  1. Raeze gasped softly as Rhozarth landed on her arm. His weight nearly toppled her over, even though she was warned. Despite being a very clumsy person, she regained her balance as quickly as she could so as to not scare off the familiar. 'He's really is quite heavy for such a creature,' thinking to herself. She didn't expect him to weigh all that much. 'Ah please don't hate me, I'm sorry I'm clumsy.' She thought after regaining her full balance. She was worried he would fly off and then ignore her because of how lame she is. 'I mean what kind of 17 year old really trips as often as I do. There cant be many. No wonder no one talks to me. I must look like the weakest of weak.'

All this time she keeps her eye contact and smile directed toward Rhozarth. Hoping he would at least like her a little. She had all but forgotten their previous conversation but nodded at the material sent her way, she would gather them once she was done seeing the familiar up very closely. "Thank you, again, Domarus. And I do hope we stay in contact so I can thank you more when I reach the front lines. Because you are one of the reasons I will have made it." She smiles brightly, some true happiness shining through. "I'm very glad I met you." She nods towards him, "Both of you." She directs it towards Rhozarth as well.

    @Domarus

  2. Raeze looked from Turnip to Domarus and back again. Turnip switched so fast it made her head spin. However, she allowed him to leave.

"Interesting is for sure a good way to put it." She replied looking toward Domarus again. "And yeah, its better than some people but then there are many others who have worked their tails off to get to the frontlines. I aspire to work that hard. Someone needs to pay for the deaths that have already happened, and the more that are surely to come."

Raeze noticed the creature watching her a little bit so she took off her glove and held her hand out. "May I see you?" She questioned straight to Rhozarth. She kept steady eye contact and allowed an easy and genuine smile to appear. "I'm harmless, really. You could surely kill me faster than I could do any damage to you. Even though I never would." Raeze laughed softly smiling brighter.

  3. Raeze let out a warning growl. She didn't like people treating her like an 8 year old, because she was definitely NOT. She ducked out from underneath his hand. "I'd love to tag along, you just have to promise me one thing." She looked at him with all the seriousness that she could muster. "Never pat my head or ruffle my hair again. Deal?" Keeping eye contact while tilting her head down, Raeze lifted both of her hands. She parted her ponytail in two and pulled the sections to tighten it.

"As long as that is established," she dropped her hands to her hips, "We're good to go. And I'll definitely run and hide when we get to the minotaur." She laughed brightly at her little joke.

"What level are you, if you don't mind me asking?" She looked at him allowing some serious-ness to return. She was happy he had helped ease her fear, she couldn't help being so scared of truly dying. She wanted to live, she wanted to finally help make a difference. Hopefully he would be able to help her do that.

  4. Raeze turned her dark blue eyes upward as Ane hopped up. She looked for a moment at the hand that was extended out to her. Slowly, she reached up and took ahold of her hew friend's hand, allowing her to help her short frame up. "Thank you Ane. I didn't know I needed you, but I did girl." She allowed a full on smile to grow. "Will you make an agreement with me?" She asked, hoping the answer would be favorable. "I know it will be a while until I'm at the front lines, but can we keep in touch. Make 'dates' just to catch up? I don't want to loose your friendship. Because honestly, its exactly the thing that I hope can carry on even after this." She smiled even brighter. "We may not know much about eachother yet, but all in due time. And that's the greatest thing. Friendships take time." Raeze laughed happily.

Raeze had taken a few steps and then felt her root roll over something. Slightly in shock, she jumped back a little, when she looked down she saw a rock crumbled right where she had just lifted her foot. Raeze squatted down to see something glittering, upon moving the crumbled rock she saw a small red crystal glittering from the sun. She gingerly picked it up and gasped, "Anemone! LOOK!" She felt herself get excited, her small gloved hand holding up the rock.

In that moment she had a great idea and couldn't wait to return to a town so she could repay Ane with something she thought might mean a lot to her. @Anemone

  5. Raeze looked toward the area she pointed and nodded, "Ahh, I really need to obtain a new skill." She laughed lightheartedly. She grabbed the items and handed them to Ane, forgetting that they were searching for item for herself. "I feel really bad that you're doing all of the work."

