  1. With the chains broken and the soldiers freed, they were only left with Hel. The others in the party immediately took advantage of this and began to strike with quick precision. With Hel's HP quickly draining and no way to restore it, it was time to finish this drawn out battle.

Following the other's lead, she came from behind, backstabbing the boss and draining her HP even further. At this rate, only a few more attacks and she would be reduced to nothing. Her actual fighting prowess was next to nothing. If needed, she could heal the amount of damage the boss dealt easily. Pulling out of the boss's reach, she watched on in anticipation, awaiting the next prime opportunity to strike.

It seemed as if Yuki had come to a standstill, but with her focus on tanking it didn't matter as much. Violet eyes onlooked the scene, the blue-haired boy would be making his move anytime now.

  2. Despite Raidou's sudden change in demeanor, Hidden didn't back down. Some part of her felt as if she needed to assert herself here and now. If she backed down, she was submitting to him overstepping the boundaries. His words made it even easier for venom to pour into her voice.

"A child? That's exactly what you always look at me as isn't it? I'm just some defenseless child that needs to be watched and protected?" Despite the anger in her voice, a sadness rested in her eyes. The doubt that she had came out to be true.

"But do not expect me to abandon you, You mistake caution for larceny. The girl was to be your shadow simply because you would decline otherwise. That child has leagues on you in wisdom, she knows when to cut it away. She knows who she is."

Hidden shot a look of hate in Raidou's direction. "There you go again, comparing me to some random little girl with a prejudice against the color orange." Setsuna was just a brat that thought she could just call orange player's monsters. "It isn't doubt, I know you-" Before she could react quick enough, he lunged forward bringing her into a tight embrace.

"When you are all alone, and you are sure that it is the end. Do not be surprised when I appear. I have always meant what I've said. I will talk when your willing to listen."

A flash of blue light and she was released, left alone. She bit down on her bottom lip and as a growl of anger escaped her throat. "...and just like that, he's gone."

'Your suspicions were correct, see? Now's he's fled because he was unwilling to trust you with the truth. It would be best to never see him again.'

  3.  "You stay here and get ready to break it." The woman ordered from her. Before she was even able to protest, NIGHT moved ahead leaving her to the chain. Pouting slightly, she awaited for things to transpire. She watched as Crozeph charged forward, stunning the woman. Taking her chance, she struck the chain, finally breaking it. The solider mouthed the words, "Thank you," before his spirit drifted upwards and faded from view.

"About time we got to get things started." She stood, dropping the chain to her feet. Brandishing a dagger, she faced the opponent. Hidden liked straightforward one on one combat, so having to free the soldiers had been rather annoying, but it was finally to just fight.

Hel wouldn't last, the team would rip her to shreds. In fact, it wouldn't even really be a challenge. Just a few swings and they would get to continue on. Hopefully the next fight wouldn't be just as tedious.

  4. He wasn't willing to give her the answer she was wanting to hear. Instead, he promised that Setsuna was growing stronger and that everything he had done was because he'd been worried about her. She opened her mouth to speak, but she was interrupted by her own thoughts.

'Lies. There has never been anyone in this world that has shed a care for us. Why would he be any different?'

Closing her eyes and taking a breath, her fist tightening around the demonic shard that lay in the palm of her hand. She opened them, a glassy fierceness in her violet eyes. "It doesn't matter if I have to do this alone. I've always done things alone even before coming to this world. Anyone that has even pretended to care just leaves or gets hurt. Whether its from someone else or me."

As he mentioned that he didn't show everyone all the sides to him the doubt screamed at her.

'What else is he hiding? You can't trust a word he says! Listen to your gut feeling!'

"Never hid anything? What do you call going behind my back and working against everything I'm trying to accomplish?" She stepped forward jabbing her index finger into his chest. "HAVING A F**KING CHILD STALK ME AND CLAIM ITS FOR MY SAFETY?"

  5. As Simmone stepped in front of the mirror her reflection became visible; however, it was different. Her attire had changed completely. A frown appeared on her face. It was only her standing in the mirror. Appalled, Hidden stepped forward, beginning to question everything. She reached out, touching the mirror with her pointer finger. The image's surface rippled for a moment but nothing changed. Hidden turned away.

