  1. Woe had received word from Macradon that his new two-handed weapon had just been finished and so he started to head towards his shop. Woe had stumbled into a recent pot of luck gaining two free perfect swords for his merchant trade, however they still weren't the kind of weapon he was looking for. The blade Woe had asked Macradon to make was exactly what Woe had desired for a weapon. All he needed now was the artisan to come through with his request and he'd be a very happy player.

Woe walked into the blazing typhoon with great anticipation. "Where is it?" Woe's eyes glanced over at the counter to find Macradon already waiting with it for him. Woe walked over and inspected the blade. "Thank you kindly. Enjoy the materials." Woe smiled immediately equipped the blade, getting a good feel for it's weight before placing it on his back. "Happy customer. I'll be seeing you when I need an upgrade." With that Woe walked out, ready for his next quest.

  3. Woe smirked as she shrugged his hand off, thought so. "Alright then let's get out of here." Woe lead on and followed the trail torches back out of the cave, the whole trip was a lot less eventful than he for some reason had anticipated, but he was trying to avoid trouble. Oh well.  Woe checked the quest outline for a refresher on what needed to be done, all he had to do now was take the three items back to the merchant and he'd teach him how to identify them, giving them certain properties. Asakku didn't really seem very talkative so he thought it best to leave her be, he didn't see any point in trying to rile her up or pry. Though he was a little confused as to what her goal was, she offered to help but he'd pretty much lead the whole expedition. The walk back was one of silence.

They had finally returned to the small store, the child waiting at the counter still. Woe knocked on the door as he walked in. "Successful journey, and a lucky one at that too." Woe took the three items out and showed them to the storekeeper. "So how are these?" The kid looked at the three items with great surprise "Wow! You really did get lucky!" The npc looked at the items closer and then nodded in approval. "Alright very good then. Here's what you need to know about identifying items."  The npc then went into great detail about how to best identify enchantments on items, the common and even unique types of enchantments that may be found. Woe nodded thoughtfully as the process was explained to him.

"Alright now you give it a try. Show me what you've learnt." Woe went through with the identification on one of the swords using the skills he was taught. The item screen popped up showing him the new enchantments on the item. "I have no idea if this is good but its better than my crumby sword."

  4. Surprisingly Woe's tangent of an opinion seemed not to yield much of a reaction at all, perhaps she didn't mind being stuck in here after all? No matter, Woe was probably just overthinking things for no reason, though it seemed she was starting to get more relaxed around him. "There's probably a story behind this place, but to be honest I'd rather find the last item we need and leave. Not really one for history."  Woe walked past her as she fawned over the decaying skeleton.  "My guess is he used a real one as a reference." At the end of the weirdly put together cavern hideout was some kind of study table, resting on the table was a perfect shield with the remains of its owner resting on top of it with some kind of cloth clasped in its bony hands, as if it were polishing the shield before they died. It did raise many questions as to what exactly happened here.

It looked as if something happened, and then they all instantly died, but there were no signs of trauma to indicate violence.
"Interesting... Well looks like we got what we came for. What's that saying again? Good things come in threes?" He joked as he lifted the last perfect item in front of her. He popped it into his inventory and walked beside her before placing a calm hand on her shoulder. "Ready to leave?"

  5. Once the carcass of the dead boar had broken into thousands of tiny fragments and dissipated into nothingness, three boar pups came charging from the distance. "Oh, it seemed I have killed their mother, how sad." Woe frowned and kept his blade at the ready. "Hmm i know what to do here, let's try this one out shall we." Woe bent his knees and placed the blunt side of the blade of the sword on his back he kept his eyes on the three boar pups charging at him before activating the sword art. "Blast!" With that Woe's body launched forward towards the three boars, his hands taking the two-handed blade with mastery and with two large sweeps of the blade he cut through the boars instantly and with ease. Woe landed a few meters behind the boars and sheathed the blade back on his back. "Wow." Was all he could manage to say as he felt the adrenaline pumping through his brain. "That was intense. I could see myself getting addicted to this game." A small window popped up asking if he would like to accept two boar pup tusks. Woe accepted.

