  1. The two adventurers entered the forest of Â«Horunka Forest», and Elyth equipped her battle gear: the Â«Hell Fang», «Prismatic Weave Top»,  and Â«Mist Weave Coat», all player-crafted items with several benefits. She looked over at Pandora, and noticed how the girl was wearing starter gear. Oh dear, she should've noticed that before.

    "Oh, my, this is going to be a bit hard, huh. Well then, Pandora, please attack from a distance behind me. I'll try my best to distract the Â«Little Nepent»s from attacking you," Elyth said, considering the situation. She didn't have the hate skill so she couldn't guarantee that no Â«Little Nepent» would attack Pandora, but she would try to attack the mobs to distract them. Hmm... Not a bad plan, but not exactly good either. Elyth turned back into the forest, drawing her sword. She motioned for Pandora to do the same, albeit with her spear instead of the sword.

    As the two walked a little further into the forest, Elyth noticed a certain crunching noise from up ahead. "Do you hear that?"

    A moment later, a Â«Little Nepent» with a fruit on its head waltzed into view. The mob was grinning, giant red lips parted to reveal white teeth. Elyth grabbed her sword, and activated her sword skill, stabbing at the Â«Little Nepent». But alas, the Â«Little Nepent» was too fast. Elyth missed, and was hit instead. At least the mob was focused on her and not on Pandora.

  2. Soon, Elyth reached the dimly-lit forest, perfect for a group of bats to hide. Elyth would not want to attack Vampire Bats, but the paper said that she wouldn't be able to finish the story without retrieving the Vampire Bat Queen's «Drop of Darkness». And here she was. Thank goodness Elyth had the skill «Night Vision», or she would've suffered a penalty in battle, and she didn't need something like that at the moment.

    Elyth walked into the forest, sword and equipment at the ready. The trees, though with lightly-skinned bark, grew thick and dark leaves, obscuring the early morning light from hitting the path. Were it not for «Night Vision», Elyth would have been completely blind. She walked further into the forest, and suddenly a bat flew into her path! Violently and unexpectedly, it tried to claw at Elyth. She moved to the side well ahead of the bat's claws, and thrust her sword into the bat's small body before drawing it out quickly.

  3. A faint divide separated the vast valley from the rest of Floor 2, and Elyth skipped over that small crack in the ground over to the other side. It wasn't a very particular place, to be honest, and Elyth wouldn't have known about it had she not been trying to complete her map of Floor 2. It was sometime near the end of February, and Elyth had made it clear In her mind that she was going to make the most of her days in Sword Art Online from now on. Now that death felt more and more close by the day, wasting time was a death wish.

    "Now then, what interesting things awaited me here?" Elyth wondered aloud, musing with her lips curled up in excitement. She retrieved the map from Basalt Village of this place, and flipped over to the back.

    "Let's see... I'll go after the Vampire Bat Queen first," she decided, and put all her stuff away. Unsheathing her sword, Elyth began to move through the valley's numerous and labyrinthine bushes and clumps of flowers, eager to find her way to the very close-by forest and slay the Vampire Bat Queen.

  4. Elyth waited for the flush to wash away, and then admired the passing scenery and the brilliant graphics of Sword Art Online. She smiled to herself, admiring the brilliant colors of the mountain skyline, filled with the blue of the sky and the various shades of mountain gray and glistening snow. She wanted to enjoy living surrounded in such beauty. Speaking of which, Sword Art Online had residences, didn't it? I wonder what it would be like to live on a mountainous floor... On top of the mountain, of course. I want to design a work of art to live in myself until we clear this game and return... home.

    "Excuse me, could you take us there or somewhere close if it would be ok with you?" Shanok asked the NPC driver, pointing at a distant mountain. Elyth looked over in somewhat shock at being shaken suddenly from her thoughts. She looked over at the mountain Shanok had pointed to. It was a flat-topped mountain covered in lush greenery and what seemed like a grassy plaza bordered and filled with many tall trees. I hope we're going there to sleep. Ah, I should request a Performer to record some music for me.

