, it seemed, but the fallen boss had one last trick in mind.  A shield erected around everyone, just like Hirru's barrier, but much more powerful, it seemed.  The bright light of the Scather would block out any more sight as Hirru covered his eyes from being blinded once more.

When the light faded, the healer could not see where Gabby went, but the prince seemed to, as he and a few other ran to where he supposedly dropped.  He was tempted to follow and make sure that the prince wasn't doing something he shouldn't.  That stone probably had the powers that Gabrandr had, so it would be a danger to use it at all with the Scather possibly charging up again.

Back to Hirru's current dilemma.  He was invited by Vig to help him take care of one of the transport ships and infiltrate one of the bigger ones.  It didn't seem to work in Hirru's mind.  These things had little to no armor, with no armaments.  It would simply be a suicide mission.  It seemed like a few had already made it as such, as two of the transport ships, lead by Koga and another had already rammed into two of the vanguard ships.  He didn't want to have to do that.  They seemed to use barriers, but that only helps so much.  If the damage cause them to go into the red, their fights with the crews of those ships would be dire situations, if they survive at all.

His thoughts went back to Gabrandr, and he was about to run after the prince, when Simmone and Shiina from Firm Anima ran that way instead.  Hirru sighed with relief, as two healers should be enough to keep him up, even if that stone was used or not.  That just meant that Hirru would have to figure something out.  Vigilon's ship was already nearly full.  It seemed like the size could only hold a full party, and it was already carrying three.  That meant only three more could follow suit.

He would look back to Freyd, Baldur, Shield, and Calrex.

"We should hurry!  What do you think we should do?  I don't know anything about these things."

He would say while deciding to follow whatever any of them decide to do.  This was now out of Hirru's expertise.

    @Freyd @Baldur @Shield @Calrex

  19. "That was.. a good one there.  Didn't think it would.. be that easy.  That thing was.. so odd."

Hirru got out through catching his breath as Jomei finished of the Fog, and it finally dissipated all the fog from the area.

The structure that made up the whole arena seemed to be a ring of stone structures, though they don't seemed carved out of stone, just made of large boulders.   In the center of it all, where the Fog of Reminiscence had concealed, there a stone table, or more of an altar.

"What was it protecting, if it was using those faces against us.  Was it our memories?"

There was weird runes that scrawled down every surface of the altar, though they were mostly unintelligible.  They didn't seem like the ones that he would normally see on the weapons and armor that he would find out in the wild.  These were a little be older, maybe?  He couldn't say without getting closer.

    "What do we have here?"

Walking closer to the altar, it would seem to have something sitting upon its surface.  The hunter looked at the leather bounded item that sat before them.

    "Is this a book?"

Picking up the book, the runes that covered the altar would light up for a couple seconds before the structural integrity of the altar would fall apart.  Hirru stepped out of the way of the crumbling rock, before bringing his attention back to the book.  There was a strange title, something he couldn't understand.

    <<What We Fight For>>

"What we fight for?  That's a little on the nose, isn't it."

As soon as he said those words, something would pop up for him.  The dungeon's rewards?  He checked the window, but it was not what should have come up.

  20. After setting the plate aside and confirming that the two would stay away from everyone else's food, Hirru turned his attention back to everyone else around.  It seemed that a fair number of them had joined in on Gaius' card game.  Looking at the little game, the hunter began to analyze the game from afar.  It was an odd one that he had seen before, but never really learned the rules.  Watching them play, he could understand slightly that the higher the players hand, the better.  However, that seem to be the case for Astreya, whom seemed to have a high number, but still lost?  Could it be there they had to get close to a certain number without going over?  An interesting game, if that were the case.  Hirru would refrain from joining, as he didn't want to reveal too much.  Not many people can relate to a man with barely a memory to accompany any type of game from the outside world.  Only a few games played within game were what he knew, though they were mostly dice games.

Looking back around the room; Jomei and Lessa were still talking; the stange older man was drinking while smiling away; Night and that girl were talking still, but there was something wrong.  She looked rather distressed ever since Gaius appeared.  It seemed like she wanted to leave.  Hirru wanted to stop her, but...

'What can I do?  I don't even remember who she is...'

It was then that Hirru remembered something.  She was there, on that day when he first met Xion, the white haired tank that was so ever present in his early life in Aincrad.  How did he forget that?  What did he do?  Xion was just sitting there and..  Hirru walked around to Koga.

"Hey, I'm gonna need your kitchen for a second.  Need to splash some water in my face."

With that, the hunter would pass around the two girls as they talked.

    "Pardon me."

Excusing himself as he passed by to enter the kitchen, he would find the sink and see about plugging the drain.  Once that was complete, he started filling the sink with enough water to fully submerge several plates worth of dishes.  He then lowered his head fairly fast, splashing quite a bit from the sink itself.  Under the water, it was only his face as the unnatural feel of the water swept around it.  It gave more to the memories as he pulled his head back out, his hair not really wet, but the water was still not particularly correct, as it dribbled off him in beads instead of a stream.  Water acted weird in Sword Art Online, no matter what you did, or where.  Even on the first floor..