  6. After having placed the item back into his inventory he leaned against the wall to face Asakku, he was short-sighted but he wasn't stupid. He could tell when someone was being sarcastic, and judging by their last interactions it almost felt like it was a poorly put together act starting to come undone. Alright then, what's your angle?  "I was thinking about what you said before you left. Kayaba isn't your typical game developer, as you can clearly tell it would take someone sick to do this to a sum of ten thousand people. I wouldn't be surprised if he had codded a backstory just as sick to some of his NPC's. Afterall, he knew that even the players would leave the game by any means necessary, even if it meant dying, a cruel test of will. A person like him is despicable, but still, I have to admire his ambition and work. Even as someone who doesn't play games, the technology needed to pull this off is unheard of. I guess what I'm trying to say is, the guy's messed up, but we have to suck it up and play his game." Woe figured a statement like that would push some buttons. He shrugged and pushed off the wall, heading into the cave. "Anyway, we're not done yet."

Woe entered the cavern, hoping to find some more dead bodies with gear he could loot. The cave smelt rank, but what could you expect of a place filled with dead things rotting away. Strangely enough, however, there were many banners which hung from the walls of the cavern, which lead Woe to believe that his used to be an NPC set up of some kind, or maybe just a story prompt. Woe wasn't really interesting in figuring it out though, he just wanted to get the gear and leave. Following the banners there seemed to be more and more furniture that decorated the large cavern. Sitting at an empty table was another dead skeleton, with another perfect greatsword. "Well would you look at that, It seems today is my lucky day."  Woe kindly relieved the skeleton of the burden that weighed on its back and added it into his inventory.

  7. Woe raised an eyebrow at the girl as he thought about her response, I wonder"Not sure why actually. Didn't really put two and two together. Could just be they got lost and starved, or maybe suicide, or freak accident. Who knows. Never been to a cavern in real life though so I'm kind of excited, weirdly enough." Woe wasn't exactly a fan of being stuck in this death trap of a game but it was a very pretty one and offered many opportunities that you didn't normally get elsewhere. Especially for someone like him who grew up in the city all his life, he could now go and see many different places and see things he never got to see growing up, after all only having one parent didn't afford you many opportunities to travel.

The kept travelling until they reached the cave that they were looking for.
"This is the place I believe. The cavern with the dead guys should be inside somewhere." The two searched the dark caves, luckily there were already torches lit by the people who were here before them. All they had to do was follow the torches until they came upon the dead NPC's they were looking for. It wasn't long before they reached the cavern, it was large, much larger than Woe had expected it to be. Right by the entrance of the cavern was a dead body, with a giant two-handed straight sword resting on the skeletons back. "One down, two to go. Ain't that lucky."

  8. The boar was up and ready for another swing at Woe, but he wasn't phased now. An air of confidence hung over Woe like an oppressive aura that would have the boar shaking if it knew what was good for it. But it didn't because it was just a stupid A.I generated level 1 mob that was designed to be killed, killed by Woe himself. It came charging once again like it did not too long ago, trotting and squealing this time in a fit of rage as its health bar hung yellow. Woe rested the weight of his greatsword on the ground by its tip waiting for the boar to get close. When it did, Woe pressed down on his blade and lifted himself above it, letting the boar run straight through his sword and cut it in half. "Huh, that was easier than I expected." Woe grabbed at his handles with both hands and vaulted over the boar's body as it shattered and landed on top of its remains. A small loot screen popped up saying congratulations and listed his earnings for the battle. "Only 10 Col and a single material. I feel ripped off. But I suppose the thing was so easy it killed itself. I'm sure tougher battles will reap better rewards." Woe accepted the loot and sheathed his sword. "I think I got the hang of this."