"I... I don't want to see that." She admitted to Simmone before waiving it off with words. "It probably wouldn't have been that good anyway." Hidden now turned to Simmone herself. "You said yourself that Merchants have the ability to see things for what they truly are. Even if I can't see, can you see it?" Curiosity was driving this question, there was no mistaking it. Who was she really? Was she the monster everyone else made her out to be? Was she the misjudged girl that others promised her she was? She had been told so many different things, she was unsure of who to believe.

  6. "Simmone is correct."

A frown placed itself on Hidden's face. Everything? Everything she said had been correct? As he continued and explained it was Setsuna that had been tasked with her safety. The frown quickly was placed with silent fury, eyes trained on him now as if he were foe. She remained silent a few seconds after he said that it was always part of the deal.

"Tell me... how does that make any sense. Having her involved with me just endangers her. Her being in danger is entirely counterproductive." She tried to defeat him with logic; however, with her emotions so high she doubted she could play that front for very long. "I find danger or danger finds me. You really want her following me around?"

Not that she wanted the girl to follow her around anyway. "I've already got one little girl following me around, I don't need to worry about another. Especially one that might stab me in the back for my cursor." She didn't want anyone to follow her. She just wanted to be left alone.

'What is the real reason he is having her follow you? To strike you down when you are weakest? To spy? Its proof he doesn't trust you.' The doubt spoke to her. That's right. He distrusted her, and now he was trying to play it cool by casually telling her the answers.

  7. Raidou offered her the vial that she requested which she took ahold of. The doubt didn't voice its opinion as she knew this was the correct substance. It was freezing cold to the touch. Spreading the substance through her hair like she would shampoo the black of her hair would wash off in sheets like ink.

Returning to the state of her white hair put her at ease a little, but her troubles with Raidou had only begun. As he informed her to speak her questions, she took a deep breath. Swallowing her doubt for just a moment, she turned on him. "Recently I had a run in with another orange player that had been messing with me randomly over the span of the last few months. Than, just as he launches his biggest move, Setsuna just happens to be there.... Which could've just been coincidence, but than the player just turned up dead. I would've waived it off as disconnected but then I met Simmone..."

The memory of the cat-like wise woman stuck with her like a cloud of smoke. The heartbeat of the compass began to beat at a rapid pace as she walked and talked, and she stuck her hand into a nearby log. Pulling out a black crystal, she would eye it for a moment. A dark sense of power seemed to emanate from the material. She held the material in between them as if it created some for of distance.

"The question is: Are you making Setsuna follow me around? Is she supposed to be protecting me or something? That isn't part of the deal."

  8. Her words were heeded by none, causing her to shut her mouth. She had forgotten. She had no say in anything. The only reason she was allowed around was because of Yuki's pity on her. The only voice that was spoken in reply was the brisk and brutal one of NIGHT's. The woman was very condescending in any chance that she could get.

'I guess i'll just stick to the original plan then.' She began to continue picking at the links of the chains holding down the soldiers. Unlike NIGHT, she hadn't seemed to figure out how to do it very well. Hardly making any progress on the chain, she didn't feel like she was contributing very much in this battle.  She was a damage dealer, not some person to break them free of chains. Funny enough, most people would suspect her to be someone who was adverse in breaking free of confinement.

  9. A snap brought her to attention, causing her to turn. Unfocused eyes trained on Raidou and as they did the doubt once again began to creep in. Words spoke directly into her heart, poisoning her judgement.

'Are you even sure you know who he is? Are you sure you can trust him?'

Attempting to shrug away the thoughts, Hidden spoke up first. "Sorry, I was wondering who this chick was." She told him plainly as she pushed the dark hair away from her eyes. Looking at Raidou now, she didn't feel the same passion she had the last time she looked at him. Now, all she could feel was the overhanging doubt that hung over him. He was using her in some way. Everyone else intended to use her until her use expired and then they would throw her away.

Eyeing the small silver compass in her hand, she couldn't help but feel the heartbeat that resonated from within it. It seemed to beat faster when faced in a certain direction. "Its good that you came... I have some questions to ask. And apparently, I need to find some shard now."

  10. After recovering, the boy turned on her snarling. "You don't get it, do you murderer? We're in a safezone, meaning us green players can't be hurt. However, you player killers are still in danger. Everytime you step into a safe zone, you are weak. Now, drop all of your gear, or its not gonna get pretty."

