  1. She had to admit, she didn't expect to miss the goblin, "Yeah, I'm fine. Barely knocked off anything." It wasn't too terrible, but it was a solid chunk off of what her tiny health bar could store in total. Unfortunately, she wasn't alone in the matter as Jazz would also have the displeasure of missing her swing and getting attacked too, though at a much less noticeable percent. It would come down to Dominion having to dash between them and smacking the goblin with his palm, just before catching it and holding it up for Alice to finish off. She hadn't expected him to not have a weapon yet, but it wasn't something that she hadn't heard of before. Suggesting that she finish off the monster, she would hold up her sword, lightly extending it into the creature's body so that it would have no chance of mistakenly coming into contact with Dominion himself, "He put up a good fight compared to the last two, that's for sure." The goblin would de-pixelate out of the game, leaving Dominion empty handed, "We're nearly there, but be prepared. This feels like it's been too easy."

  2. She didn't expect either of them to be so prepared for this venture, leaving Alice behind in terms of gear, but at least their composition did have a variety of strengths to make up for each other's weaknesses. When Jazz had made her way down the ladder, she would step away to allow Dominion to follow suit and spot one of the goblins that Alice had slain. Using her rapier, she was able to clean up just as easily as Alice was, "That's good, if all the monsters in this cave are this easy, then this dungeon won't take long at all." The map showed a simple path through the caves, signifying when to take a left or right at forks in the road. Had they not had the map, this small maze certainly would have been a lot more difficult to navigate, "Well, says that we should go north for a couple dozen meters and take a left at the first Y split." Taking the lead once again, she would leave them through a couple of caves as dictated by the map, which allowed them to avoid plenty of enemies that they would have encountered otherwise. However, the path wasn't completely unobstructed as they would eventually come across another one of the miniature goblins. She would strike first at the monster, but it was agile enough to avoid her sword and hit her in the process, "Darn, he's a fast one."

  3. It was nothing short of a sweet relief when Mack interrupted the childish feud that was going on between players over whatever it was, though it appeared as if Alice had not understood the gravity of the situation that caused the drama in the first place. This wasn't about who did who, it was about who killed who. She would remain blissfully unaware of the circumstances until some point in the future, focusing on the truly important matters at hand right now. As the boss made its appearance before them, it was incredible just how in sync players and groups were together compared to the quarrel from moments ago. While many opted to dish out some damage, a few key players used this opportunity to obtain the focus of the beast - her group leader, Calrex, included. Realizing that now was her chance, she would approach and nearly drop to one of her knees before using a sword art to lunge across the short distance. It had connected and she had actually contributed, however minutely, to her first ever boss raid leaving her a little ecstatic. However, she quickly backed away, allowing those with much larger health pools and stronger gear sets to take the brunt of its retaliation.

  4. While it was slightly disappointing to know that nobody in the group had any experience with dungeons, it did have the flip side of providing a very new and unique journey for the trio. Once Jazz made the suggestion that they make way for the dungeon and Dominion supported the idea, Alice would begin leading the way towards the map's destination. It wasn't too far off from the town and not in a typical spot that Alice would imagine a dungeon to be, which made her hope that the map wasn't a fraud as they walked. Having had similar thoughts to Dominion, however, Alice did want to ensure they were at least prepared more than herself, "Jazz, I know that you can administer first aid, but do either of you have equipment to make matters a little easier down here?" While she had a low quality weapon, she would at least be able to deal some decent damage among the group if she used it in conjunction with her sword arts. Shortly after answers were exchanged, they'd arrive at the destination - a small bush of hundreds in full bloom in the middle of the plains, "Well, this is it... I believe." She reached both hands into the bushes, separating the foliage to reveal a hole with a ladder, "I can see why they're so rare, I never would have thought to look in a place like this." Climbing down first, they would find that the cavern was rather dim, though it would be far worse if the torches on the walls weren't present. A shadow seemed to flicker in the corner of her eye as the others were coming down, catching her attention and causing her to draw her sword before striking at the source, "Watch your step guys, there's some tiny... gremlins or something down here."