  9. Having just ordered a new weapon Woe thought a trinket could also be beneficial in his future quests. He walked into the charming store and inspected the artisan's prices, stock, and enchantments. He rubbed his chin in thought, considering what would go best with the sword that he had purchased. He thought for a few more moments before taking out his quill and parchment writing down the details of the amulet he wanted. "Excuse me, I'd like to place an order for this amulet please" Woe handed the artisan the parchment and exchanged the 800Col as payment for the item. "I believe this is enough"

  10. The boar angrily charged at Woe with the intent to kill. Woe froze up, terrified of what was to come next. He had no clue just what was going to happen to him once he got hit, the fear of dying consumed him. The boar's trotters moved quickly through the grass like a breeze, and then a wild rock appeared. The boar went tumbling through the grass and face planted in front of Woe. Woe regained his composure and very confusingly poked at the boar with his two-handed straight sword, letting the blade sink into the boar's flesh. It began to squeal wildly and got up quickly after shaking Woe off itself. Woe jumped back to a safe distance with a new wind of confidence, noticing the boar's hp bar go down to a yellow proportion of health, exactly fifty percent of its green portion of health. "Huh, you're not so tough after all, are you?

  11. Woe blinked as she looked away before accepting his party request, interesting. He was reluctant to shake her hand but he thought there was no harm in being polite so he did so promptly. As they began to walk she asked what level he was, he figured in sword art online people found it rude to ask other players their level, he answered her question with a rhetorical one. "Doesn't matter, does it? Though I'm not generally around the town of beginnings because I'm usually only here to accept quests."  Woe preferred to keep out on the road than cowering behind the walls like some of the players did, was Asakku like that? "The name is Woe, by the way. Do you spend a lot of time behind the walls?"

They would keep walking until they were out of the town of beginnings and near the grassy fields that surrounded it. He checked the game guide he picked up from the merchant in the town of beginnings with compiled data from other players for any tips on the ideal locations to get the items he was looking for. After a few moments, he tucked it back into his inventory. "Southwest of here there is rumoured to be a cavern with the gear of some dead NPC's, apparently the first one to pick em up gets the gear but they're useless unless a merchant appraises it. Guess that's where we'll start first."

  12. Woe blinked at the blacksmith before looking at the sign again, this time noticing the fine print at the bottom. "Huh well, would you look at that I guess I misread." Woe thought about it for afew more seconds before continuing. "Very well I will pay in materials. Though I understand that the jump in materials from rare to perfect is quite dodgy, almost as if compensating for the 50% discount, the odd number being rounded up to make it cost 4 instead of what it should be, 3.  Can't say I agree with that business model but I guess I'm paying for it either way. Here." Woe took his Col back and instead withdrew four materials. He hadn't wanted to part with those just yet as he knew just how boring and painful it was to go out and get them himself.

-Payment altered from 750col to 4 materials

  13. Just as Woe was about to head out a curious figure approached him. A short slender girl with raven hair and eyes as red as his. She asked if she could be of assistance, though to be honest she didn't look anymore experienced as him, coupled by the fact she stated she didn't think she was a very good fighter reinforced that hypothesis. However, he wasn't entirely sure where to begin and it wouldn't hurt having a companion come along for the ride. Woe scratched his neck and thought for a brief second before answering. "Uhh, sure I guess. It wouldn't hurt to have some company. Right now I'm doing a quest called 'earning a living' so I can become a merchant. You won't have to worry about any combat I think, I'd prefer to avoid combat too since I'm rather new at this, killed a few boars though." Woe smirked and sent her an invite to join his party, something he had learnt to do earlier from the game guide. "The quest objective is to gather three items to be appraised, so I guess we'll be going for some item hunting. I was thinking maybe some stealthy dungeon crawling."