After not finding any more items by the tree, Raeze sat back on her heels and sighed. "I really don't want others to have to do the work for me. I'm really not that type of person." Her dark blue eyes looked toward her new friend. "My dad taught me that nothing good in life is free. Sometimes it costs money..." She turned her head back toward the ground, "Sometimes its time. And neither are commodities."

She allowed herself to fall backward onto her butt and sat there for a moment. "I don't want you to think I just want items from you, or you to do all of the work to get me 'free' items." Raeze let out another sigh, this time heavier, "I sincerely appreciate your help and I recognize that I could not do this on my own."

    [ID: 84999 LD: 7 (+0MATS)]

  6. Raeze looked at the ground and kicked her foot, bringing up some dirt. "Oh well, I'm sorry I'm not much help. I'd love to help in any way I can. See," She agitatedly kicked the ground more, "I'm only a level 1. I'm not sure I would help you out that much." She looked at him nervously for a moment. She was so scared to actually go out, but that was the only way she was going to get anywhere. "If it wouldn't be too much of a burden, I'd love to go with you. Maybe learn something along the way." She smiled brightly at the boy, allowing her nervousness show some. 'Maybe I can even make a friend here.' She thought.

Too many people were either busy making this their life or trying to clear the game, but maybe she could merge the two and live her life here happily while working hard to lend a hand in clearing the game.

"What is this quest about anyway? I wont die," She looked at him, with a serious look in her eye for a moment, "Will I?"

  7. Raeze grinned widely, "Is it really that different on the front lines? Do you think I'll ever make it out there before the game is beaten?" Raeze turned her deep blue eyes toward her new friend. "Its weird, there are days where you almost forget this is a game though. It just seems like life. I mean, it is in truth, our lives right now. But So many people are just sitting in towns or safe zones, carrying on as if the real world was the fantasy now." Raeze didn't mean to keep turning the conversation to a darker note, but she hadn't had someone to talk to, let alone tell her own fears to. She crawled over to some roots sticking out of the ground. She slipped on a plain pair of leather gloves, which she had forgotten about earlier, and began digging around in the leaves and grass tangled around the roots.

"I also think that alchemy could be very fun and exciting. Ive read books that have the writer's version of alchemy, and as much as I hate him, I would love to see the route Kayaba took on in. You know?" Raeze looked up from her task toward the girl for a moment.

After being unsuccessful, yet again, Raeze moved around the tree to search more.

    [ID: 84854 LD: 8 (+0MATS) Total: 4MATS]

  8. Raeze looked at the girl in awe, she had just searched and there really was something there. She took that to mean that she had a keen eye on finding things, just needed some skill help. "Well, from the research I've done, I really want to be an alchemist. The prospective to be able to make items that could help in a life or death situation seems like the best thing for me. I don't want to loose anymore people than what we have. Even though I know we will, I also know that I cant just lie on my back and take this beating Kayaba is dealing to all of us. Its time more of us that have just hid in the first two towns start taking action." Raeze felt herself swell with conviction. She felt so strongly about helping others and attempting to help get this terrible game over with.

She turned to Ane, "By the way, what is a patch. Can you explain that?" Raeze then caught another part of her explanation. "Wait, you're a KoB? I never thought I'd see one down here helping a scaredy cat noob." Raeze laughed brightly. "That's really great though, it just goes to show you can't judge someone on their guild." @Anemone

Raeze continued searching nearby rock piles, which all upturned nothing.

  9. Raeze shook her head, "Oh no, I was just worried you might be hurt." She looked him over a few times. "You ARE okay right?" she asked to confirm. He seemed to be physically okay. "And I do understand looking for your friends. I had one IRL who helped make sure I even got the game. But I don't know if he's even alive. I've been holed up in the Town of Beginnings, too scared to leave." Raeze chuckled a bit nervously, which she seemed to be doing a lot lately. She was having a lot of people talk to her due to her request for help, more conversation than she's had in a long time.

She sat beside him. "I'm Raeze. No guild though." She gave a genuinely happy grin. "Do you by chance know their username? Maybe I could help you find them? I mean, I don't know very many people but, I dunno, I might be of some help." She looked at the dark haired boy, noting to herself that he was pretty well dressed.