A smirk appeared on Hidden's face. "The funny thing is that you think you have room to threaten me. Go ahead, try and kill me..." Violet eyes flashed with hostility. "See where it gets you." A mixture of her own Pride and Wrath with her statement seemed to provoke the enemy as all three of them charged at once. Ducking and dodging between the blows, she managed to escape them without a scratch. After a few minutes, the attacks seemed to stop.

"What wrong, are you tired of this game?" Wiping his face, the ringleader charged forward with his sword, thrusting it forward. This time, Hidden allowed it to impale her. As it did, the man's face became filled with glee. However, Hidden's health bar was hardly touched. What level was this player? A low Tier Two? He hardly was able to deal anything past her meager mitigation. A smile burned through him as her victory was certain. Her health healed with battle healing.

"I'd suggest you run and hope I never find you outside a safe zone... or else you'll be dead where you stand." Freaking out, he sprinted away and his friends followed. How pitiful.

  11. Hidden turned, but as she did the footsteps sounded out as the trio began to sprint forward. Hidden sighed with annoyance, activating Vanish. While it seemed that she no longer existed, the trio stopped and looked frantically.

"Where'd she go? Spread out and find her!" From the shadows, Hidden glared at this boy with hatred in her eyes. This one was the main source of the problem. Bring down the king and the kingdom would follow afterward. It was a game of chess. Activating <<Surprise Attack>>, she dashed toward him, wrapping her body around him and pressing the edge of her blade into his neck. "Keep it up, and you'll all be on death row waiting to be slaughtered."

The man simply laughed. "Really? Inside a safe zone? You don't stand a chance." He chuckled, his hand reaching back to grab her. Hidden released the boy, and shoved him away, where he ended up sprawling onto the ground.

  12. The chief made no reaction to her statement, resuming his usual activities as an idle NPC. Turning through the door, she made her escape from the chief's house. Incognito Assassin could wait a little bit. The questline wasn't as exciting as she figured it would be. Attempting to make her exit to the city, a voice called out to her.

    "Hey!"

She turned, seeing three players approaching. They were green players, unlike her. Two men and one woman. Hidden frowned, and spoke cooly in return. "Can I help you? Warning you, I'm not the kind of person to waste time." A chuckle from one of them. The say man spoke, making it obvious that he was the ringleader of this little gang.

"Don't be so brash now! You're an orange player right? How is it that you're in here? That isn't allowed."

Hidden rolled her eyes. "I'm gonna go now. Don't follow if you know what is healthy."

  13. Hidden had picked out the important information. Her opponent was fast, and there was a good chance she wouldn't be able to sneak up on him. She was willing to bet that he fought similar to her with the cloak and dagger, but it was really bodyguards that would turn out to be the real problem. Multiple enemies gave her trouble as her low defense and single-target attacks weren't going to work on more than one target. With each attacker, there was a higher chance of her actually taking a hit.

Of course, they could most likely be easily dispatched. With a few buffs and a couple of heals for insurance, she was more than willing to bet that she could take care of just about anything thrown her way. Hidden sighed, accepting the new quest. "I guess I can deal with this... later. I'd rather go deal with something else for now. Not sure if this is entirely what I want to do right now."

  14. An apologetic expression rested on the chief's face. "I'm afraid it is. If there is a talent that I possess, I would have to offer it to the fact that my troops have never lost on the battlefield that I have commanded. Now, Uso-Tsuki himself is known for his smooth words, able to influence most around him. He's also known for being nearly impossible to sneak up or land a blow on. He's fast."

The chief wasn't sounding too hopeful about the situation. "Another problem is, he is liked among even some of my guards, making it impossible to mobilize against him. Outside influence is required. I doubt he's planning this ordeal by himself either. He might be strong, but everyone in this city knows that I became chief for a good reason." There was nothing smug about his expression in saying this. Of course, Hidden was essentially picking out the important words and disregarding the rest.

  15. After a minute or so of him skimming through the papers, he seemed settled on the matter. Of course, he wasn't without grief. You could see it resting within the man's eyes. A dissatisfied grunt is herd from the chief before he begins to speak once again. "I thought of Uso-Tsuki like a son. Its a bit hard to think of him doing something like this. His plan is nearly flawless. He intends to intercept my caravan on my way to an important meeting that I can't afford to miss. We must make preparations to stop him before he can continue with this plan. Another thing is we can't let him know we are on to him. He has a great deal of influence, if he discovers that we are on to him, he will vanish without a trace, never to be seen again."