  5. While her attempts yesterday were on two different ends on the spectrum of success, the simple, yet perfect arm band that she made would truly come in handy. With an enhancement to improve her experience in crafting from here on out, she knew that she would make progress more quickly so long as she didn't make too many mistakes along the way. After ensuring that no players had showed up to purchase anything since her stock was bare, she would make her way back into the office to begin working on her next batch of materials. Opening up her kit and placing it upon the table, she'd get things going in hopes that she could begin working on actual merchandise. Until she had unlocked the ability, there was nothing she planned to craft for herself in the near future, "Here goes nothing..."

  6. Jazz caught Alice by surprise, making her feel as if her heart had skipped a beat when that unsuspecting hand had bopped her in the shoulder, "Oh my... Oh, it's you, Jazz. You shouldn't surprise people like that..." She had to take a moment to gather her train of thought, which was just enough time for Jazz to ask a question that seemed rather rhetorical, "Of course, I'm not going to invite you over for tea and tell you to bug off when you get to my door. Why would this be any different?" The girl didn't seem to worried about the matter though as she quickly introduced herself to the monk and vice versa, nodding her head in silence to confirm Dominion's suspicions while allowing for Jazz to audibly answer. Though the next question, being directed at the both of them, was one that Alice certainly wanted to make clear, "No, I've never been in a dungeon. What about you, Jazz?" She'd give the girl a brief moment to answer before continuing, "However, I did happen to come across a rather interesting map that leads us directly to the entrance of a dungeon. I've heard that they're quite rare and dungeons themselves are tremendously difficult to find without. It was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up, which is why I was looking for an additional member to tag along." Certainly, he had to have some experience, "You've been in a dungeon or two yourself, right?"

  7. Having received an affirmative response from Jazz, she knew that she wouldn't have to worry about sitting around all day to form a party for this dungeon. Having tapped on the reply button, she'd send a short message, "Thanks, see you soon." Before she would arrived, however, the event that she had been waiting so long for had finally occurred. A player had took notice of the post that she had made before turning to her, "Oh, Dominion the monk, is it?" She paused for a moment, having some trouble recalling where she had heard such a unique title from before prior to remembering, "Oh, the lad that helped in the fight against Nerius. Ah, yes, good to see you again." They had introduced themselves to each other once before, but by the way he introduced himself again, he had forgotten just as she did, "Yes, that would be mine. It's Alice, by the way." She gave a quick look around to see if the other was nearby before continuing, "You're more than welcome to join, I already know you're capable. However, I do have another friend that's showing up to give us some support since we'll be encountering some monsters in the dungeon." Player versus player combat was a terrible thing that was present in this game and she wanted to make sure he was aware that another player would be tagging along, "Is that alright with you?"

  9. Having sat adjacent from the player request board in the center of town, Alice watched as a few players read the board and even fewer took notice of the request that she had put up. She knew a few players in this game, though her contacts were incredibly limited so players were a bit hesitant to join up with someone that hadn't made a name for themselves or met before. She had to admit, it was getting rather frustrating waiting on another player to take on the challenge, but she knew that this wasn't just something that she should rush in on. She had contemplated calling up Beatbox or Jazz, but she felt the former would completely take control of the dungeon, leaving Alice no room for participation. Jazz, on the other hand, did sound like a promising idea. After all, she was capable of First Aid and had plenty of health to stay alive, though she couldn't deal as much damage as Alice could. Hesitantly, she would send a message to the newfound friend to see if she was even interested in joining, "Hello, I'm going to explore a dungeon today and if you're interested, you're invited to join in. Meet me in the F01 square if so."

  10. Taking a seat in her office, she let out a sigh of relief, knowing that she could finally get to work now that the preparations had been completed. It had been quite the workload, setting up everything to look nice and tidy, though she did have to skimp out on a few things. The wall art were preset furnishings without much artistic style, which was something she wanted to buy from some player performers when she could. It would also be nice to buy some more exquisite delicacies for any special occasions in which a friend or important parties visited, plus some fine wine or other non-alcoholic drinks from an alchemist. However, the most important thing to focus on right now was creating a stock of supplies to sell to the public as there was no reason to hosting this shop otherwise. With that in mind, she would pull out her tools and begin working on the materials in front of her, hoping that her experience here didn't go as rough as the attempt during her quest.

    "We all have somewhere special to call our wonderland."