  10. Raeze nodded, her nerves began to ebb away. This girl was very polite and soft spoken, but Raeze could see having her as a friend. Maybe even a close friend. She found herself smiling, seeing as Ane's smile and laugh was infectious. "I think I would love to have a girl friend," Raeze frowned and continued, "A female friend. Yeah, anywho, I'd gladly accept having you as a friend." Raeze laughed at her oddly stated sentence and followed Ane out of the safe zone.

She watched the lavender lipped girl pick out a small pile of stones from the grass. Something Raeze herself would never have seen. "That's really cool! I need to invest in some more skills and possibly an item or two." She giggled. "I have to search really hard before actually being able to find something." She proceeded to check a small bush near the pair. Raeze stuck her hand into the center of the bush, intaking a quick breath. "Hey, this bush has thorns." She closed her eyes as she began to carefully move her hand around.

With a sigh, she pulled her hand out, slightly cut up but empty. "Aaand normally this happens." She laughs lightheartedly. She then stood and went over to Ane taking the colored stones gratefully. "Thank you."

  11. Having had time to clear and cool her head, Raeze walked back toward the boys once more. "I'll eventually find someone to team up with. Right now I need to get a feel for being out and about. Like I said I've stayed on floor 1 and 2 the entire time we've been in this game." She chose to lean her short frame against a tree, contentedly watching the familiar fly around in search of items. Once again she found herself thinking of her friend. He had been so kind to hold a spot for her to get the game. And not once had she thought to really find him. Then again, she couldn't really bare the thought of finding him on the monument.

A yell pulled her out of her inner thoughts. She looked back toward the ground to see Turnip holding, ironically, a T1 turnip. Raeze chuckled and shook her head. However his excitement was contagious, her smile grew wider as she clapped for him. "Congratulations! Be careful though, it gets kind of addicting." She stepped forward, having her eye on a rock she thought she might find something in, however she felt her boot roll over something. She inspected the foreign feeling, only to see a crumbled rock.

  12. Raeze nodded, "Its something I carried over from the real world. My.." She began, but stopped herself. She knew most people hated to talk about their families and friends. Most liked to act as if it didn't exist anymore. "My dad was a doctor, so he was a real clean freak. Its gotten worse since Kayaba did what he did..." She realized she was letting this whole meeting become very solemn. "I'm so sorry. Well just act like I never said that." She smiled, an unsure and nervous smile while scratching the back of her head.

"Anywho, I really need materials because all of my stuff is still the mass produced beginner stuff. I need to seriously go shopping. But.. I don't really have friends." Raeze looked at the ground. She worried all of her talking was going to scare the girl off. She really wanted a friend, a female friend would be great because she missed her sister and mom, whom she was very close with irl. "Would you like to head out?" her question wavered a bit, the growing nerves beginning to show.

  13. Raeze had been wondering around Deliah looking for new information on how to gain levels quicker. She stopped at one of the NPC shops located right inside the towns' gates. Her attention was diverted when she heard a yell from outside the gate. Raeze dropped the item she had picked up to look at and made her way to the gate. Outside she saw a person laying on their back.

Assuming they were the owner of the yell, Raeze walked slowly out of the town. "Are you alright?" She called to the figure. 'This could get me in trouble, what if they aren't in the town because they are a pker?' She mused to herself. She threw her caution to the wind mostly, due to her overwhelming need to make sure he was okay. She was like that, give the shirt off her back to a stranger so they would stay warm kind of person. So many people had already helped her, even when they didn't have to. As Raeze got closer she noticed the figure was a dark haired young male.

    "Hello?"

  14. Raeze kept her distance for some time, letting her frustration work itself away. She hopped from tree root to tree roots not really finding any good places to search. During this time, she looked at the two people who had joined her.

One of which, she was unsure about still. Domarus had a certain air about him, which confused her. He outwardly seemed to be a rather nice person, however, this death game changed people. She had watched guild-mate fight in the middle of town and turn on each other, battling with no holds barred. She planned to keep an eye on him, keep her naturally kind personality, but she decided she would be cautious around him. She called her answer to him @Domarus "I'm going for DPS, with a focus on evasion and regeneration over mitigation."

She turned and glanced at Turnip. He was weak, that was obvious, but so was she. She hoped he would be able to grow and set out and help toward ending this terrible game. Because after all, that should be everyone's final goal. She knew it wasn't that way, but one could always hope.