    Elyth dozed off, face supported by her right hand as she slept in the cool breeze. She realized that she would miss much of the scenery on the way to the mountain, but let herself relax anyway. When the cart jolted to a rough stop, Elyth nearly fell off the cart, but saved herself just in time, grabbing onto the sides of the cart, suddenly awake. "What happened?She looked around. They were in a wide valley at the base of the mountain from earlier. Various colorful trees guarded a winding path up the mountain, and red torii gates decorated with strings of charms and thick braided rope were placed ever so often up the path. Elyth realized that this was the same for almost all the mountains near the vicinity of the valley, and breathed in deeply. This was going to be fabulous. She noticed the NPC driver handing Shanok a sack. "We had too much anyway, so you can take it," the NPC driver said, and Shanok thanked him, getting off the cart.

    "Well then, shall we go?" Shanok smiled to Elyth.

    "Of course!

    Elyth bounced off the cart and onto the ground. The driver rode away, waving a goodbye as he went. Elyth enthusiastically waved back., and then put a hand to her waist. The other pointed to the top of the colorful mountain, promising adventure and exercise. Because, ya know, stairs.

    "Let's go!" she shouted, and began sprinting up the stairs, two steps at a time. "Ah, and Shanny, what's in the bag?"

  5. "A Quest? What is it?" Pandora asked, and before Elyth could reply, stood up and walked over to the door, where she accepted the quest from the lady NPC, and then proceeded to run out the door after glancing momentarily at Elyth. Oh, okay, guess I'll explain as we run, Elyth thought, and walked out after Pandora. The two stood on the dirt path for a moment before Elyth decided to take the lead.

    "Pandora, is it? I'll guide you to the forest. Please, follow me, and accept this party invite," Elyth said, and summoned her HUD, sending Pandora a party invite. She continued speaking, all the while walking towards where she remembered the location of the Â«Little Nepent» to be. "Alright, well, this quest is called Â«Secret Medicine of the Forest», and we're basically retrieving an item called the Â«Little Nepent’s Ovule» from the mob Â«Little Nepent», which we're going to fight. Each one of them is level 3, and have 6 HP each. Oh, and there are three versions of the Â«Little Nepent»- normal ones, ones with flowers on their heads, and ones with fruits on their heads. We'll need to fight the normals to lure out the flower ones, and avoid the fruit ones because they attract other nepents. Got it?"

    Elyth spun around to face Pandora again, and smiled. "Don't worry, okay? We'll beat them and rescue Agatha!" Taking Pandora's hand, she continued. "Let's go!"

  6. [29 HP]

    Elyth had been visiting Agatha, the female NPC child who was the recipient of the Â«Little Nepent’s Ovule» from the Â«Secret Medicine of the Forest» quest. That quest had been her first, and she was quite pleased to see such a familiar face as Agatha's after a long time. Agatha herself apparently didn't forget Elyth's face either, and thanked Elyth fully. Elyth had then proceeded to hug Agatha really tightly, before the NPC girl began to cough again.

    "Agatha! What's wrong?" Elyth asked, alarmed. She turned to face the mother NPC, who had just entered the room with a bowl of water.

    "Oh, no, Agatha's sickness must be coming back again," the lady said, rushing to her daughter's side, feeling the gentle flush that had quickly overtaken Agatha's cheeks and forehead. The lady turned to Elyth, a look of desperation on her face, and pleaded. "Please, adventurer, go find the Â«Little Nepent’s Ovule» again! A sword shall be your reward."

    By that time, Elyth had already marched out into the other room. There was another girl there, and... not an NPC? Then this girl must have had triggered the quest! And she looked significantly weaker than Elyth, so there was no way Elyth was letting her- Pandora -go out there alone. "You! You're here for the quest, right? Hurry and go accept it in the other room! I'll go with you to the forest!"

  10. Second day of crafting! Elyth got straight to work after striding into the shop.

    id10610-- CD[11 + 1]
    PERFECT!

    Elyth took a piece of silver ore, and heated it up in the furnace. She poured the melted silver into a pre-made mold of a few wires, and waited for it to cool before punching the mold to release the whisk-shaped wires. The mold broke, and Elyth poured the leftover metal into a thin surfaced mold. She wrapped the thin surface around the handle of the whisk, and a message screen popped out, announcing the creation of a PERFECT object.