  14. It was another leisurely day walking through the town of beginnings, Woe was wearing his usual gear, slim plated heavy armour which only covered his most vulnerable areas, with plenty of black cloth padding underneath to cover his skin. He had stopped by the merchant square to check out some items since he was in-between questing and needed some better gear if he had any hope of progressing any faster through the levels. As he inspected a lovely sapphire accuracy trinket he saw a shadow moving in the corner of his eye, seemingly coming from the direction of a narrow alleyway between a shop and an inn. Woe gently put the trinket down and decided to take a better look at what exactly it was that had caused the startling movement in his peripheral vision. As he neared the alleyway he saw a quest notification pop up <<Earning a Living: Merchant>> without thinking Woe pressed accept, since he had gotten in the habit of simply accepting any quest notification that popped up in front of his face.

He is around the age of 12 or 13, but almost seems more mature for his age than other young kids that you have met. He beckons you forward, and considering it's a kid, nothing really seems that suspicious about him. He enters a small room next to a bigger inn, looks very small to be a shop, but a shop still exists somehow. He has you follow him into the back, where he has items littered all around, the combined stats on all of them are astronomical. "If you really want to learn how to be a Merchant, you have to be crafty and smart for this. You best know what you are doing. I'll show you how to identify an it- No! I'm all out." The kid pouts for a bit, then stops and turns to you."Go get me some more, around 3, so I can show you how to do this." The kid pouts again and crosses his arms.

Woe simply blinked, starting at the kid in front of him, not really all too sure what kind of quest prompt had just unfurled in front of him. "well ok I guess, being a merchant sounds fun." Woe walked out of the shop and looked around briefly scratching his head. "Where do I even start?"
    @Asakku

  15. Woe was heading out of the town of beginnings on another quest and on his way out he noticed a humble store with a grand wooden entrance named 'The blazing Typhoon'. Taking notice to such a store Woe thought he might gander as to its contents, peeking through the windows to find a fellow player crafting some weaponry, with gear that seemed hugely impressive. Woe's eyes wandered back to the front of the store noticing a sign saying "Beginners discount 50% off on perfect items". Woe rubbed his chin as he thought about it and checked his inventory, then cross-referenced with the price ranges of the shop that were displayed near the sign. Having decided on his choice he walked in through the front door. "Good afternoon Sir, I'd like to make a request for a perfect weapon please, making use of the beginner discount i believe that should come to 750Col." Woe withdrew the 750 col in the form of a money pouch and placed it on the counter. "Oh yeah and here's the details for the weapon." Woe pulled out a quill and parchment and quickly jotted down the details of the weapon and handed it to the blacksmith. "Thank you kindly in advance."

  16. Woe was once again out in the open airs of the first floors grassy fields right outside of the town of beginnings. Woe remembered seeing plenty of boars out near where he had been scavenging for the orange tiger lilies however he didn't know if saw the 'boar pups' that the quest was asking of him to kill. Perhaps they were in another area entirely, but there was only one way to find out, and that was to go check it out for himself. He followed the basic road leading away from the town of beginnings and before long he could see the starter boars. He wasn't going to lie, Woe was completely and utterly terrified of dying, especially so since this was going to be his first time-fighting something.

Woe finally found a boar and looked through the game guide to see if there was anything on how to actually fight in the game. There didn't seem to be too much information apart on how to actually fight other than how to activate sword arts. "Sword arts huh?" Woe equipped his two-handed greatsword, instantly feeling the weight of it in his hands. "Man this thing is heavy." Woe grabbed it with his two hands and tried inputting the command for 'Straight' by lifting the blade at eye level and pointing in the direction he wanted to attack. Woe's sights were set on the boar and his two-handed sword started to glow. Woe bent his knees and charged straight at the boar pushing off the grass with great force. Before he knew it, he had moved a total of 5 inches. "Wait. What?" He said confused. He quickly checked the guide which read 'Once in position say the name of the sword art and allow the game to move you, no effort required on your behalf.' "Huh well that would explain it then" Woe mumbled to himself and looked up to find the boar running straight towards him. "Uh oh." Woe jumped to the side narrowly avoiding the boar's attack. "Well now I've done it haven't I?"