Her thoughts had brought her to a rather large berry bush, which she found herself sitting beside. She took a moment to unenthusiastically search the bush.

    [ID: 84706  LD:10 (+0MATS) TOTAL: 6MATS]

A heavy sigh escaped her lips, with this she was beginning to feel Turnip's feelings. But she refused to let it slow her down. Raeze stood once more in an attempt to find a good looting spot.

  15. Raeze noticed the slight tension building within the group, silently and gratefully took the items, but chose not to make any comments on it. She held herself a little higher, hopefully making herself look somewhat more authoritative. "Well Turnip," She made a quick face stumbling over the odd-ness of it. "I posted a request on the town bulletin for assistance in gathering materials. I am not comfortable going out to battle monsters quite yet. If you would like, I assure you, I will not hold you back." She kept her eyes on him, even though he was taller than she, Raeze made sure she didn't falter so she didn't appear to be backing down.

"Please keep in mind, Boars appear to be the most spawned monster on this floor. Boars are one of the strongest monsters in comparison to our levels." She raised her eyebrows at him to see if he might challenge her knowledge. She continued on very quickly. "With that information, if you would like to venture out. Be my guest. As for me, I will stay right here, happily gathering my materials." She was very irritated by that point. Turnip had said it like, it was wrong for her to just want to gather things. She turned away and walked a few steps away, attempting to calm her frustration. 'Thank you very much! Now I am irritated and don't much feel like being out here.' She ranted in her inner monologue.

The breeze blew up for a moment, and movement and a glimmer of light caught her eye. When she bent down to inspect the item, it turned out to be a piece of plastic wrapper stuck in the grass. Her irritation level increased. Raeze picked up the trash and angrily threw it away in a nearby bin.

    [ID: 84695  LD: 1 (+0MATS)  TOTAL: 6MATS]

  16. Raeze looked up at Domarus, the surprise frozen into her features. "T-thank you!" She wasn't really sure what to say. People never really noticed her due to her size, let alone are nice enough to give her something. "A-are you sure you don't need them? I don't even have a profession yet. I planned to get some materials so I could train hard once I did go on that quest." She looked at him unsure. She put the items in her bag, extremely grateful for his help.

While talking, Raeze moved to the other side of the tree and dug around more in the dirt surrounding the old, knotted roots that protruded out of the ground. She politely awaited the cloaked male's response, patiently allowing him to do his own searching before answering her. She genuinely hoped he was able to find something useful to him.

She was pretty in awe to see the familiar help out it's master with searching for items, however, she admitted to herself that she still probably couldn't have one for herself. She really didn't like animals much, she could tolerate them out of respect for others, but not have one of her own.

Raeze dug her hand underneath a hole in one of the roots, feeling around for a moment.

    [ID: 84690  LD: 17  (+1MAT) TOTAL: 4MATS]

Raeze squealed in delight as she pulled a large rusty iron nail out of the hole in the tree root. "AHH! How cool, I found something!"

  17. Raeze silently watched the other girl easily pick the bug off of her, trying her hardest to calm her nerves. "I am so sorry. I have this thing... and um I don't to well with bugs being on me." A nervous bubble of laughter erupted out of her. She wiped her still trembling hand on her pants a few times before extending it once more. With a deep reassuring sigh, Raeze spoke again. "My name is Raeze, its wonderful to meet you. I sincerely appreciate you coming to help me start my late journey." Her smile reappeared, this time with slightly less confidence. "You said your name is Anemone?"

'I wonder if its like the sea plant that everyone has a hard time saying properly?' She thought shortly to herself.  Reaching her other hand up she began to fidget with her ponytail. A nervous habit she had acquired since joining this death game.

    @Anemone

  18. Raeze jumped back a little, having never seen a familiar she was unsure of what to do. In the real world she didn't like animals because of the bugs and dirt they carried. However, 'A dragon couldn't have bugs... could it?' She questioned herself. She smiled brightly at the newcomer with the dragon. "Hello Domarus! I am Raeze, and I would love some help gathering items! I'm seriously new to this, I've been to scared to leave the Town of Beginnings." She chuckled with a little nervousness, reaching a hand up to fidget with her long ponytail.