    "Heck yes!" Elyth shouted, and check the description.

    Elyth turned back to her silver, and melted another ore. She melted the stone in the furnace, and waited a few moments for it to somewhat solidify. Then, she heated it again, stirring it a bit, and then poured it into a thin mold. She waited for the shape to cool, before inscribing the material with some calligraphy. She had found it in the book from Nim, and wasn't really sure what it did, except that certain combinations of the runes would lead to upgrades or blessings on a crafted item. Laying her needle aside, she wiped her brow and left the ring out by the window, not noticing her actions until a message screen popped up.

    "Hmm, my last craft as an Artisan..." Elyth muttered to herself, and began to design the best thing she could make, to end her career as an Artisan. "Let's make it like... moonlight. So strong that it can shatter moonlight. Or rather, shattering moonlight."

    Elyth began to gather the remaining materials- some silver, and sand. Good. She would use the sand to craft glass mirrors and the silver to enhance the sculpture's color and light, light was the ultimate presentation. The sculpture would have its significance in its ability to reflect light. Elyth began to sculpt the sand into several shards of nearly opaque mirrors, and then melded them together. She then sculpted the silver around the glass frame, as a pestle. The actual process wasn't very difficult, but the architecture of the thing was simply sublime. Elyth took a look at the sculpture and then at the room as a whole, which was being illuminated by the sunlight the glass mirrors reflected. A message screen appeared.

  13. Now she would get down to using up her mats. She had the ability to make 5 crafts a day, and she had 9 remaining materials for the Artisan profession. It would take her two days to finish things up here. It was the twenty-first of February. Yup, she'd have the chance to make the switch to the Cook profession.

    id10606-- CD[4 + 1]

    GOOD!

    Elyth took a piece of cypress wood and carved it in the shape of a sphere, and carved out a hole in the bottom. She took the knife and carved out a small circular cavern inside the wood, and began the inscribing of several intricate loops around the outer sides of the sphere. When she finished, she slid the Special Sphere inside the hole, and used a leftover piece of gold ore to seal up the bottom.

    The sphere began to glow, and a button materialized from the top, and the intricate designs began growing, expanding from the sphere's sides to even the bottom, and all in all it looked very picturesque.

    "Identify!" Elyth shouted after the message popped up, announcing a good item.

    Elyth took another silver ore and put it in the furnace. She was going to try crafting a ring now, and unless it was a perfect object, she wouldn't try to keep it. She poured the melted silver into a small circular mold, and then took it out, quickly taking a needle and inscribing some swirls onto it. As soon as the ring cooled in the early morning breeze, Elyth put it down, sighing in the relief that she finished carving before the metal had cooled entirely. Just as a precaution, she dipped the ring in a basin of cool water, and pulled out as the message screen popped out, announcing an common item. Whoops.

    GOOD!

    Elyth took a piece of wood and her crafting knife. She was planning to switch to cook, right? Then she should make some cooking supplies. Elyth began to carve out a cutting board from the wood, making the two surfaces as straight as possible. As for the sides, Elyth sanded them. Two minutes after Elyth had decided that the item was complete, and after it had been soaked in water for a few seconds, and after that, when it had been put out to dry in the sun, a message popped up.

    "Identify!" Elyth shouted, not even looking at the first message screen.

    Elyth decided to make an object for Alchemy. Sure, she wasn't planning on being an Alchemist, but she had some friends who were planning to or were Alchemists. This could help.

    "Let's see, Alchemists use ladles, I believe," she muttered, and took a piece of silver ore, and melted it in the furnace. After that, she poured the molten liquid into a spherical mold, and waited for it to somewhat dry before taking a needle and craving into the metal to make a pattern of swirls and circles. After that, she waited for it to dry by reading on of the books Nim had lent her, and then broke the mold by trying to smash it. Thank goodness the ladle itself didn't break, she thought, and dipped it in water to test its effectiveness.

    Yup, it worked like a charm, and a message screen popped up. "Identify!"