    Wonderland is more than just a business, it's a home, in both the metaphorical and literal sense. After having discovered the run down shack that was given to her as a reward for completing a quest, she quickly made the decision to move the shop to the first floor of her house. Not only did it allow her more options in the future, but also permitted players of all color (green or orange) to enter without fear of being attacked. Being one of the few players that found a deed to a housing plot on the first floor, virtually every player has access to this wonderful change of pace. The gates to the house are nearly always open and above the entrance rests the title of the land (as seen above) with its signature 'Mad Hatter' logo, though players will need to use the door knockers to open the doors via a command system. As they open on their own, it signals a three pattern tone, alerting the owner of any newcomers.

    Upon entering, players will find themselves on a velvet red carpet in a remodeled, grand living room. With a heightened roof and ornate chandelier, it truly makes the room feel far larger than it actually is. The flames of the marble fireplace dance across the display cases housing the merchandise for sale, drawing attention away from the paintings resting upon the walls. Just in front of the fireplace is a pair of red leather couches with a small coffee table in between, just large enough to place a few snacks and drinks for visiting company. Any business done in person is generally exchanged in this room, though it is not uncommon to place an order via the messaging system. In the adjacent room is where the true magic happens, housing all of Alice's tools of the trade and storage to place materials or back stock. Generally, customers are unable to enter this room unless given access by Alice, though this is only necessary for private discussion or occasional tours. On the opposite side of the main room is the restroom, a feature deemed completely unnecessary by Alice in the game, but is granted access to players without request. The final door leads to the kitchen, which is also blocked off from being accessed by unauthorized players.

  12. Jazz seemed to know the direction of where they needed to go so she would allow her the honor of leading the party of two while they had some small talk. While she absolutely hated having to admit to being one of the low level crowd, at least she knew that her company was part of the crowd as well, "You've got me - I'm about as low level as they come." In the past, she had informed one player known as Beatbox about some of her more ambitious goals, but he seemed to show that he was more open than the current discussion at hand, "As for goals though, I've really only got two in mind. Obviously, I want to get stronger to fight on the frontlines. When I get to that status though, I want to be able to contribute to players like you and me that are looking to get our foot in the door." Without paying attention, they would arrive at the border of the forest and springs. "I'm assuming that you have or still are having some degree of difficulty doing most 'dangerous' activities on your own?" It was true for Alice, though this quest was a slight exception. While waiting for her answer, she'd keep her eye open for some mushrooms.

  13. It was certainly pleasant to know that she had officially made a friend in the game as well as gotten the promise of business in the future, but this was only the first step up the staircase of Aincrad. There was so much to this game that she simply couldn't fathom, from the boss raids to the tougher quests, the drama, the player killing... So much that she hadn't seen and certain things that she should never see, but it was all bound to happen. Bowing her head in return, she wouldn't suppress the smile on her face as she watched Beatbox head off to his next grand adventure exploring. The picture she had painted in her mind of him hadn't been too terribly off from when they first met, though it was nice that it had been revised with clarity. Closing the NPC's door behind her, she would make her way across town as she looked for the site of her new business, but she would quickly be met with a new struggle... What to name it?

  14. Smiling at his unbaised judgement of himself, she would step clear away from the range of his attack so that he could handle the ugly little critters in peace. Once again, he took out four enemies with little effort, butchering them in a single attack before returning to Alice. Taking the last of the materials needed to continue with the next step of the quest, she would place them in her inventory for the journey back, "Sounds like a good plan and don't thank me for anything, you're the one that gets the credit where credit is due. Had it not been for you, I likely would not have finished this quest anytime soon. Thank you." She would make her way back into town, following alongside Beatbox, until they arrived at the shop, "Ah, welcome! Welcome back!" The NPC would wave for Alice to come over to his crafting bench, patting on the seat for her to take her place, "Now, crafting is quite an easy trade, it all comes down to a bit of handiwork and luck." He would show Alice how to position the tools and weave between the edges, "It's just like so, yes... Ah, but not too hasty... There we go, now you've got it."