She called to the cloaked male as he went a little ways away in search for items, "I don't believe you have introduced yourself. What may we call you?" She spoke politely and an easy smile on her face. Her gaze shifted to Domarus as she found her own spot to search. Raeze kneeled down by the knotted roots of a tree, opened her menu and quietly slid on a pair of basic gloves and set forward with digging around the roots.

She looked once more at Domarus, he had an air about him that said not everything was quite as he made it seem. She felt that maybe his happy demeanor wasn't quite genuine. However she continued on her search, 'I'll figure it out eventually.'

    [ID: 84686  LD: 12 (+0MAT)  TOTAL: 1MAT]

Raeze sat back on her heels and sighed, nothing. She must have gotten lucky earlier. She stood up and stretched her back, wiping a sweat bead off her forehead.

  19.      The young 5'2" girl jumped nearly a foot in the air when a perky voice shot to life from behind her. Quickly turning and taking a few steps away from the figure, Raeze saw another female not much taller than herself.

"ACK! Hello!" She wasn't used to people just popping up and saying hello. Most players paid her no mind, then she remembered that she had put up a request for help not moments ago. 'Crap, I'm going to scare her off before I even get started with this.' She mentally smacked herself around a bit and then smiled just as brightly as the other girl.

"I'm Raeze!" she popped off brightly, 'Oh gosh, I'm so weird. This is why I have no friends.' She held out her small hand in greeting to the blonde. A wind blew through the area, lifting her dark blue hair. Before the girl could grab Raeze's hand a ladybug landed on the inside of her palm. Her dark blue eyes grew very wide as panic began to rise in her chest. She quickly and robotically marched to a nearby tree and frantically shook her hand around to get the bug to fly off. When she looked at her hand, seeing that the bug was still there, she screamed in frustration. "OH GOSH GET OFF ME YOU NASTY THING!!"

  20.      Raeze looked at the male, her eyes widened in shock, not expecting anyone else to be around. "I'm fine, thank you. Just a little clumsy." She chuckled a little nervously. People normally didn't notice her, she spent most of her time reading the information manuals that were put out for everyone to read. She stood on her own, brushing some stray strands of grass off her baggy pants. "I appreciate the offer though." She looked back up once she had righted herself, finally noticing his red eyes. "A-are you okay? Has something bad happened?"

Raeze saw a figure out of the corner of her eye, causing her attention to be diverted slightly. The person seemed to have seen her fall, and the most recent interaction with the newcomer.

"I've just decided to come out looking for MATS. I need to get some more items so I can get better equipment. I'm so ready to get out of this death game." She growled the last part of her sentence, speaking once again to the boy.

  21.      An extremely short girl wondered on the very outskirts of town, through a quiet field. She was attempting to search for some decent materials that may help her. Since she was so low a level, she was hoping materials would help her to be able to acquire a slightly better weapon.  The girl didn't appear to be in a hurry, as she moved slowly around keeping her head directed at the ground.  Even though her focus was toward the ground, she still managed to trip into a hole in the grass. Her short form smacking hard into the grass, a small yelp erupting from the girl.

"Owww, how the crap did I even miss that?" She groaned noisily at herself. She rolled onto her back and looked up into the sky. She still couldn't believe that she was here. 'Well I mean, I never left the Town of Beginnings. Crap, anyone I meet now is going to think I'm a scaredy-cat.' She mentally chastised herself, smacking her forehead in the process.

When she laid her hand back down in the grass, she felt something kind of poking out. She rolled onto her knees and began moving the grass around in an attempt to possibly find her first item.

    [ID: 84626 LD:20  +1MAT]

Raeze gasped excitedly when she pulled up a small soft wooden block. She quickly stuck it into her side pouch and tried to stand up, her foot catching in another hole and falling down again.