  17. Woe accepted the quest in the drop-down menu and headed out of the shop and back into the city. He stretched his arms out taking In a large breath of fresh air as it began to gently rain over the town of beginnings. The droplets of water quickly dampened his hair and rolled down the soft pale skin of his cheeks. It was scary just how accurately the game could simulate the real environment. The touch, smell, taste, sound... it all felt so real. Woe could see how quickly things in here might start feeling like real life, he wondered if it would even be possible to go back to real life after spending too long in here. "I guess all that means is I have to beat this stupid game faster than I first thought." Some of the other players he had talked to waved out to him with a smile on their faces, as if to thank him for the time he spent calming them down. He could already see a few begin to head towards Zackariah's place, and some towards the tavern to spend the evening and night. But Woe wasn't going to stop and rest just yet. He still had much work to do. He was still far too weak. The nice thing was thought that after completing that first quest he had already levelled up to level three, completely skipping level two. It seemed to spend all that time on doing the quests had paid offed and yielded positive results. With the affirmation with himself that he was doing well enough, Woe stopped his stretch and began to head out of town again, this time to kill some innocent baby boars.

  18. Woe slouched over the blacksmiths counter and prepared to cop an earful of information about the next quests. To be honest after spending the entire day helping random people not want to end it all he was feeling pretty done with things already. He thought maybe after this quest he should get some sleep, however, Woe was determined to keep going until he finished the quest chain. Lyle Tealeaf began the to explain the quest objectives. "Alright so I've been in short of supplies recently and I don't really know what to do about it. So I thought if you went out and killed some boar pups and gathered their tusks for me I could fashion you a weapon or armour of your choice. I can't promise it'd be the best set of armour of your life, but it'd be good enough for someone like you." Woe raised an eye at the blacksmith. "Oh really? Yeah fine whatever, I'll do it. The exp should be worth it enough on its own anyway." The blacksmith smiled and nodded "Yes, go and fetch me the materials and when you get back I can make you something nice."

  19. Woe walked out of the store and began walking towards the blacksmith, this one seemed to be much easier to find. All he had to do was follow the giant plume of smoke coming out of the blacksmiths forge. Woe tucked the package away into his quest inventory and began heading over towards the blacksmith. He looked around the streets of the town of beginnings to still find chaos raging over the town. Woe shook his head and kept his gaze focused as he walked onward. He couldn't allow the suffering of others to deter him from his own path. He didn't wish anything ill of the people around him, but he wasn't going to go out of his way to spend all day trying to talk them into focusing on completing the game, he'd let that be someone else's problem... right? "Jessica..." Woe stopped in his tracks, an immense feeling of guilt and dread washing over him as he remembered his lost friend. She was going through a tough time herself with no one to help her, Woe had wished that someone did help her, he wished he could save her. So how could he say he'd let it be someone else's problem? He sighed and swallowed his pride. "Alright, Jessica. I'll do it for you." Woe spent the rest of his day helping other players who were struggling with coping with the fact that they were now stuck in the game.

Later that night he arrived at the blacksmith, tossing the package over to Lyle. "Alright, I've had a tiring day. Let's get this over with." Lyle looked at the boy confused. "The package is from Zackariah." Woe continued. Lyle picked up the package and nodded. "Then let's begin your next lesson..."

A message popped up in front of him as he completed the last quest objective.

  20. Woe tried again, this time following the old man's instructions and grinding the orange tiger lily into a paste instead of crushing it and mashing it. Once the flower had been ground into a fine paste he added the liquid solution and before long a screen popped up saying "Perfect Quality Success: +1 Perfect Quality Healing Potion." The old man patted him on the back rather proud of Woe's creation. "That is literally quite perfect young man. Excellent work indeed!" The old man took the potion from Woe and added to his personal storage. Woe smirked, also rather proud of himself, but rather salty that he didn't get to keep the potion in the end. No matter he already had his starting five which should prove to be more than enough for his future endeavours. "Well now that I've finished everything what else is there to do? What's my reward apart from the knowledge?" The old man returned to his counter before speaking. "Well son, there is one more thing I need you to do before we call it a day." Woe rolled his eyes. "Of course, what else is there to do?" Zackariah reached under his counter and pulled out a small parcel. "I need you to deliver this package to Lyle Tealeaf, the blacksmith here in the town of beginnings. Once you've delivered the package you can call your work done." Woe nodded "Yes I suppose we will." He had already guessed that delivering this package would prompt the start of the next one so he prepared himself for being told that there was more work to be done.