    A few moments would pass and Alice would finally have an end product to show for her work (and therefore the dirty work Beatbox did), "That was pretty eas-" With the movement she had made, the sewing of the fabric had completely fallen apart, ruining her craft, but not the materials themselves. "Oops..." The NPC laughed, knowing that it was a pretty common error for beginners, "No worries, no worries. You've only just begun and it was a good first attempt. I can still use the materials so it was not inherently an unsuccessful attempt!" She would hand back everything to the man, finding herself clutching her thumb in the same hand out of natural embarrassment, but it definitely could have been worse. She turned to Beatbox while the NPC went to fetch something out of a cabinet, "Well, were you so unlucky on your first attempt?" After the last word escaped, she picked back up, "On second thought, if it's a no, just spare me the disappointment." She smiled, turning back to the NPC as he handed her a set of keys and a box of tools, "Good luck, dearie. You'll need it." Grimacing at the comment before opening the door for the other player, "Thanks again for all the help, Beatbox. Feel free to drop by the shop whenever I open it. Actually-" Alice would up the menu with delight, before adding his player name, "I'll send you a message when I get the preparations done, you can be my first customer."

  15. While his advice was to avoid rushing towards the frontlines, it likely wasn't something she was going to take too seriously. She had excelled in an overwhelming amount of stressful activities in the real world and didn't expect this to be much different, but she would take it to heart to keep cautious while pushing towards becoming a frontliner. What did take her by surprise though was the matter of how he was a loner, even at his status in level and guild. Certainly, being an explorer as he mentioned would be a contributing factor, but he sounded like a very lonely soul by the sounds of things. She didn't know what she could say to make it better without sounding too personal, "I know that I have yet to experience how brutal this game can be, but losing a friend, let alone somebody closer than that, can make the world pause. There's been a few times where I lost myself in the tragedies of another, losing my grip on school, my social group, and sometimes my passions." While they were obstacles that she had overcome in her own time, the holes in her heart were still there, albeit roughly patched up, "However, I've found ways to celebrate their life, rather than mourning for their deaths. I'm sure you are and will continue to be honoring them by knocking out these floors to complete the game, the one goal nearly everyone here is striving for... and dying for." As they made it to the entrance to the cave, she would halt at the entrance, giving him time to speak his mind before giving Alice the pleasure of sitting this one out once again.

    @Beatbox

  16. While it may have been something of importance for him to hide, the difference between level 25 and level 75 meant very little to her at the present. Being the bottom of the barrel as a level 1, anything that was currently out of sight just seemed like overkill to think about at this point. While Beatbox likely didn't know about Alice's lack of contacts at this point, there wasn't anybody that she'd sell the information out to, but it was a perfectly reasonable thing for any player at any level to be cautious with. Keeping a steady pace alongside the man as they made their way to the next key material, Alice took her turn to think about the things she had in mind, "Well, there's a few things I wouldn't mind striving for here. First things first, I do believe it would be quite nice to create a movement to teach players like myself the basics of the game, make them prepared, and push them to become players like yourself. Two, I want to be on the frontlines as well, knocking out these bosses so that we can eventually make it out of here. Then, of course, I want to build a social circle here." She laughed at the thought of how she went from one of the popular kids irl to a no name player that didn't know anyone, "It's certainly very unusual being a loner in such a big world and it's not something that I'm a fan of." Perhaps it was a bit extreme how much she wanted, but she felt it wasn't too much to ask for, "I know that first bit might be a tad odd, but how did you feel when you first started out with nothing? I'd like for players to be able to experience this, what we're doing, to make things safer and fun. You know what I mean?"

    @Beatbox

  17. A giant spider was the last kind of arachnid that she cared to witness on her own, but if that's what it came down to, at least she knew Beatbox would be able to handle it on his own. In fact, in just a few moments, he was going to be able to do a lot more on his own than Alice had even considered. At least, in the meantime, she could contribute in some regard, "Ah, a cook." She had considered it on nearly equal terms with becoming a tailor, but his last bit did catch her off guard, "To be honest, as long as you're doing what you enjoy, then it's a great thing to strive for." Alice wasn't sure whether a profession would be enjoyable or not, but she had to keep at it until she could afford to maintain life in Aincrad, similar to what she supposed Beatbox did. When he excused himself, Alice watched as he completely annihilated a group of cows and sheep, knocking out two of the three requirements in no less than a single attack. While she had heard about the vast range between levels, it was quite surprising to see it in practice, "Well, I guess being an explorer is a good calling after all. I know you mentioned you were a big shot, but just how far up the ranks are you?" A genuine question, but not one that might be quite easy to answer.