  22. A short, dark blue haired girl walked up to a wide notice board in the town. The board carried a few notes tacked to it from other players requesting help, some very official posters detailing how far the frontlines had gotten, and many notes showing products being sold. Raeze looked around, seeing that no one was around at the moment, she took a few steps toward the board. Her nerves began to take a hold of her. She grabbed one of the free pins and set her request paper in the lowest corner of the board. Placing the pin precisely in the top center of the paper, she removed it and pushed the pin into the same spot two more times. She looked it over once more to be sure all the information was there, it read;

    Background:

Sakura had been raised in a very happy family setting, by both parents, with a younger sister who was attached to Sakura's hip when possible. She was in her final year of high school and had high hopes to be a game designer once she completed all of her schooling. She always tried to keep up with all recent gaming technology, making Akihiko Kayaba her current idol. Aside from going to school and spending time playing video games, Sakura also spent a lot of her time helping her mother around the house and with errands around town. Sakura had kept an extremely close eye on the application for the beta test, waiting at her computer for it to open. She had ensured that she was one of the very first applicants to submit. Alas, as the beta launch grew closer, Sakura became more and more withdrawn. She would clean for hours after school, her OCD and germaphobic tendencies becoming stronger. When the day arrived, Sakura ended up cleaning her entire house in frustration after receiving her rejection letter.

Sakura was extremely close with her parents and they supported her dream to becoming a game designer. So, when the announcement was made for the official launch of SAO, they gave her a small sealed envelope.

    Spoiler

In the kitchen, Sakura found that her father had just gotten home and the clock safely read, 5:02 p.m. Sakura sighed, at least she didn’t mess up and miss her task. Her mother was nearly done with dinner, having made pork patties braised in a mushroom gravy, sautéed mixed vegetables, and steamed jasmine rice.

Sakura sniffed the air, enjoying the scents that flowed around. She grabbed utensils for everyone, laying napkins down before placing the chopsticks on the table. She adjusted each cushion before sitting down and crossing her legs. Mei sat in her usual seat beside Sakura with their father seated across from them.

Sakura realized that she had forgotten drinks for everyone and quickly hopped up. She retrieved the teapot from the stove and some cups from the cabinet. She carefully made her way back to the table, setting the cups down softly. She then began to pour the tea out, starting with her father, then mother, Mei, and lastly herself. Once finished, she set the pot on a trivet on the table for everyone to refill their cups as needed.

Sakura’s mother laid out plates in order as well, except she served herself last. The family gave thanks for their meal, then began to eat. Her mom softly told her father about her day in between bites, him occasionally smiling to encourage her. Sakura’s father was a chief doctor at Osaka Central Hospital and liked to keep his work away from home. He didn’t think his daughters needed to hear about all the bad things that he dealt with. Unknowingly, he had also passed on his extreme neatness and constant need for cleanliness to his eldest daughter.

Once her mother was done with her day’s events, Sakura’s father looked at her, “How was school?” He lifted his rice bowl and began eating some of it.

“School was the same as always. I aced my test that I had and got all of my homework done before coming home.” Sakura kept her tone even and polite, even though she really didn't feel like talking to anyone. She had religiously been keeping tabs on how many days until the official launch. Which, in fact, was the very next day.

“That's wonderful darling, we are very proud that you have done so well with your schooling.” He looked over at his wife with a twinkle in his eyes. Sakura's mother began talking next, "However, lately we have noticed that you've been quite withdrawn. We understand how disappointing receiving your rejection letter was." She mischievously looked back at her husband. "We also know that, if we are correct, tomorrow is the official launch of your game. Are we correct?" He looked expectantly at his daughter.

“Um, y-yeah.” Sakura stuttered slightly, setting her rice bowl down. She watched her father nod silently then return to his food. Sakura looked toward her mother, whos head was down finishing her meal as well.

“Make sure you help your mother clear the table and help Mei to bed, then your night can be free.” Sakura's father smiled as he cleared his plate of food. She usually had to help her mother clean the dishes, straighten up the house, and help Mei to bed.

"Are you sure father?” Sakura looked back and forth between her parents, who simply nodded to her. “B-but, I don't mind to do my chores.” She spoke softly, she was glad they were giving her a reprieve, but that would also give her more time to wallow in her sorrows. The girl's mother was the first to rise, as she gathered everyone’s plates and bowls. "Darling, just take the night to yourself." She spoke brightly to her daughter. Sakura got up next to gather cups, utensils, and the tea pot. She neatly stacked the items in the sink and got a towel to wipe the table down.

"Yes ma'am," She nodded slowly and returned the towel to the sink. She grabbed Mei's small chubby hand and took her to work through their nighttime routine. She returned to the kitchen when she was finished to bid her parents good night.