  14. Elyth walked into her store after a long time away. She was here to use up her remaining materials, donate those items of uncommon rarity, and then switch professions to something else, as shown on the paper she had found at the Crafting Guild.

    EXTRA: Until 2/27/15, you have the option to SWITCH your profession by retaking the Earning a Living quest. However, if you switch professions, you lose all progress in your former profession and tools you may have used (such as a crafting needle if you were a tailor) are rendered useless to you.

    All items formerly for sale in your shop related to said profession (such as smith materials if you're becoming a performer) must be sold before the switch is made (either in your old shop or to a merchant). If you had the items that you crafted as part of your personal inventory, you may keep them.

    Elyth planned to become a cook. The things she could learn crossed over into real life skills, she reasoned.

    "Well, down to work!"

    Elyth took a stick of wood she had thrown into the bad items bin, and attempted to carve off the parts she had modified with her sculpting knife. First, those knobs on the left side, and then that other part...

    [id10578]-- LD9

    SALVAGE FAIL!

    Too bad, Elyth thought as the wood broke, and a message popped up up informing her of the failure. She reached for a piece of ore and went to melt it in a tray in the furnace.

    [id10579]-- LD9

    SALVAGE FAIL!

    Agh, the ore melted and slipped into the fire! A message popped up again, and Elyth swiped it away impatiently. She went to get the last salvageable material, a necklace she had haphazardly made with interlocking chains. She began to heat each chain, and split each chain apart before melting them down to make into a cube of metal.

    [id10580]-- LD7

    SALVAGE FAIL!

    Well, she should have expected this, she realized, as the message popped up again and a piece of metal spilled into the fire, and the rest followed, drowning out the flames. Elyth sighed. She'd have to get all that muck out later-- oh, now the metal flew away in a wind of dissipating sparks.

    +0 mats (haha)

  15. Elyth listened to what Shanok told her with idle fascination. So he had also been in high school when he started this game. And he didn't seem to have much to say about himself, much like Elyth herself.

    "What about you? Tell me about yourself too," Shanok said, and Elyth sunk deeper into the walls of the carriage. Relaxing, she sighed. Truthfully, she didn't have much to say either.

    "Hmm, well, my name is Elyth, and I was also in high school before-" here she spread her arms dramatically "-all this. I have an older sister and an older brother. I'm pretty sure they're both worrying over me now, and they're both really cool. Uhm, really awesome but both of them aren't suitable for other people... My parents aren't usually home, and no one's told me where they actually work, but then one day they brought home three NerveGears, and I tried one before it could get confiscated, so here I am! Oh, and I had a stick of pocky in my mouth before putting on the NerveGear. Too bad I can't get any in-game," Elyth said, things about her entrance to Sword Art Online popping up one after another. That was quite a mouthful of words she had just spewed out, she realized, and covered her mouth with her hand, dimly glowing red from embarrassment.

  16. "The Heike monogatari was a story of war, the war between the Heike or Taira and the Minamoto or Genji clans in a different world called Japan," the boy continued, eyes now its normal size. "My translation's iffy, but it'll do for you."

    What was that supposed to mean? Elyth wondered.

    The boy didn't wait for Elyth to say anything, and began:

    The knell of the bells at the Gion temple
    Echoes the impermanence of all things.
    The colour of the flowers on its double-trunked tree
    Reveals the truth that to flourish is to fall.
    He who is proud is not so for long,
    Like a passing dream on a night in spring.
    He who is brave is finally destroyed,
    To be no more than dust before the wind.

    "So, how's that?"

    "That's... pretty amazing, to be honest," Elyth admitted, and felt a little excited, though she didn't know why. "So, um, my condition. Are you the one who needed help from Deacon Sherrard?"

    "Oh, yeah. I need better pants," the boy said, looking away a little in embarrassment. "My dad makes armor. He’s terrible at tailoring, though. That’s why I’m wearing these year old pants."

  17. "Hail, adventurer. Would you care to listen to a poem?" the boy asked, smirking a bit in delight. He was dressed in a brown vest, which covered his white tunic. He was, for some reason, covering his brown tattered pants.

    Elyth smiled. She liked poetry, and hadn't had a chance to appreciate fine literature so far. "Sure, but I have a condition," she bargained.