    @Beatbox

  18. While she wasn't surprised that another player was here to take on the quest or purchase something from the shop, she wasn't expecting the next thing to happen. The NPC responsible for the quest stood from his chair and addressed the both of them, "Ah, welcome! Welcome! I see that both of you are beginners, yes." He didn't hesitate, leading Alice to believe that there was nothing that a player could purchase here, "You!" He pointed at Alice first, then to the other, "And you! Yes, both of you!" He waved them closer as he made his way over, "I need the assistance of both of you, at once, yes. This is very important. I need five brown mushrooms from the edge of the forest near the springs and I need them without a second to spare so make it fast. Now, both of you, go!" Alice was slightly shocked with how bluntly the NPC was commanding them to do his bidding, but it was a quest that she had to knock out so she opened the door and held it open for the other player, "Well, looks like we'll be completing this together. I'm Alice, nice to meet you."

  19. If Alice was to count the number of contacts that she had in this game, she would be able to count it on a single hand alone and not a single of them included any of this drama that had went down. However, it seemed as if that would no longer be the case as @Beatbox was just as involved in this mess as the rest of them. She folded her arms across her chest in disappointment with these big league players, expecting them to be more professional than something like a high school drama team filled with affairs. Having no merit in what to say here, let alone having any ability in defending herself in the event that any of them got even more delusional than they already were, she would simply close her eyes and think about what her family could possibly be doing in the world. Her body had been thousands of miles away at the time of Aincrad's "activation" so she didn't know if her family knew she was trapped or if they had already visited, but regardless the answer, it was far less trivial than the current conversation. Hell, she could ponder whether the sky was blue or not, but she'd be ready to carry on an actual conversation with anyone civilized enough to focus on the more important matters at hand.

  20. While she knew full and well that Mack definitely had a lot more important things on mind than idly chit chatting with her individually, she was caught off guard by him quickly addressing the crowd of players as if Alice was even besides him. He directed her and four others to get a special amulet from a player named @Hydra so she did as he commanded, making her way over to the player that the others walked over to, "Thank you for this." She equipped it, checking out the effect as she did so, "This will surely help." They had around fifteen minutes until they departed and all players were informed of their raiding groups, each consisting of six players rather than the standard four. She made her way over to her designated group after Mack pointed to her leader, a player that he deemed as one of the top players of all of Aincrad. Hydra, the one that gave her the special amulet was also in the group, but she did find that there was one player besides Mack that she knew by more than name alone - @Beatbox. She waved towards him, not certain as to whether he'd notice, though it wasn't too important if he didn't notice.

    On the note of acquaintances, however, Mack suggested that everyone involved in the raid should get to know each other, which is exactly what she had planned on doing if there was time. She had an incredibly limited source of connections to players in this game, consisting of only three players at this time, so the idea of expanding was exciting, especially with some of the strongest players in Aincrad. With Mack's speech coming to a resolution, he commanded the raiding groups to make way for the boss, throwing a recording crystal to the ground to bring a little hype and mental readiness to the upcoming fight. Alice looked at the five others within her group, all of which likely surpassed her in every way, leaving her slightly embarrassed at her total inexperience. To those that would stay together, rather than walk amongst the other groups, she would introduce herself, "Nice to meet you all, I'm Alice. New to these kinds of events, but hoping to contribute to the playerbase like yourselves." She didn't mention that she was likely the lowest level here, knowing that the amulet she had to use implied that, though the gear she had been lent by Mack left her in good preparation..

  21. Alice had been looking for some quests to knock out, finding extreme difficulty in obtaining information on any that were within her capabilities. Even some of the easiest ones people would tell her about required her to have some decent gear to stay alive, let alone allow her to deal any feasible damage required if it had to deal with combat. Not to mention the only one that didn't mention anything about combat had the chance of wiping out half of her health in a single gust of scorching wind, which she couldn't take seriously when she heard about it. This game really did have a strong learning curve, but after a few hours of scouting the floors that were available for her to explore and chatting with players and NPCs in town, she finally got word of an NPC named Zakariah who had an ideal quest for anyone just starting up in Aincrad. She would quickly make her way to the entrance of the man's shop, closing the door gently behind her.