"Sakura, would you sit down a moment please." Her father spoke softly as he normally did. She obeyed him, sitting in her usual seat. "As we were saying, your mother and I have definitely noticed a change in your personality as of late. Even with this change, however, you have still continued to diligently work hard in school and at home. So, we thought we would reward you." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small sealed envelope.

Sakura looked at him, not worrying to hide how confused she was. She began to open it after he handed it to her, a small note falling out in the process. She picked up the note and read it first.

"Follow your dream, learn as much as you can!

                                                  Love, Mom and Dad"

Sakura then looked inside the envelope and found enough cash to buy the game and NerveGear. "Is this..." she looked from one parent to the other a few times. "Are you serious right now?!" Her voice gained back some of it's normal enthusiasm.

Her parents nodded happily at her, "You might want to go find a line tonight. We know this is a little late notice, but maybe a friend might be able to have a spot for you in line." Her mother smiled and spoke as if she had set something up.

"Thank you so much! Oh my gosh, you guys are the best!" She jumped up from her cushion and hugged both of her parents tightly. Then dashed to the door, slid on a pair of sandals, and rushed out.

Sakura ran to the closest store selling the game, and quickly decided against that one. So, she made her way to the next store she could find, once again quickly deciding to think again. Sakura ran around the town for about 30 minutes until she noticed a tall blonde standing in a crowd, towering over the others. "Oikawa?" Sakura questioned herself and skidded to a halt. "Oikawa Tamaki? Is that you?" She spoke as she headed toward the tall boy, who turned to find the voice that had called out his name.

         "Chizuko? Sakura! Hey, still short as ever." He joked as he stepped aside to let her in line with him. Sakura noted that, no one complained surprisingly. That was, until she noticed a sign he held that read;

Holding a spot for my cousin, she had to work tonight.

Everyone in the area didn't seem to mind, but Sakura looked around for another person standing with him. Then he folded up the paper sign and slid it into the back pocket of his jeans, a spark of mischief twinkling in his eyes. "My mom called yours didn't she?" Sakura groaned.  "Yeah, she asked me and I had no problem with it. I've been in line since this morning. So everyone around us has already seen it." He spoke so matter-of-factly that Sakura couldn't even argue with him.  The pair talked for a while, eventually having sat down to wait. A few more hours passed and Sakura began to feel herself drift. "Tamaki," She paused to right herself again, "Thank you. You didn't have to go through the hassle of holding a spot in line for me." She mumbled drowsily.

"Hey, it really is no big deal. Besides your mom helped us a ton when she worked for my mom." Tamaki smiled down to the girl.

8:00 a.m. SAO Official Launch Day

"Sakura, wake up! The doors are about to open!" Tamaki shook her awake, causing Sakura to punch him violently in the chest. Doubling over, Tamaki cringed and coughed not expecting such a strong hit to occur. Once Sakura opened her eyes and became aware of her surroundings, they widened in shock. "Tamaki! Are you okay? Oh I'm so sorry!" She reached out toward him in concern. He held his hand out and grabbed her shoulder while still bent over, "No, I'm cool. Just need a few minutes." He wheezed out.

"Oh no, Tamaki! I really am sorry!" Sakura grabbed his arm and tried to check his injury. "No really, I'm fine." He chuckled, straightening to full height. Once the line began moving, the pair sobered up and stuck close together in attempts to keep in the order of the line. After a few hours, the pair had finally made it into the store, bought their games, and made their way out and away from the crowd.

"I'm so excited to get this home! I'll see you in the game, yeah?" Sakura beamed at Tamaki. "Yeah, sure will. Bet you I'll already have two levels on you by the time you catch up!" He teased as they began to part ways. Waving to each other, they both jogged their separate ways home.

Sakura pushed against her front door, quickly discarding her sandals in the entryway. "MOM! I'm home!" She called excitedly. Moments later, she heard a squeal and heavy thudding heading toward her. Her younger sister, Mei, ran as fast as her chubby little legs would carry her and she jumped into Sakura's arms. "SISSY!!! I miss you!" She screeched, squeezing Sakura's neck. Her mother appeared in the doorway, smiling at her two daughters, "How was your night darling? I've made you a sandwich so you can eat before the launch begins, I'm sure you'd like to be on when they open up the servers." Sakura stared blankly at her mother for a moment. Her brain seemed to stutter hearing her mom talk like she understood the game. "Uh, thank mom. I'll make sure I grab that first." She smiled when she finally regained her senses.