Hidden rolled her eyes. "I suppose that is where I come in. Isn't it?"

  16. Hidden's eyes fell on a campsite as she waited for Raidou. She had received a reply with the simple word, 'Alright'. She didn't know exactly how long he would be. Stepping towards the unfamiliar campsite, she would approach with extreme caution. Hidden figured it was an NPC's based on the fact that it was a complete with a firepit and horse-drawn wagon. A woman dressed in green emerged from the wagon, bringing Hidden back to an alert state.

"So, it appears you've found me,

The silver-haired girl frowned. "Exactly whom did I find?"

Seeming to almost ignore her question, the woman continued, "I tend to move around quite a lot, but someone always finds me. I suppose you are looking for some herbs?" This caused Hidden to simply blink in confusion. "Why would I be looking for herbs? That's kinda my fri-... my ally's shtick."  The woman's emerald eyes lit up with excitement.

"Most simply expect me to gather their materials for them, but few truly care about the process itself. You surprise me."

Hidden frowned. This was an odd NPC"I can make you gather materials? If so that would actu-" She paused as the woman reached into her dress and pulled out a thin, silver compass.  "You may borrow my compass. Dark magic has made it capable of locating an incredibly rare item called a Demonic Shard. Should you find one, and bring it back to me, you will prove yourself worthy of my teachings. Take care, and may good  fortune travel with you." With that, a message appeared in front of her, stating that she had accepted the <<Earning a Living | Gatherer>> quest.

"What's a demonic shard? I've never heard of one of those." The NPC spoke no more words, instead beginning to tend to an assortment of herbs on her wagon. "What a crazy woman"  she muttered.

  18. <<EAL | Gatherer>>

Only hours had passed since the shadows had swept her away into nothingness. Left with only her equipment, she had been completely reset and forced to reallocate everything. It seemed much had changed and somehow she hadn't returned the same level. She was left weaker.

They had won the boss battle right? She was alive, so that had to have meant something. That meant it was time to continue as normal. She had returned to the first floor as a net of safety from players who would take the moment of weakness in the world to strike. She needed to reaccess herself and get everything figured out again. However, that was hard to do when even the first floor resembled nothing of what was lodged in memory. It was like everything had changed.

A strand of dark hair fell in front of her face, making her even more annoyed. That was another thing that needed to be fixed. Having returned to her black hair made her feel less secure about herself. She opened her menu, beginning to create a message to send to Raidou.

    'No.'

Her doubt seemed to almost have a voice of its own, halting her progress.

'Why reach out to someone who's just made you a part of his chessboard? Are you not strong enough to deal with everything yourself? Can't you do anything?'

She shook her head, pushing the doubt's voice away. "I need him to answer some questions anyway." She promised herself, continuing to send the message. Speaking with Simmone left her with questions that couldn't be left unanswered. The now black-haired girl sent the message, before huddling herself next to a tree.

  19. The chief quickly took a glance at the papers and first asked, "Where did you come across the information? I have to make sure it is valid." Hidden shifted her weight in annoyance, having been unprepared to actually explain something to an NPC"Some guy named Tagetto, he was working with Uso-Tsuki. I found these papers in his house after disposing of him." The chief raised an eyebrow. "You understand that you aren't supposed to take that sort of action without permission? Tagetto should have been brought in for questioning instead."

A flash of anger appeared in Hidden's eyes. "That was never on the table. You hired me simply for the task to take care of a problem. How I take care of that problem is up to my discretion." Whether it was coded or he could sense her hostility, he turned back to examining the papers that she had given to him. Hidden hoped this wouldn't take long.

  20. The sound of armor seemed much closer than before. It seemed as if they were inside of the building now, investigating what had happened. Opening a window, she would activate her vanish mod before slipping through to freedom, leaving the house she had just destroyed behind. It wouldn't be too long before the house rebuilt itself and the NPC respawned anyway. Keeping to the back alleyways, it wouldn't be too long before she had returned to the chief's house. A knock at the door, and footsteps would approach the door.