    The boy tilted his head, and nodded, breathing deeply to begin his soliloquy.

    Gion shouja no kane no koe
    shogyou mujou no hibiki ari.
    Shara souju no hana no iro
    jousha hissui no kotowari o arawasu.
    Ogoreru hito mo hisashikarazu,
    Tada haru no yo no yume no gotoshi.
    Takeki mono mo tsui ni horobinu.
    Hitoe ni kaze no mae no chiri ni onaji.

    "That," he said, eyes wide from the effort, "was the opening of the Heike monogatari."

    Elyth was confused. "What does it mean? I don't know all that much Japanese. Could you translate it into English for me?"

    The boy looked to Elyth sarcastically, almost as if he was thinking, really? You entered a Japanese world, and you still don't know most of what I just said.

    It wasn't as if she could refute that.

    Elyth goes up to Deacon Sherrard.

    "Deacon, I’ve cleared the Church," Elyth said, gesturing to the church behind her. It was now empty of rats.

    "Thank you. I have another request of you," the Deacon replied, bowing his head in deference. He points towards the northwest. "There is a young man in yonder house, who may be in need of assistance. I am needed here, so could I bother you to go in my stead? Take these pants with you.

    "Certainly," Elyth noted, and headed away after taking the pants from the Deacon. Deacon Sherrard nodded, and Elyth follows the direction that the Deacon pointed to. She sees a river, and guards near the entrance to a bridge to the north. Walking along the river, she happens upon two houses, and then a boy, who she stops to speak to.

  20. Hello Elyth.

    edited what she wrote gomen very much there's just a little bit of spacing that I added and then that heart thing at the bottom she's actually pretty cynical

  21. Having finished what she set out to do, Elyth left the Church and went back to the Deacon.

    "Deacon, I've finished what you asked me to do," Elyth said.

    "Okay, here are some pants or something," the Deacon replied (OOC: I'm tiredddd)

    "Yay."

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Finished!
    +8 mats
    +[400+(4*70)] = 680 col
  22. Elyth walked over to the church altar. It was a small structure, and fit snugly into the equally small church.
    V01p466002.jpg
    Elyth stooped down and took the two potions that she had seen before, and slipped them into her bag. There they would stay until she could figure out what to do with them, and what they were.
    Then, she opened up her book and turned to the page on the Church. Where was it? Where was the passage on a blessing granted through prayer?
    Ah, there. And an abridged version, too.
    "O god, hear this blessed prayer.
    May our days be fruitful.
    Send us the golden days.
    May darkness be vanquished."
    ...
    That didn't sound like much of a prayer. Elyth felt embarrassed just saying it. Nonetheless, she completed the ritual, leaving one of her fruits on the counter for the god to take.
    -1 fruit
  23. Elyth walked into the Lion's Den. The first thing she noticed was the giant lion head with a crown atop its head, and then the jingling of the bells as she had moved the door. She really didn't have much of an idea of where she was, having gotten lost again on the 4th floor. But she had found a store! And apparently a Tailor shop, too. That was good, as Elyth needed to buy some stuff anyway.
    Elyth made her way to the counter. There, she found an order form.
    "Hmm. Might as well ask for a Perfect Item," she whistled, and scribbled in her order.
    Actually, she had enough col to spare for another item. And she took out the 2400 col from her inventory really quickly to make sure she wasn't fumbling for it later.
    "Okay, I guess I'll wait here for awhile," Elyth said, pushing the two order forms onto the counter and sitting down on the floor to wait.
    "Mmh," Elyth enunciated, squinting at the slight pain, and charged up her sword without gauging its position. She thrust it forward, and it flew into the rat's mouth, piercing its throat.
    "Ugh, that looks disgusting," Elyth thought before slicing open the rat's mouth.
    The rat, writhing in pain, barely touched her with its next attack on her legs.
    Elyth charged her sword again and swung in a clockwise motion, slicing at the rat's head. This time, the rat's head came off and stayed off, before dissipating into sparkles. Elyth looked to the floor beneath it.
    "What's this, 70 col and 2 mats, huh," she thought, and picked them up.