Setting her sister down, she headed to the kitchen where a tuna salad sandwich in a sealed container with a small pile of chips waited. She took the lid off, setting it in the sink, and headed toward her room. "Thanks again mom! I'm going to go get ready for the game!" She called into the family room where her mom and sister sat watching tv. "You are certainly welcome darling, have fun." Her mom smiled brightly at her.

"I pay too?" Mei stood up and scattered her blocks to run to Sakura. "No sissy, I'll play with you after dinner. How does that sound?" Sakura squatted down to be on the same level as her sister. "I pay game too, pwease?" She looked expectantly at Sakura. "I'm sorry, this is for bigger kids. I'll play a game with you after dinner, I promise." Sakura kissed the top of Mei's head and stood back up. "I love you, Mei." She spoke directly to her sister once more. "Okay," Mei nodded and ran back to her scattered pile of blocks. "Love you, mom. See you at dinner."

"I love you too sweetheart." She looked up from the project the was working on, with a smile on her face. As her mother returned to her project and Mei became entranced with her blocks, Sakura turned and headed to her room. She munched on her sandwich as she unboxed the NerveGear and put the SAO disk into her computer. She was prompted to begin a short download for the game, which gave her the time she needed to finish her meal. Once the download was completed and her bowl empty, Sakura was able to plug the NerveGear in and lay down.

"Link Start!" Confidence and excitement was the last emotion conveyed verbally from the young girl.

    Personality:

Sakura is a very studious girl and is perfectly content spending her free time doing research on anything interesting to her. She has a generally happy-go-lucky disposition and likes to be around people. She isn't the most popular, due to people not liking her thirst for knowledge. Along with her fast speech pattern and the fact that she states things very straightforward. She doesn't take hints very well so she tries to spend time with friends who will tell her things straight.

    Virtues:
Love of Learning- Sakura craves knowledge of nearly anything. She loves school and studies very hard to learn anything she feels, or is told, is important. When the topic is something she is interested in, she naturally tries even harder to retain the information. This also causes her to get excited, possibly becoming very animated during class. Others may see her as being a know-it-all, however she has no intention to override or belittle someone else's knowledge. She is very happy to share information, especially if she gains more in return.

Honesty- Sakura refuses to tell anything that is not true. She hates liars and if she is lied to, she has no problem in cutting that person out of her life. Even at only 17, she refuses to have that negativity in her life. She does understand the line between being rude and honest, showing that she wont tell someone something that is true to be mean. She tries to still be polite while retaining her honesty.

Kindness- Sakura wasn't raised with a silver spoon in her mouth, her family is middle class and has needed help from others many times before. She tries her hardest to help any one in need. Be it; emotional support, physical support, etc.. She hates to see someone suffering and will do whatever in her power to ease their burden.

Gratitude- Sakura was raised to show gratitude, so to her everyone should. (Even though she has seen many who don't.) She doesn't like asking for help, for fear of being a burden on someone else. However, when someone goes out of their way to help her, or even helps her looking for something in return, she will do her best to show proper thanks.

    Flaws:
Soft-hearted- Sakura can sometimes be too kind, where she would give the shirt off her back if it meant keeping someone else warm. She disregards her own safety to ensure someone else's. This has lead her to listen more to her heart than her head, creating hardships in her life.

Obsessive Compulsive- Sakura ended up developing some OCD tendencies when she began school. Her need for information let her to become obsessed with having everything in order. Through her school years, she began to label where everything in her room belonged. This normally doesn't hinder her day to day activities, however, when she becomes overly agitated she will begin doing things in sets of three.

Germaphobia- Since Sakura's father is a head doctor, she grew up watching him constantly wash his hands and clothes. He, without knowing, passed his need for things to stay clean to his eldest daughter. Sakura is one of the only kids in school who volunteers to help clean, whether it be at school or at home. She has problems dealing with sick people, sneezes, mud, animals, and blood. Having a younger sister, has helped Sakura learn to manage it to a degree, but she still will become agitated if she cannot ensure most of her environment is clean.