The door swung open, the chief looking at Hidden with a wary gaze. Stepping inside, Hidden would hand the results of her investigation to him. He took them but didn't look away from me. Shaking her head in response, a heavy sigh exhaled from his lungs. He moved over to his seat, beginning to take a look at the papers Hidden had presented him.

  21. Despite Simmone's words seeming outlandish, Hidden couldn't help but ponder some of her questions. She doubted they were all connected, but what if Raidou had been the one to kill Risque? What if he had sent Setsuna to follow her around to protect her? It seemed unlikely, but if it were true... then their promise meant nothing. She wasn't protecting anything, they were all risking themselves for her. Something she hadn't asked for. She didn't want their protection. Pushing down the uneasy thoughts, she would listen to Simmone who was now gesturing to some large mirror.

"If you were to see yourself in an ideal form, what would you see?"

    "Um..."

'My ideal form? What does that even mean? And is it just me, or does this mirror look the one from Harry Potter?'

"Would you like to see what it might be? Who you might be?"

    "I guess..."

She stood, stepping forward to the reflective surface. Her eyes peered forward gazing what just happened to be... nothing. An unamused expression set on her face. "Is this some kind of joke? Or is your mirror broken? There's nothing in it." No image displayed itself in the mirror, not even herself. She turned away from the mirror, her gaze turning on Simmone. "How about this, what do you see in the mirror?"

  22. Turning back to enter the house, she understood she needed to make her work quick. The guards would be coming to investigate soon from the ruckus she had just made within city limits. She had to get the information for the quest. Quickly, she began to tear up the house for an obtainable item. The sounds of clinking armor approached closer and closer. Moving up a flight of stairs, she would check Tagetto's bedroom. Luckily for her, she found the item there. Documented plans of the assassination procedure. From a quick glance, they were planning to kill him as he made his way on a trip. An ambush? How typical. Catching an opponent off guard was her typical tactic as well, but it felt dirty from an exterior perspective.

All that remained now she supposed was getting this info back tot he chief and hoping that he would take her word and these plans as fact.

  23. Tagetto laughed in her face. "Think I am scared of you little girl? I could easily crush you. This will be a fun story to tell Uso-Tsuki!" The man cracked his knuckles and began to advance. Her eyes darkened as she watched him come forward. "Little girl huh? I'd suggest against calling me any names I haven't given you permission to use." Taggeto laughed and charged forward. Ducking underneath his blow, She thrust her weapon into him. A burst of white light emit from the stike, throwing his body through the wall of his own house. Fear corrupted his eyes as his health dropped to zero. She walked forward, placing a foot on his chest.

"That was easy enough." Coughing Tagetto let out his final words.  "You.. monster! An incarnation... of death." Replying to him as he crumbled into data crystals she would tell him, "No, you were just far weaker than a little girl like me." Her foot fell onto the ground as he perished.

  24. Glassy eyes met Floor Two's scenery as she appeared within it's city's limits. The walk to her house was infuriating, but as an orange player she had gotten use to walking around. She stepped slowly through the city, uninterrupted by the city's guards who had yet to spot her.

The rocky grassland fields of the second floor were a nice thing to see if you hadn't looked at it hundreds of times before. Finding the path to her house, she followed it until it brought her to the small homely house. Taking a deep breath, she pushed open the door and quickly took the stairs up to her bedroom, not giving Ayame the chance to talk with her. She wasn't sure how she felt about the young girl. How was she supposed to deal with someone who had been leeching off her for so long? Thoughts moved to the time where the young girl had pouted on the ground. Had all of that been fake? Only time would tell. If she found out the girl had been using her... she'd have to either sever their ties... or sever the girl's lifeline.

  25. Standing, I turned to head inside the settlement, the guards stationed at the gates giving me a stern look as I stepped forward. Without a change in expression, I melted into the shadows, stepping between them. A confused expression took over their faces. After a moment though, they seemed to act as if nothing had ever even happened. She strolled through this city, stepping onto the teleport pad. She supposed she ought to go home. She hadn't mentioned her leave to Ayame; however, she wasn't even sure that was important.

Blue light overtook her figure as she was teleported away from the sixth floor. She doubted she would return there any time soon. She needed to make her way up to face stronger enemies. She had only come back down to get the skill. Now that she had obtained it, it could sit and gather dust in her skill list.