A flash of something would come to him.  The three of them had met at the main fountain of the first floor, in the Town of Beginnings.  Hirru was thirsty and bothered.  He had tried to drink the water of the fountain and had dunked his head in unsuccessfully.  It drew the attention of the girl.  Xion introduced himself.  She intro..duced.. herself..

Hirru spun around while looking out to the kitchen door.

They had gone to a small yakiniku hut that was run by a weird girl who now runs an inn on the eleventh floor.  She was selling weird concoctions of stuff that tasted like beef, chicken, and pork.  They listened to Hirru about trying to meet someone.

Walking back out, he would look over towards the familiar girl, whom agreed to help him on his little mission, but... he couldn't remember how it ended.  Did they find them?  He couldn't remember.  It's like, that memory was fading away, archived in a way.  However, the hunter did learn something from the memory.  Walking over, he waved a bit with his green hair, which was held up by a red headband, still dripping beads, like the first time they met.

    "Jevi?  Is that you?"

    @NIGHT @Jevi @Koga

  21. It was finally coming down to the final moment, as Jomei had dealt a significant amount of damage to the Fog of Reminiscence.  The fog itself had now become less active in switching out the faces and more expressive in a few faces now.  Predominantly, the ones that Hirru and Jomei reacted to the most.  The faces of the girl, woman and man reappeared, showing signs of screaming, but not a sound could be heard.  The same would go for the faces of those that Jomei appeared to react to.  Hirru didn't know them, but they must have been a significant part of his life, if that was the case.  Soon, Lindow came back and the look on his face was.. fear.  Was that what he felt when he was in that cave, surrounded by spiders with no where else to go?  Why did one of their own have to die like that?  Why?  WHY?!

Hirru had had enough of these mind games.  It was only trying to get them to lower their guard, and it was starting to work on the hunter, as his mind raced.  Though, that was all the hunter needed as he ran towards Jomei.

    "Jomei!  End it now!"

With a quick tap to the back, the hunter gave up his energy to strengthen his party member.  It wasn't much, but it was something, as it was all the hunter could do without standing there and succumbing more to the fog's mental images and manipulation.  There was only so much a man could take.

  22. Hirru nodded out towards Jomei as the third shatter came upon the Fog, really reducing that mitigation by quite a bit.  There wouldn't be any need to do much else, as the boss would was being hit constantly by Jomei.  He noticed that his Rally had come off cooldown, and decided to up the duelists accuracy once more.  They didn't need any reason to fail, at this point.  Especially, if Jomei got hit again.  Although it wasn't that much in terms of his overall health, the power behind it really threw him.  Hirru didn't want him to get thrown unconscious from another blow, though the hunter wasn't sure if that was truly possible.  There was a time where he passed out, but that was from exhaustion, and not from concussive forces.

"Right!  I'll give you a little more wiggle room."

Hirru would hold his shield on high while a violet aura would envelope him, then gather around Jomei.  His accuracy couldn't be reduced any more than it already has, but it didn't matter.  As long as Jomei could attack, they would be fine.

"I hope this thing has something useful, or else I'm going on another hunt."

  23. Hearing that a few more of the matches had finished, the hunter would give a slight grin before looking back to the pond.  He was still sitting in the back of the dojo, so all he could hear was the cheers, and the sound of the water flowing along.  He still wasn't good with socializing, but the last party they all had helped him a little bit.  He wasn't as boisterous as Mack and as fun loving as Mac.  He couldn't talk to a crowd anymore, without the guidance of Baldur.  He couldn't understand the world around him anymore.

Though, this activity, although he had taken it to improve his appraisal abilities, has brought him more peace of mind than any other.  This was his space, his world where all that mattered was him and the water's surface.  Although, there may have been nothing coming up, it was fine.  Hirru could wait, for as long as he wanted to.

That being said, he did wonder if he could get a few others to join him.  It would be a nice change of pace, but there was one problem.  Who did he know that could fish, as well?

  24. "Bloody hell!"

Was all the healer could get out as a falling mass smashed down nearby.  The dust and mess would settle as Freyd had gone over to investigate.  Hirru was going to let the man handle it, as it was probably something that didn't need to be looked into by everyone.  They would all continue to follow Gabrandr through the alleyways, but the healer had to stop.  There was something odd about that falling debris.  Freyd was talking to it, and it talked back.  Hirru rushed to Freyd's side to find that the debris was actually a player.  He ran back to get a closer look.

    "How the.. what the.."

The healer didn't understand what the hell was going on, but he could understand one thing.  In game, if one didn't know the player, they could still see the one and only thing given: their health bar.  This man's was in the red.  Almost immediately, the healer clapped his hands together and rubbed them between each other.  Green light would pulse from both of them, as he did.

"Make way, this guy needs healing."

Moving past Freyd, Hirru placed both hands upon the young man and discharged a full First Aid booster upon the lad.  Dusting off his hands, he would nod a bit to the boy apparently named Vigilion, if what Freyd called out was true.

"That'll get you going, just don't go into combat anytime soon, and steer clear of high places."

    @Vigilon