  22. Word had been out for just around a week now that there was a boss lingering about on the second floor, one that had been cleared long ago, but judging from word that had been passed around, another brute had taken the freed land as his home. There was a call to players to form a raid to take out the boss quickly and efficiently, but there didn't seem to be much known about requirements of what players should be and what they should bring. Even low levels like herself were heading there, knowing that the hard hitting floor wipers would be there to help keep them alive if things got rough so Alice had taken it upon herself to give it a shot and see what this game was really about. Having made her way to the designated gathering spot, she noticed only one individual that she knew by name and that happened to be Mack, the one organizing the whole shebang. She gave a quick wave and asked a few things on her mind, "Are you ready to go through with this...? And am I?"

  23. She patiently watched as the other players were handed their presents from the smith, each receiving weapons of varying types, but all looking as if they were made from the same high quality care. Once it looked like they had all finished up, the smith called for the next in line, to which she made her move. Ensuring not to step on the cub that had been scampering around and keeping enough space between the other players to be polite, she would bow her head as she introduced herself, "Nice to meet you, Mack. I'm Alice." She allowed him to introduce himself formally if he so desired before continuing, "I'm sure you already know, but I saw your advert in town and couldn't pass up on finally getting a little boost in this game. There's no mercy on those just starting out and I was hoping on fighting the good fight alongside you tougher guys." While she hadn't looked too into the variety of options available for every enhancement on gear, she had a few ideas in mind, but only expected one request to be fulfilled considering how many players were here at this time alone. She would wait for an appropriate time or until he asked what she was looking for before continuing, "I'm kind of torn between two pieces of gear, one being a two handed straight sword with three enhancements of damage or an armor suit that has two enhancements of damage mitigation and one enhancement of regen. What do you think?" Either of them would make an incredible impact on her experience here in Aincrad, but both would be absolutely game changing in everything that she did here.

  24. It was certainly calming to know that this gentleman knew where everything was to make this a quick and easy quest, but she knew not to take it for granted. She had heard many times about the deaths of new players underestimating the dangers of the wild and she wasn't going to let herself go that easy, "Well, how about we go to the farm first? That sounds far more delightful than whatever deranged form of eight legged freaks there are in this game." She visibly shuddered at the thought of three foot tall spiders being a thing, but let the thought pass. Certainly, the developers of a game like this weren't that despicable... "It'll probably be considerably easier to deal with too, not that I think you'll have any issue with that." She would allow him to lead the way to their destination, following slightly behind and to his side so that they could engage in a modest conversation, "I'm guessing you've done this quest a time or two, mind me asking what profession you took on?" She imagined he took on the role of an alchemist, blacksmith, or cook, but that was nearly half of the available choices to choose from, but he certainly didn't seem like a fisherman or performer.

    @Beatbox

  25. Alice couldn't decipher whether she was embarrassed over such a blatant plea for help or excited over the thought of obtaining the first piece of gear that would allow her climb up the ladder, but it wasn't settling too well in her stomach with the rumbling of butterflies. She wasn't one to ask for much help, usually giving something in exchange to make up for the one-sided deal, but she had nothing to her name at this point. No col, no materials, and not a single safe way to obtain either of the two most fundamental forms of bartering, "You know what, it won't be a hand out. I won't let it... It'll be a loan. That's it." She tried to reason with herself, knowing that later on down the road, she would be capable of repaying this guy in one way, shape or form. Whether that turned out to be some great, powerful gear or simply a cuddly plush of his pet, she'd make sure that her gratitude was not forgotten. It hadn't been more than a few minutes after arriving on the fourth floor that she would wind up at the entrance of The Wanderer's Forge, watching through the glass as players had gathered for similar aspirations. While she had to ask around as to who Chewie was to determine the location of the where the player hosted event was, she was very relieved to know that she was only one of many to have taken part in it. Gently opening the door, she'd fall into the back of the crowd, hands interlaced behind her back as she awaited the acknowledgement of her turn to speak by the owner.