  21. Upon returning to the old man's shop he slammed his hands down on the desk. As he came in the old man smiled and with a smirk quipped "What took you so long?" Woe crossed his forehead  "Why didn't you tell me the flowers you were looking for grown outside in a large field northwest of the city? I was looking in the southeast fields for hours!" Zackariah put his hands out as if to say calm down. "It doesn't matter now, minor details. I'm glad you managed to find them all so let's just move on shall we? The next objective is to craft a potion." Woe bit his lip and calmed himself, there was no point getting angry at an NPC, it was what it was. This just meant that there is more information that hasn't been known to most players or even the beta testers that you'll just have to find for yourself. "Ok, so where do I begin old man?" Zackariah grabbed the materials from Woe and began grinding the flowers into a paste before adding a previously mixed liquid solution. The two materials fused together automatically via the games system and created a healing potion. "Now you try, I'll provide you with all the materials you need to make one. When you successfully craft one we'll call it day."

Woe took the materials and did as he was shown. Crushing the orange tiger lilies into a paste and adding the liquid solution. The materials started to fuse together just as demonstrated, then there was a sizzle... POOF the materials blew up in a puff of smoke which covered his face in a soot-like substance. "Agh what the hell was that!" Woe exclaimed as he wiped his face. Zackariah chuckled and placed a gentle hand on Woe's shoulders. "You were beating at the flower and crushing it. You're meant to grind it into a paste." Woe looked and him and blinked. "Well wasn't that stupid of me."

  22. On his way northwest of the town of beginnings, he still kept his eyes open for and potential orange tiger lilies that he could find along the way. Luckily enough for him, this tactic seemed to work out in his favour as he came across a field filled with orange tiger lilies. "Are you serious. You have to be kidding me. I searched that hard to find these damn things and there's a giant field of them out northwest of the town? No wonder I didn't see any other players out here doing the quest. It was because they would have just walked out here instead! Argh!" Woe angrily plucked the last flower he needed and shoved it into his inventory by forcefully pressing the accept button on his drop down menu.

A very frustrated Woe stamped his way back into town to give the old man his stupid flowers.

  23. Woe kept up the search and started humming some tunes to make things go along quicker. He had assumed that in this game there were finite resources, so how could it be that this flower was so damn hard to come by if he was the only one who was taking the quest? Maybe not all the resources had spawned yet? Or maybe it could be that he was looking in the wrong places? Yes, it was tried and true that he did get some results from searching through the meadows covered with tall blades of grass, but perhaps he would have more luck searching the forest area northwest of the town of beginnings. If he still wasn't getting any results he thought to himself that he might just head over that direction and start looking there. It could just be that he was looking in the sub-optimal area for orange tiger lilies and he had wasted a whole heap of time in the wrong area.

  24. Woe could start to feel a chill in the air as time went past, it seemed like it had already been an hour or so since he started his search and still was having no luck. Little did he know that he was still searching through patches of grass that he had already gone through half an hour ago. It wasn't long before he figured it out though, he grabbed his bearings quickly before changing course. "I'm so stupid, ugh... well at least I'm on the right track now." Woe started to head toward a new section of grass that he hadn't searched yet. He could feel his fingers start to grow tender too from all the weed picking and scruffling through the tall blades of grass. Soon enough though he knew he'd be done and dusted with this gathering and he'd be able to move onto new and better things.
